  • Cross-platform, cross-browser way to play sound using jQuery 1.4?

    - by Erin
I'm trying to get jQuery to play a sound on element hover/click. (It's like a flash website without flash) I've tried the methods recommended in Cross-platform, cross-browser way to play sound from Javascript?, the jQuery Sound plugin and a couple of other tutorials without any success. I'm assuming this is because they haven't been updated since 2008. Does anyone have any recommendations?

  • How to install VC80CRT debug runtimes without full visual studio 2005?

    - by Ben L
I can't run a debug sdk application because it requires both VC 8 and VC 9 versions of the CRT. But it only requires visual studio 2008 for plugin dev, which is what I need. How do I install the debug runtimes from 2005 on to a Windows7 machine? I can't figure out how to make them run app local nor can I copy anything into the winSxS folder without a trusted installer.

  • How to get Augmented Reality: A Practical Guide examples working?

    - by Glen
I recently bought the book: Augmented Reality: A Practical Guide (http://pragprog.com/titles/cfar/augmented-reality). It has example code that it says runs on Windows, MacOS and Linux. But I can't get the binaries to run. Has anyone got this book and got the binaries to run on ubuntu? I also can't figure out how to compile the examples in Ubuntu. How would I do this? Here is what it says to do: Compiling for Linux Refreshingly, there are no changes required to get the programs in this chapter to compile for Linux, but as with Windows, you’ll first have to find your GL and GLUT files. This may mean you’ll have to download the correct version of GLUT for your machine. You need to link in the GL, GLU, and GLUT libraries and provide a path to the GLUT header file and the files it includes. See whether there is a glut.h file in the /usr/include/GL directory; otherwise, look elsewhere for it—you could use the command find / -name "glut.h" to search your entire machine, or you could use the locate command (locate glut.h). You may need to customize the paths, but here is an example of the compile command: gcc -o opengl_template opengl_template.cpp -I /usr/include/GL -I /usr/include -lGL -lGLU -lglut gcc is a C/C++ compiler that should be present on your Linux or Unix machine. The -I /usr/include/GL command-line argument tells gcc to look in /usr/include/GL for the include files. In this case, you’ll find glut.h and what it includes. When linking in libraries with gcc, you use the -lX switch—where X is the name of your library and there is a correspond- ing libX.a file somewhere in your path. For this example, you want to link in the library files libGL.a, libGLU.a, and libglut.a, so you will use the gcc arguments -lGL -lGLU -lglut. These three files are found in the default directory /usr/lib/, so you don’t need to specify their location as you did with glut.h. If you did need to specify the library path, you would add -L to the path. To run your compiled program, type ./opengl_template or, if the current directory is in your shell’s paths, just opengl_template. When working in Linux, it’s important to know that you may need to keep your texture files to a maximum of 256 by 256 pixels or find the settings in your system to raise this limit. Often an OpenGL program will work in Windows but produce a blank white texture in Linux until the texture size is reduced. The above instructions make no sense to me. Do I have to use gcc to compile or can I use eclipse? If I use either eclipse or gcc what do I need to do to compile and run the program?

  • XSD problem: The value of attribute on element is not valid with respect to its type

    - by Tom Brito
(First of all, I'm trying to learn how to handle xsd files, I know very little) I got this xsd, and just copy to Eclipse IDE, and it says there an error on line 26: <xs:element name="Issuer" type="dkx:IssuerType" /> saying: cvc-attribute.3: The value 'dkx:IssuerType' of attribute 'type' on element 'xs:element' is not valid with respect to its type, 'QName'. Any idea what is this? (as this is an example file, I'm assuming it is an independent file, hope it is)

  • jQuery Prototype conflict, alternative solutions

    - by lbolognini
I have a problem as I'm conditionally including the Prototype-based Lightbox script for IE6 as it works better than the jQuery plugin. Of course the two libraries conflict but the official solution is not really feasible for me as i would have to replace tons of $ with the alternative no-conflict syntax. Is there any other solution for me, keeping in mind that in my case it would be easier to have Prototype work nicely with jQuery than the other way around?

  • Is there a true all-in-one solution for PHP Development?

    - by Alex R
I'm looking for a "SINGLE INSTALLER" solution for PHP Development. Is there anything out there which will give me a nice IDE, Web Server, Debugger, Database, etc, on a single install image (*.msi or *.exe)? This of course would be completely opposite of Eclipse PDT, which requires you to search and locate a bunch of additional components which never quite work together.

  • Easy Slider 1.7 - Show any numerical slide as next

    - by Yourbudweiser
I am using Easy Slider 1.7 - jQuery plugin and have made many modifications. My slider contains 7 slides, numeric navigation and next and previous arrows. The only problem is the numeric navigation. When you are on slide 1 and click slide 5, for example, all the slides scroll by, one-by-one. I am having trouble modifying the code so that whatever slide you are on, when you click another slide, it is the next one. Sample here: http://www.weiserwebworld.com/slider.html

  • Symfony: Routing 'secure' and 'login' actions to another application

    - by Darmen
Hello, Suppose we have 3 apps - appMain, app1 and app2. Applications 1 and 2 are protected, they have is_secure: true and everything works fine with sfDoctrineGuard plugin. A behavior I want to achieve is when a user is not authenticated, current application to forward him to another one, say appMain with defined module and action. Is that possible? Or can someone tell me where to dig about security mechanisms in symfony?

  • Is there a good in-browser code editor?

    - by levik
We've all seen in-browser rich text editors, which allow you to edit colored/styled text in a WYSIWYG manner. But what about code editors, which automatically highlight code based on language rules as you type? Think Eclipse in a textarea (but without the refactoring support). Do such things exist? I imagine scaling would be a problem - larger files would be difficult to edit efficiently.

  • What's a good IDE to use for Lua?

    - by fenomas
I've got things minimally working in Scite... and a quick browse tells me that there is an Eclipse plugin and several other standalone editors, in addition to other general purpose editors with Lua capability. Out of that, what do people recommend? Particularly, what do people who program primarily in Lua like to use? Edit: Thanks for all the answers!

    - by sathya
Am using google app engine with eclipse IDE and trying to upload a audio file. I used the File Upload in Google App Engine For Java and can able to upload the file successfully. Now am planning to use REST web service for it. I had analyzed in developers.google but i failed. Can anyone suggest me how to implement REST Web services in google app engine using Eclipse. The code google provided is shown below, // file Upload.java public class Upload extends HttpServlet { private BlobstoreService blobstoreService = BlobstoreServiceFactory.getBlobstoreService(); public void doPost(HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse res) throws ServletException, IOException { Map<String, BlobKey> blobs = blobstoreService.getUploadedBlobs(req); BlobKey blobKey = blobs.get("myFile"); if (blobKey == null) { res.sendRedirect("/"); } else { res.sendRedirect("/serve?blob-key=" + blobKey.getKeyString()); }}} // file Serve.java public class Serve extends HttpServlet { private BlobstoreService blobstoreService = BlobstoreServiceFactory.getBlobstoreService(); public void doGet(HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse res) throws IOException { BlobKey blobKey = new BlobKey(req.getParameter("blob-key")); blobstoreService.serve(blobKey, res); }} // file index.jsp <%@ page import="com.google.appengine.api.blobstore.BlobstoreServiceFactory" %> <%@ page import="com.google.appengine.api.blobstore.BlobstoreService" %> <% BlobstoreService blobstoreService = BlobstoreServiceFactory.getBlobstoreService(); %> <form action="<%= blobstoreService.createUploadUrl("/upload") %>" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"> <input type="file" name="myFile"> <input type="submit" value="Submit"> </form> // web.xml <servlet> <servlet-name>Upload</servlet-name> <servlet-class>Upload</servlet-class> </servlet> <servlet> <servlet-name>Serve</servlet-name> <servlet-class>Serve</servlet-class> </servlet> <servlet-mapping> <servlet-name>Upload</servlet-name> <url-pattern>/upload</url-pattern> </servlet-mapping> <servlet-mapping> <servlet-name>Serve</servlet-name> <url-pattern>/serve</url-pattern> </servlet-mapping> Now how to provide a rest web service for the above code. • How to create picture slideshows in a rails project? Flash or otherwise

    - by Janak
In a rails project how would I create a picture slideshow? It could be generated as flash or use prototype or something else. I just want a series of images (as a sub-part of a web page, not be the whole page) to fade into each other, and to advance manually if clicked. It would be nice if I could do things like slowly zoom into the images I imagine there must be a plugin or something to handle this?

  • NoSuchMethodErrors say the darndest things

    - by keynan21
So, I'm working in eclipse were everything compiles and runs correctly. However, when compiling under ant for the build server, A large number of tests fail with a NoSuchMethodError saying: class A implements B interface B extends C C requires method getSyncID() // standard getter for an int field. A.java contains getSyncID() A.class contains getSyncID() and yet the Error is still thrown. Does anyone know how the hell this could happen? how to fix it.

  • Why do I get so many errors building my Android project with Ant?

    - by synic
Now that I sort of know my way around the SDK/API, I've switched from Eclipse back to my favorite text editor, which means I have to use ant to build my project, however: It seems every other time I compile the project, a lot of drawables get corrupted, resources lose their ids (resulting in NPEs in the code), or classes throw "Verify Errors". The only way to fix this is by removing the bin and gen folders, and recompiling, which is obviously annoying. Is there any way to avoid this? btw, I'm using ant 1.7.1, java version "1.6.0_20"
