CAML it’s a markup language like html that allows developers to do queries against SharePoint lists, it’s syntax is very easy to understand and it allows to add logical conditions like Where, Contains, And, Or, etc, just like a SQL Query. For one of our projects we have the need to do a filter on SharePoint views, the problem here is that the view it’s a list containing a CAML Query with the filters the view may have, so in order to filter the view that’s already been filtered before, we need to append our filters to the existing CAML Query. That’s not a trivial task because the where statement in a CAML Query it’s like this: <Where>   <And>     <Filter1 />     <Filter2 />   </And> </Where> If we want to add a new logical operator, like an OR it’s not just as simple as to append the OR expression like the following example: <Where>   <And>     <Filter1 />     <Filter2 />   </And>   <Or>     <Filter3 />   </Or> </Where> But instead the correct query would be: <Where>   <Or>     <And>       <Filter1 />       <Filter2 />     </And>     <Filter3 />   </Or> </Where> Notice that the <Filter# /> tags are for explanation purpose only. In order to solve this problem we created a simple component, it has a method that receives the current query (could be an empty query also) and appends the expression you want to that query. Example: string currentQuery = @“ <Where>    <And>     <Contains><FieldRef Name='Title' /><Value Type='Text'>A</Value></Contains>     <Contains><FieldRef Name='Title' /><Value Type='Text'>B</Value></Contains>   </And> </Where>”; currentQuery = CAMLQueryBuilder.AppendQuery(     currentQuery,     “<Contains><FieldRef Name='Title' /><Value Type='Text'>C</Value></Contains>”,     CAMLQueryBuilder.Operators.Or); The fist parameter this function receives it’s the actual query, the second it’s the filter you want to add, and the third it’s the logical operator, so basically in this query we want all the items that the title contains: the character A and B or the ones that contains the character C. The result query is: <Where>   <Or>      <And>       <Contains><FieldRef Name='Title' /><Value Type='Text'>A</Value></Contains>       <Contains><FieldRef Name='Title' /><Value Type='Text'>B</Value></Contains>     </And>     <Contains><FieldRef Name='Title' /><Value Type='Text'>C</Value></Contains>   </Or> </Where>             The code:   First of all we have an enumerator inside the CAMLQueryBuilder class that has the two possible Options And, Or. public enum Operators { And, Or }   Then we have the main method that’s the one that performs the append of the filters. public static string AppendQuery(string containerQuery, string logicalExpression, Operators logicalOperator){   In this method the first we do is create a new XmlDocument and wrap the current query (that may be empty) with a “<Query></Query>” tag, because the query that comes with the view doesn’t have a root element and the XmlDocument must be a well formatted xml.   XmlDocument queryDoc = new XmlDocument(); queryDoc.LoadXml("<Query>" + containerQuery + "</Query>");   The next step is to create a new XmlDocument containing the logical expression that has the filter needed.   XmlDocument logicalExpressionDoc = new XmlDocument(); logicalExpressionDoc.LoadXml("<root>" + logicalExpression + "</root>"); In these next four lines we extract the expression from the recently created XmlDocument and create an XmlElement.                  XmlElement expressionElTemp = (XmlElement)logicalExpressionDoc.SelectSingleNode("/root/*"); XmlElement expressionEl = queryDoc.CreateElement(expressionElTemp.Name); expressionEl.InnerXml = expressionElTemp.InnerXml;   Below are the main steps in the component logic. • Adding SQL Cache Dependencies to the Loosely coupled .NET Cache Provider

  This post adds SQL Cache Dependency support to the loosely coupled .NET Cache Provider that I described in the previous post (http://geekswithblogs.net/Rhames/archive/2012/09/11/loosely-coupled-.net-cache-provider-using-dependency-injection.aspx). The sample code is available on github at https://github.com/RobinHames/CacheProvider.git. Each time we want to apply a cache dependency to a call to fetch or cache a data item we need to supply an instance of the relevant dependency implementation. This suggests an Abstract Factory will be useful to create cache dependencies as needed. We can then use Dependency Injection to inject the factory into the relevant consumer. Castle Windsor provides a typed factory facility that will be utilised to implement the cache dependency abstract factory (see http://docs.castleproject.org/Windsor.Typed-Factory-Facility-interface-based-factories.ashx). Cache Dependency Interfaces First I created a set of cache dependency interfaces in the domain layer, which can be used to pass a cache dependency into the cache provider. ICacheDependency The ICacheDependency interface is simply an empty interface that is used as a parent for the specific cache dependency interfaces. This will allow us to place a generic constraint on the Cache Dependency Factory, and will give us a type that can be passed into the relevant Cache Provider methods. namespace CacheDiSample.Domain.CacheInterfaces { public interface ICacheDependency { } }   ISqlCacheDependency.cs The ISqlCacheDependency interface provides specific SQL caching details, such as a Sql Command or a database connection and table. I did this by adding two overloads to the existing Fetch methods, which take an IEnumerable<ICacheDependency> parameter (the IEnumerable allows more than one cache dependency to be included). I also added a method to create cache dependencies. This means that the implementation of the Cache Provider will require a dependency on the Cache Dependency Factory. It is pretty much down to personal choice as to whether this approach is taken, or whether the Cache Dependency Factory is injected directly into the repository or other consumer of Cache Provider. I think, because the cache dependency cannot be used without the Cache Provider, placing the dependency on the factory into the Cache Provider implementation is cleaner. ISqlCacheDependency Concrete Implementation The concrete implementation of ISqlCacheDependency will need to provide an instance of System.Web.Caching.SqlCacheDependency to the Cache Provider implementation. Unfortunately this class is sealed, so I cannot simply inherit from this. Instead, I created an interface called IAspNetCacheDependency that will provide a Create method to create an instance of the relevant System.Web.Caching Cache Dependency type. This interface is specific to the ASP.NET implementation of the Cache Provider, so it should be defined in the same layer as the concrete implementation of the Cache Provider (the MVC UI layer in the sample code). From the Visual Studio Command Prompt, the following commands should be used to enable the Cache Polling of the relevant database tables: aspnet_regsql -S <servername> -E -d <databasename> –ed aspnet_regsql -S <servername> -E -d CacheSample –et –t <tablename>   (The –t option should be repeated for each table that is to be made available for cache dependencies). Finally the SQL Cache Polling needs to be enabled by adding the following configuration to the <system.web> section of web.config: <caching> <sqlCacheDependency pollTime="10000" enabled="true"> <databases> <add name="BloggingContext" connectionStringName="BloggingContext"/> </databases> </sqlCacheDependency> </caching>   (obviously the name and connection string name should be altered as required). Using a SQL Cache Dependency Now all the coding is complete. Our domain objects are mainly designed for the needs for domain model and it is representing the domain of our applications. On the other hand, View Model objects are designed for our needs for views. We have an Expense domain entity that has an association with Category. While we are creating a new Expense, we have to specify that in which Category belongs with the new Expense transaction. The user interface for Expense transaction will have form fields for representing the Expense entity and a CategoryId for representing the Category. Add jQuery DatePicker Our search functionality is using a date range so we are providing two date pickers using jQuery datepicker.   [From stackoverflow] Im trying to find a way to speedup my inserts to a DB2 9.7.1 (ubuntu linux) Im watching vmstat and trying to gather some statistics via the db2 get snapshot commands but im not able to figure out which numbers im looking for to be able to see where the trouble is. I've read lits of stuff like http://www.eggheadcafe.com/software/aspnet/35692526/question-multiple-row-in.aspx, and http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/data/library/tips/dm-0403wilkins/ and tricks like ALTER TABLE lalala APPEND ON works somewhat (the difference between a dd if=/dev/zero and insert is still a factor 10) but I would like to be able to find the counters or other performance indicators that actually show why it makes sense to use those tricks. For example: What is the metric called that shows me that it is buffer pages allocation (FSCR stuff) that is the problem Where do I see that the insert time is hampered by clustered indexes? I find db2top very useful but im still searching for more direct view of "this is your bottleneck" methods

• How best to troubleshoot a WIA issue through an IIS7 reverse proxy.

  I've got an Intranet site that uses Windows Authentication and is accessed through an IIS 7 Reverse Proxy. Using FireFox, Safari or Chrome it works fine. I'm prompted for credentials, I supply them and away I go. In IE 7/8 I get prompted for credentials but they're rejected and I eventually get a 401 not authorized error. The application server is configured for Windows Auth only and rejects basic authentication. I would be surprised if the front end proxy would accept Basic Auth so my suspicion is that it's a trust issue with my browser and IE isn't relaying the credentials however our IS Team has IE so locked down I'm unable to alter trust levels or even view the settings. How should I go about troubleshooting this problem? I'm at a loss and they've yet to respond to my support ticket.

  Say the user is making a request to the following url: "http://api.example.com/houses/123/abc" That request needs to map to "/webroot/index.php" and 'houses', '123', 'abc' need to be able to be parsed out of the URL in that index.php. It also can't alter the http headers or body. There can be any number of variables after the domain ie) "http://api.example.com/houses/1234/abc/zxy/987" I think I already have all requests being sent to webroot using: <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine on RewriteCond $0 !^webroot/ RewriteRule .* webroot/$0 [L] </IfModule> Which appears to be working but I am not sure if it is correct.   Hi I'm using Powershell to query a remote computer in a domain for a wmi object, eg: "gwmi -computer test -class win32_bios". I get this error message: Value does not fall within the expected range Executing the query local under the same user works fine. It seems to happen on both windows 2003 and also 2008 systems. The user that runs the shell has admin rights on the local and remote server. I checked wmi and dcom permissions as far as I know how to do this, they seem to be the same on a server where it works, and another where it does not. I think it is not a network issue, all ports are open that are needed, and it also happens within the same subnet. When sniffing the traffic we see the following errors: RPC: c/o Alter Cont Resp: Call=0x2 Assoc Grp=0x4E4E Xmit=0x16D0 Recv=0x16D0 Warning: GssAPIMechanism is not found, either caused by not reassembled, conversation off or filtering. And an errormessage from Kerberos: Kerberos: KRB_ERROR - KDC_ERR_BADOPTION (13) The option code in the packet is 0x40830000 Any idea what I should look into?

  When I alter or create a stored procedure directly on production or QA database, after a few seconds I start experience timeouts and application becomes unavailable. Log files shows this error: SQL Server has encountered 3 occurrence(s) of I/O requests taking longer than 15 seconds to complete on file [C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\DATA\QA_Database.ldf] in database [QA_Database] (9). The OS file handle is 0x0000000000000568. The offset of the latest long I/O is: 0x0000002821a200 We have SQL Server 2008 R2 installed, including latest Service Pack. Production and staging environments are completely separated. I tried to reproduce it on QA, but to no avail. I have no clue what it could be. Appreciate your help.

• Nt4.0 Printer Driver not compatible with Vista?

  I've got a Brother Fax-8360P printer that has a standard printer port so it can be connected to my WindowsXP machine. I've found some drivers on the net that work and it is a pretty decent laser printer. However, when I try and connect up to it from my Vista machine over the network, it tells me that "The printer driver is not compatible with a policy enabled on your computer that blocks NT4.0 drivers". Main question - is it possible to alter this so that my Vista machine will allow me to print via the network. Secondary question - does anyone know of any generic driver that will work instead?

• Can I set up a 'Deny from x' that overrides other confs for debugging?

  I'm currently working on developing/deploying a Django application on Apache and am often fiddling with the debug settings which alter how Django accepts connections, ignoring or using ALLOWED_HOSTS. If DEBUG is False, it uses them, which is handy to keep up some walls around my construction site. However, the useful info it spits out when True is quite nice. I'm currently just using an SSH tunnel and just allowing localhost when DEBUG is False, but how can I keep everyone out without relying on the aforementioned ALLOWED_HOSTS? Editing the httpd.conf file which is in source control is a bit irritating; I've accidentally committed a few botched configs.

  I found the following answer to a FAQ question about a security problem in Oprofile: This "problem" only occurs if you actively, and mistakenly, configure access to OProfile via sudo. OProfile uses shell scripts which have not been audited (nor is it likely to happen) for use through the broken sudo facility (anything that lets you alter root's path arbitrarily counts as horribly broken). Do not use sudo! As I see it, the author of the answer suggests that sudo is broken, so that it should not be used not only with oprofile, but for other purposes as well. Are there better alternatives to sudo in Linux?

• Remote desktop use two out of four monitors

  I've recently upgraded my home workstation and now have four monitors on it. I work remotely most of the time and need some way to get remote desktop onto only two of those four monitors. The top two monitors (monitors 4 & 3, going from left to right) each have a maximum resolution of 1680x1050. The bottom two monitors (1 & 2) each have a maximum resolution of 1920x1080. In my .rpd file for this remote desktop connection, I have the following keys (I've clipped it for brevity) screen mode id:i:2 use multimon:i:1 desktopwidth:i:1920 desktopheight:i:2130 session bpp:i:32 winposstr:s:0,1,3,75,1655,675 Previously I was able to get away with just doing "mstsc /span" when I had only two monitors, but that isn't working now (and isn't desirable). I'd like for the new setup to only use two of my monitors. I don't really care which two. How do I alter the .rdp file to accomplish this?

What I've tried osql -S .\INSTANCENAME -E use master ALTER LOGIN sa ENABLE GO Using SSMS to enable the account (by logging in using Windows Auth., 'New query', and exactly the same query as in 1.) Suggestions in this issue No. 2. is actually working; and the account is enabled instantly. No 1 is not working, not even with the suggestions provided in 3., I have restarted the SQL services after executing the commands in osql. Additional info Windows 2003 Server, Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Enterprise, No password policies apply to the account.

• How does "Compatability Mode" in Windows 7 affect the application?

  Background: Based on the answer given to this question: "Skype behaviour in the Windows 7 Superbar" ...you can get Skype to minimize to the system tray (rather than the task bar) by running it in compatibility mode. (red flags going off in my head) That's the behavior that I want but what does "compatibility mode" do to the executing application? I am concerned about changing the execution mode of an entire (important) application to a previous generation just to alter the user interface behavior a bit. So, what does compatibility mode actually do internally? What are the disadvantages, as in "how could the application (Skype) suffer?"

• apache 2.4 php-fpm proxypassmatch for pretty urls

  I have a URL like http://newsymfony.dev/app_dev.php/_profiler/5080653d965eb. I would like to send this script to PHP-FPM. I currently have this as my vhost: VirtualHost *:80> ServerName newsymfony.dev DocumentRoot /home/COMPANY/nwalke/www/newsymfony.dev/web/ ErrorLog /var/log/apache2/error_log LogLevel info CustomLog /var/log/apache2/access_log combined <Directory /home/COMPANY/nwalke/www/newsymfony.dev/web/> AllowOverride All Require all granted DirectoryIndex app.php </Directory> ProxyPassMatch ^/(.*\.php)$ fcgi://127.0.0.1:9003/home/COMPANY/nwalke/www/newsymfony.dev/web/$1 </VirtualHost> If I browse to app_dev.php it works just fine. But if I do app_dev.php/_profiler/5080653d965eb I get a 404 and the request never gets sent to FPM. How can I alter my ProxyPassMatch to pass anything with .php in the URL? I'm trying to do this with Symfony, but I'm pretty sure it applies to everything.

• Virtual Box ie7 won't connect to the internet

  I use IE7 & IE8 disk images from microsoft and Virtual Box to test my websites in IE. One day I stopped being able to connect to the internet with virtual box, seemingly after trying to alter proxy related settings to view Hulu.com outside of the U.S... I don't know whether it's coincidence or not. Anyway, I am using the 'PCnet-FAST III (NAT)' adapter with virtual box. Can you guys help me troubleshoot this issue? What information do you need on my current settings? Thanks so much!

• Opening an oracle database crashes the service

  I am experiencing a weird issue with Oracle where the service started fine after a crash. The database mount went fine as well. However, when I issue alter database open; command, the database does not open, gives a generic cannot connect to the database error & crashes the service. Oracle support has not seen this issue before so it's pretty scary. The fact that there are no logs that give any leads as to what could be causing this is also scary. I was wondering if good folks over at Server Fault had seen something like this or have some insights on things that I could try. It's Oracle 10g running on Windows Server 2003. Thanks, Ashish

• Gateway NE56R & mouse swipe gesture...how to disable?

  Can anyone tell me how to shut off the swipe gesture mechanism on my computer? It's driving me crazy. I cannot use a single application without having my computer screen minimize every time I move my hand over the mouse following a mouse-click, pointer movement, etc. Having to maximize my spreadsheets, documents, and applications so much is undercutting my productivity. How some software engineer/inventor imagined that this mouse/gesture swipe gimmick would be helpful to computer users is inconceivable to me. It is a massive annoyance. I've found instructions online for disabling this obnoxious feature, but all the instructions involve messing with my registry, which I don't want to do. I will be SO GRATEFUL to any techie who can tell me how to disable this horrible mouse swipe mechanism without having to alter my registry! I'm using a Gateway NE56R Notebook, Windows 7 operating system, and an Inland USB Mouse (model no. 37535). Thank you in advance!

• MSDeploy - possible to call setAcl on multiple destinations in one go?

  I'm building a nice little continuous integration environment for our development team, based on TeamCity. It's working rather nicely, as it can build a mix of .NET and PHP projects, and push them to our internal and external platforms. I'm primarily using MsDeploy to push everything to the internal platform, as that's all IIS based. However, there's a number of builds where I need to set directory permissions on the destination directory. I can use the setAcl operator just fine, but that only seems to take a single destination as an argument. Therefore, if I need to alter the permissions on 5 destination directories, I need to call MsDeploy 5 times, which seems a lot of overhead. Is there a sensible way around this? Reading the documentation, I don't think MsDeploy takes more than a single argument for the setAcl operator, but could be wrong. Is there a better way for a build server to set multiple directory permissions in one go?

• php.ini use multiple include paths - openbasedir restriction

  I need to allow an include path for a vhost subdomain on Plesk 10. I've edited the PHP PEAR path into /etc/php.ini as I'm happy for it to be globally available: include_path = ".:/usr/share/pear/" This works insofar as PHP is able to see the files in that directory when a script tries to include them, but I'm getting the dreaded openbasedir error: Warning: require_once() [function.require-once]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/usr/share/pear/xxxx.php) is not within the allowed path(s): (/var/www/vhosts/xxxx.com/subdomains/test/httpdocs/:/tmp/) Am I right in saying that the subdomain or main domain can have a vhost.conf file in which I can alter the openbasedir allowed paths? I've tried searching out solutions but I'm afraid I can't quite see one yet :)
