  • Simple CalendarStore query puts application into infinite loop!?

    Hi, I've been looking at adding iCal support to my new application and everything seemed just fine and worked on my Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard development machine without a hitch. Am I missing something crucial here?     I need to get the number of rows of a query (so I can paginate results). If I stop my "for" at the first iteration I can see the first div appended, but it seems that if my loop goes for three iteration the two previous are deleted. The console.log() display some "not-anymore" existing element. Any idea ?

  • How important is it that models be consistent across project components?

    I have a project with two components, a server-side component and a client-side component. For various reasons, the client-side device doesn't carry a fully copy of the database around. How important is it that my models have a 1:1 correlation between the two sides? And, to extend the question to my bigger concern, are there any time-bombs I'm going to run into down the line if they don't? I'm not talking about having different information on each side, but rather the way the information is encapsulated will vary. (Obviously, storage mechanisms will also vary) The server side will store each user, each review, each 'item' with seperate tables, and create links between them to gather data as necessary. The client side shouldn't have a complete user database, however, so rather than link against the user for gathering things like 'name', I'd store that on the review. In other words... --- Server Side --- Item: +id //Store stuff about the item User: +id +Name -Password Review: +id +itemId +rating +text +userId --- Device Side --- Item: +id +AverageRating Review: +id +rating +text +userId +name User: +id +Name //Stuff The basic idea is that certain 'critical' information gets moved one level 'up'. A user gets the list of 'items' relevant to their query, with certain review-orientation moved up (i. e. average rating). If they want more info, they query the detail view for the item, and the actual reviews get queried and added to the dataset (and displayed). If they query the actual review, the review gets queried and they pick up some additional user info along the way (maybe; I'm not sure if the user would have any use for any of the additional user information). My basic concern is that I don't wan't to glut the user's bandwidth or local storage with a huge variety of information that they just don't need, even if proper database normalizations suggests that information REALLY should be stored at a 'lower' level. I've phrased this as a fairly low-level conceptual issue because that's the level I'm trying to think / worry over, but if it matters I'm creating a PHP / MySQL server that provides data for a iOS / CoreData client.

  • How to use jQuery datepicker as a control parameter for SqlDataSource?

    I have the need to display a date in this format: dd/mm/yyyy. This is actually being stored in an ASP.NET textbox and being used as a control parameter for a select on the GridView. When the query is run, though, the date format should change to 'd M y' (for Oracle). It is not working. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?   • Is there a WPF "WrapGrid" control available or an easy way to create one?

    Essentially I want a wrapPanel, but I would like items to snap to a grid rather than be pressed up to the left, so I can get a nice uniform looking grid, that automatically consumes available space. WrapPanel handles the resize part. WPF.Contrib.AutoGrid handles a nice automatic grid. Anyone got a control that combines them? My use case is I have a series of somewhat irregularly shaped controls. I would like them to appear in nice columns so the wrap panel should snap to the next "tabstop" when placing a control

  • Any hosted versions of jQuery that have the 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *' header set?

    I have been working with jQuery recently and ran into a problem where I couldn't include it in a userscript because xmlhttpRequest uses the same origin policy. After further testing I found that most browsers also support the Cross-Origin Resource Sharing access control defined by W3C as a workaround for issues with same origin policy. I tested this by hosting the jQuery script on a local web server that included the Access-Control-Allow-Origin: * http header, which allowed the script to be downloaded using xmlhttpRequest so that it could be included in my userscript. I'd like to use a hosted version of jQuery when releasing the script, but so far testing with tools like http://www.seoconsultants.com/tools/headers I have not found any sites that allow cross-origin access to the jQuery script.   • Nginx with Passenger setup problems

    I'm trying to setup nginx webserver with Passenger support for Ruby on Rails application on Ubuntu 10.04 (on sub URI). All went fine until I tried to access the server/application from the browser.   • Using OpenVPN, yet netflix.com blocks access

    I have set up an OpenVPN server on a VPS in the USA and configured it to route all clients traffic through it. Everything seems to work fine regarding the VPN connection in gerneral. All ip lookup sites show me the us server's ip address and even hulu.com works(it won't work if you are not in the usa). But for some reason netflix.com says "Sorry, Netflix is not available in your country yet.". So I thought that netflix probably uses some more sophisticated ways to determine your location beyond just your ip address. But I could not find a way to get it to work until I dropped the idea of using a VPN and instead connected to the server via a simple socks tunnel with ssh by running: ssh -D 9999 user@serverip All I had to do was changing the key network.proxy.socks_remote_dns in Firefox from false to true to prevent DNS leaks and setting up the socks proxy. Then I could finally watch netflix.com. As a result I concluded that there is nothing in the browser(or something like system timezone) that tells netflix the location, so it has to have something to do with the OpenVPN config. After that I used tcpdump to log all the traffic on the server's network interface venet0 (OpenVZ VPS), visited netflix.com on the client while first connected to the VPN and then connected via socks tunnel and afterwards compared both outputs. The only thing that caught my eye was that while using the socks tunnel the server mainly used ipv6 to connect to netflix whereas it only used ipv4 when the client was connected to the OpenVPN server. But I don't get how that could make such a difference. So what am I missing? Is there a way to configure OpenVPN to also use ipv6 to connect to a website although there is only an ipv4 connection between the VPS and the client?   • Does the Microsoft SQL Server native client support IDBAsynchNotify?

    I'm working on some OLE DB code that runs queries on MS SQL Server via ICommand::Execute. I'm converting this code to operate asynchronously by setting the DBPROPVAL_ASYNCH_INITIALIZE property on the command before executing. I'd prefer to register a IDBAsynchNotify sink so that my code can be notified of events, as opposed to polling or blocking via ISSAsynchStatus. The documentation for ICommand::Execute does not show IConnectionPointContainer as an acceptable riid parameter, but the same document, when discussing the DB_S_ASYNCHRONOUS return code, suggests that it is possible to request an IConnectionPointContainer interface that I could use to register my event sink. When I call ICommand::Execute, passing IID_IConnectionPointContainer as the riid parameter, I receive the E_NOINTERFACE error. I also tried setting the DBPROP_IConnectionPointContainer property before Execute but I received the same results. If I have to, I'll use ISSAsynchStatus, but I'd much rather use IDBAsynchNotify. Is it possible?

  • Is it possible to access a Silverlight control via the COM automation model?

    What I'm trying to attempt is to access methods on a Silverlight control via the COM automation model. Theoretically it should be possible, as exposing the Silverlight control's methods as scriptable members exposes them through an IDispatch interface. I have been able to access the IDispatch interface through the automation model correctly but when I attempt to call a method on the exposed interface via Invoke it crashes. I was wondering if anyone knew whether this was expected behaviour, i.e. I'm violating some basic sandboxing requirement, or whether this should work and it is just something in my implementation that needs correcting?     Every night when I leave work, I lock the screen via ubuntu's "power" button in the top right hand panel. When I come to work in the morning, I'm greeted with the log-in screen.   • Can the Windows Media Player COM control play AVI files from memory (instead of from a file)?

    I have a C# app, and I'm looking at using the Windows Media Player COM control to play animation and audio. So far, the only way I see of programatically controlling what the control is playing is to set its URL property to point to some file (I assume there's some way to pass in a playlist). Is there any way the WMP can render an AVI that is entirely in-memory, like a MemoryStream or something? If so, can WMP skip from one AVI to the next seamlessly (i.e. no glitch in either the audio or the video as it transitions from one to the next)? If WMP only plays files, is there some way to cue up a list of the files in advance of play start? If so, can WMP be made to skip from one file to the next without a brief interruption? Any knowledge or links to knowledge would be much appreciated.

    I use an ActiveX control called TAPIEx enabling TAPI phone system integration using MS Access 2000 (+Visual Basic). I want to turn this Access database into a web app with the clients running Firefox (all on internal network). Since Firefox doesnt support ActiveX is it feasible for me to write a Firefox plugin that in turn utilizes the ActiveX control? With regard to how plugins work - Would I be able to call 'functions' of the plugin from page script (eg dial call specifying phone number, check if calls in process)? Would adding these functions to the Firefox right click menu 'globally' inside Firefox be easier? Hope you guys can help. Note I'm not a fulltime programmer; I just need to know how steep the learning curve will be or even if my idea is possible!     Hi, I'm trying to control Windows Services that are installed in a remote computer. I'm using the ServiceController class. I have this: ServiceController svc = new ServiceController("MyWindowsService", "COMPUTER_NAME"); With this, I can get the status of the Windows Service like this: string status = svc.Status.ToString(); But I can't control the Windows Service (by doing svc.Start(); or svc.Stop();). I get the following exception: Cannot open Servicexxx service on computer 'COMPUTER_NAME' That's normal, I suppose there is something to do with access permissions. But how? I've looked into Google but didn't find what I was looking for. However I often read something related to impersonation, but I don't know what that means. NB: The local and remote computers are both running Win XP Pro. Thanks.

    I have report in Excel format (Excel 2007) from Accountant department - and it has Groupping by Rows. + Client 1 300$ (group Bills by Client) |-- BIll 1 100$ |-- Bill 2 200$ So in Excel It looks like this in plain rows format (If I ungroup those rows): 1 Client1 300$ 2 Bill1 100$ 3 Bill2 200$ 1,2,3 - row numbers. So I cant Pivot these data to get Client-by-Bill-SUm report, because rows with Client Name are not Connected (that is necessary for Pivoting info by Client, Bills) with Bills rows after UnGroupping.
