  • Adding AllowPartiallyTrustedCallersAttribute To Paypal ASP.NET SDK

    Currently, I cannot use Paypal Pro on my host (GoDaddy) because it requires Full trust level. After digging in Google, it seems a workaround is possible by adding AllowPartiallyTrustedCallersAttribute to the Paypal assembly. I have seen code samples that use AllowPartiallyTrustedCallersAttribute in their AssemblyInfo.cs file, however, I've yet to run into a code example that also happens to be using PayPal. My question is where should the AllowPartiallyTrustedCallersAttribute be added in my project if my objective is to make the PayPal assembly work? I have tried adding it to my AssemblyInfo.cs for the project that contains the entire website, but I have not been successful. At this point, any insight or shot in the dark would be greatly appreciated. Even if someone could point me in the general direction of some documentation I would be grateful.   • Bullet indents in PowerPoint 2007 compatibility mode via .NET interop issue

    Hello. I've got a really difficult bug and I can't see the fix. The subject drives me insane for real for a long time. Let's consider the following scenario: 1) There is a PowerPoint 2003 presentation. It contains the only slide and the only shape, but the shape contains a text frame including a bulleted list with a random textual representation structure. 2) There is a requirement to get bullet indents for every bulletted paragraph using PowerPoint 2007.   • ASP.NET - Display Message While Page Is Loading

    I have a page that performs a long-running task (10 to 15 seconds) in the page_load method. I have client-side javascript code that will display a decent "page loading" animated gif to the user. I am able to invoke the JavaScript method from the code-behind, to display the "page loading" animated gif, however, the long-running task is hanging up the UI such that the animated gif doesn't actually display until after the long-running task is complete, which is the exact opposite of what I want. To test this out, in my page_load method I make a call to the JavaScript method to display the animated gif. Then, I use Thread.Sleep(10000). What happens is that the animated gif doesn't display until after Thread.Sleep is complete. Obviously I am doing something incorrect. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. Chris

    Our globalization mechanism stores error messages in a SQL 2005 DB. Some of the error messages are used as subjects on email messages sent to the development team. I to do next: Create a WebClient; Use WebClient's method DownloadData to get a source of page in byte array; Get string from source-html byte array and set it to the newsletter content. I already set the webconfig to point to my error but I just doesn't work. Perhaps you are looking for the source (or a dependency thereof) removed or is temporarily unavailable or has changed its name. Check the spelling of the URL.   • asp.net mvc ajax form helper/post additional data

    I would like to use the ajax helper to create ajax requests that send additional, dynamic data with the post (for example, get the last element with class = blogCommentDateTime and send the value of that last one to the controller which will return only blog comments after it). I have successfully done so with the help of jQuery Form plugin like so: $(document).ready(function () { $("#addCommentForm").submit(function () { var lastCommentDate = $(".CommentDateHidden:last").val(); var lastCommentData = { lastCommentDateTicks: lastCommentDate }; var formSubmitParams = { data: lastCommentData, success: AddCommentResponseHandler } $("#addCommentForm").ajaxSubmit(formSubmitParams); return false; }); This form was created with html.beginform() method. I am wondering if there is an easy way to do this using the ajax.beginform() helper? When I try to use the same code but replace html.beginform() with ajax.beginform(), when i try to submit the form, I am issuing 2 posts (which is understandable, one being taken care of by the helper, the other one by me with the JS above. I can't create 2 requests, so this option is out) I tried getting rid of the return false and changing ajaxSubmit() to ajaxForm() so that it would only "prepare" the form, and this leads in only one post, but it does not include the extra parameter that I defined, so this is worthless as well. I then tried keeping the ajaxForm() but calling that whenever the submit button on the form gets clicked rather than when the form gets submitted (I guess this is almost the same thing) and that results in 2 posts also. The biggest reason I am asking this question is that I have run in to some issues with the javascript above and using mvc validation provided by the mvc framework (which i will set up another question for) and would like to know this so I can dive further in to my validation issue.

  • Generate links for routes with non-parameter url segments on ASP.NET MVC 2

    I have a route defined with several hardcoded (non-parameter) segments: routes.MapRoute(null, "suggestion/list/by/{tag}", new { controller = "Suggestion", action = "List", tag = UrlParameter.Optional }); Suppose I'm in the Index view of SuggestionController, which has a Suggestion object for Model, how can I create a link that matches that route? I'd rather use one of the provided helpers and keep the route name as null in order to avoid hard-coding to much on my views, but I can't figure out how to user these non-parameter segments in Html.ActionLink or RouteLink methods. I've even tried to render the link using plain ol' html <a href="/suggestion/list/by/<%=Model.Tag %>"><%=Model.Tag %></a> but this somehow didn't match the route either. There's probably a very simple solution and I might be over-complicating things in mi mind, but I'm at a loss. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

  • .net difference between right shift and left shift keys

    I am currently working on an application which requires different behaviour based on whether the user presses the right or left shift key (RShiftKey, LShiftKey), however when either of these keys is pressed I only see ShiftKey | Shift. Is there something wrong with my keyboard? (laptop) do I need a new keyboard driver/keyboard in order to send the different key commands maybe... This is a pretty massive problem at the moment, as there is no way of testing that the code works (apart from unit tests). Anyone had any experience of the different shift/alt/ctrl keys?

The checkboxList is created dynamically on page load During the Ajax update (postback), the checkbox list is not populated form the viewstate, so I cannot get the listing to filter.   • Spring.NET. How actively is it being developed/supported?

    I've made my choice for the developement components on the .NET platform: Spring.NET for IoC and NHibernate for data access. But how safe is it? I've heard here on SO (don't remember which post exactly) that Spring.NET is on its way down, cause for example the Java original version is developed by a large number of people; but (they say that) the sole person behind the .NET version is Mr. Mark Pollack. Is that so? And, if so, does it still make sense to count on Spring.NET for my production applications? if you have similar information about NHibernate, I'll appreciate it; though it seems that the latter is actively supported.

    I notice that both of these compile without any compiler warnings or errors, even with Option Strict and Option Explicit both turned on: Dim x As Exception = New Exception("this is a test") Dim y = New Exception("this is another test") My question is, is it more proper to use the first way (see variable x) or the second way (see variable y)? My guess is that VB doesn't need the As clause since the variable is being initialized in place, so the compiler can infer the type. I tend to like the first way as it just "feels" right and is more consistent with other languages like C#, just wondered if there was some good reason for one way over the other. I guess it's really personal choice.

    Basically I posted a code snippet on a forum asking for help and people pointed out to me that using GoTo statements is very bad programming practise so I'm just wondering, why is it bad?   • How to structure controller to sort multiple criteria asp.net mvc

    Hi, What's the best way to set up a controller to sort by many (possibly null) criteria? Say for example, I was building a site that sold cars. My CarController has a function Index() which returns an IList of cars to the view, and details on each car are rendered with a partial view. What's the best way to structure this? Especially if there are a lot of criteria: Car Type (aka SUV), Car Brand, Car Model, Car Year, Car Price, Car Color, bool IsNew, or if I want to sort by closest to me etc... I'm using NHibernate as my ORM. Should I have just a ton of possible NHibernate queries and figure out which one to choose based on if/then's in the controller? Or is there a simpler way.
