    Hi, Is there built in methods into .net framework to do the following: Get role GUID from user name/user GUID Get role name from role GUID So far I have been sending queries to the asp_roles and asp_users tables to obtain that information and I'm wondering if there is a nicer way of doing this? I have the following methods that I store in the ASPUtilities class: getRoleGUID(guid userGuid) { LINQ joins } getRoleGuid(string userName) { LINQ joins } getRoleName(guid roleGuid) { LINQ joins } Thank you EDIT: I have just looked into extending SQLMembershipProvider examples. Few examples completely override the SQLMembershipProvider, but I think what I'm interested is just adding few extra methods to deal with the roles by using LINQ. Is this feasible?

What I like about their comment system is that it's a simple open text field and once you click "Share" it then asks you to register. Question: Anyone know how to accomplish this same functionality with either Wordpress or Movable Type?

That means that user might not be logged in, so why are you using that ID to get there private info from the database? Shouldn't userid = authenticated_userid(request) be used instead to make sure the user is logged in? What's the advantage of using unauthenticated_userid(request)? Please help me understand what's going on here.

    I'm using a JQuery UI slider which has two handles (a.k.a range slider). I know how to style the first handle: .ui-slider-horizontal .ui-slider-handle {background: white url(http://stackoverflow.com/content/img/so/vote-arrow-down.png) no-repeat scroll 50% 50%;} But how do I style the second handle differently? When you set DataSourceID of GridView, assigned ObjectDataSource take care of such things as paging and sorting, but i don't have full control above databinding itself, on the other side when i set datasource of gridview in code-behind: protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (!IsPostBack) { testGridView.DataSource = testObjectDataSource.Select(); testGridView.DataBind(); } } Now i have full control, but i have lost the advantage of comfort sorting and paging.     I'm wondering whether I'm receiving the 403 errors because there are too many attempted connections being made to the webservice. If this is the case how do I get around it? I've tried creating a new instance of InternalWebService each time and disposing of the old one but I get the same problem. I've disabled the firewall and the webservice is located locally at the moment. I beginning to think it may be a problem with the credentials but the control tree is populated via the webservice at some stage. If I browse to the webmethods in my browser I can run them all.     I am trying to make a blackjack game where before each new round, the program checks to make sure that the deck has 7 cards per player. And if it doesn't, the deck clears, repopulates, and reshuffles. I have most of the problem down, but for some reason at the start of every deal it reshuffles the deck more than once, and I can't figure out why. Help, please.     A friend of mine has created a movie for my site, it's in .flv format. I've heard of the popular flash player called flowplayer, but I have a bad feeling such a player will not work on the ipad and other devices which do not support flash. Is there a way to play a video in the flash format through a non-flash player so that the content can be viewed on all devices? I'm open to any ideas.     Is there a way getting all countries, states,cities zipcodes/ in one single database. I have been looking all over. I discovered geonames.org, which has I guess all of the content. But there is no way to fetch that data directly. I am using rails. If there any helpers or Plugins, it'd be great. It would be awesome if there is a complete resource in any parsable format which I can use to get this database in place. Please recommend if you any thanks I do have the iso country code list but no States for some countries. Thanks in advance

    I have got a group of radio buttons that when clicked need to display a corresponding unordered list. I have got as far as showing the correct list according to which radio button is clicked but cannot figure out how to hide the other lists that need to be hidden. So if i click the second benefits radion then the second 'spend' ul will display and the other 'spend' uls will hide.     Should I use oAuth, for example LinkedIn or Twitter, as my signin mechanism for my app? It seems that most apps just use oAuth to connect other services to it, but they make you set up your own user/password after you use oAuth (including StackOverflow), and I'm not really sure why this is.   • Firefox Sprite Sheet Image Not Showing Up

    I'm trying to create a chat room with emoticons. When a user types an emoticon such as :) in the chatroom, the CSS takes the proper image off the sprite sheet. But my code only seems to work in Opera and IE (odd combination). It doesn't show in Firefox or Chrome (if you manage to hone in exactly where the image should be, you can find the image blank.gif which is used as the stand-in to place the background-url over). Does anyone know what might cause this in Firefox/Chrome?
