• Problems loading controller from url with codeigniter?

  I'm currently in the process of putting up my first website for public use. I am using the codeigniter framework in order to do this, but I am having trouble loading the controllers from the url. I currently have the default codeigniter installment that you download trying to get things to work. The controller welcome is loaded by default, but when I try to load it through the url it doesn't work. I was having the same problem with the site that I had uploaded earlier.   Hi. I will build an application, that will be like a mix from a trojaner and a remote tool. It will be a spy programm for our company, so the IT Admin and Managment can see what the people are doing or not. (Only for explayning, please don't discuss about "uhhh tahts not ok"). I must choose a language for that. My best knowlegde is in C#.Net and VB.Net, but one main feature should be: No framework must be installed - so DotNet is out of the run. I decided to VB6 and a few minutes ago I ask for a IDE and some people say: Don't use it, it's too old. So, I must ask: What language do you prefer for such an project?

• C#, Using Custom Generic Collection faster with objects than List

  Hello, I'm using for now List< to iterate through some object collection and find matching element, The problem is that object has only 2 significant values Name and Link (strings) but has some other values wich I dont want to compare. I'm thinkig about using something like HashSet (wich is exactly what I'm searching for - fast) from .NET 3.5 but target framework has to be 2.0. There is something called Power Collections here: http://powercollections.codeplex.com/ But maybe there is other way? If not, can you suggest me a suitable custom collection?

• II7 integrated mode MVC deploy 404 not found on "non-Index" actions

  Hello. Once deployed parts of my web-application stop working. Index-es on each controller do work, other then that yields 404. I understand that nothing particular should be done in integrated mode. I don't know how to proceed with troubleshooting. Some info: App is using default app pool set to integrated mode. WebApp is done in net framework 3.5. I use default routing model. Along web.config in root there is web.config in /View folder referencing HttpNotFoundHandler. OS is Windows Server 2008. Any help is appreciated. Thx.

  We have a c# (3.5 framework) socket server which is a console app, after about 3000 connections (or less, it's quite random), we get an unhandled exception which crashes the app completely.   What is the best way for converting phone numbers into international format (E.164) using Java? Given a 'phone number' and a country id (let's say an ISO country code), I would like to convert it into a standard E.164 international format phone number. I am sure I can do it by hand quite easily - but I would not be sure it would work correctly in all situations. Which Java framework/library/utility would you recommend to accomplish this? P.S. The 'phone number' could be anything identifiable by the general public - such as * (510) 786-0404 * 1-800-GOT-MILK * +44-(0)800-7310658 that last one is my favourite - it is how some people write their number in the UK and means that you should either use the +44 or you should use the 0. The E.164 format number should be all numeric, and use the full international country code (e.g.+44)

  I'm diving in to iPhone development and I'm building an iPhone app that uses the Core Data framework and my first task will be to get the model setup with a few that will display it. Thus far, I have the model defined and my Managed Object Files created, but I don't have a database with any sample data. What's a quick way to create a DB that conforms to my schema?   I've got a simple class that gets most of its arguments via init, which also runs a variety of private methods that do most of the work. Output is available either through access to object variables or public methods. Here's the problem - I'd like my unittest framework to directly call the private methods called by init with different data - without going through init. What's the best way to do this? So far, I've been refactoring these classes so that init does less and data is passed in separately. This makes testing easy, but I think the usability of the class suffers a little.

  Many questions here on SO ask about custom classes. I, on the other hand, have no idea what they're talking about. "Custom class" seems to mean the same thing I mean when I say "class". What did I miss, back in the '80s, that keeps me from understanding? I know that it's possible to purchase a packaged system - for Accounting, ERP, or something like that. You can then customize it, or add "custom code" to make the package do things that are specific to your business. But that doesn't describe the process used in writing a .NET program. In this case, the entire purpose of the .NET Framework is to allow us to write our own code. There is nothing useful out of the box.

• Do Portable Class Libraries work with .net 3.5?

  I am running Windows 8 and have both Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate w/sp1 and Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate and I am trying to create a Portable Class Library that supports .net 3.5 and greater. When I first try to create a PCL I get a screen like this: I noticed that .net 3.5 is not in the list so I clicked on "Install additional frameworks" and found a Targeting Pack for version 3.5. But when I download and run "dotnetfx35setup.exe" nothing happens. And when I go back into VS and try to create a new Portable Class Library, it lists the same target frameworks as before. I have also turned on the Windows Features for .NET Framework 3.5 and am now out of ideas. Here is a screen shot in case I missed something else. Thanks,

• Need advice on multitab form in ASP.NET MVC

  Hi all, i need an advice on how to implement my form. I have a requirement: i need a form that spans through 5 tabs. Each tab has around 10 fields, some of them empty, some of them must contain data from db and be non editable. Each of these tabs must be a part of one form that is submitted to my controller. The question is: what is the best way to implement this? I was thinking about having partial views on each tab, each view would have its own model class. After form gets filled all data from all partials would go to action that will take care of all of it. Any advices? I am using ASP.NET MVC 1, Entity Framework 1, mvc extensions from Telerik and jQuery

• Can't add an object using EF and SQL Compact

  Hello, I have some very simple SQL Compact database. I would like to use Entity Framework to access the database but for some reason I can't add an object to this database using EF. I'd like for the #content_container to be a dynamic height since the height of #leftcolumn and #maincolumn change depending on the page you are on. From the framework of my css it should work fine, so I must be missing something in my .css file declaring these divs. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this will be a great learning experience for me.

  Hi, I want to create applications in windows that has complete portability (within windows OSes of course). I have tried using one application written in Visual C++ but I had a real tough time in making it run in other windows OS (like it required .net framework libraries to be installed). This put me on the back foot because I had to copy a set of DLLs from one machine to another and most of the time something works some does not. And I am TOTAL amateur in writing windows based applications since my technological forte is mostly Java. Where to kick off? (like which tools/IDEs to begin with since I am seriously into writing my own utilities/tools). I am open to clarification should you guys feel my question is vague/blunt. Thanks.

  I have a PHP web application environment. I am using Slim Framework as REST interface for my application. My application front-end is written using Backbone.js and jQuery. There is a utility (.jar file) which when I use command line makes a remote call (I guess this is a Web Service) which returns me the data. how do I best incorporate this into my webapplication described on top? My application front end will have a Button that should make an AJAX call to the REST Interface and fetch the data as JSON. My approach: PHP-REST interface url is: /api/phprestapi.php exists Add a JAVA-REST interface at url: /api/javarestapi.java (Perhaps) to separate these two Existing Environment: LAMP Stack on Ubuntu How do I achieve this?   In my JSP page I am using post method while submitting the page. So once I go from Page 1 to page 2. In Page 2, If I press F5 I am getting alert as "To display this page, Firefox must send information that will repeat any action (such as a search or order confirmation) that was performed earlier." I knew this question is a bit sarcastic but please give me an Idea. I can't change my method from POST to GET because I need to send large amount of data. Thanks in advance... Edited: In my Page1.JSP I call onClick function in that function I call action as "/page2servlet.do". Now, In Java side I use Spring Framework. With MVC Object I return to page2.jsp.   I found myself needing a simple generic interface, and I wrote it, but it turned out to be pretty much the world's simplest interface. I was wondering if it already exists by some other name. Does the structure of this interface look familiar to anyone? Have I reinvented something that is already standard? EDIT: I have a data object and a number of objects interested in receiving the data. Objects interested in receiving the data implement the interface, so that 'routing' lists and maps can send the data to them. The idea is full generalization in the routing, the routing will be data-driven.

I can't think of a way to check this myself, because I don't know which class may return a new instance from its init method. • Any ORMs that easily support access to raw table schema?

  I work with a ASP.NET UI framework that pulls fields for a particular screen off a database. These fields can be associated with particular data fields in another database for binding. The idea with this setup is that if a client needs a new column on a table, they can easily add it, and create a UI field that binds to it without any sort of application restart or recompile. The problem I've always had with this is that it has meant I'm always having to work with untyped datasets in my code. Are there any ORM libraries for .NET out there that could easily accommodate the requirement of being able to access arbitrary columns in the table schema over and above ones mapped to strongly typed fields?

  I am a javascript/java developer and I have been trying to figure out how the selenium webdriver automation framework uploads files from the file system. It is impossible to set a file input via javascript because it is a security violation. Yet somehow webdriver is able to do this with the following command: driver.setFileDetector(new LocalFileDetector()); WebElement upload = driver.findElement(By.id("myfile")); upload.sendKeys("/Users/sso/the/local/path/to/darkbulb.jpg"); driver.findElement(By.id("submit")).click(); So they are setting the value by sending keys to it? I don't get it. I have looked through the source code found here: http://code.google.com/p/selenium/source/checkout I am still not able to find where they do this. Edit: My question is not how to do this with selenium, but how did the selenium developers make this possible? How did they get around the security restrictions in javascript? How are they uploading the file?

• Is there any practical usage of Doubly Linked List, Queues and Stacks?

  I've been coding for quite sometime now. And my work pertains to solving real-world business scenarios. However, I have not really come across any practical usage of some of the data structures like the Linked List, Queues and Stacks etc. Not even at the business framework level. Of course, there is the ubiquitous HashTable, ArrayList and of late the List...but is there any practical usage of some of the other basic data structures? It would be great if someone gave a real-world solution where a Doubly Linked List "performs" better than the obvious easily usable counterpart.
