  • Execute build task in Hudson with root privilages

    I have a build script which executes apt-get and therefore requires root privileges. What is the best way to run this script in Hudson? Currently the only solution I have found that works is to add an entry to the sudoers file for the user hudson like so: hudson ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD:ALL However, although my build script now runs without error in Hudson, I am not entirely comfortable with this solution. Is there a better way?

  • How to process requests twice in Apache

    In order to perform realistic tests for a new backend server, I'd like to process all Apache requests twice. So simply handle all the live requests with the old server, as it's done right now, but then also 'duplicate' the requests to a different virtual host, where the new backend is deployed, which will process the request and log the response. What's the best / most simple way to achieve this in Apache? (the backend is a FastCGI process)

    Hello, I have following setup in my conf file upload_set_form_field $upload_field_name.name "$upload_file_name"; but I want change chosen param name to: upload_set_form_field ($upload_field_name+"[name]") "$upload_file_name"; so I can get "attachment[name]" but this dont work.     What's the best way to keep packages up-to-date (ie with the last security fixes) without worried about major version update ? For instance, apache2 for squeezeis is 2.2.16 (https://packages.debian.org/source/squeeze/apache2) However, last apache2 version for the 2.2.x branch is 2.2.27 Test repository can't be used since they use the 2.4.x versions and I'd like to stick on the 2.2.x (to avoid migration issues) How would you handle this situation and how can I update to 2.2.27 ?

  • AD group authentication to view wordpress posts?

    I'm trying to set up a wordpress site using active directory authentication. One question that has come up is the ability to limit category/post/blog reading to specific AD groups. I've never seen this done and I haven't been able to find any plugins that seem to promise this functionality. It would seem that the best option is to just give a bunch of users a role with the read_private_posts capability, but I'm not sure this will do the trick.

What is the best way to set up alerting so that i receive an alert when a physical disk fails? Ideally i would like these alerts to be sent via email to a pre-defined address.   • Streaming audio from microphone to network

    I have the following problem: I want to stream the audio I record with one machine to another machine in the same network. It seems that vlc is the best shot at the moment. I was able to stream a music file via vlc but streaming the audio from the microphone the same doesn't work. EDIT If I enable play locally the captured sound is played. Even streaming to another instance of VLC on the same machine doesn't work.

    Hello, I try to configure a file-type item for .axd filetype. There I have troubles with the associated class for this file-type. E.g. I have tried it with "XML-document" (xml-informations are included at the files with .axd) but it does not work. The .axd file will not be opened with the associated application.   • How can I crop every page of a large PDF file?

    I have a 1300 page PDF file of a scanned book that was unfortunately not cropped when scanned. The actual book page dimensions are around 6x9", but each scanned page is 8.5x11", the size of the scanner bed. For much smaller PDF files I could throw it into Photoshop and crop the page, but this is a huge file. What is the best way to losslessly crop all of the pages of the file, in either Windows or OS X?

    Hi there, I have two servers running Ubuntu 10.10, placed at two different locations. One is production, and one development. I wondered, if any of you had experience with backing up, best practices and alike. I think a smart solution would be to backup the data on the production server to the development server. Also, I have looked into visualization, but it seems like an overkill, assuming the servers only server about 8 users in a small company.

  • Port-forwarding HTTPS web server

    I have port forwarded our front-facing IP to an internal HTTPS server. The browser does not connect. A wget command determines that the certificate is self-signed for the internal IP. Hence why the browser is refusing to display the page properly. What is the best-practice scenario for this sort of stuff? Thanks
