  • Set up homeserver with single IP to host multiple sites on Ubuntu [closed]

    I am trying to set up my homeserver so it can function as a regular server one would rent. I am running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with openpanel. I have a single static IP address. I am used to having two addresses and pointing them to NS1.domain.tld and NS2.domain.tld and setting up the propper DNS records. I would also like to mention I am somewhat new to DNS zones. Either way, how would I go about setting this up correctly (in openpanel) with just a single IP address if possible at all? I have also read about free solutions online, but I would like to keep everything secure and private so other people can't peer into my data somehow. Thanks!

  • Emacs doesn't use ~/.ssh/config when accessing files on a remote machine

    I have a fresh install of arch Linux. I've installed Emacs from the rpos, and my home directory is mounted from a separate partition. I have old settings I've used on my ~/.ssh/config along with authentication keys I've regularly used before. Now, when I try to connect to a remote machine using Emacs, Emacs asks for my password and uses the wrong username. Clearly, Emacs doesn't access my config file. When I try to ssh or scp directly to the machine, things work fine. What do I need to update?

  • Block a Server from reaching a machine

    I have a Windows 2003 server that I want to block from accessing a specific IP address. I want to control this from the Server. because I control the machine. The traffic is http traffic (webservice call). It uses a non-standard port, so IP address+ Port combination would also work. Background: I have a development enviornment that for some reason is ignoring host file enteries under some circumstances. These host files point the enviornment at services in another Dev enviornment. Wne th host files are ignored, dev is talking to production. This is not my question, rather the motivation for this inquiry. I want is a failsafe to ensure dev will error instead of happily engaging in transactions with production. I control the dev server, I do not control the firewalls or the target production machine.

  • machine ignoring host file?

    so i can ping the ip adress for the server i need but when i ping it by name, the server name is followed by an incorrect ip address. My host file is updated, i can communicate with my machine from my server just fine. i can access websites on the server by typing the ip adress into the adress bar followed by the name. it is like my machine is ignoring my hosts file... i have updated re updated...flushed dns, u name it ive done it any ideas?

    Hi there We're seeing the following intermittent warning logged by MSDTC: A caller has attempted to propagate a transaction to a remote system, but MSDTC network DTC access is currently disabled on machine 'X'. Please review the MS DTC configuration settings. However, MSDTC is disabled on machine X by design - it's a client machine, and has no business being enlisted in the transaction! Several windows service endpoints hosting WCF services over TCP Single SQL Server 2005 instance beneath Linq to Sql Remote client receives event callbacks over WCF/TCP The issue is tricky to reproduce - usually following restart of services. We suspect a callback to the client machine is occurring within the context of a transaction. Just wondering if anyone has seen similar issues?? Ken

  • implementing a state machine using the "yield" keyword

    Is it feasible to use the yield keyword to implement a simple state machine as shown here. To me it looks like the C# compiler has done the hard work for you as it internally implements a state machine to make the yield statement work. Can you piggy-back on top of the work the compiler is already doing and get it to implement most of the state machine for you? Has anyone done this, is it technically possible?

  • Vanilla WPF application hangs on one customer's machine

    At a customer, one of our WPF applications started to hang. When trying to reproduce the problem with a minimal working example, I discovered that even the most basic (non-trivial) WPF application will hang on that machine. Example A: Create a new C# WPF project in Visual Studio 2008. Change nothing, compile it and run it on the customer's machine. It will run. Example B: Take Example A, and add a TextBlock to the main form Window1: <Window ...> <Grid> <TextBlock>Test</TextBlock> </Grid> </Window> Compile the application and run it on the customer's machine. It will hang: The title bar and the window border is visible, the inside is transparent and the window does not react to anything (cannot be moved or closed). The application must be shut down using the task manager. Obviously, this customer's WPF is broken. Is this a known issue, i.e., has anyone encountered it before and already knows how to solve it (e.g. reinstall .net 3.5 SP1, etc.)? The development machine is W7SP1, the customer's machine is XP (probably SP3, didn't check).

  • Unit Testing in QTestLib - running single test / tests in class / all tests

    I'm just starting to use QTestLib. I have gone through the manual and tutorial. Although I understand how to create tests, I'm just not getting how to make those tests convenient to run. My unit test background is NUnit and MSTest. In those environments, it was trivial (using a GUI, at least) to alternate between running a single test, or all tests in a single test class, or all tests in the entire project, just by clicking the right button. All I'm seeing in QTestLib is either you use the QTEST_MAIN macro to run the tests in a single class, then compile and test each file separately; or use QTest::qExec() in main() to define which objects to test, and then manually change that and recompile when you want to add/remove test classes. I'm sure I'm missing something. I'd like to be able to easily: Run a single test method Run the tests in an entire class Run all tests Any of those would call the appropriate setup / teardown functions.

    Hey all, I try to use single quotes as much as possible and I've noticed that I can't use \n in single quotes. I know I can just enter a newline literally by pressing return, but that screws up the indentation of my code.. Is there some ASCII character or something that I can type that will produce newline when I'm using single quotes? Thanks! Matt Mueller

  • Miss a single tap randomly

    I have the following code snippets - (void)touchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { UITouch *touch = [touches anyObject]; NSUInteger numberTaps = [touch tapCount]; // Tapping if (numberTaps > 0) { // do something } ... The above code basically detects a single tap on a small image (width = 18 and height = 36). It works 90% of the time detecting a single tap. But it sometime misses it (randomly). I have to tap several times before it picks up the single tap. What did I do wrong or miss so I could consistently detect the single tap 100%? Thanks in advance for your help.

    I have to generate some update statements based off a table in our database. I created the following script which is generating the update statements I need. But when I try to run those scripts I am getting errors pertaining to unescaped single quotes in the content and &B, &T characters which have special meaning in oracle. I took care of the &B and &T problem by setting SET DEFINE OFF. Whats the best way to escape single quotes within the content? DECLARE CURSOR C1 IS SELECT * FROM EMPLOYEES; BEGIN FOR I IN C1 LOOP DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('UPDATE EMPLOYEES SET FIRST_NAME= ''' || I.FIRST_NAME|| ''', LAST_NAME = ''' || I.LAST_NAME ''', DOB = ''' || I.DOB|| ''' WHERE EMPLOYEE_ID = ''' || I.EMPLOYEE_ID || ''';'); END LOOP; END; Here if the first_name or last_name contains single quotes then the generated update statements break.     What is the time limit for two taps to be considered a double-tap, on the iPhone OS? // Edit: Why is this important? In order to handle single-tap and double-tap differently, Apple's guide says to do performSelector...afterDelay with some 'reasonable' interval on first tap (and cancel it later if the second tap is detected). The problem is that if the interval is too short (0.1), the single tap action will be performed even when double-tapping (if relying only on tapCount, that is). If it's too long (0.8), the user will be waiting unnecessarily for the single-tap to be recognized, when there is no possibility for a double-tap. It has to be exactly the correct number, in order to work optimally, but definitely not smaller, or there's a chance for bugs (simultaneous single-tap and double-tap).

  • Escape doube and single backslashes in a string in Ruby

    Hello. I'm trying to access a network path in my ruby script on a windows platform in a format like this. \\servername\some windows share\folder 1\folder2\ Now If I try to use this as a path, it won't work. Single backslashes are not properly escaped for this script. path = "\\servername\some windows share\folder 1\folder2\" d = Dir.new(path) I tried everything I could think of to properly escape slashes in the path. However I can't escape that single backslash - because of it's special meaning. I tried single quotes, double quotes, escaping backslash itself, using alternate quotes such as %Q{} or %q{}, using ascii to char conversion. Nothing works in a sense that I'm not doing it right. :-) Right now the temp solution is to Map a network drive N:\ pointing to that path and access it that way, but that not a solution. Does anyone have any idea how to properly escape single backslashes? Thank you

  • WPF ClickOnce Bootstrap Dection Failure on One Machine

    Hello Friend, I've decided to use ClickOnce technology to deploy my new WPF application. By and large, ClickOnce works as advertised but I've hit a minor glitch regarding Bootstrapping and framework detection. Some background: - I'm using the standard Visual Studio-generated publish.htm page as my launch page. - The only prerequisite is the .NET Framework 4.0 Client Profile. - All clients using IE 8. - All clients already have the .NET 4.0 Client Profile installed. ClickOnce works as advertised on the vast majority of machines. The VS-generated JScript correctly detects that the framework is installed and presents the user with a Run button. The app launches just fine. I'm getting odd results on one of the machines, however. On the offending machine, the VS-generated JScript tells the user that the prereqs may not be installed -- or rather, it FAILS to detect that the framework is already installed. The "launch" link successfully launches the application but the Run link points to the bootstrapper setup.exe. Why is it failing to detect the framework on this one machine? It occurred to me that framework detection is largely a matter of examining the useragent string that's submitted by the browser. So, what you see below are two UserAgent strings. The first is from a machine where things are working properly. The second is from the offending machine. I don't know enough about useragent strings to understand why the former works and the latter fails. The only difference as far as I can tell is that the offending machine is running 64bit. But that shouldn't make a difference. Should it? Any ideas? Dexter Morgan
