  I have created an eclipse plugin, with a plugin.xml file. I have created an extension to the org.eclipse.wst.common.snippets.SnippetContributions extension point. The xml contents of this extension point has gotten really big. Is there a way that I can move the contents of my snippets extension to a separate file?   As discussed here, I'm trying to add a WCF endpoint-extension; I've got it working, but I need to include the full assembly details: <extensions> <behaviorExtensions> <add name="protobuf" type="ProtoBuf.ServiceModel.ProtoBehaviorExtension, protobuf-net, Version=1.0.0.275, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=257b51d87d2e4d67"/> </behaviorExtensions> </extensions> What I would like to do (to avoid issues when updating etc, especially for samples) is to include just the names: <add name="protobuf" type="ProtoBuf.ServiceModel.ProtoBehaviorExtension, protobuf-net"/> (which is what you might expect from standard assembly-naming conventions) However, if I do this, I get a big error: Parser Error Message: An error occurred creating the configuration section handler for system.serviceModel/behaviors: Extension element 'protobuf' cannot be added to this element. Verify that the extension is registered in the extension collection at system.serviceModel/extensions/behaviorExtensions. Is it possible (and if so: how) to add an extension without having to specify the assembly-version?

• Windows file association for README, INSTALL, LICENSE and the like [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: How to set the default program for opening files without an extension in Windows? Many files originating in the UNIX world come without file extension. Popular examples include README, INSTALL, LICENSE. We know for a fact that these are text files. It is therefore a bit disappointing not to be able to just double-click them open in Explorer and see them in Notepad (actually, Notepad2 because of the UNIX line endings which silly Microsoft Notepad doesn't render correctly). Does anyone know of a way to create a file association for, say, README files without extension? This could then be replicated to cover the most frequently occurring file types, and then double-clicking them open would work. Update (Sort of in response to all your comments.) Thanks, folks, your comments and answers have helped me. @Indrek, yes, I was under the assumption that you could somehow create an association for just README or Makefile, and couldn't do so for files without extension. Turns out the contrary is true, and yes, that is a workaround that neatly solves the issue. Ultimately, I just want to be able to double-click to open a README or Makefile, that's all. @Sampo, the SendMe trick is also useful, although usability is not as great as a straight double-click. (I'm really lazy sometimes.)   Hi Everyone, I've been struggling with this for a half day and can't seem to figure out why SWFupload is adding an extra extension to my uploads? • Upgrading VSIX extensions from VS2012 to VS2013

Failing which, it will not be possible for your consumers to install and use your extensions on Visual Studio 2013.   Objective In this blog post, I’ll show you how simple it is to upgrade your Visual Studio 2012 extension to Visual Studio 2013. There aren’t any reported breaking changes between VS 2012 SDK and VS 2013 SDK, the upgrade usually involves, rebuilding the extension against VS 2013 SDK and updating the vsix manifest file.              Walkthrough Download the Visual Studio 2013 SDK - You will need to download the Visual Studio 2013 SDK in order to open up the Visual Studio extension project in Visual Studio 2013. The SDK can be downloaded from here. Install the SDK before you proceed.                2. Once the VS 2013 SDK has been installed, open up your package project. For the purposes of this blog post, I’ll open up the Avanade Extension – Software Inventory in Visual Studio 2013. You will notice that Visual Studio doesn’t load the project but let’s you know that the project needs to be Migrated.                  3. Right click the project and choose the option ‘Reload Project’ from the Context Menu.                  4. Choosing the Reload Project option brings up an upgrade window, telling you that the upgrade is a one way only upgrade i.e. the project will be changed to work with Visual Studio 2013 and you will not be able to open the project up in Visual Studio 2012. My recommendation would be to create a Visual Studio 2013 branch and upgrading the project in that branch only, so if you need to go back to Visual Studio 2012 project at some point, you have a handy reference in a separate branch.             5. Upon clicking Ok, the project is updated. See below, the following changes are made at the time of upgrade,           - The runtime version is updated in the Resources.Designer.cs file                      - The Minimum version of Visual Studio in the package project file is changed from 11.0 to 12.0                    6. Reference VS 2013 dll’s rather than VS 2012 dll’s. So reference Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Client.dll and Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Controls.dll from C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\ReferenceAssemblies\v2.0 and C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\ReferenceAssemblies\v4.5. If you have any other API references, then change the references to point to VS 2013 instead of VS 2012.                          7. Rebuild your solution to ensure there are no breaking changes. Success!                8. Update VSIX Manifest file (the file source.extnsion.vsixmanifest contains the meta data for your VSIX).          - Update the Install Targets from 11.0 to 12.0. This basically enforces that the extension can be installed on Visual Studio 2013 version of Visual Studio.                         - Update the Dependencies from Visual Studio MPF 11.0 to Visual Studio MPF 12.0              9. Rebuild the solution and open up the bin folder for the Package project and look for the file *.vsix file [Microsoft Visual Studio Extension].         - This is basically the installer for your extension.                 - Double click the installer to launch the installer wizard. Viola! You can see the package installation wizard opens up and gives you the option to install the extension for Visual Studio 2013.                    - Click Install to Continue                    - Note – If you run into the exception “23/06/2013 10:42:18 - Install Error : Microsoft.VisualStudio.ExtensionManager.InstallByMsiException: The InstalledByMSI element in extension Avanade Extensions cannot be 'true' when installing an extension through the Extensions and Updates Installer.  The element can only be 'true' when an MSI lays down the extension manifest file.” Ensure you have the option “This VSIX is installed by Windows Installer” unchecked in the Install Targets tab.        10. Verifying that the extension has installed correctly.           - Open Extension Manager and verify that the installed extension shows up in the extension manager “list of installed VSIX”.                      11. First Look at the updated Extension                         - The links have now been moved to the context menu, so to see the navigation links, you’ll have to right click on the icon and select the option from the context menu.                                        Note – The Avanade Extension being used in the demo has been developed by Utkarsh and Tarun. The Software Inventory Extension for Visual Studio 2012…  allows you to see the list of Software installed on the hosted build server right from with in Visual Studio,  the extension also allows you to export this list to excel. • wamp cannot load mysqli extension

  WAMP installed fine, no problems, BUT... When going to phpMyAdmin, I get the error from phpMyAdmin as follows: "Cannot load mysqli extension. Please check your PHP configuration". Also, phpMyAdmin documentation explains this error message as follows: "To connect to a MySQL server, PHP needs a set of MySQL functions called "MySQL extension". This extension may be part of the PHP distribution (compiled-in), otherwise it needs to be loaded dynamically. Its name is probably mysql.so or php_mysql.dll. phpMyAdmin tried to load the extension but failed. Usually, the problem is solved by installing a software package called "PHP-MySQL" or something similar."   Running PHP Version 5.2.5 on Windows Server 2003 with IIS. Have virtually an identical server where we were able to install ImageMagick with no issues. It's running exactly the same version of php. Used the following steps to install, but it just won't seem to work on this server. ImageMagick itself is installed but php won't load the extension. We've spent hours trying to get the extension installed. It just won't show up in phpinfo(). INSTALL STEPS TAKEN* To install IMagick on windows xp (php 5.2.x) 1.) download and install ImageMagick-6.5.8-7 Q16-windows-dll.exe http://www.imagemagick.org/download/binaries/ ImageMagick-6.5.8-7-Q16-windows-dll.exe 2.) download php_imagick_dyn-Q16.dll from: http://valokuva.org/outside-blog-content/ imagick-windows-builds/080709/ copy dll to [PHP]/extension dir and rename it to php_imagick.dll 3.) You have to edit your php.ini file and add new extension "extension=php_imagick.dll" 4.) Save ini file and restart apache server. (If necessary, restart your windows) 5.) phpinfo() should show imagick enabled.

• Polymorphism problem: How to check type of derived class?

  Hi, this is my first question here :) I know that I should not check for object type but instead use dynamic_cast, but that would not solve my problem. I have class called Extension and interfaces called IExtendable and IInitializable, IUpdatable, ILoadable, IDrawable (the last four are basicly the same). If Extension implements IExtendable interface, it can extend itself with different Extension objects. The problem is that I want to allow the Extension which implements IExtendable to extend only with Extension that implements the same interfaces as the original Extension. You probably don't unerstand that mess so I try to explain it with code: class IExtendable { public: IExtendable(void); void AddExtension(Extension*); void RemoveExtensionByID(unsigned int); vector<Extension*>* GetExtensionPtr(){return &extensions;}; private: vector<Extension*> extensions; }; class IUpdatable { public: IUpdatable(void); ~IUpdatable(void); virtual void Update(); }; class Extension { public: Extension(void); virtual ~Extension(void); void Enable(){enabled=true;}; void Disable(){enabled=false;}; unsigned int GetIndex(){return ID;}; private: bool enabled; unsigned int ID; static unsigned int _indexID; }; Now imagine the case that I create Extension like this: class MyExtension : public Extension, public IExtendable, public IUpdatable, public IDrawable { public: MyExtension(void); virtual ~MyExtension(void); virtual void AddExtension(Extension*); virtual void Update(); virtual void Draw(); }; And I want to allow this class to extend itself only with Extensions that implements the same interfaces (or less). I want to do this because when e.g. Update() will be called on some Extension which implements IExtendable and IUpdateable, it will be also called on these Extensions which extends this Extension. So when I'm adding some Extension to Extension which implements IExtendable and some of the IUpdatable, ILoadable... I'm forced to check if Extension that is going to be add implements these interfaces too. So In the IExtendable::AddExtension(Extension*) I would need to do something like this: void IExtendable::AddExtension(Extension* pEx) { bool ok = true; // check wheather this extension can take pEx // do this with every interface if ((*pEx is IUpdatable) && (*this is_not IUpdatable)) ok = false; if (ok) this->extensions.push_back(pEx); } But how? • IIS 7.5 refuses to load 64-bit assembly - possible CAS problem?

  Hi, I just downloaded the Orchard CMS, opened it up in VS2008 and hit F5: Everything runs fine. I then created a website in IIS 7.5 and pointed it to the web project's directory and set up permissions correctly (I hope). I downloaded the 64-bit version System.Data.SQLite as suggested here: Orchard Work Item 14798 and here: SO: Could not load file or assembly 'System.Data.SQLite'. The site runs in Full Trust. When I point my browser to the site running through IIS I get Could not load file or assembly 'System.Data.SQLite, Version=1.0.65.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=db937bc2d44ff139' or one of its dependencies. Failed to grant minimum permission requests. I don't know much about Code Access Security (if that is even what's at play here), so I am at a loss here. What am I doing wrong / not understanding / not seeing? How do I provide appropriate permissions and to whom / what? Is there any hope of ever deploying this application to a hoster where I am only allowed to run in Medium Trust? Any help, pointers or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. • Can FluentNHibernate be used with .Net4?

  I have a WPF application running with .Net3.5 using FluentNHibernate, and all works fine. When I upgraded to VS2010 I ran into some odd problems, but after changing to use x64 variant of SQLite it worked fine again. Now I want to change to use .Net4, but this has turned into a more painful experience then I expected.. First I met a problem which required that I set a [SecurityCritical] attribute. Fine - I fixed this. But the reason this was exposed was because an exception was thrown in the first place. And the exception thrown was the following - when calling FluentConfiguration.BuildConfiguration: FluentConfigurationException unhandled An invalid or incomplete configuration was used while creating a SessionFactory. Check PotentialReasons collection, and InnerException for more detail The inner exception gives us more information: Message = "Could not create the driver from NHibernate.Driver.SQLite20Driver, NHibernate, Version=2.1.2.4000, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=aa95f207798dfdb4." This is what I saw in my own project when moving to VS2010. I have tried changing Fluent to use the x64 variant of SQLite, but this doesn't change anything. Does it sound like it might be related to mixing of 32bit and 64bit assemblies? I see that there are also others that have seen this problem, but I haven't really seen any solution yet. Anyone out there using Fluent with .Net4 and SQLite - on a 64bit machine - successfully? Help! I'm lost...

• Using multiple Qt (SQL) Models

  I have a near real-time application that I am using Qt and an SQLite database to run. I am curious if it is safe to have two separate models access a database at once. I know 2 separate views can access a model just fine, but I can't find any document addressing this. I also realize that SQLite is thread safe for reading, so I don't see a real issue to doing this from the SQLite part of things... Basically I want to use a QSqlTableModel to do the real-time read and write in the background and at the same time use a QSqlQueryModel to give the user desired data. Since I may be doing lots of filtering in the background using the table model I can't use it as the main view as well. I have gotten this to work for the most part, but am not sure if this is the best way to do this. If the models act like multiple SQL queries I don't believe this should be an issue, but I would like to know from someone I bit more knowledgeable about this stuff since this is pretty new to me. • database on SSD: data only or the DBM program too?

  I plan on moving the data I use for statistical analysis (100-ish Gb) onto an SSD. The data is either sqlite single-file db's, or postgresql-managed data. The SSD is 240 Gb, 550 MB/s read and 520 MB/s write. Should I reserve that space for the data only, or would it be a good idea to install the operating system (Mac OS X) and the application directory (Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office and the like) on the SSD too? And would it make a substantial speed difference whether I also install the postgresql binaries on the SSD? I have plenty of other space (another 300Gb hard-drive, and a 1Tb one). Don't know the features of the non-SSD drives, though they're our standard equipment on all Macs, and they're definitely OK. Thanks.

  I have reviewed the previous questions on this and they don't seem to cover what exactly I'm looking for, before I start, I'm no server admin. I'm trying to help get this server up and active and I have got it all going with exception to the SQLite3. The phpinfo displays '--without-sqlite' '--with-libxml-dir=/usr' '--enable-xml' '--with-system-tzdata' '--with-apxs2=/usr/sbin/apxs' '--without-mysql' '--without-gd' '--disable-dom' '--disable-dba' '--without-unixODBC' '--disable-pdo' '--disable-xmlreader' '--disable-xmlwriter' '--without-sqlite3' ' can somebody please advise in simple terms what to do to activate this, I've attempted a yum install. • Dangers of the pyton eval() statement

  I am creating a game. Specifically it is a pokemon battle simulator. I have an sqlite database of moves in which a row looks something like: name | type | Power | Accuracy | PP | Description However, there are some special moves. For said special moves, their damage (and other attributes not shown above, like status effects) may be dependant on certian factors. Rather than create a huge if/else in one of my classes covering the formulas for every one of these moves. I'd rather include another column in the DB that contains a formula in string form, like 'self.health/2'(simplified example). I could then just plug that into eval. I always see people saying to stay away from eval, but from what I can tell, this would be considered an acceptable use, as the dangers of eval only come into play when accepting user input. Am I correct in this assumption, or is there somthing i'm not seeing.

• Why do I get a PHP 5.2.6 segmentation fault when using PDO_SQlite?

  This is an installation on ModWest's shared hosting. I have enabled both PDO and PDO_sqlite on the server and phpinfo() verifies both are running. When I access PDO itself, I'm fine, and getting a meaningful error. <?php $dbh = new PDO(""); ?> This gives me an "Invalid Connection String" error. But, as soon as I begin a connection string with sqlite:, I get a total crash. When I run via the webserver, I'm seeing NO error. When I enter a nonexistant filename, PHP does indeed create the file. I tried running the constructor via CLI and there I do get a simple error: Segmentation Fault I'm not seeing ANYTHING in the PHP 5.2.6 changelogs about this bug. Anyone have any additional troubleshooting steps? The OS is Debian 5.0.4

Search and download samples from the online Samples Gallery when the user has internet access. Browse the sample code files and learn the sample documentation of downloaded samples with or without internet access.   In addition to the "browse” function, the Sample Browser could further support “bookmark”, “learning notes”, “code review”, and “quick social sharing". Make full use of the new touch and Windows Store App UI to give developers a new “relaxing” code browsing and learning experience, anytime, anywhere.
