• I want to try and find an RFC for Business Listings.

  I'm trying to figure out how to find out if there's a good standard format for sharing business information such as: Business Name Address - well-defined fields Lat,Lng Coords Business Type - maybe from a well-defined enum, my starting point contains Retail,Food,Drink,Coffee,Service Hours of operation - including a spot for 'except laksdasd' or 'sometimes we open late' which could be just plain language Business Keywords - don't know if this is asking too much. how well do http meta tags work in practice? So, if no such thing exists, is this something I can submit to IETF? I can't currently find it on http://www.rfc-editor.org/cgi-bin/rfcsearch.pl , and vCard doesn't suit my needs.. Thanks!

Analysis: This caused Internet Information Services (IIS) to assume that the worker process had stopped responding. Therefore, IIS terminated the worker process. Solution: 1. Open IIS manager. 2.Click application Pools>>select the application pool associated with the site>>and click Advanced Settings 3. Click Advanced Settings of the application pool and set the Ping Enabled property from True to False. Now, reattach the process from Visual Studio, you should not get the error message.   Is there any design pattern or practice recommended for business layer when dealing with multiple API version. For example, I have something like this. http://site.com/blogs/v1/?count=10 which calls business object method GetAllBlogs(int count) to get information http://site.com/blogs/v2/?blog_count=20 which calls business object method GetAllBlogs_v2(int blogCounts) Since parameter name is changed, I created another business method for version 2. This is just one example but it could have other breaking changes for which it requires me to create another method to support both version. Is there any design pattern or best practice for business/data access layer I should follow when supporting API Versioning?

• Why can't get past the user info screen when installing 10.10?

  I have a Dell Inspiron 1318 (07-08?) with an Intel Cored 2 Duo Processor and 3 GB of RAM. I can run Ubuntu 10.10 from the disk, but I've tried to install it three times with no success. As the files are installing, the program asks me to enter my user information. I'm fine through the time zone screen, and fine through the keyboard screen. But when it asks me to set my used name and password, the "next" button stays ghosted out no matter what I enter. Eventually, the installation gets to the point where it says it's waiting for me, but no matter what I do I can't get the "next" button to click. I'm a complete newbie, and I've been stuck at the same spot three times. If anyone has any idea what's going wrong, I'd love to hear about it.

  I would like to ask if there is any good program for ubuntu 12.04 to organize a library of books.I want to mention that I also have books written in my native language (Greek) and I have books written in other languages like English,French, etc too .So basically I need an application which can fetch information from databases for Greek books. For example - Adding a Greek (ISBN) book database source and when I type the ISBN of the book in the program ,it should find the book from that databases. Is this possible? I already tried Tellico and GCstar but they were unable to find books with Greek ISBN .I tried to add a Greek book source but it wasn't successful.

• Do I need to notify a user if I am using statistics software in an iPhone app?

  Hello, I am currently creating a (very simple) Objective-C client to send basic statistical data to my server for an iPhone app - just things like the state of the app (first-launch or launch, error, etc), along with the make/model/version (i.e.: "iPod touch 4.2"). No personally identifiable information or location data is sent. Is there anything, in the Apple Developer agreement or otherwise, that states that I must notify the user if I am doing this? I'm not interested in selling the data or anything, I just want to use the data to make my apps better. I am not adverse to telling the user I am doing this if it is required, I just don't want to scare the users (the paranoid "oooh, they're tracking me, they know exactly where I am" crowd) if I don't have to. • Set up Trendnet TEW-638APB Access point on Ubuntu 14.04

  I have a computer running Ubuntu 14.04, it has 2 Ethernet ports. I would like to set up this computer so that the internet comes in on one of the ports and is then shared through the other port with the Trendnet wireless access point that my other devices would connect to and use the internet. I have looked online for information on setting this up but have not been able to find anything. If someone could point me to a guide that would help me or just tell me how to do this in an answer I would really appreciate it. please help me to solve this problem

  I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 with ATI proprietary FGLRX graphic drivers When I boot, I can see this very quick message appearing; I don't have time to read it: **Fatal Error ..................................**(&@something i cant read) I searched through the log file in /var/log/ in order to find what is wrong and I did find something in the /var/log/Xorg.1.log: 21:31:08 [ 15.734] (--) using VT number 1 [ 204.647] Fatal server error: [ 204.647] xf86OpenConsole: VT_WAITACTIVE failed: Interrupted system call [ 204.647] [ 204.647] Please consult the The X.Org Foundation support at http://wiki.x.org for help. [ 204.647] Please also check the log file at "/var/log/Xorg.1.log" for additional information. [ 204.647] But this is already Xorg.1.log. And there is a Xorg.0.log also & Xorg.0.log.old but it doesnt have any error in it. My system seems to work properly and it seems its not affected by this But how do I correct this message? Any suggestions?

• Scan-Line Z-Buffering Dilemma

  I have a set of vertices in 3D space, and for each I retain the following information: Its 3D coordinates (x, y, z). A list of pointers to some of the other vertices with which it's connected by edges. Right now, I'm doing perspective projection with the projecting plane being XY and the eye placed somewhere at (0, 0, d), with d < 0. By doing Z-Buffering, I need to find the depth of the point of a polygon (they're all planar) which corresponds to a certain pixel on the screen so I can hide the surfaces that are not visible. My questions are the following: How do I determine to which polygon does a pixel belong to so I could use the formula of the plane which contains the polygon to find the Z-coordinate? Are my data structures correct? Do I need to store something else entirely in order for this to work? I'm just projecting the vertices onto the projection plane and joining them with lines based on the pointer lists.

• Why do recruiters contact you instead of the companies themselves? [closed]

  When posting my resume, I get hounded by recruiters who try to sell me on a job. Why don't the actual company HR employees contact me directly? My information is available for them to find. Wouldn't they save money by bypassing the recruiter fees? Out of the hundreds of recruiter phone calls, only 2 actual companies contacted me directly (and 2-3 other non-company individuals). Should the HR employees be let go if they are so irrelevant? (The careers exchange doesn't allow posting questions.)

The domain owner wants me to give him my Godaddy account information and send him the payment via Paypal gift, so that there will be no extra charges. Should this cause suspicion? • Installing linux on OCZ RevoDrive3 x2

  First of all, here is the configuration of my computer: Motherboard: Asus H87Plus RAM: Corsair Vengeance 32GB Processor: Intel i7 4770 Drive: OCZ RevoDrive 3 x2 (240 GB) (OCZ Revodrive3 is a PCIe module) I am trying to install the latest version of Ubuntu Desktop (13.10). The problem is that in the UEFI (bios) the drive shows up as a 240 GB drive, but in the Ubuntu installer it shows up as two 120 GB drives. If I install Ubuntu in any of these two drives, it never boots. The screen flickers a few times and comes back to the UEFI menu. I have tried reading up and have come across information that the drive has a "fakeraid", and the solution is to use dmraid. However, when I give the following commands in the terminal (from live CD): # modprobe dm_mod # dmraid -ay it says: no raid disks. And the following command: # ls -la /dev/mapper/ just shows /dev/mapper/control How can I install Ubuntu on my computer? what is the correct method?

  There are a lot of manuals. I am trying to create an database to hold information of these documents. But, there is a small problem. How can I give meaningful id to the manuals? Are there any standard or logic behind the giving meaningful id to the documents? If there is no standard, can you tell me how I should do that? example: table : manual id | manual name EDIT: Not Meaningful ID 1 or M1 or foo 2 C2 bar 3 P123 name ... ... ... (i) (ii) (iii) (i) Not meaningful for me because if some item deleted, there can be gap. ex 1 33 100. (ii) random character can be confusing when one try to give a name to new manual (iii) Why giving name is not preferred is because finding a name to the manual as ID is hard after 500 manuals. • Best practices for Persona development

  Over the years, I have created a lot of Personas, I've co-authored a new method for creating them, and I've given talks about best practices for creating your own, so when I saw a call for participation in the OpenPersonas project, I was intrigued. While Jeremy and Steve were calling for persona content, that wasn't something I could contribute -- most of the personas I've created have been proprietary and specific to particular domains of my employers. However, I felt like there were a few things I could contribute: a process, a list of interview questions, and what information good personas should contain. The first item, my process for creating data-driven personas, I've posted as a list of best practices. My next post will be the list of 15 interview questions I use to guide the conversations with people whose data will become the personas. The last thing I'll share is a list of items that need to be part of any good persona artifact -- and if I have time, I'll mock them up in a template or two.

• Issues With IIS Hosting Two Domains From Same Folder [closed]

  I have two different domain names that resolve to the same ASP.Net site. Both domains are hosted on the same server, which runs Windows Server 2003 and IIS6. The sites are differentiated in IIS Manager using host headers. However, both of the sites point to the same folder on the local drive for the site's page files. I am occasionally experiencing an ASP.Net error that says "The state information is invalid for this page and might be corrupted." I'm the site developer so I've addressed all the relevant code-related causes for this issue. However, I was wondering whether having two domains/sites sharing the same folder for an ASP.Net application might be causing this intermittent error. Also, is this generally a bad practice? Should I make separate, duplicate folders for each of the domains? Seems like that can become a maintenance headache.
