• MVC HTML.RenderAction – Error: Duration must be a positive number

  On my website I want the user to have the ability to login/logout from any page. When the user select login button a modal dialog will be present to the user for him to enter in his credentials. Since login will be on every page, I thought I would create a partial view for the login and add it to the layout page. But when I did this I got the following error: Exception Details: System.InvalidOperationException: Duration must be a positive number. There are other ways to work around this that would not using partial views, but I believe this should work. So to test this, I decided to make everything simple with the following code: Created a layout page with the following code @{Html.RenderAction("_Login", "Account");} In the AccountController: public ActionResult _Login() { return PartialView("_Login"); } Partial View _Login <a id="signin">Login</a> But when I run this simple version this I still get this error: Exception Details: System.InvalidOperationException: Duration must be a positive number. • Add an objective @property attribute in objective-c

  Does anyone know of a way to add additional attribute types to the @property keyword without modifying the compiler? Or can anyone think of another way to genericize getter/setter creation? Basically, I have a lot of cases in a recent project where it's handy for objects to lazily instantiate their array properties. This is because we have "event" objects that can have a wide variety of collections as properties. Subclassing for particular events is undesirable because many properties are shared, and it would become a usability nightmare. For example, if I had an object with an array of songs, I'd write a getter like the following: - (NSMutableArray *)songs { if (!songs) { songs = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; } return songs; } Rather than writing dozens of these getters, it would be really nice to get the behavior via... @property (nonatomic, retain, lazyGetter) NSMutableArray *songs; Maybe some fancy tricks via #defines or something? Other ideas?

  Has anyone encountered this problem? I manually migrated a MVC1.0 application to MVC2.0 and everything so far seems to be working fine. Today I wanted to try out the Html.EditorFor helper and it doesn't render the template. I set it up the same way in a fresh MVC2.0 application and the template does render. Is there anything other (or specifically needed when mirgrating to activate this behavior) than throwing the partial view like DateTime.ascx into Views/Shared/EditorTemplates and using the helper methods to render the model objects? I'm stumped.

  I'm using FSharp.Compiler.CodeDom to dynamically create F# classes. The problem is, that I have both VS2008 and VS2010 on my computer side-by-side (they works fine), and using F# in this configuration is buggy at best: If I don't install InstallFSharp.msi, then under VS2008 the built classes complain about not finding FSharp.Core (even if they're referenced) If I install InstallFSharp.msi, then under VS2008 the built classes will use the F# built for VS2010, and will throw a binary-incompatibility exception, because it will load the .net4 variant: FSC: error FS0219: The referenced or default base CLI library 'mscorlib' is binary- incompatible with the referenced F# core library 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft F#\v4.0\FSharp.Core.dll'. Consider recompiling the library or making an explicit reference to a version of this library that matches the CLI version you are using. If I replace the F# found at the previous location to the separately installed dll-s, then of course VS2010 will complain about binary-incompatibility Am I overlooking something, or they won't simply work for a shared environment like this? This might mean real problems when I deploy the applications. Thanks

For example a class called person; class person { static $name; } but i have a number of different regular pages that want to utilize $name across the board. I have trying things like this; pageone.php include "person.php"; $names = new Person(); echo person::$name; names::$name='bob'; pagetwo.php include "person.php"; echo person::$name; I can work with classes to the extent I'm OK as long as I am creating new instances every page, but how can make the properties of one object available to all, like a shared variable ? • Locking Cache Key without Locking the entire Cache

  I have servlets that caches user information rather then retrieving it from the user store on every request (shared Ehcache). The issue I have is that if a client is multi-threaded and they make more then one simultaneous request, before they have been authenticated, then I get this in my log: Retrieving User [Bob] Retrieving User [Bob] Retrieving User [Bob] Returned [Bob] ...caching Returned [Bob] ...caching Returned [Bob] ...caching What I would want is that the first request would call the user service, while the other two requests get blocked - and when the first request returns, and then caches the object, the other two requests go through: Retrieving User [Bob] blocking... blocking... Returned [Bob] ...caching [Bob] found in cache [Bob] found in cache I've thought about locking on the String "Bob" (because due to interning it's always the same object right?). Would that work? And if so how do I keep track of the keys that actually exist in the cache and build a locking mechanism around them that would then return the valid object once it's retrieved. Thanks.

Is it a good idea to store the returned datatables in the session? A distributed/shared cache? Or just ping the database each time?   I'm trying to setup a repository in an ActiveCollab project. During setup, it reports that the connection tests successfully. However, when I try to actually update the repository, I get the following message: Could not obrain the highest revision number for the given repository. If I try to browse the repository, the following error comes up: Fatal error: Call to a member function getRevision() on a non-object in /u/sites/activecollab/webroot/shared/activecollab/activecollab/application/modules/source/controllers/RepositoryController.class.php on line 357 Is this because of trying to access the repository via svn+ssh plugin rather than http? Or did something happen on the ActiveCollab end? The repository is accessed fine via other means -- only ActiveCollab has the problem.

  I am designing a python web app, where people can have an email sent to them on a particular day. So a user puts in his emai and date in a form and it gets stored in my database. My script would then search through the database looking for all records of todays date, retrive the email, sends them out and deletes the entry from the table. Is it possible to have a setup, where the script starts up automatically at a give time, say 1 pm everyday, sends out the email and then quits? If I have a continuously running script, i might go over the CPU limit of my shared web hosting. Or is the effect negligible? Ali

Problem is, that I can't make it automatically fill the Maven Dependencies library In .classpath file there is this line <classpathentry kind="con" path="org.maven.ide.eclipse.MAVEN2_CLASSPATH_CONTAINER"/> as in other "working" projects, but there is nothing on the classpath. Any suggestions please ?

• Can two Silverlight applications share IsolatedStorage on one machine?

  What identifies an application and when can two applications share IsolatedStorage if at all, i.e.: if I want to have two Silverlight applications share IsolatedStorage space, is this possible? What kind of "application id" do I need to give to do this? if I don't want two Silverlight applications to share IsolatedStorage, how do I prevent this? Do I need to do this? For instance, I've noticed when I develop a Silverlight application, I can press F5, in the application save to Isolated Storage, stop the application, press F5 again, and it reads from the same IsolatedStorage. (I would think that a new compilation would cause it to use new IsolatedStorage.) However, when I then copy the .xap and .html files to another directory and open the .html file, it does NOT share the IsolatedStorage with the application I was developing. What changed? What is going on behind the scenes here so I know when IsolatedStorage is shared and when it isn't?

  I am using eclipselink JPA with a database which is also being updated externally to my application. For that reason there are tables I want to query every few seconds. I can't get this to work even when I try to disable the cache and query cache. • Organizing source code in TFS 2010

  We have just gotten TFS 2010 up and running. We will be migrating our source into TFS but I have a question on how to organize the code. TFS 2010 has a new concept of project collections so I have decided that different groups within our organization. My team develops many different web applications and we have several shared components. We also use a few third party components (such as telerik). Clearly each web application is it's own project but where do I put the shard components? Should each component be in it's own project with separate builds and work items? Is there a best practice or recommended way to do this specific to TFS 2010?

• XML-RPC with PHP and GoDaddy? Confusion sets in.

  Hey folks, I am attempting to work with XML-RPC via PHP on a GoDaddy server. This same server is hosting a Wordpress Blog that makes use of XML-RPC and is functioning, though that may be unrelated... Whenever I attempt to use any functions that are integrated into PHP for use with XML-RPC, I get an error (function list here: http://us3.php.net/manual/en/ref.xmlrpc.php) e.g.: Fatal error: Class 'xmlrpc_client' not found Is this because XML-RPC's PHP functions are not enabled on my server? If so, how do I go about enabling those - it would seem I would have to install the XML-RPC library to do so and of course I cannot do that on a shared server. Doesn't Wordpress use the same batch of XML-RPC functions though (it works fine)? I think I have managed to thoroughly confuse myself. I have zero experience with XML-RPC.

• Randomly getting a 500 error on my website

  I am randomly getting a 500 error on my websites, all of which are hosted on a shared server. It won't happen all the time, just randomly when I will refresh the page I will get a 500 error. It usually will come back after I refresh a few times. I've been reading about it and have heard that .htaccess files can cause this... I did recently start using an .htaccess file to tell my server to start using php 5. I got the code straight from the hosting company that I am with. This is what is in the .htaccess file: AddType x-mapp-php5 .php If anyone has any ideas as to what would be causing this, that would really help. Thanks!

• Google index vs asp.net url routing

  I've made the change from querystring asp.net webforms application to an url routing one. Now I'm trying to let google know that there's a new set of urls to be aware of. The G has indexed 133 out of 179 new urls sent in sitemap.xml, but the site:mistral.hr command returns the old querystring version of the links. This could partly be so because I left the functionality of the old querystring version of the site(for backwards compatibility), and haven't done any 301 redirects(nor do I know how to achieve them in my shared hosting account). The old querystring and the new url routing both point to the same Default.aspx page.

• Why is my Tomcat 6 executor thread pool not being used by the connector?

  My server.xml looks like the following: <!--The connectors can use a shared executor, you can define one or more named thread pools--> <Executor name="tomcatThreadPool" namePrefix="catalina-exec-" maxThreads="200" minSpareThreads="4"/> <Connector executor="tomcatThreadPool" port="8080" protocol="HTTP/1.1" connectionTimeout="10000" maxKeepAliveRequests="1" redirectPort="8443" /> <Connector port="8009" protocol="AJP/1.3" redirectPort="8443" /> However, in the Tomcat manager (http://localhost/manager/status) it shows to following http-8080: Max threads: -1 Current thread count: -1 Current thread busy: -1 jk-8009: Max threads: 200 Current thread count: 4 Current thread busy: 1 For some reason it looks like http-8080 isn't using the executor even though it is directed too and jk-8009 is using the executor even though it isn't instructed to. Is the manager just misreporting or have I not setup the thread pool correctly?
