  • Package and Publish Web Sites with TFS 2010 Build Server

    To package and publish web sites with TFS 2010 Build Server, you can use MSDeploy and some of the new MSBuild arguments. For example: /p:DeployOnBuild=True /p:DeployTarget=MsDeployPublish /p:MSDeployPublishMethod=InProc /p:CreatePackageOnPublish=True /p:DeployIisAppPath="Default Web Site/WebApplication1" /p:MsDeployServiceUrl=localhost Does all the work for you! Unfortunately these arguments are not very well documented, yet. Please feel free comment with pointers to good docs. You can enter these arguments when editing the Build Definition, under the Process tab and the Advanced section: If you’re working with these things, I’m sure you’ve not missed the PDC 2009 presentation by Vishal Joshi about MS Deploy.   • iReport for NetBeans IDE 7.4

    A few days ago the iReport Team announced the new 5.5.0 iReport release. With it comes the latest iReport plugin for NetBeans IDE 7.4. The NetBeans iReport plugin is by FAR the most downloaded plugin on the NetBeans Plugin Portal. Here's a direct link to it: http://plugins.netbeans.org/plugin/4425/ireport I installed the plugin into NetBeans IDE 7.4 today and made this small (and silent) movie of the main cool features I found. Sorry it's a bit blurry, comes from conversion from MPEG to AVI. Many thanks to Giulio Toffoli from Jaspersoft for continually enhancing the plugin from release to release, it's really awesome, provides a massive bunch of reporting features, fully justifying the popularity of this plugin.   • Can't install libopenssl-ruby

    I'm trying to install ruby on rails and I can't seem to install libopenssl-ruby. I'm on a VPS and I've installed Jaunty as the newer releases don't seem to work very nicely. When I do: apt-get install libopenssl-ruby I get: E: Package libopenssl-ruby has no installation candidate Originally it simply said that it couldn't find the package but after wget'ing a deb form here: http://linuxappfinder.com/package/libopenssl-ruby and trying to install using dpkg I get this new error. Dpkg itself said that it couldn't install my deb as it depended on 'libopenssl-ruby'. Currently my sources.lst is this: ###### Ubuntu Main Repos deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ hardy main restricted universe multiverse deb-src http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ hardy main restricted universe multiverse Does anyone know what might be wrong?

Actually I wanted to take advantages of the new feature of Silverlight/Visual Studio 2010 for sharing assemblies (see http://blogs.msdn.com/clrteam/archive/2009/12/01/sharing-silverlight-assemblies-with-net-apps.aspx). Everything went fine until I try to share a custom collection (with custom business logic) implementing INotifyCollectionChanged. This modification has been made in the .NET Framework 4 (see https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/488607/move-inotifycollectionchanged-to-system-dll) so maybe it could be done in Silverlight too. If you think this is justifiable you can vote for it.

  • How do I generate mipmap .png and model .obj files for LibGDX?

    I'm playing a bit with LibGDX (OpenGL ES 2.0 wrapper for Android). I found some sample code which used prepared files to load models and mipmap textures for them, e.g., at https://github.com/libgdx/libgdx/blob/master/demos/invaders/gdx-invaders/src/com/badlogic/gdxinvaders/RendererGL20.java it reads .obj file for the model and RGB565 format .png file to apply a mipmapped texture to it. What is the best / easiest way for me to create these files? I understand .obj files are generated by a bunch of tools (I installed Blender, Wings3D and Kerkythea so far), but which ones will be the most user friendly for someone unfamiliar with 3D modelling? But more importantly, how do I produce a .png file with the mipmapped texture? The .png I looked at ( https://github.com/libgdx/libgdx/blob/master/demos/invaders/gdx-invaders/data/ship.png ) seems to include different textures for each of the faces, probably created with some tool. I browsed through the menus for the 3 tools I have installed but didn't find an option to export such a .png file. What am I missing?
