Replacing xcode with macports software

I have been trying to replace everything in xcode with stuff I can get from macports. So far, I installed xcode, then macports, then used macports to install gcc, gcc_select, gmake, elf-bintools, bintools, arm-bintools (just to be sure I replaced all the bintools), and then uninstalled all of xcode. I then linked /usr/bin/make with /opt/local/bin/gmake and used gcc_select to select gcc44--the one from macports. I also exported all the bintool executable paths into the .profile path. I was sure this would work (although I should have known better after working on it for 48 hours straight), but nothing will configure, and the log files all have the common error: :info:configure configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables I have a feeling it has something to do with libraries, but I am really not sure. I use a mac 10.5.8. If this is truely 'impossible', what parts of xcode to I need for macports to work? For example, I can uninstall the xcode folder without a problem.

Why is the same input returning two different MD5 hashes?

Alright, I have two files. They are the EXACT SAME. The first file is: http://iadsonline.com/servconfig.php And the second file is: http://xzerox.info/servconfig.php However, when I use md5_file() to get their MD5, They return two different MD5's. The first returns cc7819055cde3194bb3b136bad5cf58d, which is incorrect, and the second returns 96a0cec80eb773687ca28840ecc67ca1, which is correct. The file is simply an   To verify, I've used this code: $contents = file_get_contents($URL); echo htmlentities($contents); And they both return   So why is it hashing them differently?

WPF databinding update comboxbox2 based on selection change in combobox1 with MVVM

I have a combo box that I have bound to a list that exists in my viewmodel. Now when a users makes a selection in that combo box I want a second combo box to update its content. So, for example, combobox1 is States and combobox2 should contain only the Zipcodes of that state. But in my case I don't have a predefined lists before hand for combobox2, I need to go fetch from a db. Also, if needed, I could get all the potential values for combobox2 (for each combobox1 value) before hand, but I'd like to avoiding that if I can. How do I implement in WPF and using MVVM? I'm fairly new to this whole wpf\databinding\mvvm world.

Why can't I use super to get a method of a class's superclass? how much effective is a frameworks for RIA in long run ?

hi , i am pretty newbie in terms of flex/RIA frameworks. mostly done work on server side. as i search on internet , people are using a lot different framework, cairngorm to mate. so my question is , as i am baby stepping through flex, should i go for learning framework ? or without framework ? ( as of now , those DI,DAO,VO and IoC doesnt make much sense to me apart from full form. ) . i needed to do pretty serious stuff after around eight month or so. should that be enough time for learning flex ? thanks in advance. ( also any link or pointers are welcome -- althogh i have spend whole my day googling around and making hello worlds...) . how to become master of RIA FLEX ?

noob question : reading xml from url link by using php

Hello, I am trying to build an authentication plugin that uses php/xml. My application can communicate to another application by sending this : http://tst.example.net/remote/validate_user.jhtml?ticket=$ticket_value in return i get a formatted xml document. i want to be able to parse that document. I googled and read a bit around here , but what i could find is that using php_simplexml i can do the following $xml = simplexml_load_file("test.xml"); echo $xml-getName() . ""; foreach($xml-children() as $child) { echo $child-getName() . ": " . $child . ""; } my question is : i don't have a test.xml file, it is a url that i am reading/parsing, any way how to get the info from the url, not a file. Is Rails default CSRF protection insecure

By default the form post CSRF protection in Rails creates an authenticity token for a user that only changes when the user's session changes. One of our customers did a security audit of our site and flagged that as an issue. The auditor's statement was that if we also had a XSS vulnerability that an attacker could grab another user's authenticity token and make use of it for CSRF attacks until the user's session expired. But is seems to me that if we had an XSS vulnerability like that an attacker could just as easily grab another user's session cookie and login as that user directly. Or even just make call to our REST Api as the user being attacked. No secondary CSRF attack needed. Have I missed something? Is there a real problem with the default CSRF protection in Rails?

Facebook Connect: proxied_email not always returned by users_getInfo

Today I realized that FB Connect does not return the proxied_email field in about 4 out of 5 times. (I can reproduce this with a single users repeatedly, so this obviously does not have anything to do with privacy options or permissions) It definitely worked fine last week ago. I could not find any official info that this field is going to be removed or anything, so... Does anybody else have this problem? Is there anything I am doing wrong that could be causing this behavior? Or is Facebook just having a bad day?

RoR Devise: Sign in with username OR email

Whats the best way to enable users to log in with their email address OR their username? I am using warden + devise for authentication. I think it probably won't be too hard to do it but i guess i need some advice here on where to put all the stuff that is needed. Perhaps devise devise already provides this feature? like in the config/initializers/devise.rb you would write: config.authentication_keys = [ :email, :username ] To require both username AND email for signing in. But i really want to have only one field for both username and email and require only one of them. I'll just visualize that with some ASCII art, it should look something like this in the view: Username or Email: [____________________] Password: [____________________] [Sign In]

differences between using wmode="transparent", "opaque", "window" for an embedded object on webpage

when embedding a Flash object with the <object and <embed tag, there is an attribute called "wmode". It seems that most of the time, wmode="transparent" is the same as wmode="opaque" as the Flash doesn't actually have any transparent color so that the bottom HTML element is to be shown. As a result, "opaque" should be faster than "transparent" since it require less processing for transparency, yet most of the time i see Flash object embedded with "transparent" instead of "opaque". "opaque" is needed so that other HTML element won't be covered up by the Flash object. (such as a menu item that pops up an extra sub-menu won't be covered up by the Flash object). By the way, is there formal documentation for wmode's "opaque", "transparent", and "window"? I was only able to find blogs that describe it but not the formal documentation. thanks.

Including non-standard C headers in C++

I needed to include a few c headers ( non standard header files ) in my C++ code to be compiled by gcc. The C header (foo.h) has support for : #ifdef __cplusplus extern "C" { #endif and similarly at the end for }. The c++ code has the include "foo.h" I believe I should be able to just include the header (foo.h) and create instances of structs defined in the .h file. I am not able to compile the source code. It seems like the compiler looks at the c code as if it were c++ code. I see error such as error: expected constructor, destructor or type conversion before "(" Did I do something wrong ? I took advise from : http://www.parashift.com/c++-faq-lite/mixing-c-and-cpp.html What else do i need to do, to tell the c++ compiler "expect and compile as c code" ?

Javamelody with Tomcat and MySql

I have setup a web application in Tomcat with Javamelody and MySql. I am able to see the JDBC connection details under system info so I know that Javamelody is able to connect to the database. I have executed select/update statements from my application but nothing is ever shown on the monitoring page under statistics sql. I have executed "show full processlist" using the same user as my database connection and it works fine. I can't work out what I am doing wrong. Any ideas?

But, how do I do that, if I don't know what survey_id to load until I'm in the object? I am revamping a site and the most complex part is littered with this issue. TIA - Hans.

Millions of anonymous ASP.Net profiles!?

Hi all, some advice needed! Our website receives approximately 50,000 hits a day, and we use anonymous ASP.Net membership profiles/users, this is resulting in millions (4.5m currently) of "active" profiles and the database is 'crawling', we have a nightly task that cleans up all the inactive ones. There is no way that we have 4.5m unique visitors (our county population is only 1/2 million), could this be caused by crawlers and spiders? Also, if we have to live with this huge number of profiles is there anyway of optimising the DB? Thanks Kev

Trilateration using 3 latitude and longitude points, and 3 distances

There exists an unknown target location (latitude and longitude co-ordinates). I have 3 latitude and longitude co-ordinate pairs and for each pair a distance in kilometers to the target location. How can I calculate the co-ordinates of the target location? For example, say I have the following data points 37.418436,-121.963477 0.265710701754km 37.417243,-121.961889 0.234592423446km 37.418692,-121.960194 0.0548954278262km What I'd like is what would the guts of the function that takes that as input and returns 37.417959,-121.961954 as output look like? I understand how to calculate the distance between two points, from http://www.movable-type.co.uk/scripts/latlong.html I understand the general principle that with three circles you get exactly one point of overlap. What I'm hazy on is the math needed to calculate that point with this input.

Free SWF Obfuscator

Does anybody know of a free flash obfuscator? All I can find are commercial ones with free trials. I have done numerous google searches, and have been unable to find what I am looking for. I know that obfuscators do not make your swf hack proof, but they make things harder. Things I am looking for in an obfuscator: Unlimited obfuscations No time limit No watermark (or on the left side only! Right side is no good, same with center) Able to publish work (no special player needed other than standard flashplayer) I really was surprised to see how hard it was to find a good obfuscator (tried encoder, protection, etc. instead as well) and how easy it is to find a decompiler.... It is imperative that my code be protected, at least partially, to discourage the hacking of my game.

Problem deploying servlets in JBoss 5.1 on eclipse.

Yesterday I created a simple image servlet and attempted to deploy it. I am getting an error on JBoss startup, and then further errors on trying to invoke the servlet. I spent about 8 hours yesterday searching the web for answers and trying different scenarios. I ended up making my JBoss problems worse and then fixing them, but I never did get the servlet to work. I also tried following some instructions for creating/deploying a very simple HelloWorld servlet, and that has exactly the same problem. Note that web.xml already contained a servlet put there by JBoss: org.jboss.web.tomcat.service.StatusServlet -- that Servlet does not give any errors in the log. As an experiment, I removed ".web" from that path and ended up getting exactly the same error as I'm getting on my Servlet. So it would appear that JBoss is not able to locate my Servlet given the specified path. Just for kicks, I've tried all sorts of other paths, like just plain MyImageServlet, controller.MyImageServlet, and more. Also, the servlet was originally named ImageServlet, but I attempted the name change thinking maybe there was some conflict with an existing ImageServlet. In all cases, the behavior is the same. After all of my research yesterday, I would say that this appears to be a problem with the JBoss servlet container, and I also learned that JBoss 5.1.0.GA should come bundled with a tomcat servlet container. I installed JBoss on my PC (Windows XP) myself less than 2 months ago (from jboss.org) and used it pretty much as is. Note that I am running on JDK 1.6, so I did use the jboss-jdk6 installation version. I am running on Windows, but I also deploy to a Linux virtual dedicated server. I deployed the current version of my program, including the servlet to the Linux box, but I get the exact same errors. I'm reluctant to just try reinstalling JBoss, since it's hard to place the blame on the JBoss installation when I get the same errors on two completely different installations. I am a bit suspicious of the bundled tomcat servlet container, because using eclipse, I haven't been able to locate any indication that there is a tomcat bundled into JBoss. I did locate servlet-api.jar in the JBoss common/lib directory. This is on the eclipse build path. One possibly useful note: I had previously used a standalone tomcat server for other projects using the same eclipse, so maybe it's some sort of eclipse issue? But, as I said, I do get the same errors when I deploy to the Linux server, and that deployment process just involves ftping files to the server and then putting them into the deployed war package and restarting JBoss. BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader( decoder.getInputStream(),"us-ascii")); for (String line = br.readLine(); line!=null; line = br.readLine()) { ... } What do I need to put into ??? to pipe the zis content to the decoder.getOutputStream()? I guess a dedicated thread is needed, as the decoder process might block when its output is not consumed.

what is the oldest glib version that a qt application can run with

I am trying to build a standalone qt application (built on ubuntu and deployed on Red Hat 5.3, both 64 bits) after building a qt application that is statically linked to the qt library I tried to run the program on red hat and got an error saying libc.so.6 was not found and that GLIBC_2.9 or GLIBC_2.10 is not installed and needed. I tried doing a yum install glibc but then I get a message saying that glibc is up to date (its version is 2.0) I guees I am going to restart the build process but this time from a red hat installation. What do you sugges I should do in this case. My goal is to build a standalone qt application that only needs to run on red hat 5 (im pretty sure there is also going to be an issue with fontconfig.so but I can simply provide this library directly in the same directory as the app)

Javascript callback for multiple ajax calls

My lack of javascript knowledge is getting me in trouble again. I think this should be a fairly easy problem to fix but I cant figure it out. Situation: I want to make three ajax calls in a click event. Each ajax call does a distinct operation and returns back data that is needed for a final callback. Auto insert date and time in form input field?

Using javascript, how can we auto insert the current DATE and TIME into a form input field. I'm building a "Problems" form to keep track of user submitted complaints about a certain service. I'm collecting as much info as possible. I want to save the staff here from having to manually enter the date and time each time they open the form. I have this snippet of code: <input id="date" name="date" value="javascript:document.write(Date()+'.')"/> but it's not working. many thanks for any help.
