Help me with a solution for what could be solutioned by virtual static fields... in FPC

Hi I'm doing an event manager in Freepascal Each event is an object type TEvent (=object), each kind of event must derive from this class. Events are differentiated by an integer identificator, assigned dynamically. The problem is that i want to retrieve the event id of an instance, and i can't do it well. All instances of a class(object) have a unique id = so it should be static field. All classes have a diferent id = so it should be virtual. Event ids are assignated in run time, and can change = so it can't be a simple method In sum, I can't put all this together. I'm looking for an elegant solution, i don't want to write a hardcoded table, actualizing it in every constructor... etc, i'd prefer something taking advantage of the polymorphism Can anyone help me with another technical or design solution? I remark I don't want to use class instead of object construct.(property doesn't work on objects? :(

innerHTML removes attribute quotes in Internet Explorer

How to change values of ListView elements in Codebehind

Hello, I'm trying to create a table with Listview and one of the fields I'm using is supposed to show a hyperlink to a more detailed view of the data shown, how I want to do that is by using FindControl on the ID of that item and then changing the value into a hyperlink of the detailed view page with a querystring attached, the problem is that I have no idea how to re-insert that data back into the listview field, which looks something like this: <ItemTemplate> <td> <asp:Label ID="ViewLinkLabel" runat="server" Text='[insert Link Here]' /> </td> </ItemTemplate> Please bear in mind that I'm still an amateur in ASP.net, and if any of this seems too convoluted when there's a much easier to do this that I don't know about. PHP: Alternative to SESSIONS

Hi, I have a PHP application that relies on session variables quite a lot. After login the user get redirected to a page that executes code to set up a load of session variables depending on who the user is. The application is using data from different sources and the sessions are used to store ID numbers to query the databases. So when the user goes to a page that will query their asset management system their ID for that particular database is called via the session. I've had a LOT of problems with session variables recently. Sometimes only one session file is created during the lifetime of the app, and sometimes each session request results in a new session id (still haven't managed to find out why!). My question is this. Is there an alternative to using session variables for this? Like globals or some other way? Any help most appreciated! Regards, Jonesy

I am implementing a question-and-answer application with Ruby on Rails. I have MVCs for Questions and Answers. In the home view (index.haml), I list the Questions like this: - @questions.each do |q| %tr %td =link_to q.title, q Next to each of those, I want to add a link that will create a new Answer and pass the id of the Question in that row (continued from the above Haml code) : %td #{link_to 'answer me!', new_answer_path, pass q.id here somehow?} I don't know how to properly pass it and then access it in AnswersController. I tried #{link_to 'answer me!', new_answer_path, :question_id => q.id}, but that was just a guess, and I don't know how to access that in AnswersController. I read the Rails API docs, and I know you can add query, too, but I still don't know how to access the value in AnswersController.

Where do I subclass SC.Record?

I'm using SproutCore and going through the Todos tutorial on http://wiki.sproutcore.com/Todos+06-Building+with+Rails. SproutCore and Rails use different names for the primary key on a model (Sproutcore = 'guid', Rails = 'id'). The tutorial gives directions to Adjust Rails JSON output, but in my app that I'm planning on building, I cannot do this because sproutcore is only one of a couple interfaces used to interact with the Rails app. As an alternate option, the tutorial gives the following directions: Option 2: Set primaryKey in your Sproutcore model class You can subclass SC.Record and set the primaryKey of your sublcass to "id". Your Todo- Object then needs to extend from e.g. App.Rails.Record. App.Rails.Record = SC.Record.extend({ primaryKey : "id" // Extend your records from App.Rails.Record instead of SC.Record. }); Where should I subclass SC.Record (i.e. in what file) such that it is properly read and included?

Best Practices - Stored Procedure Logging

If you have a long running SP, do you log somehow it's actions or just wait for this message? "Command(s) completed successfully." I assume, that there can be plenty solutions on this subject, but is there any best practice - a simple solution that is frequently used? Unique Key in MySql

I have a table with four Columns. Col1, Col2, Col3, and Col4. Col1, Col2, Col3 is string and Col4 is a integer primary key with Auto Increment. Now my requirement is to have unique combination of Col2 and Col3. I mean to say like. Insert into table(Col1,Col2,Col3) Values('val1','val2','val3'); Insert into table(Col1,Col2,Col3) Values('val4','val2','val3'); the second statement has to throw error as the same combination of 'val2','val3' is present in the table. But i cant make it as a primary key as i need a auto increment column and for that matter the col4 has to be primary. Please let me know a approach by which i can have both in my table. Any kind of help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, can anyone tell me, how to retrieve joined result from multiple tables in cakePHP ( using cakePHP mvc architecture). For example, I have three tables to join (tbl_topics, tbl_items, tbl_votes. Their relationship is defined as following: a topic can have many items and an item can have many votes. Now I want to retrieve a list of topics with the count of all votes on all items for each topic. The SQL query for this is written below: SELECT Topic.*, count(Vote.id) voteCount FROM tbl_topics AS Topic LEFT OUTER JOIN tbl_items AS Item ON (Topic.id = Item.topic_id) LEFT OUTER JOIN tbl_votes AS Vote ON (Item.id = Vote.item_id); My problem is I can do it easily using $this-><Model Name>->query function, but this requires sql code to be written in the controller which I don't want. I'm trying to find out any other way to do this (like find()).

[wordpress] Loop through a specific category on single.php

I've created a custom page and it is set as my homepage, within this custom page I am pulling out the latest post from a specific category, I've also created a form of pagination which when clicked upon will take the user to single.php. My intention for the single.php is to have two custom loops. Custom loop one I want single.php to distinguish that it has came from the homepage and loop through all of the posts tagged with the same category as the one on the homepage. Some of these posts will have to be tagged with more than one category, so the loop will have to know to ignore the other categories and just pay attention to the category in question. Does that make sense? Custom loop two If the user hasn't arrived from the homepage, single.php will just act as it normally does i.e, if the user comes from index.php (the blog) they will be taken to this second loop (blog post) However I don't seem to be able to make the distinction between the two loops, I might be over complicating matters, as I've got a loop which wraps everything together and then I have a loop for my custom pagination. I want to specify a custom icon for a makrer. Sadly, the icon that I chose is not displayed. Create automatically table that is composed by its primery key and 2 other foreign keys

I have table A with a primary id, a table B with a primary key id also and another table C with a primary key id and rows Aid and Bid where Aid and Bid are foreign keys of C and the primary keys of A and B respectively. One way of populating these DB would be populating table A, table B and table C separately. I would like to know if there is a more clever way of doing it, where I could populate A first and at the same time I populate B, I can indicate that an entry in C should be also created. How to map IEnumerable<SelectListItem> to IList<> for ListBox

I have two classes. Class1 and Class2. public class Class1{ ... public virtual IList<Class2> Class2s{get;set;} ... } public class Class2{ ... public virtual IList<Class1> Class1s{get;set;} ... } The view contains <%=Html.ListBox("Class2s", ViewData.Model.Class2s.Select( x => new SelectListItem { Text = x.Name, Value = x.Id.ToString(), Selected = ViewData.Model.Class1.Class2s.Any(y => y.Id == x.Id) }) They have many to many mapping. I have a ListBox in Class1 view which displays Class2. How to map the output of the ListBox back to IList Class2s property of Class1? I am able to display the values in the ListBox but unable to map back the SelectListItem to IList.
