  • Can I get simple name resolution on the local network without DNS, on a Mac?

    I've got Mantis running on a Linux VM with a Win2k8 server host. I installed Samba with the following configuration: [global] workgroup = COMPANY netbios name = MANTIS security = share Now on all our windows machines people can simple go to http://mantis, rather than http://172.16.0.20. However, this doesn't appear to work on the Mac machines. Any ideas how I can sort this without changing anything on the Windows server?

  • IE9 GPO Setting "Configure Tracking Protection Lists"

    I've just installed IE9 on my workstations and Server in our network. According to technet article http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg699401.aspx There is a GPO setting for IE9 called "Configure Tracking Protection Lists" located at Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Privacy in the admistrative templates. I can find all the other IE9 settings in the GPO, but I cannot find this one. Does anyone know if there is an updated template, or if this setting was removed from the RC version of IE9?     I have recently installed windows 8 however i have found that when i try to look through the languages i cannot find the english version so i am now stuck trying to read french until i find out how to do it. I have tried the normal way of going through the language options clicking on the add language options, then looking for english, however this does not find english, If soemone could please link me to a download or try to find a solution this would be great Regards Jesse hayward

  • Trying to install mod_proxy in Apache-Httpd-2.2.15

    Hello, I have spent the afternoon trying to install the mod_proxy module into apache. I have tried ./configure --prefix=/opt/apache2 --enable-proxy --enable-proxy-http ./configure --prefix=/opt/apache2 --enable-module=proxy After it finishes installing, navigating to /opt/apache2/modules only shows one file: httpd.exp. It seems that the module is not being installed. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    I have a server with windows 2003, recently i installed a software in this server. When i restarted server my all files can't open sending to a command prompt saying: No program associated with ".exe" file extension. This occurred to all files types in system. When i go see file types association i see this: C:\WINDOWS\System32\WScript.exe "%1" %*, change result but when restart return to same. Any idea to resolve?

    Hello, I am using virtualBox with windows datacenter to play around with some web development. The last time I had to shut down the computer, it installed an update and shut down normally. When I rebooted, it started doing a checkdisk and processed a bunch of files (from hard poweroffs before mabey). Now when I start, I get a bluescreen of death every time it loads (Safe mode,etc) I have googled around for a boot / recovery disk, but can't seem to find one for datacenter. Cheers -Will

  • Issues with proftpd on ubuntu server

    I'm in the process of setting up a new server running Ubuntu 9.10 and I need to be able to access my web directory via FTP. I've installed proftpd, opened up port 21 and made sure it was up and running. Everything seems good, but when I try to connect via FTP from my personal computer to the server it times out each time. I've been stuck on this issue for a while now and I would appreciate any help. Any ideas???

  • Monaco font not antialiased in some GTK apps

    I have a strange issue with the Monaco font on Ubuntu Karmic. I have recently installed the Monaco font just to see what the hype is all about. The problem that I am facing now is that is not antialiased in some GTK apps (namely in Firefox and Eclipse), but it is antialiased in KDE apps (konsole) and in Chromium. I have hinting set to slight. Any help is appreciated.

Please install the compatibility libraries and rerun install. However i cannot find any documentation on what 32-Bit libraries are required or even where to start...   • How do I turn off accent combining in Windows 7?

    I have English Windows 7 Professional with Hungarian keyboard language installed. The English keyboard layout works as expected, but for the Hungarian layout some kind of "accent combining" is activated. The effect of this ^+o becomes ô, ^+a becomes â, etc. This is not helpful at all, since the accented characters of Hungarian are already mapped to keys, but it's really annoying because I have to type a non-combining character to actually get ^. Is there any way to turn this "feature" off?

    In Debian, I have installed memcached (using this guide) to lower the otherwise unmanageable load on mysql database. The database is on a separate server, and memcached and Varnish are on the front server. Is it a potential security hole to leave memcached unprotected by a firewall? If so, how should I secure it?   • Sysinternal's Process Explorer v14 doesn't show network activity

    The new version of Process Explorer shows network activity history, but it doesn't in one of my computers. This particular PC runs Windows XP SP3 and it has just been reformatted so everything is "fresh". I have even installed WinPCap and Microsoft Network monitor, in case some of these drivers were necessary, but the graph stays in 0. Any ideas why this could happen? I would ask in Sysinternal's forum, but I really don't want to register in yet another forum.
