  • WCF threading - non-responsive UI

    Hi everyone. I'm trying to configure some WCF stuff. Currently, I have a server which allows remote users to download files, and client. In the server, I use a ServiceHost class. I assume it should be running on a separate thread, however, the server UI (WinForms) becomes locked when someone downloads a file. Is there a way to manage the WCF threading model? Thank you!

    In BizTalk 2006 R2, is there some way to regenerate the reference to a WCF service that has been created using the "Add Generated Items / Consume WCF Service" option? I tried just re-running the wizard, but it creates new ODX, BindingInfo, etc. files, and breaks the solution, so that's not the way :-( Searched the web, but not found any references to how to update the references, just plenty on creating from scratch

    Well i have a WCF service and has to methods one that gives a list of a object and one that gives a list of objects.. the object returned from method one is part of the list from method two. Im using wpf and binding a combo box to the two the results.. but the problem is that the combo box dosent know how to compare the objects as WCF did not generate this for me.. is there some way to fix this??

I can't get it to view to display my data correctly, the toplevel items are shown but the childnodes are nowhere to be seen. More info: I have a wcf service that delivers a list of Categories with nested subcategories to my viewmodel (I made sure to explicitly include my subcategory data).     Is it required to use a RESTful service to be able to make a ajax call to a wcf service (for example: by using WebInvoke attribute on Operation contracts) Once a service is made RESTful by adding a webHttp binding on the service host, can the host have other endpoints as well? (wsHttp or netTcp) Is it required that the aspNetCompatibilityEnabled be set to true for a service that has webHttp binding (and can this setting coexist for other endpoints) I understand I can use both JQuery and ScriptManager for making WCF calls on the client. Why should I use one over the other?

    I have a Silverlight application that consists of a MainWindow and several classes which update and draw images on the MainWindow. I'm now expanding this to keep track of everything in a database. Without going into specifics, lets say I have a structure like this: MainWindow Drawing-Surface Class1 -- Supports Drawing DataContext + DataServiceCollection<T> w/events Class2 -- Manages "transactions" (add/delete objects from drawing) Class3 Each "Class" is passed a reference to the Drawing Surface so they can interact with it independently. I'm starting to use WCF Data Services in Class1 and its working well; however, the other classes are also going to need access to the WCF Data Services. (Should I define my "DataContext" in MainWindow and pass a reference to each child class?) Class1 will need READ access to the "transactions" data, and Class2 will need READ access to some of the drawing data. So my question is, where does it make the most sense to define my DataContext? Does it make sense to: Define a "global" WCF Data Service "Context" object and pass references to that in all of my subsequent classes? Define an instance of the "Context" for each Class1, Class2, etc Have each method that requires access to data define its own instance of the "Context" and use closures handle the async load/complete events? Would a structure like this make more sense? Is there any danger in keeping an active "DataContext" open for an extended period of time? Typical usecase of this application could range from 1 minute to 40+ minutes.     hi everyone, I have writed a primitive wcf (vs 2010) service and created proxy files by svcutil. Later I created a mobile project on vs2008 and added proxy files on project but this error occured. Error 1 The type or namespace name 'ServiceContractAttribute' does not exist in the namespace 'System.ServiceModel' (are you missing an assembly reference?) C:\Users\Abb\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\WCF\MobileService\MobileClient\Sample.cs the proxy files runs well on console application (vs 2008) but there is errors on mobile. System.ServiceModel doesnot support ServiceContractAttribute.

    Hi all, I'm trying to rewrite all requests for my Django server running on apache+WSGI ( inside my local network) and configured as the WSGI's wiki how to, except that I set a virtualhost for it. The server which from I want to rewrite requests is another apache server listening on port 80. I can manage it to work well if I don't try to enable SSL connection as the required way to connect. But I need all requests to Django server encrypted with SSL so I generally used this directive to achieve this ( on my public webserver ): Alias /dirname "/var/www/dirname" SSLVerifyClient none SSLOptions +FakeBasicAuth SSLRequireSSL AuthName "stuff name" AuthType Basic AuthUserFile /etc/httpd/djangoserver.passwd require valid-user # redirect all request to django.test:80 RewriteEngine On RewriteRule (.*)$ http://django.test/$1 [P] This configuration works if I try to load a specific page trough the external server from my browser. It is not working clicking my django application urls ( even tough the url seems correct when I put my mouse over). The url my public server is trying to serve use http ( instead of https ) and the directory "dirname" I specified on my apache configuration disappear, so it says that the page was not found. I think it depends on Django and its WSGI handler . Does anybody went trough my same problem? PS: I have already tried to modify the WSGI script . I'm Using Django 1.0.3, Apache 2.2 on a Fedora10 (inside), Apache 2.2 on the public server. Thanks in advance for your help. Fab

  • SSH Tunnel for Remote Desktop via Intermediary Server Part II

    I asked previously how to configure 2 SSH tunnels using an intermediary server in order to run Remote Desktop through them and I managed to make it work. Now, I'm trying to do the same, using the same machines, but in reverse order. Here's the setup: Windows 7 PC in a private network, sitting behind a firewall. Public access Linux server, which has access to the PC. Windows 7 laptop, at home, on which I wish to do Remote Desktop from the PC. I use Putty on the laptop to create a reverse tunnel from it to the Linux server: R60666 localhost:3389. I use Putty on the PC to create a regular tunnel from it to the Linux server: L60666 localhost:60666. I SSH to the Linux sever and I run telnet localhost 60666 and it seems to produce the expected output, as described in the debugging tips that I received here. I try to connect Remote Desktop from the PC to the laptop: localhost:60666. It asks for my username and password, I click OK and it locks my current session on the laptop (so I see the welcome screen on the laptop instead of my desktop), it shows the "Welcome" message in the Remote Desktop screen and then it just goes black. It doesn't disconnect, it doesn't provide any error and I'm not able to perform any actions in the Remote Desktop screen. I tried the same setup with a Windows XP laptop and I'm experiencing the same symptoms. I also tried to use different ports than 60666, but nothing changed. Does anybody have any idea what I'm doing wrong? Update: As pointed out by @jwinders, I'm not able to run telnet PC 3389 from the Linux server directly. Since Windows Firewall has a rule to allow all connections on port 3389, I have no idea what is blocking it. Fortunately, I'm able to create a SSH tunnel from the Linux machine to the PC ssh 3389:localhost:3389 'domain\user'@PC.

  • How to tell httpd to preserve the proxied error message?

    I have an httpd server proxying the requests to 2 different tomcat servers. One of my server handles the authentication and returns a specific http error code 521 when the user already have a running session. My issue is httpd automatically maps this 521 error code to a 500 (internal server error) and then my client can not handle it properly. I have tried to disable ProxyErrorOverride, to remove the /error/HTTP_INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR.html.var but it does not changes anything.   • Glassfish JSF/EAR Apache 2.2 proxy_ajp_mod Referred Content Missing (images/links/etc)

    Full disclosure: Since this seems to be more of a configuration issue, I deleted this from Stack (where it wasn't getting any response) and reposted here. The problem is how to change the requestContextPath served up by Glassfish behind mod_proxy_ajp. The site/app runs fine if connecting directly to Glassfish port 8080 which is ultimately not what I want to do. So I need help with configuration for my servers and jsf deployment. I can see the issue but don't know how to resolve it. It has to do with the requestContextPath. Simply put, Apache directs to http://mysite.com/welcome.xhtml which is correct and what I want, but the page is minus the images and styles. The issue is Glassfish itself is still pointing to http://mysite.com/myapp/*. So all links it serves in the app/site still refer via the requestContextPath. That is the /myapp/* part of http://mysite.com/myapp/welcome.xhtml. When I look in the page source, images which are referred to with relative links still point to the requestContextPath (that is, /myapp/). This is fixable but a real pain. However with page links I can't set the relative path. If I hover over the contact page link I see http://mysite.com/myapp/contact.xhtml, and if I click it, I get 404. You can see the /myapp/ context path in the page source as well. If I type in the URL http://mysite.com/contact.xhtml I get the page minus its referred links (requestContextPath). On Apache ProxyPass / ajp://littlewalterserver:8009/myapp-web/ ProxyPassReverse / ajp://littlewalterserver:8009/myapp_Project-web On Glassfish asadmin create-network-listener --listenerport 8009 --protocol http-listener-1 --jkenabled true jk-connector I have tried going in to Glassfish and setting the web app as the default web app. I have changed the / in glassfish-web.xml (and checked to make sure it was the same in the EAR file). How can I get Glassfish to not include the /myapp/ context in the URLs? This has to be easy if you know how, but I don't know how, can someone help out here? Thanks.
