  • What's the best way to migrate SELECT applications and data from an old Mac to a one?

    I know I can make an easy transfer of everything using time machine, but I'm trying to transfer the minimum necessary to the new computer (applications I currently use, Aperture database, etc.) in order to keep the new machine as clean as possible, and avoid starting out with any legacy problems with permissions, etc. Clearly, I can copy individual apps and databases to an external drive and then install them on the new machine, but I'm trying to find an easier way.

  • Calculate using an Averaged coumn in a pivot

    Hi, I have a pivot which includes goals and year results. Because goal is the same on each meausure, I have to average the goal in the pivot in order to show the correct amount. I then want to calculate v% between the goal and the year result. Because the goal is averaged, v% cannot be calculated correctly. Does anyone know of a way to do calcuation like this in a pivot?     if i have the below ip 168.144.254.X and i would like to add a ptr record in amazon in the form of X.254.144.168.in-addr.arpa what should be in the name field and what should be in the value field i have a zone created with a name like mydomain.com which host the DNS records for my ip. amazon wont let me add a value of X.254.144.168.in-addr.arpa in the name field do i need to create a new zone for the ip in order to allow this?

  • Overcoming maximum file path length restrictions in Windows

    One of our customers habitually use very long path names (several nested folders, with long names) and we routinely encounter "user education issues" in order to shorten the path to less than 260 characters. Is there a technical solution available, can we flick some sort of switch in Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2 to say "yeah just ignore these historical problems, and make +260 character path name work". P.S. I have read and been totally unedified by Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces

    Hello, I just found out by using TCPView that one of my svchost.exe had an http connection in "CLOSE_WAIT" to a strange ip address, although no other visible program was running. With the help of Process Explorer I discovered that this svchost was using the WebClient windows service. I'm wondering how I can figure out what program used WebClient to connect to this ip, in order to determine if it's malware.

  • How to export a brochure into PDF with each layout as a page?

    I have created a 3-fold brochure in Mac iWork - Pages. If I print the brochure then I can 3-fold it and everything is fine. But if I want to export as PDF then I get a 2-A4 size pages, and this distorts the user the order of the pages, I would like to export each layout as a separate page. The 'Layout Break' option is diabled and I don't know how to enable it? Any ideas? Thanks.

Specifically, is it possible to specify the keys for certain query string parameters and have it only append those name value pairs.   • Give the www user chmod permissions

    Ive got a website (run on Ubuntu Server) that needs to modify and delete files, every now and again it comes across a file that it needs to run "chmod" on in order to perform it's operations. However it seems as tho the 'www' user does not have permission to run 'chmod' on any files. So I'm looking for the command to allow the 'www' user to do its thing on files inside the /var/www folder and also the /var/logs folder for example. Thanks.

  • Sorting by Folder and Received in Outlook 2010

    I want to sort my Unread Mail folder by Folder and within that by Recieved (oldest on top). I've found that by clicking the "In Folder" header, holding down Shift and clicking Received twice I can get the sort I want but if I leave that view (for example checking the calendar) and then return that the sort order has not kept things as I expect. Looking in the View Settings Sort it shows "In Folder (ascending), Received (ascending)" but that doesn't create the same view as using the shift button...

    I'm running XP and I've tried to install Windows 95 and 98 with the official CDs in Virtualbox. Both of them give the error: FATAL: no bootable medium found! System Halted I've mounted the CD drives within Virtualbox and also tried to change the boot order so that the CD drive is first but to no avail. I don't understand exactly what's going on here.

    Hello There, this is my first Serverfault Question: I found myself this afternoon Setting up a Win Server 2008 R2 system for use with Team foundation source code control, and in order to give team-mates right to connect, i had to create user account for each of them (10 persons) (I can't and I don't want to create a domain). The point is that, after that, all that user accounts are showing in the login screen. Can i set those accounts to not show there? How? Thanks in advance

I'm having a problem running Apache + Subversion with SSL behind an Nginx proxy and I'm hoping someone might have the answer. I've scoured google for hours looking for the answer to my problem and can't seem to figure it out. What I'm seeing are "502 (Bad Gateway)" errors when trying to MOVE or COPY using subversion; however, checkouts and commits work fine. Example: You drag desktop folder to the taskbar, and jumplist, is it's contents. I know about applications like JumpLaunch, but I do not want to manually modify anything in order to display folder contents.

    have a dell vostro 1520, installed an external usb keyboard which works fine but the laptop's keyboard does not work properly. in the log in screen everything works as it should, once logged in the keyboard breaks. keys that have an alternate symbol accessible with the FN key render it by default. Meaning i have to press the FN key for it to render the proper ones- p has the * as FN, in order to get the p i have to press p+FN.

    In MS Outlook 2007/2010, it's possible to show multiple calendars overlayed on each other (a la Google Calendar; see http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/view-calendars-side-by-side-or-overlaid-HA001230157.aspx#BM4). However, it appears that in order to do this, you must first open the calendars side-by-side and then press the little left-arrow button to "combine" them into an overlaid view. Is there a way to make "overlaid" the default view for multiple calendars (again, a la Google Calendar)?

    I am trying to customize the way image folders appear in Win7 explorer, but I can't seem to get it under control. Is there a way to force it to always pick the first image in the folder as the preview image? Explorer has perfectly fine natural sort order. I don't understand why it messes it up by picking semi-random images. Thanks!
