This [servlet or jsp] must return an XML document [for future processing by my web-app].
That is not intended for end-users.
What is a better design: write a JSP or an XML ?
I know that MSTest doens't support RowTest and similar tests.
What MSTests users do? How is it possible to live without RowTest support?
I've seen DataDriven test features but sounds like too much overhead, is there any 3rd patch or tool which allow me to do RowTest similar tests in MSTest ?
From Jacob Nielson's "Stop Password Masking":
Usability suffers when users type in
passwords and the only feedback they
get is a row of bullets. Typically,
masking passwords doesn't even
increase security, but it does cost
you business due to login failures.
What do you guys think?
Microsoft, of Cairo fame, is working on Oslo, a new modeling platform. Bob Muglia, Senior Vice President of Microsoft Server & Tools Business, states that the benefits of modeling have always been clear.
In simple, practical terms, what are the clear benefits that Oslo bestows upon its users?
asp website with access database freezes for 30-60 seconds intermittently. The site is on an internal 2008 server. About 25 users access the site simultaneously. Is it just the limits of access or can i do something to improve the situation? change any timeout/refresh settings anywhere? or could it be a problem with the network?
Reading this question
different users get the same cookie value in aspxanonymous
and search for a solution, I start thinking, if it is possible for some one to really steal the cookie with some way, and then place it on his browser and login lets say as administrator.
Do you know how form authentication can ensure that even if the cookie is stoled, the hacker not actual login using it ?
Or do you know any other automatic defense mechanism ?
Thank you in advanced.
I am trying to use WCF Services as models for SQL Server Reporting Services 2005 reports. I can do this if I design the reports in the designer but cannot do it for a Reporting Model project which I think I need to make reports in the Report Builder.
My full requirement is to have a report builder that the users can use building reports based on DTOs supplied from my WCF service.
Thanks
Flash users have the wonderful SwfObject JavaScript library that abstracts browser differences to reliably embed swfs into their web pages. Is there a JavaScript library like this for Java Applets?
Hello,
I'm developing a solution in C# and I need to set permissions to some folders in the file system and in the Registry for IIS.
Is there a way to give permitions to the file system and to the registry for the IIS users, that work for all IIs versions?
For instance, in IIS 5 the user acount is ASPNET (I think that it has the IUSR_MachineName to), IIS 6 IUSR_MachineName and IIS 7 is IUSR.
Thanks in advance,
Paulo
social networking website probably maintain tables for users, friends and events.
how do they use these table to compute friends events in an efficient and scalable manner?
I'm hoping this is just a bug on Facebook's end that will be fixed soon, but in my Facebook Connect app I'm launching the dialogue FB provides to make a post. This dialogue is launched on a page with an SSL connection. In this dialogue the profile pic for some users comes up with a security warning while others display correctly. I'm already setup to use Facebook's SSL javascript file instead of the HTTP file.
i want to change theme_username, a core theme function that outputs that dreadful "not verified" string on users who are not logged in (when they comment, for example). i want a checkbox in admin/build/themes/settings/MYTHEME to change that. but since that theme function gets called a lot, will it hurt the performance of any site using my theme or are theme settings cached?
Is there a disadvantage to using a dynamic Python file to generate the CSS for a webpage? I'd like computers with an administrator cookie to show special admin panel CSS, and show regular CSS for all other users. I'm planning to use:
<link rel="stylesheet" href="/css.py" type="text/css" />
Hi Stackers!
I'm building an app that needs to send out notifications to users depending on user definable "notifications". So the notifications are not per event. They are arbitrary. A cron job should query the database and send out emails when it finds an event with matching criterion.
The is a scheduling app. So naturally, one of the criterion is time. I think I've figured it out, but I'm sure there are better ideas out there as it seems to be a fairly common thing to do.
I think I'll limit the users ability to "minutes before hand" to get notified as opposed to seconds or hours.
So I have an eventA and notificationA. notificationA should be triggered if an event is due within 45 minutes. So eventA starts at 17:30. The user should be notified at 16:45. But the cron job might not run exactly at 00 seconds. So when the difference is not 45 minutes and 0 seconds it is, say, 45 minutes and 5 seconds. Notification time is past. Email doesn't get sent. User misses event. Shugar.
We should also take into account that the cron job might take a long time to run. So maybe we should only trigger it every 5 minutes. So we need a bigger interval maybe.
So then my guess would be to say that:
if ((eventDueTime - now notificationTimeValue - interval) && (eventDueTime - now < notificationTimeValue + interval)) sendTheFrikinNotificationAlready();
It seems kind of risky if the there are thousands of notifications to send out. I guess I could make a thread for each notification and then a thread for each event that matches the criterion. That might help.
Does that make sense? Any other ideas? Thanks!
hey guys, im trying to run a python script after every 5 minutes using cron, inside the script is a django import

ImportError: No module named django

I'm creating a site where users can write articles and comment on the articles. I want to automatically check to see if a new article or comment is spam.
What are good libraries for doing this?
I looked at bayesian classifier libraries, but it seems that I would have to gather a large amount of samples and classify them all as spam or not spam myself...
I'm looking for something that can hopefully just tell me right out of the box.
I have a MySQL database with a field Name which contains full names. To select all people with last names ending in a particular letter, let's say A for this example, I use the following query: SELECT * FROM db WHERE Name LIKE '% A%'. However, this also selects users who have a middle name starting with A. Is there anyway to alter this query so that only a last name ending in A will be selected?
So I have a users table where the user.username has many duplicates like:
username and Username and useRnAme
john and John and jOhn
That was a bug and these three records should have been only one.
I'm trying to come up with a SQL query that lists all of these cases ordered by their creation date, so ideally the result should be something like this:
username jan01
useRnAme jan02
Username jan03
john feb01
John feb02
jOhn feb03
Any suggestions will be much appreciated
After watching in horror as the .net framework 3.5 SP1 bloated to whopping 231 MB I was amazed to see that .NET Framework 4 Full (x86) is only 35 MB and client profile just 29 MB...
My question is if .NET Framework 4 is in any way dependent on previous versions of the framework(s) being installed on the client machine or if my users will have to download only 29 (or 35) MB if I develop a Winforms or WPF desktop application in VS 2010 targeting the .NET Framework 4?
Hey Guys,
I'm trying to build a multi model form - but one of the issues, is I need to link the models within the form.
For example, lets say the form I have has the following models: Users, Profiles
When creating a new user, I'd like to create a new profile simultaneously, and then link the two. The issue is, if neither have been created yet, they don't have ID's yet - so how can I assign linking values?
Thanks!

I am using
JBoss AS 4.2.3
JBossSeam 2.1
My Problem is that I can login/logout with different users as long as I do not enter a wrong password for one user. If this happens it is not possible to authenticate any user. Authentication always fails.
If I delete the browser cookies everything works fine.
I have tried to set DefaultCacheTimeout and DefaultCacheResolution to 0 but without luck.
Why does JBoss cache wrong credentials?
I am using the following LogFormat in my httpd.conf:
LogFormat "%h %l %u %t \"%r\" %>s \"%{Referer}i\" \"%{User-Agent}i\" %a %t" combined
It's working ok, but for some reason the IP address is coming out as ::1. Is there a particular reason why Apache isn't logging the users IP address?
Thanks
I have been using Uploadify in my PHP application for the last couple months, and I've been trying to track down an elusive bug. I receive emails when fatal errors occur, and they provide me a good amount of details. I've received dozens of them. I have not, however, been able to reproduce the problem myself. Some users (like myself) experience no problem, while others do.
Before I give details of the problem, here is the flow.
User visits edit screen for a page in the CMS I am using.
Record id for the page is put into a form as a hidden value.
User clicks the Uploadify browse button and selects a file (only single file selection is allowed).
User clicks Submit button for my form.
jQuery intercepts the form submit action, triggers Uploadify to start uploading, and returns false for the submit action (manually cancelling the form submit event so that Uploadify can take over).
Uploadify uploads to a custom process script.
Uploadify finishes uploading and triggers the Javascript completion callback.
The Javascript callback calls $('#myForm').submit() to submit the form.
Now that's what SHOULD happen. I've received reports of the upload freezing at 100% and also others where "I/O Error" is displayed.
What's happening is, the form is submitting with the completion callback, but some post parameters present in the form are simply not in the post data. The id for the page, which earlier I said is added to the form as a hidden field, is simply not there in the post data ($_POST)--there is no item for 'id' in the $_POST array. The strange thing is, the post data DOES contain values for some fields. For instance, I have an input of type text called "name" which is for the record name, and it does show up in the post data.
Here is what I've gathered:
This has been happening on Mac OSX 10.5 and 10.6, Windows XP, and Windows 7. I can post exact user agent strings if that helps.
Users must use Flash 10.0.12 or later. We've made it so the form reverts to using a normal "file" field if they have < 10.0.12.
Does anyone have ANY ideas at all what the cause of this could be?
