  I have an application which is making use of the RSACryptoServiceProvider to decrypt some data using a known private key (stored in a variable). When the IIS Application Pool is configured to use Network Service, everything runs fine. However, when we configure the IIS Application Pool to run the code under a different Identity, we get the following: System.Security.Cryptography.CryptographicException: The system cannot find the file specified. at System.Security.Cryptography.Utils.CreateProvHandle(CspParameters parameters, Boolean randomKeyContainer) at System.Security.Cryptography.RSACryptoServiceProvider.ImportParameters(RSAParameters parameters) at System.Security.Cryptography.RSA.FromXmlString(String xmlString) The code is something like this: byte[] input; byte[] output; string private_key_xml; var provider = new System.Cryptography.RSACryptoServiceProvider(this.m_key.Key_Size); provider.FromXmlString(private_key_xml); // Fails Here when Application Pool Identity != Network Service ouput = provider.Decrypt(input, false); // False = Use PKCS#1 v1.5 Padding There are resources which attempt to answer it by stating that you should give the user read access to the machine key store - however there is no definitive answer to solve this issue.   If you design a distributed application for easy scale-out, or you just want to make use of any of the new “cloud computing” offerings by Amazon, Google or Microsoft, there are some typical concepts or components you usually end up using: distributed blob storage (aka S3) asynchronous, durable message queues (aka SQS) non-Relational-/non-transactional databases (like SimpleDB, Google BigTable, Azure SQL Services) distributed background worker pool load-balanced, edge-service processes handling user requests (often virtualized) distributed caches (like memcached) CDN (content delivery network like Akamai) Now when it comes to design and sketch an architecture that makes use of such patterns, are there any commonly used symbols I could use? Or even a download with some cool Visio stencils? :) It doesn’t have to be a formal system like UML but I think it would be great if there were symbols that everyone knows and understands, like we have commonly used shapes for databases or a documents, for example. I think it would be important to not mix it up with traditional concepts like a normal file system (local or network server/SAN), or a relational database. Simply speaking, I want to be able to draw some conclusions about an application’s scalability or data consistency issues by just looking at the system architecture overview diagram. Update: Thank you very much for your answers. I like the idea of putting a small "cloud symbol" on the traditional symbols. However I leave this thread open just in case someone will find specific symbols (maybe in a book or so) - or uploaded some pimped up Visio stencils ;)

  I'm trying to do some COM interop and attempting to invoke the INetCfgComponent::RaisePropertyUi method. I've gotten to the point where I can enumerate devices and get a valid INetCfgComponent for the adapter that I want to display the UI for. However, I'm a COM newbie (let alone COM interop) so I have no idea what the third argument in RaisePropertyUi() is meant to be. I've tried passing in the INetCfgComponent object that I have, but that just results in a InvalidCastException. MSDN has the following to say about the argument: Pointer to the IUnknown interface. RaisePropertyUi retrieves from IUnknown the interface of the context in which to display a network component's property sheet. RaisePropertyUi uses this interface to restrict the display of the property sheet to the context of a connection.

Thank you ;) I have this little "application", and I want when someone type in a AutoComplete textbox for example "New" it automatically displays "New York" as a option and that (AutoComplete function) works fine. But I want when user type in full location (or AutoComplete do it for him) - that text (location) input is forwarded to a database search which then searches through database and "collects" all rows with user-typed location. For example if user typed in "New York", database search would find all rows with "New York" in it. When it finds one/more row(s) it would display them below. In images... • How to handle corrupt messages arriving on a socket?

  I've got a working socket handling mechanism, similar (but a bit more complex) to Qt's Fortune Example http://qt.nokia.com/doc/4.5/network-fortuneclient.html http://qt.nokia.com/doc/4.5/network-fortuneserver.html Now I'm wondering how to handle corrupt messages. Discarding the data is a start, but I need to discard up to a point I can start processing messages again. The corrupt message may be lost, but I need to be able to recover from it. I've got the following idea in mind: Put a fixed header at the start of each message, eg. 0xABCDEF01. When recovering, lookup this header and restart handling incoming messages. = Break off readFortune() on a timeout and recover = When encountering an inconsistent header, recover A huge blocksize is still going to be a problem. To fix that, I should be constantly checking whether or not I'm reading gibberish, but this is not always possible. I can also limit the blocksize on certain message-types. Any ideas on this? Any proposals on what to use as byteword?

This class reads the connection properties from a resource file and tries to make a connection to Oracle (thin connection). However, recently the database have moved to a RAC and now the application is unable to connect to the DB. • Android ListView background colors always showing grey.

  I have a ListView that I'm populating from a custom ListAdapter. Inside the Adapter (in the getView(int, View, ViewGroup) method) I'm setting the background color of the View using setBackgroundColor(int). The problem is that no matter what color I set the background to it always comes out a dark grey. It might also be worth noting that I'm using the Light theme. • IIS 7 can't connect to SQLServer 2008

  Sorry if this is the most seen question on the web, but this is my turn. I am trying to publish my asp.net mvc app on IIS 7 under MS Sql Server 2008. I am on a Windows Server 2008 virtual machine. I get the following classical error: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) Under SQLServer, Allow remote connections is checked. My connection string is: Data Source=.\MSSQLSERVER;Initial Catalog=mydbname;User Id=sa;Password=mypassword I also tried with no username/password and "Integrated Security=true". There is only one instance of SQLServer installed. I tried to access my web page locally and remotely. There is no active firewall on the virtual machine. Thx for your help.

I'm looking for an algorithm/software/method to extract significant terms/phrases from that table in order to build a new table with standarized skills.. Here are some examples skills extracted from the DB : Sectoral and competitive analysis Business Development (incl. in international settings) Specific structure and road design software - Microstation, Macao, AutoCAD (basic knowledge) Creative work (Photoshop, In-Design, Illustrator) checking and reporting back on campaign progress organising and attending events and exhibitions Development : Aptana Studio, PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, AJAX Discipline: One to one marketing, E-marketing (SEO & SEA, display, emailing, affiliate program) Mix marketing, Viral Marketing, Social network marketing. The output shoud be something like : Sectoral and competitive analysis Business Development Specific structure and road design software - Macao AutoCAD Photoshop In-Design Illustrator organising events Development Aptana Studio PHP HTML CSS JavaScript SQL AJAX Mix marketing Viral Marketing Social network marketing emailing SEO One to one marketing As you see only skills remains no other representation text. I know this is possible using text mining technics but how to do it ? the database is realy large.. it's a good thing because we can calculate text frequency and decide if it's a real skill or just meaningless text... • NSMutableURLRequest wont try to use 3G when 3G is not 'connected' in Reachability enumeration

  I won't bother posting any code because my code works fine when I launch Safari or something that turns on the 3G connection first. When I put it Airport mode, then put back OFF, I will get the behavior of a connection error saying No internet connection with NSMutableURLRequest. I've personally mailed apple about how the Ant gets turned on and off, and they said anything that uses their base CFSocketStream object will turn on the Ant, and I quote: "such as NSURLRequest".. BSD Sockets do not, just so everyone knows.. However, I assumed NSMutableURLRequest would fall into the category of 'Does', but it seems like it doesnt. It never succeeds for me when I cycle Airport or have the phone idle for a long time. It will ALWAYS succeed when I open any other network app first to turn the Ant on. Shall I be forced to do a dummy NSURLRequest call to turn this on; or has anyone been able to get this class working just fine? Remember this is just an implementation of NSMutableURLRequest to upload a file Async, and no other Network operations are performed anywhere; no ads, no version checks, no nothing.

But the debug output is never shown in LogCat.

  I need some simple databinding for a Spinner. I want to display 2 items for each dropdownitem. So when the user clicks the spinner I get a list like: ------------------- Name 123456 ------------------- Name 123456 ------------------- I understand this can be done when using a Cursor, according to the databinding info on android dev. Like: SimpleCursorAdapter adapter2 = new SimpleCursorAdapter(this, R.layout.my_custom_spinner_item_layout, cur, new String[] {People.NAME, People.ID}, new int[] {android.R.id.text1, android.R.id.text2}); However, I don't get my data from a database, so I don't use a cursor, I use a ArrayAdapter. Unfortunately it looks like there is no support for databinding with this adapter. Is there a way to do this?

  According to Obtain client MAC address in ASP.NET Application, it is not possible. I am not entirely convinced because whenever I connect to Tim Hortons WiFi, my MAC address is known. Occasionally, the network is slow and I see this URL like this before being redirected to the Connect page: http://timhortonswifi.com/cp/tdl3/index.asp ?cmd=login &switchip=172.30.129.73 &mac=60:6c:66:17:1a:83 &ip=10.40.66.229 &essid=Tim%20Hortons%20WiFi &apname=TDL-ON-NEP-02177-WAP1 &apgroup=02177 &url=http%3A%2F%2Fweather%2Egc%2Eca%2Fcity%2Fpages%2Fon-72_metric_e%2Ehtml So according to this URL, the site knows the IP address of the router, my MAC address, the IP address assigned to my device by the router, the network SSID, some other pieces of information, and the URL I was trying to access prior to connecting. There's two options: Tim Hortons WiFi Basic and Tim Hortons WiFi Plus, where the "Plus" option allows me to connect to any Tim Hortons WiFi access point in Canada automatically with this device. Registration requires an email address, so I'm assuming this is possible by checking the MAC address and storing it in a database that routers ping upon connection. More info here. According to the extension of this page, I can safely assume it is ASP. How are they obtaining this information?

But when I fire the function event from a Onclick Button the result is perfect but when I fire the same function event on the page load of the ReportViewer ..I do not get the result. About function , i am creating dataset, and adapter with Sqlquery from runtime passing the parameter value from a session in the query and binding the data to the labels. But as I said I want the result on the pageload event of the reportviewer.

• Android image click in horizontal page view

  I've implemented horizontal page view with many images. Is it because of horizontal page views?   Hi, I have a problem with my ListActivity, i use a thread to show a ProgressDialog where get a list of all installed applications. I turn it into a list adapter and than i want to set the listadapter of the activity but i can't do that from the thread. Recently strange errors have occurred. This does not happen for all users, just a few. • How does one use OpenFileDialog in C# in visual Studio 2010

  I have written a custom dialog (form) that I can use in a C# program that behaves much like a "File - Open" menu command and brings up a window where a user can select a file or directory. The question I have is this. It has "My Computer" as its root. How can I have it so that it searches on a Network? If the file or directory is located on a network. Or better yet, in Visual Studio 2010, is there some sort of canned FileOpenDialog that I can use right away? I tried calling the OpenFileDialog as described in the example code at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.forms.openfiledialog.aspx but the compiler does not seem to like DialogResult.OK as used in this line of code: if(openFileDialog1.ShowDialog() == DialogResult.OK) The compiler says: Error 1 'System.Nullable' does not contain a definition for 'OK' and no extension method 'OK' accepting a first argument of type 'System.Nullable' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) I tried using the namespace Microsoft.Win32 instead of System.Windows.Forms and neither worked. They both produced this error.

• What does SQL Server's BACKUPIO wait type mean?

  I'm using Sql Server 2008 ("R1"), with some maintenance plans that back up my databases to a network share. Some of my backup jobs show long waits of type "BACKUPIO". Of course it seems like this is an I/O subsystem limitation, but I'm skeptical. Perfmon stats for I/O on the production (source) server are well within normal trends for that server. The destination server shows a sustained 7MB/s write rate, which seems incredibly low, even for a slow disk. The network link is gigabit ethernet and nowhere near saturated. The few docs I've turned up about BACKUPIO indicate that it's not specifically a wait on I/O, surprisingly enough. This MSFT doc says it's abnormal unless you're using a tape drive, which I'm not. But it doesn't say (or I don't understand) exactly what resource is missing. http://www.docstoc.com/docs/24580659/Performance-Tuning-in-SQL-Server-2005 And this piece says it's not related to I/O performance at all. http://www.informit.com/articles/article.aspx?p=686168&seqNum=5 "Note that BACKUPIO and IO_AUDIT_MUTEX are not related to IO performance." Anyway, does anyone know what BACKUPIO actually means and/or what I can do to diagnose or eliminate it?

• Write asynchronously to file in perl

  Basically I would like to: Read a large amount of data from the network into an array into memory. Asynchronously write this array data, running it thru bzip2 before it hits the disk. repeat.. Is this possible? If this is possible, I know that I will have to somehow read the next pass of data into a different array as the AIO docs say that this array must not be altered before the async write is complete. I would like to background all of my writes to disk in order as the bzip2 pass is going to take much longer than the network read. Is this doable?
