  • Dropdown menu disappears in IE7

    - by Justine
    A weird problem with a dropdown menu in IE7: http://screenr.com/SNM The dropdown disappears when the mouse moves to a part that hovers above other layers. The HTML structure looks like this: <div class="header"> <ul class="nav> <li><a href="">item</a> <ul><li><a href="">sub-item</a></li></ul> </li> </ul> </div><!-- /header--> <div class="featured"></div> <div class="content"></div> The sub-menu is positioned absolutely and has visibility:hidden, then it's set to visible using jQuery, like so: $(".header ul.nav li").hover(function(){ $(this).addClass("hover"); $('ul:first',this).css('visibility', 'visible'); }, function(){ $(this).removeClass("hover"); $('ul:first',this).css('visibility', 'hidden'); }); I had a problem with the dropdown hiding under other content in IE7, fixed easily by giving the z-index to its parent and other divs: *:first-child+html .header { position: relative; z-index: 2 !important; } *:first-child+html .content, *:first-child+html .main, *:first-child+html .primary *:first-child+html .featured { position: relative; z-index: 1 !important; } Now, I have no idea why the menu disappears when hovered over other divs, you can view the site live here: http://dev.gentlecode.net/ama/ubezpieczenia.html I would love any help, been staring at this code for ages now without any solution. I guess it's just me tunnel visioning already... Thanks in advance for any help!

  • jQuery : add css class to menu item based on browser scroller position

    - by antosha
    Hi, I have a menu: <ul class="menu-bottom"> <li id="m1" class="active"><a id="1" href="#"><span>Link 1</span></a></li> <li id="m2"><a id="2" href="#"><span>Link 2</span></a></li> <li id="m3"><a id="3" href="#"><span>Link 3</span></a></li> </ul> I want that depending of browser's scroller position, the "active" class goes the correct < li element. This is how I see it : if ($(document).height() == 500) { $('#m1').parent().addClass('active'). siblings().removeClass('active'); } if ($(document).height() == 1000) { $('#m2').parent().addClass('active'). siblings().removeClass('active'); } if ($(document).height() == 1500) { $('#m2').parent().addClass('active'). siblings().removeClass('active'); } I am not very familiar with jQuery Dimensions properties so this code doesn't make much sense, but I hope you get the idea. If someone could tell me how to make this work, it would be really cool. Thanks :)

  • Getting proper indentation using XMLBuilder in a helper

    - by Robbie
    I'm attempting to use a view helper to create some dynamic links based on if you're logged in or not. What I want returned, for sake of easy code readability, is: <ul class="right"> <li><a href="#">Login</a></li> <li><a href="#">Register</a></li> </ul> In the view helper I have this Ruby code: def loginh xm = Builder::XmlMarkup.new(:indent=>2, :margin=>4) xm.ul("class" => "right") { xm.li('class' => 'text') { xm.text("test") } } end In the view, the line that calls login helper is already indented 4 levels. Because of this, the first line gets 'skewed', so in the view I have: <%= loginh %> Which results in: <ul class="right"> <li class="text"> <text>test</text> </li> </ul> You can see it works perfectly, except for the first line. It would appear that the first line is affected by the indent before <%= loginh % is called. I can easily remedy this by removing the indentation prior to <%= loginh % - but in essence I'd be sacrificing code readability for markup readability. Which isn't what I'm looking to do. Is there any way I could remove the beginning whitespace?

  • jQuery slideDown: Parent element doesn't expand?

    - by bobsoap
    Hi, This issue occurs in our beloved Internet Explorer 7: I have a list of items, each with a hidden child div. When user clicks the "expand" button in any list item, the hidden div will expand downwards and push all content beneith it lower. This works just as it should in FF, Chrome, IE8 - but IE7 will not expand the parent element along with its children. This is noticeable because the top-most parent container has an absolutely positioned image at the very bottom (yea... rounded corners) - that doesn't get pushed down when the content expands. I'm guessing that's because of the absolute positioning... Just wondering whether I should attempt to code up some huge workaround in jQuery just for that (assuming I'm able to), or if this is a known issue of some sort. My HTML: <div id="container"> <ul> <li>Click here to expand <div class="hide"></div> </li> <li>Click here to expand <div class="hide"></div> </li> <li>Click here to expand <div class="hide"></div> </li> </ul> <div id="containerbottom"></div> </div> The CSS: #container { position:relative; } #container #containerbottom { position:absolute; bottom:0px; left:0px; } The jQuery is pretty much your everyday slide function: $('ul li').click(function() { $(this).children('.hide').slideDown(200); }); Any ideas?

  • Recursive list of lists in XSL

    - by Paul Tomblin
    I have a recursive nodes that I'm trying to set up for jquery-checktree. The nodes look like foo/bar/ID /NAME /CHECKED bar/ID /NAME /CHECKED /bar/ID /NAME /bar/ID /NAME /bar/ID /NAME /CHECKED /bar/ID /NAME /CHECKED Where any bar may or may not have one or more bar nodes below it, but any bar will have ID and NAME and might have a CHECKED. and I want to turn that into <ul> <li><input type="checkbox" name="..." value="..." checked="checked"></input> <label for="...">...</label> <ul> <li><input type="checkbox" name="..." value="..." checked="checked"></input> <label for="...">...</label> </li> </ul> <li>....</li> </ul> I can get the first level by doing: <ul class="tree"> <xsl:for-each select="/foo/bar/"> <li><input type="checkbox" name="{ID}" value="{ID}"> <xsl:if test="CHECKED = 'Y'"><xsl:attribute name="checked">checked</xsl:attribute></xsl:if> </input><label for="{ID}"><xsl:value-of select="NAME"/></label> </li> </xsl:for-each> </ul> But I don't know how to recurse down to the embedded "bar" within the "bar", down to however many levels there might be.

  • Drupal6: How to programmatically style a block?

    - by Fronker
    In Drupal6, I basically have a block (a hierarchical menu structure) that turns out like this in HTML: <div class="block block-menu_block" id="block-menu_block-1"> <div class="content"> <div class="menu-block-1 menu-name-menu-navigation parent-mlid-0 menu-level-1"> <ul class="menu"> <li class="leaf first menu-mlid-248 active active-trail"><a class="active-trail active" title="" href="/">Start</a></li> <li class="expanded menu-mlid-249 active"><a class="active" title="" href="/">Aktuell</a> <ul class="menu"> <li class="leaf first menu-mlid-259"> <a title="News und Presse" href="/news-und-presse">News and Press</a> </li>... What I would like to get is actually a lot simpler: <div id="topmenu"> <ul class="one"> <li>some main entry <ul> <li> some sub entry ... or maybe: <div id="topmenu"> <h2>some main entry</h2> <h3><a href="#">some sub entry</a></h3> <h3><a href="#">another sub entry</a></h3> <h2>another main entry</h2> So, keeping the structure, but being able to use simpler, even completely different tags, if and when needed. I think I understand from the drupal docs, that I am (maybe) looking at <div class="block block-menu_block" id="block-menu_block-1" ==> module := menu_block delta := 1 (?) regrettably, none of the suggested * block-[module]-[delta].tpl.php * block-[module].tpl.php * block-[region].tpl.php placed next to page.tpl.php has any impact (yes, I did clear the cache).

  • jquery keypress iterate through each loop?

    - by user239831
    hey guys, probably a simpel question, however couldn't find anything online. i have a list with search results and i want to be able to navigate through the list with my up and down keys. if (e.keyCode == 40) { //down //alert('down'); $('#searchresults ul li').each(function() { }); } if (e.keyCode == 38) { //up //alert('up'); } if (e.keyCode == 13) { //enter //alert('enter'); } the searchresults look like this: <ul> <li class="matched"><a href="link1">link1</a></li> <li class="matched"><a href="link2">link2</a></li> <li class="matched"><a href="link3">link3</a></li> </ul> So basically i just want to be able to navigate through my searchresults with the up and down keys. the selection of the current element should maybe just change the background color and when i press enter the linked and matched element is fired. any idea how i can iterate through the searchresults? thank you

  • Presentation Issue in an Unordered List

    - by phreeskier
    I'm having an issue with correctly presenting items in an unordered list. The labels are floating left and the related spans that are long in length are wrapping and showing below the label. I need a solution that keeps the related spans in their respective columns. In other words, I don't want long spans to show under the labels. What property can I take advantage of so that I get the desired layout in all of the popular browsers, including IE6? Thanks in advance for the help. My code is as follows: <ul> <li> <label>Name</label> <span><%= Html.Encode(Model.Name) %></span> </li> <li> <label>Entity</label> <span><%= Html.Encode(Model.Entity) %></span> </li> <li> <label>Phone</label> <span><%= Html.Encode(Model.Phone) %></span> </li> </ul> My CSS styling is as follows: ul { display:block; list-style-type:none; margin:0; padding:0; } ul li label { float:left; width:100px; }

  • jQuery image fader slow in IE6 & 7

    - by Jamie
    Hi guys, I'm using the following jQuery script to rotate through a series of images pulled into an unordered list using PHP: function theRotator() { $('#rotator li').css({opacity: 0.0}); $('#rotator li:first').css({opacity: 1.0}); setInterval('rotate()',5000); }; function rotate() { var current = ($('#rotator li.show') ? $('#rotator li.show') : $('#rotator li:first')); var next = ((current.next().length) ? ((current.next().hasClass('show')) ? $('#rotator li:first') :current.next()) : $('#rotator li:first')); next.css({opacity: 0.0}).addClass('show').animate({opacity: 1.0}, 2000); current.animate({opacity: 0.0}, 2000).removeClass('show'); }; $(document).ready(function() { theRotator(); }); It works brilliantly in FF, Safari, Chrome and even IE8 but IE6 & 7 are really slow. Can anyone make any suggestions on making it more efficient or just work better in IE6 & 7? The script is from here btw. Thanks.

  • How add class='active' to html menu with php

    - by meow
    Hello I want to put my html navigation in a separate php file so when I need to edit it, I only have to edit it once. The problem starts when I want to add the class active to the active page. I've got three pages and one common file. common.php : <?php $nav = <<<EOD <div id="nav"> <ul> <li><a <? if($page == 'one'): ?> class="active"<? endif ?> href="index.php">Tab1</a>/</li> <li><a href="two.php">Tab2</a></li> <li><a href="three.php">Tab3</a></li> </ul> </div> EOD; ?> index.php : All three pages are identical except their $page is different on each page. <?php $page = 'one'; require_once('common.php'); ?> <html> <head></head> <body> <?php echo $nav; ?> </body> </html> This simply won't work unless I put my nav on each page, but then the whole purpose of separating the nav from all pages is ruined. Is what I want to accomplish even possible? What am I doing wrong? Thanks EDIT: When doing this, the php code inside the li don't seem to run, it's just being printed as if it was html

What should I do to get correct position of main content?

  • Fancy Box to Popup an HTML Page from One List Item in an Unordered List

    - by nicorellius
    I have an unordered list: <ul> <li><a id="fancy_popup" href="popup.html" class="fancybox"> Popup HTML Link</a></li> <li><a href="other.html">Other HTML Link</a></li> <li><a href="other.html">Other HTML Link</a></li> </ul> And I have a jQuery script: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $("#fancy_popup").fancybox({ transitionIn : 'elastic', transitionOut : 'elastic', easingIn : 'easeInSine', easingOut : 'easeOutSine', speedIn : 400, speedOut : 200, titlePosition : 'inside', titleFormat : 'document.write("Fancy Box Title");', cyclic : true }); }); </script> This jQuery Fancy Box script works elsewhere, with a div that has the id="fancy_popup" so I thought why not add it to the anchor directly in this case... I'm trying to figure out how to apply Fancy Box so that when someone clicks the Popup HTML link above, a Fancy Box window pops up, according to the script. I've tried variations with placing the id on the li, on the ul and manipulating the script for these selectors to no avail. Any help is appreciated.

  • Is there a way to check if a div has the same class as an ancestor in jQuery?

    - by T.R.
    I'm looking to dynamically highlight a tab, if it represents the current page. I have: <style> #tabs li{bg-color: white;} body.Page1 #tabs .Page1, body.Page2 #tabs .Page2, body.Page3 #tabs .Page3{bg-color: orange;} </style> <body class="Page1 ADifferentClass"> <ul id="tabs"> <li class="Page1 SomeClass"> <li class="Page2 SomeOtherClass"> <li class="Page3 AnotherClass"> </ul> </body> As you can see, there needs to be CSS for each tab, so adding another page involves modifying both the HTML and the CSS. Is there a simple (DRY) way to check if two divs have the same class already built into jQuery? I ultimately went with this: <script> $(document).ready(function(){ var classRE = /Page\d+/i; var pageType = $('body').attr('className').match(classRE); $('li.'+pageType).addClass('Highlight'); }); </script> <style> #tabs li{bg-color: white;} #tabs li.Highlight{bg-color: orange;} </style>

  • CSS to create curved corner between two elements?

    - by Tauren
    My UI has an unordered list on the left. When a list item is selected, a div appears on the right of it. I'd like to have a curved outer corner where the <li> and the <div> meet. See the white arrow in the image below. To extend the blue <li> to the edge of the <ul>, I'm planning to do something like this: li { right-margin: 2em; border-radius: 8px; } li.active { right-margin: 0; border-bottom-right-radius: 0; border-top-right-radius: 0; } Is there a better way to extend the <li> to the edge of the <ul>? Obviously, I'll include the webkit and mozilla border radius CSS as well. The main thing I'm unsure about is that outer corner underneath the bottom right corner of the active <li>. I have some ideas, but they seem like hacks. Any suggestions? NOTE that the <ul> is indicated in grey, but it would be white in the real design. Also, I'm planning to use Javascript to position the <div> correctly when an <li> is selected.

  • Using innerHTML to add ordered list fails in IE

    - by Matt
    I'm using the following Javascript code to populate a DIV with an ordered list: // send script back in split list var scriptList = script.split("\n"); var finalScript = "<ol>\n"; var count = 0; while(scriptList.length >= count) { if((scriptList[count]=="") || (scriptList[count] == undefined)) { count ++; continue; } finalScript = finalScript + "<li>" + scriptList[count] + "</li>\n"; count ++; } finalScript = finalScript + "</ol>"; scriptingDiv.innerHTML = finalScript; In firefox, if i look in the DOM using Firebug, this correctly translates to the following and correctly displays an ordered list. <ol> <li>This is the first item in the list</li> <li>This is the second item in the list</li> </ol> In IE, it displays as if the </li> tags are <br /> tags and ignores all the other tags, like this: This is the first item in the list This is the second item in the list Do I need to dynamically add the ordered list to the DOM for this to work? As opposed to just setting the html code in the div using .innerHTML? TIA

  • Div appearing outside its parent, bizarre sizing problems...

    - by SLC
    I have a list, which is going to be a menu. I want to position it absolutely at the very top of the page. My code looks like this: <div id="sitenavmenu"> <div id="sitenavmenu-content"> <ul id="sitenavmenu-content-menu"> <li>Register</li> <li><%: Html.ActionLink("About", "About", "Home")%></li> <li>Contact Us</li> </ul> </div> </div> My CSS looks like this: #sitenavmenu { position:absolute; margin-left:300px; top:2px; width:500px; } #sitenavmenu-content-menu li { list-style-type:none; display:inline; padding-right:5px; font-size:small; } The problem I have is, if I don't position it absolutely, it looks fine. As soon as I position it absolutely (as it is shown above), the sitenavmenu div changes size, and although it shifts to the top, the sitenavmenu-content div appears below it. There is no other CSS as I have only just started, and I have checked padding etc. and everything is zero. I just can't figure out why it's not working, and I don't want to hack it. Edit: It's something to do with the height of #sitenavmenu. If I leave it, then the sitenav-content ends up horizontally centered in it, although #sitenavmenu is much taller. If I make them both the same size, so they should sit on top of each other, then the #sitenavmenu-content sits below.

The index.php include the elements header_registrated.inc.php, navigation.inc.php and main_container.inc.php index.php: <?php include("inc/incfiles/header_registrated.inc.php"); ?> <?php if (!isset($_SESSION["userLogin"])) { echo "<meta http-equiv=\"refresh\" content=\"0; url=http://localhost/project\">"; } else { echo ""; } ?> <?php include("inc/incfiles/navigation.inc.php"); ?> <?php include("inc/incfiles/main_container.inc.php"); ?> <?php include("inc/incfiles/footer.inc.php"); ?> header_registrated.inc.php: <?php include ("inc/scripts/mysql_connect.inc.php"); session_start(); $user = $_SESSION["userLogin"]; ?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"> <title>title</title> <link href="css/style.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> <script language="JavaScript" src="js/framework/jquery.js"></script> <script language="JavaScript" src="js/dropdown/window.js"></script> <script language="JavaScript" src="js/navigation/navigation.js"></script> </head> <body> </body> navigation.inc.php: <div class="navigation"> <ul> <li id="1"> <div id="menuImage1" class="menuImage"></div> <div class="menuText"><p>Punkt 1</p></div> <div class="navigationDart"></div> </li> <li id="2"> <div id="menuImage2" class="menuImage"></div> <div class="menuText"><p>Punkt 2</p></div> </li> <li id="3"> <div id="menuImage3" class="menuImage"></div> <div class="menuText"><p>Punkt 3</p></div> </li> <li id="4"> <div id="menuImage4" class="menuImage"></div> <div class="menuText"><p>Punkt 4</p></div> </li> <li id="5"> <div id="menuImage5" class="menuImage"></div> <div class="menuText"><p>Punkt 5</p></div> </li> <li id="6"> <div id="menuImage6" class="menuImage"></div> <div class="menuText"><p>Punkt 6</p></div> </li> </ul> </div> main_container.inc.php: <div class="mainContainer"> <div class="containerHeader"> <div class="contentHeader"> </div> </div> <div class="contentContainer"> <div class="content"> </div> <div class="advertisement"> </div> </div> </div> Now the divs content, cnotentHeader and advertisement (in file main_content.inc.php) is filled via ajax. Also the navigation has some jquery effects which also have to be the same after page refresh. navigation.js: $(document).ready(function() { $.get('inc/incfiles/content_container/header/1.php', function(data) { $('.contentHeader').html(data); }); $.get('inc/incfiles/content_container/content/1.php', function(data) { $('.content').html(data); }); $.get('inc/incfiles/content_container/advertisement/1.php', function(data) { $('.advertisement').html(data); }); var current = '1.php'; $(".navigation li").click(function() { var quelle = $(this).attr('id') + ".php"; // the current content doesn't load again if(current === quelle) { return; } current = quelle; // content $(".content").fadeOut(function() { $(this).load("inc/incfiles/content_container/content/" + quelle).fadeIn('normal'); }) // advertisement $(".advertisement").fadeOut(function() { $(this).load("inc/incfiles/content_container/advertisement/" + quelle).fadeIn('normal'); }) // header $(".contentHeader").fadeOut(function() { $(this).load("inc/incfiles/content_container/header/" + quelle).fadeIn('normal'); }) }); $(".navigation li").click(function() { $(".menuImage").removeClass("menuImageActive1"); $(".menuImage").removeClass("menuImageActive2"); $(".menuImage").removeClass("menuImageActive3"); $(".menuImage").removeClass("menuImageActive4"); $(".menuImage").removeClass("menuImageActive5"); $(".menuImage").removeClass("menuImageActive6"); }); $("#1").mousedown(function() { $("#menuImage1").addClass("menuImageClick1"); // new class on mouse button press }); $("#1").mouseup(function() { $("#menuImage1").removeClass("menuImageClick1"); //remove class after mouse button release }); $("#1").click(function() { $("#menuImage1").addClass("menuImageActive1"); }); $("#2").mousedown(function() { $("#menuImage2").addClass("menuImageClick2"); // new class on mouse button press }); $("#2").mouseup(function() { $("#menuImage2").removeClass("menuImageClick2"); //remove class after mouse button release }); $("#2").click(function() { $("#menuImage2").addClass("menuImageActive2"); }); $("#3").mousedown(function() { $("#menuImage3").addClass("menuImageClick3"); // new class on mouse button press }); $("#3").mouseup(function() { $("#menuImage3").removeClass("menuImageClick3"); //remove class after mouse button release }); $("#3").click(function() { $("#menuImage3").addClass("menuImageActive3"); }); $("#4").mousedown(function() { $("#menuImage4").addClass("menuImageClick4"); // new class on mouse button press }); $("#4").mouseup(function() { $("#menuImage4").removeClass("menuImageClick4"); //remove class after mouse button release }); $("#4").click(function() { $("#menuImage4").addClass("menuImageActive4"); }); $("#5").mousedown(function() { $("#menuImage5").addClass("menuImageClick5"); // new class on mouse button press }); $("#5").mouseup(function() { $("#menuImage5").removeClass("menuImageClick5"); //remove class after mouse button release }); $("#5").click(function() { $("#menuImage5").addClass("menuImageActive5"); }); $("#6").mousedown(function() { $("#menuImage6").addClass("menuImageClick6"); // new class on mouse button press }); $("#6").mouseup(function() { $("#menuImage6").removeClass("menuImageClick6"); //remove class after mouse button release }); $("#6").click(function() { $("#menuImage6").addClass("menuImageActive6"); }); $("#1").click(function(){ $(".navigationDart").animate({ top: "16px" }, 500 ); }); $("#2").click(function(){ $(".navigationDart").animate({ top: "88px" }, 500 ); }); $("#3").click(function(){ $(".navigationDart").animate({ top: "160px" }, 500 ); }); $("#4").click(function(){ $(".navigationDart").animate({ top: "232px" }, 500 ); }); $("#5").click(function(){ $(".navigationDart").animate({ top: "304px" }, 500 ); }); $("#6").click(function(){ $(".navigationDart").animate({ top: "376px" }, 500 ); }); }); My idea was it to work with if(isset($_SESSION['ajaxresponse'])) but I don't no how to do this. Please help me. I have the feeling that I've searched the whole web to find an answer.

  • Override one css class with another?

    - by user246114
    Hi, I have a list, with an li style defined. I want to replace the style of an individual element, but it doesn't seem to have any visual effect. Example: .myList li { background-color: yellow; } .foo { background-color: green; } <ul class='myList'> <li>Hello</li> </ul> When I add an item to the list, it has the .myList li style applied properly. I try now to remove all styles and apply the foo style to a single item (using jquery): $(item).removeClass(); $(item).addClass("foo"); the item does not change color to green though, but this reports the class is set to 'foo': alert($(item).attr('class')); so I guess I'm not understanding css rules here, looks like the li class definition is just overriding whatever else I do, however I want the reverse to be true, I want to override the li style definition with foo. How do we do this? Thanks
