• How do I run JUnit tests from inside my java application?

  Is it possible to run JUnit tests from inside my java application? Are there test frameworks I can use (such as JUnit.jar?), or am I force to find the test files, invoke the methods and track the exceptions myself? The reason why I am asking is my application requires a lot of work to start launch (lots of dependencies and configurations, etc) and using an external testing tool (like JUnit Ant task) would require a lot of work to set up. It is easier to start the application and then inside the application run my tests. Is there an easy test framework that runs tests and output results from inside a java application or am I forced to write my own framework?

• How to vertically align text in a button with a background drawable?

  I had a simple button set up with a background image defined like android:background="?attr/button" where ?attr/button was a reference to a simple 9-patch png. Everything worked fine, text in the button was aligned correctly. Then I needed to have a different background for a pressed state of the button. So I changed that to android:background="@drawable/state_button" where @drawable/state_button is an xml with the following states <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <selector xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"> <item android:state_pressed="true" android:drawable="@drawable/button_pressed" /> <!-- pressed --> <item android:state_focused="true" android:drawable="@drawable/button_pressed" /> <!-- focused --> <item android:drawable="@drawable/button" /> <!-- default --> </selector> And after that I can't align the text properly. If I put android:gravity="center_vertical" the text is drawn about 1/4 of the button height from the top. I double-checked my 9-patch images, everything seems fine with them. And I also tried having regular pngs for the background, it also doesn't change anything.

On the other hand, the "translation" field can hold several languages like ES,PT,EN,JA,KO,etc... So I create a table ("words.translation", one field is "id" and the others ones are languages ids like "ES","PT",...). I'm sorry for this newby question, but I'd like to know a couple of things about this one-to-many relationship. How to join (or link?) this two tables in MySQL? What information does the "translation" field in the "words" table has to store? How is the sql query to get all the word information (JOIN syntax used?) Thanks for your patience.

• Compile error in java application using netbeans - linked project

  I have a project which has shared functionality between three other projects and have linked these to existing projects as I normally would using the add project functionality of the libraries folder. This all used to work however when I started up Netbeans yesterday it just wasn't working as in the other projects won't compile even though the projects are linked. It can recognise the packages - just the actual classes themselves were not recognised. I have checked the dist folder of the shared project and the Shared.jar file exists. Any suggestions?

• Javascript + PHP $_POST array empty

  While trying to send a POST request via xmlhttp.open("POST", "url", true) (javascript) to the server I get an empty $_POST array. Firebug shows that the data is being sent. Here is the data string from Firebug: a=1&q=151a45a150.... But $_POST['q'] returns nothing. The interesting thing is that file_get_contents('php://input') does have my data (the string above), but PHP somehow doesn't recognize it. Tried both $_POST and $_REQUEST, nothing works.   I am trying to run a batch file. the file is located here: C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\getfile.bat I use this in oracle forms 6i: first i assign this path to a variable: tmp_msg := 'C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\getfile.bat' then I use the host command: host( 'cmd /c' || tmp_msg, no_screen); This is exactly as I have it. It doesn't give me an error, but I don't get the result that I'm expecting. I'm actually executing java code in the batch file like so: java -classpath path;addedpackage.jar myClass I hope someone can help me with this. Thank you.

  Hi, I have an ASP.NET webform that has a listbox (lbxRegions) with multi-select option enabled. In my db, I have a table with an xml field that holds a list of regions. I need to populate the listbox with all available regions and then "check off" the list items that match the regions in the db table. The list options also need to be ordered by region name. So, I wrote the following code that works just fine -- no problems. But I was wondering if anyone can think of a better (more succinct, more efficient) way to have done the same thing. • How can I generate a FindBugs report that shows me the bugs removed between two revisions in the bug

  I am attempting to execute a combination of the FindBugs commands filterBugs and convertXmlToText, against a bug database that I created, to generate a report that shows me the all of the bugs removed between two revisions of the system that I am working on. Unfortunately, the resulting report does not show any bug details. It appears that the convertXmlToText throws away all bugs that are dead (aka inactive)... the exact set of bugs that I'd like to see.   Hi Everyone? I am trying to add a select box to the base of my create form that decides if an action runs from the controller...if that makes any sense? What I would like to happen, is if the select box is checked the project is sent to Freeagent. If not, the case just gets created locally as normal but without the Freeagent data being sent. If I use the above code, I get an exception caught error: SyntaxError in KasesController#new controllers/kases_controller.rb:114: syntax error, unexpected '\n' Any idea what I am doing wrong, also is it possible to make the check boxes checked as default? • How do I get Spotlight attributes to display in the get info window?

  I have created a spotlight importer for comic files. The attributes are successfully imported and searchable. The one thing that remains is getting the attributes to display in a file's get info window. It seems that this should be a simple matter of editing the schema.xml file so the attributes are nested inside displayattrs tags. Unfortunately this does not seem to be working. I simplified the plugin for testing. This is my approach: Generate pojo classes from my sybase database using hibernate in eclipse Use these pojo classes to generate the schema in mysql database Then somehow migrate the data from sybase to mysql I guess this approach should work???   I want to use image in a group definded in defs tag. But on Chrome nothing works. In Firefox only the .png file is displayd. Only Rectangle apears but with strange bug in Chrome.   Our server is overloaded with TCP/IP sessions, we have 1200 - 1500 of them. Most of them are hanging in TIME_OUT state. It turns out that a connection in TIME_OUT state occupies a socket until 60 second time-out is elapsed. The problem is that the server gets unresponsive and many clients are not getting served. I have made a simple test: download an XML file from the server with Internet Explorer 8.0 The download finishes in a fraction of second. But then I see that the TCP/IP connection is hanging in TIME_OUT state for 60 seconds. Is there any way to get rid of TIME_OUT waiting or make it less to free the socket for new connections? I understand why TCP/IP connection enters TIME_OUT state, but I don't understand why Internet Explorer does not close the connection after the XML file download is over. The details. Our server runs web service written in Perl (mod-perl). The service provides weather data to clients. Client is a Flash appication (actually Flash ActiveX control embedded in Windows application). • How to catch an expected (and intended) 302 Ajax response?

  So, if you look back at my previous question about Exchange Autodiscover, you'll see that the easiet way to get the autodiscover URL is to send a non-secure, non-authenticated GET request to the server, ala: http://autodiscover.exchangeserver.org/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml The server will respond with a 302 redirect with the correct url in the Location header. I'm trying out something really simple at first with a Chrome extension, where I have: if (req.readyState==4 && req.status==302) { return req.getResponseHeader("Location"); } With another ajax call set up with the full XML Post and the user credentials, But instead Chrome hangs at this point, and a look at the developer panel shows that it is not returning back the response but instead is acting like no response was given, meanwhile showing a Uncaught Error: NETWORK_ERR: XMLHttpRequest Exception 101 in the error log. The way I see it, refering to the exact response status is about the same as "catching" it, but I'm not sure if the problem is with Chrome/WebKit or if this is how XHR requests always handle redirects. I'm not sure how to catch this so that I can get still get the headers from the response. Or would it be possible to set up a secondary XHR such that when it gets the 302, it sends a totally different request? Quick Update I just changed it so that it doesn't check the response code: if (req.readyState==4) { return req.getResponseHeader("Location"); } and instead when I alert out the value it's null. and there is still the same error and no response in the dev console. SO it seems like it either doesn't track 302 responses as responses, or something happens after that wipes that response out?

• JUnit4 + Eclipse "An internal error occured during Launching"

  Hello I'm trying to run JUnit4 test cases on Eclipse 3.4.2 but it's not even starting for me. I am sure that I properly have junit-4.7.jar in my build path and the test application. Here is a simple example that illustrates my problem package test; import org.junit.Before; import org.junit.Test; public class UTest { @Test public void test() { } @Before public void setUp() throws Exception { } } This compiles fine Then I do "Run JUnit Test case" from Eclipse and I get an error dialog with this message "Launching UTest' has encountered a problem An internal error occurred during: "Launching UTest". java.lang.NullPointerException I'm not sure how to figure out what exactly generating this NullPointerException. Some pointers would be appreciated
