• Access Control Service V2 and Facebook Integration

  I haven’t been blogging about ACS2 in the past because it was not released and I was kinda busy with other stuff. Needless to say I spent quite some time with ACS2 already (both in customer situations as well as in the classroom and at conferences). ACS2 rocks! It’s IMHO the most interesting and useful (and most unique) part of the whole Azure offering! For my talk at VSLive yesterday, I played a little with the Facebook integration. See Steve’s post on the general setup. One claim that you get back from Facebook is an access token. This token can be used to directly talk to Facebook and query additional properties about the user. Which properties you have access to depends on which authorization your Facebook app requests. You can specify this in the identity provider registration page for Facebook in ACS2. In my example I added access to the home town property of the user. Once you have the access token from ACS you can use e.g. the Facebook SDK from Codeplex (also available via NuGet) to talk to the Facebook API. In my sample I used the WIF ClaimsAuthenticationManager to add the additional home town claim. • Microsoft Sync. Framework with Azure on iOS

  A bit of a revelation this evening. I discovered something obvious, but missing from my understanding of the brilliant iOS example that ships with the Sync. Framework 4.0CTP It seems that on the server side if a record is edited, correctly only the fields that are modified gets sent down to your device (in my case an iPad). I was previously just blindly assuming that I'd get all fields down.   I install Ubuntu 12.04 Beta 2, I found out the my graphic driver is "Unknown" and experience is "Standard". Please help me know how to install my graphic driver. as per my laptop specs: Mobile Intel GM965 Express Chipset with integrated 3D graphics, featuring Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) X3100 with up to 358/3845 MB of Intel Dynamic Video Memory Technology 4.0 (8 MB of dedicated system memory, up to 350/3765 MB of shared system memory), supporting Microsoft DirectX 9. I found a site where I ask how to check the graphic of my system. by using terminal command "glxinfo" command ask me to install mesa-utils! and update. After that, My graphic driver is listed! • How to access a Windows share from Ubuntu?

  In Ubuntu 12.04 and previous versions, I can easily install smbfs and running smb://server/share from Nautilus works! But, in 12.10, I can't install smbfs. Trying to install it from the terminal, I see this that the package is obsolete: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Package smbfs is not available, but is referred to by another package. This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source However the following packages replace it: cifs-utils E: Package 'smbfs' has no installation candidate How can access my Windows share easily in 12.10?

Why is the chroot needed for installation?

• bridge network using route

  I have been googeling and searching on how to do bridge my wifi connections to my internet connection using route. I have a ubuntu server 12.04 with a wifi and normal network card I also have a router that is connected to the internet on my ubuntu server i have eth0 connected to the router; IP 192.168.1.12 GW 192.168.1.1 DNS 212.54.40.25 this all works great I have set up my wlan0 as my accespoint, and DHCP to feed an IP to any device that connects to it. if i connect, for example, my android smartphone to my wlan0 acces point it will get the following IP 10.10.0.2 GW 10.10.0.1 DNS 212.54.40.25 How in earth can I bridge this connection and acces the internet from my android? I dont want to make use of BR0 bridge-utils but accomplish this using route. Many thanks in advance

• Ubuntu 12.04 fails to find Intel HD Graphics 3000

  On my Windows 7 installation an Intel HD Graphics 3000 card/driver shows. However in Ubuntu 12.04, System ? Administration ? Hardware Drivers shows no proprietary drivers available for the system. I have tried running the following: sudo apt-get install mesa-utils Which results in the graphics driver incorrectly identifying itself as Sandy Bridge Mobile. Running the following results in no change sudo add-apt-repository ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade sudo reboot Does anybody have any information on this behavior?

• Setting Up Audio on a Server Install

  I'm running on a clean install of 10.10 Server edition and have alsa-base, alsa-tools, alsa-utils, alsaplayer, and alsa-firmware-loader installed. At one point I installed pulseaudio, but I have since removed it. I've tried the following lspci | grep audio 00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 01) 01:06.0 Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs [SB Live! Value] EMU10k1X aplay -l aplay: device_list:235: no soundcards found... alsamixer can not open mixer: No such file or directory When I search for modules with find /lib/modules/`uname -r` | grep snd I do get a list of modules I'm not very experienced with alsa setup, so I'm not sure where to go from here

• A separate solution for types, etc?

  I'm currently in progress updating some engine-code(which does not work, so it is more like creating a engine). I've decided to swap over to SFML(instead of my own crappy renderer, window manager, and audio), Box2d(since I need physics, but have none), and some small utils I've built myself. The problem is that each of the project mentioned over use different types for things like Vector2, etc. So to the question; Is it a good idea to replace box2d and SFML vectors with my own vector class? (Which is one of my better implementations) My idea then was to have a seperate .lib with all my classes that should be shared between all the projects in the solution.

• poor font rendering in browsers on 12.04

  I'm using a Lenovo B570e. I've installed the mesa-utils for the graphic driver because it wasn't recognized by default. Now I have this: graphic card : Intel® Sandybridge Mobile x86/MMX/SSE2. I don't know if it's just my impression but I think all the images are a little bit pixelated and I think it have something to do with the drivers. Maybe is not the correct driver associated with it, I'm saying this because when I was on Windows 7 the name of the driver was something like " Intel hd graphics..." Any suggestions? Thank you! Later edit: This seems to happen only in browsers.

  Hi all, Im new to ofbiz.So is my question is have any mistake forgive me for my mistakes.Im new to ofbiz so i did not know some terminologies in ofbiz.Sometimes my question is not clear because of lack of knowledge in ofbiz.So try to understand my question and give me a good solution with respect to my level.Because some solutions are in very high level cannot able to understand for me.So please give the solution with good examples. • Boost Spirit and Lex parser problem

  I've been struggling to try and (incrementally) modify example code from the documentation but with not much different I am not getting the behavior I expect. Specifically, the "if" statement fails when (my intent is that) it should be passing (there was an "else" but that part of the parser was removed during debugging). The assignment statement works fine. I had a "while" statement as well which had the same problem as the "if" statement so I am sure if I can get help to figure out why one is not working it should be easy to get the other going. • How do I improve my performance with this singly linked list struct within my program?

  Hey guys, I have a program that does operations of sets of strings. We have to implement functions such as addition and subtraction of two sets of strings. We are suppose to get it down to the point where performance if of O(N+M), where N,M are sets of strings. Right now, I believe my performance is at O(N*M), since I for each element of N, I go through every element of M. I'm particularly focused on getting the subtraction to the proper performance, as if I can get that down to proper performance, I believe I can carry that knowledge over to the rest of things I have to implement. The '-' operator is suppose to work like this, for example. Declare set1 to be an empty set. Declare set2 to be a set with { a b c } elements Declare set3 to be a set with ( b c d } elements set1 = set2 - set3 And now set1 is suppose to equal { a }. So basically, just remove any element from set3, that is also in set2. For the addition implementation (overloaded '+' operator), I also do the sorting of the strings (since we have to). All the functions work right now btw. So I was wondering if anyone could a) Confirm that currently I'm doing O(N*M) performance b) Give me some ideas/implementations on how to improve the performance to O(N+M) Note: I cannot add any member variables or functions to the class strSet or to the node structure. • How to display different value with ComboBoxTableCell?

  I try to use ComboxBoxTableCell without success. The content of the cell display the right value for the attribute of an object. But when the combobox is displayed, all items are displayed with the toString object method and not the attribute. I tryed to override updateItem of ComboBoxTableCell or to provide a StringConverter but nothing works. Do you have some ideas to custom comboxbox list display in a table cell ? • Maintain cookie session in Android

  Okay, I have an android application that has a form in it, two EditText, a spinner, and a login button. The user selects the service from the spinner, types in their user name and password, and clicks login. The data is sent via POST, a response is returned, it's handled, a new webview is launched, the html string generated form the response is loaded, and I have the home page of whatever service the user selected. That's all well and good. Now, when the user clicks on a link, the login info can't be found, and the page asks the user to login again. My login session is being dropped somewhere, and I'm not certain how to pass the info from the class that controls the main part of my app to the class that just launches the webview activity. It seems to work for one service I log into that I know keeps the cookies on the server (old, archaic, but it works and they don't want to change it.) The service I'm attempting now requires the user to keep cookies on their local machine, and it does not work with this setup. Any suggestions?

• Help with Design for Vacation Tracking System (C#/.NET/Access/WebServices/SOA/Excel) [closed]

  I have been tasked with developing a system for tracking our company's paid time-off (vacation, sick days, etc.) At the moment we are using an Excel spreadsheet on a shared network drive, and it works pretty well, but we are concerned that we won't be able to "trust" employees forever and sometimes we run into locking issues when two people try to open the spreadsheet at once. So we are trying to build something a little more robust. I would like some input on this design in terms of maintainability, scalability, extensibility, etc. It's a pretty simple workflow we need to represent right now: I started with a basic MS Access schema like this: Employees (EmpID int, EmpName varchar(50), AllowedDays int) Vacations (VacationID int, EmpID int, BeginDate datetime, EndDate datetime) But we don't want to spend a lot of time building a schema and database like this and have to change it later, so I think I am going to go with something that will be easier to expand through configuration. Right now the vacation table has this schema: Vacations (VacationID int, PropName varchar(50), PropValue varchar(50)) And the table will be populated with data like this: VacationID | PropName | PropValue -----------+--------------+------------------ 1 | EmpID | 4 1 | EmpName | James Jones 1 | Reason | Vacation 1 | BeginDate | 2/24/2010 1 | EndDate | 2/30/2010 1 | Destination | Spectate Swamp 2 | ... | ... I think this is a pretty good, extensible design, we can easily add new properties to the vacation like the destination or maybe approval status, etc. I wasn't too sure how to go about managing the database of valid properties, I thought of putting them in a separate PropNames table but it gets complicated to manage all the different data types and people say that you shouldn't put CLR type names into a SQL database, so I decided to use XML instead, here is the schema: <VacationProperties> <PropertyNames>EmpID,EmpName,Reason,BeginDate,EndDate,Destination</PropertyNames> <PropertyTypes>System.Int32,System.String,System.String,System.DateTime,System.DateTime,System.String</PropertyTypes> <PropertiesRequired>true,true,false,true,true,false</PropertiesRequired> </VacationProperties> I might need more fields than that, I'm not completely sure. I've used this code to implement the Web Services: public class VacationConfigurationService : WebService { [WebMethod] public void UpdateConfiguration(string xml) { // Above code goes here } } Which was pretty easy, although I'm still working on a way to validate that XML against some kind of schema as there's no error-checking yet. I also created a few different services for other operations like VacationSubmissionService, VacationReportService, VacationDataService, VacationAuthenticationService, etc. The whole Service Oriented Architecture looks like this: And because the workflow itself might change, I have been working on a way to integrate the WF workflow system with MS Visio, which everybody at the office already knows how to use so they could make changes pretty easily. We have a diagram that looks like the following (it's kind of hard to read but the main items are Activities, Authenticators, Validators, Transformers, Processors, and Data Connections, they're all analogous to the services in the SOA diagram above). The requirements for this system are: (Note - I don't control these, they were given to me by management) Main workflow must interface with Excel spreadsheet, probably through VBA macros (to ease the transition to the new system) Alerts should integrate with MS Outlook, Lotus Notes, and SMS (text messages). We also want to interface it with the company Voice Mail system but that is not a "hard" requirement. Performance requirements: Must handle 250,000 Transactions Per Second Should be able to handle up to 20,000 employees (right now we have 3) 99.99% uptime ("four nines") expected Must be secure against outside hacking, but users cannot be required to enter a username/password. Platforms: Must support Windows XP/Vista/7, Linux, iPhone, Blackberry, DOS 2.0, VAX, IRIX, PDP-11, Apple IIc. Time to complete: 6 to 8 weeks. My questions are: Is this a good design for the system so far? Am I using all of the recommended best practices for these technologies? How do I integrate the Visio diagram above with the Windows Workflow Foundation to call the ConfigurationService and persist workflow changes? Am I missing any important components? Will this be extensible enough to support any scenario via end-user configuration? Will the system scale to the above performance requirements? Will we need any expensive hardware to run it? Are there any "gotchas" I should know about with respect to cross-platform compatibility? For example would it be difficult to convert this to an iPhone app? How long would you expect this to take?
