    I have uninstalled VS 2010 and many other apps that I don't use anymore, and reinstalled it after. I have also reinstalled VS 2010 SP1. I'm now down to 3 updates, of which I am getting the error: "KB2522890 does not apply, or is blocked by another condition on your computer." I have already disabled my antivirus and Windows Defender. It also happens to the other updates: VS10SP1-KB2529927-v2-x86 VS10SP1-KB2548139-x86 VS10SP1-KB2549864-x86 It is possible that Microsoft Update is right that they do not apply, as I only installed VS 2010 C# and Web development. Why is it recommending that I install them then?

  • Visual Studio 2010 and discovery of advantage server error

    I installed VS 2010 on a Windows 7 64 bit machine. When I try and connect to an advantage database through the server explorer using the Advanatage OLEDB driver I get a cannot discover advantage database server error. I can connect to the database using the ARC just fine. I was able to connect in VS 2008 just fine. Any ideas on why I can't connect in VS 2010?

But when I copy and register the extension in BI Development Studio, it gives me an error message while loading the extension".     Any idea why my Restore command works fine when run in Management Studio 2008 but not when run from the dos prompt? Shown below is the error when running from the dos prompt. My table consists of the flowing: FillUp(CarID, Date, ODReading, Gallons, StopGo, Highway, FillupID, MPG) I want to subtract the ODReading from the previous record and divide gallons by this computed value.     Been using the new SQL 2012 Data Tools SQL Server Database Project in VS 2010. Every time we do a schema compare we have to set the options for the current compare. This does not seem to be tied back to the global compare options you can set in Tools Options. Does anybody know where to set the 'new' global compare options. NOTE: This is the new SQL 2012 compare from Data Tools, and not the old 2005/2008 compare that comes standard with Studio 2010.

    I just installed visual studio 2010 and upgraded my MVC project (which was running on MVC RC2 in visual studio 2008). visual studio 2010 updated every project file to target the framework 4.0. But the system.web.dll is pointing to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft ASP.NET\ASP.NET MVC 2\Assemblies\System.Web.Mvc.dll in VS2010 object browser, I have every dll showing up in multiple versions as expected (3.5.0.0 and 4.0.0.0) except for the System.Web.Mvc dll which doesn't show any version and points to the path I mentioned above. Isn't this namespace point to the Framework folder like the System.Web namespace? C:\Program Files (x86)\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Framework.NETFramework\v4.0\System.Web.dll

  • Using non primitive types in ServiceOperation for WCF Data Service (3.5SP1)

    Is there any way at all to create a "mock" entity type for use in a WCF Service Operation? We have some queries we do that we need to optimize by exposing as a ServiceOperation. The problem is in order to do so we would result in a very long list of primitative types... Ex SomeoneHelpMe(int time, string name, string address, string i, string purple, string foo, int stillGoing, int tooMany, etc...) And we really need to reduce this to SomeoneHelpedMe(CustomEntityNotMappedToAnything e) This would also help us when it comes time to write some complex queries since there is a 3 param limitation... I saw this will be possible in 4.0 using "complex types", but i am still in the 3.5SP1 world. Let me know if anyone needs more information.

    I am looking for an automated way to iterate over all ObjectQueries and set the merge option to no tracking (read only context). Once i find out how to do it i will be able to generate a default read only context using a T4 template. Is this possible? For example lets say i have these tables in my object context SampleContext TableA TableB TableC I would have to go through and do the below. SampleContext sc = new SampleContext(); sc.TableA.MergeOption = MergeOption.NoTracking; sc.TableB.MergeOption = MergeOption.NoTracking; sc.TableC.MergeOption = MergeOption.NoTracking; I am trying to find a way to generalize this using object context. I want to get it down to something like foreach(var objectQuery : sc){ objectQuery.MergeOption = MergeOption.NoTracking; } Preferably I would like to do it using the baseclass(ObjectContext): ObjectContext baseClass = sc as ObjectContext var objectQueries = sc.MetadataWorkspace.GetItem("Magic Object Query Option); But i am not sure i can even get access to the queries. Any help would be appreciated.
