    Hi, im just writing my own replace method for any weird characters and i used the ASCI value 0, null to replace unwanted characters, i was hoping for them to be 'deleted', but this doesnt work. A gap just appears in the string. What exactly does String.Replace() do when removing a character for ""? Does it shift them all down and then 'delete' the final character or something?

    When should it be considered dangerous to use a private field all over the place in the methods of your class? I mostly just create the variable and set it to a default value like null. Then in my methods reference it and set it to an instance of that object type from the methods. I don't know if my question makes sense but let me know if it doesn't and I'll clarify.

Is this true? and are there other such characters that will do this?

    Howdie do, This is my first time dealing with MySQLi inserts. I had always used mysql and directly ran the queries. Apparently, not as secure as MySQLi. Anywho, I'm attempting to pass two variables into the database. For some reason my prepared statement keeps erroring out. I'm not sure if it's a syntax error, but the insert just won't work. I've updated the code to make the variables easier to read Also, the error is specifically, Error preparing statement. I've updated the code, but it's not a pHP error.   • Unable to use getInt() but able to use getString() for a sqlite database

    I am using a cursor to access a sqlite database I have in my app. I am having trouble using the .getInt() on my database. My database is pre-created, and I have a few cursors that perform queries to interface with the information. Several of the columns in one of the tables are set as INTEGER type. I realize that sqlite has no built in check to make sure columns are indeed INT. However, when retrieving the data, I can use the .getString() function without any issues, but calling .getInt() causes the app to crash. Below is the relevant code.     I'm trying not to reinvent the wheel here...I have these four fields [tbl_Contacts].[FirstName], [tbl_Contacts].[MiddleInitial], [tbl_Contacts].[LastName], [tbl_Contacts].[Suffix] And I want to create a FullName field in a view, but I can't have extra spaces if fields are blank...So I can't do FirstName + ' ' + MiddleInitial + ' ' + LastName + ' ' + Suffix...Because if there is no middle initial or suffix I'd have 2 extra spaces in the field. I think I need a Case statement, but I thought someone would have a handy method for this...Also, the middleinitial and suffix may be null.

    I have a class includes.vb that holds some variables (sharing them with other pages) like: Public Shared pageid As Integer = 0 I then have a function that does some work with these variables returning them with values; Return pageid When I step through the code, the variables have values (while stepping through the function), but when they are returned to the page, they come back null. Do they loose value everytime a page is loaded? Can you suggest an alternative method? Thanks a lot.

  • How to check total cache size using a program

    so I'm having some trouble creating a program to measure cache size in C. I understand the basic concept of going about this but I'm still having trouble figuring out exactly what I am doing wrong. Basically, I create an array of varying length (going by power of 2s) and access each element in the array and put it in a dummy variable. I go through the array and do this around 1000 times to negate the "noise" that would otherwise occur if I only did it once to get an accurate measurement for time. Then, I look for the size that causes a big jump in access time. Unfortunately, this is where I am having my problem, I don't see this jump using my code and clearly I am doing something wrong. Another thing is that I used /proc/cpuinfo to check the cache and it said the size was 6114 but that was not a power of 2. I was told to go by powers of 2 to figure out the cache can anyone explain why this is?
