• Configuration of Sonicwall Load Balancing

  We installed a Sonicwall NSA 240 appliance and have configured it up for our SSL VPN connection and for load balancing with 2 ADSL lines. Over the past week, I have been testing the load balancing options to optimize the connection speeds for our users - but I've run into the following: Round Robin load balancing is the ideal load balancing setting and it's roughly doubling our throughput- but, when it's active users are unable to access any SSL enabled websites such as banking, web-mail, etc. For this reason, I have been using percentage based balancing as it allows me to enable source and destination IP binding, which doesn't 'break' any secure connections but were left with the slow connection speeds we had before adding the second line. I'm looking for a method in which we can take advantage of the round robin connection speeds while allowing users to access sites with SSL certificates, all while still allowing our remote (vpn) users to connect. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

• "image contains error", trying to create and display images using google app engine

  Hello all the general idea is to create a galaxy-like map. I run into problems when I try to display a generated image. • Movies recommendation engine conceptual database design

  I am working at an movie recommendations engine and i'm facing a DB design issue. My actual database looks like this: MOVIES [ID,TITLE] KEYWORDS_TABLE [ID,KEY_ID] - where ID is Foreign Key for MOVIES.id and KEY_ID is a key for a text keywords table This is not the entire DB, but i showed here what's important for my problem. I have about 50,000 movies and about 1,3 milion keywords correlations, and basically my algorithm consists in extracting all the who have the same keywords with a given movie, then ordering them by the number of keywords correlations. For example i looked for a movie similar to 'Cast away' and it returned 'Six days and six nights' because it had the most keywords correlations (4 keywords): Island Airplane crash Stranded Pilot The algorithm is based on more factors, but this one is the most important and the most difficult for the approach. Basically what i do now is getting all the movies that have at least one keyword similar to the given movie and then ordering them by other factors which are not important for a moment. There wouldn't be any problem if there weren't so many records, a query lasts in many cases up to 10-20 seconds and some of them return even over 5000 movies. Someone already helped me on here (thanks Mark Byers) with optimizing the query but that's not enough because it takes too longer SELECT DISTINCT M.title FROM keywords_table K1 JOIN keywords_table K2 ON K2.key_id = K1.key_id JOIN movies M ON K2.id = M.id WHERE K1.id = 4 So i thought it would be better if i pre-made those lists with movies recommendations for each movie, but i'm not sure how to design the tables.. whatever is it a good idea or how would you take this approach?

  Hi, Is there any single msql query which can update customer DOB? I want to update the DOB of those customers which have DOB greater than current date. example:- if a customer have dob 2034 update it to 1934 , if have 2068 updated with 1968. There was a bug in my system if you enter date less than 1970 it was storing it as 2070. The bug is solved now but what about the customers which have wrong DOB. So I have to update their DOB. • cgi.FieldStorage always empty - never returns POSTed form Data

  This problem is probably embarrassingly simple. I'm trying to give python a spin. I thought a good way to start doing that would be to create a simple cgi script to process some form data and do some magic. My python script is executed properly by apache using mod_python, and will print out whatever I want it to print out. My only problem is that cgi.FieldStorage() is always empty. I've tried using both POST and GET. • KeyUp processed for wrong control

  I have made a simple test application for the issue, two winforms each containing a button. The button on the first form opens the other form when clicked. It also subscribes to keyup events. The second form has its button set as "AcceptButton" and in the Clicked event we sleep for 1s and then set DialogResult to true (the sleep is to simulate some processing done) When enter is used to close this second form the KeyUp event of the button on the first form is triggered, even though the key was released well before the second had passed so the second form was still shown and focused. If any key other then enter is pressed in the second form the event is not triggered for the button on the first form. • Inactive area after device rotation

  Hi all, I don't understand what's wrong in my very simple application with device rotation : I built my view with interface builder. (See screen capture here) I specified <key>UIInterfaceOrientation</key><string>UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight</string> in my info.plist file. I had a (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation {return YES;} in my root view controller. The area on the left (shown in red on the capture), around 20 pixel width, keeps inactive (nothing append if I hit a button in this area). In fact the full screen is active only in portrait mode, in landscape right mode there is this 20 pixels width inactive area, in landscape left mode this inactive area is on the right, in portrait upside down mode this area is on the bottom. I read lots of posts and documentation about UIView rotation, but I did not find anything to solve this problem (I tried to play with view.frame and view.bounds without any success). I have a requirement to output the contents of the db (not actual schema above, but concept is similar) in both fixed width and delimited formats. The above FOR XML PATH query gives me the result I want, but when dealing with anything other than small amounts of data, can take awhile. I've looked at pivot but most of the examples I have found are aggregating information. I just to combine the child rows and tack them onto the parent. For example, for an order it would need to output: OrderId,Product1,Product2,Product3,etc Thoughts or suggestions? I am using SQL Server 2k5.

• How do I forward `<Ctrl>-<Tab>` in Konsole?

  I want to use intelligent tabbing in Emacs in C++ mode, but I also want to be able to insert a tab character when necessary. From other posts, I gather that the easiest way is to bind <Ctrl>-<Tab> to indent. However, it appears that Konsole in KUbuntu won't forward the <Ctrl>? My current .emacs file contains: (defun my-c-mode-common-hook () (setq c++-tab-always-indent t) (setq tab-width 4) (setq indent-tabs-mode t) ) (add-hook 'c-mode-common-hook 'my-c-mode-common-hook) (global-set-key [C-tab] 'self-insert-command) So I believe that this will bind <Ctrl>-<Tab> to inserting a tab character. However, when I run: <Ctrl>-h k <Ctrl>-<Tab> Emacs only reports that I pressed the tab key. Is there some option to Konsole (which I have searched through to no avail) or global preferences in KUbuntu that I need to set so that the <Ctrl>- is also forwarded? (It certainly forwards all of the other <Ctrl>-blah commands.)

• Poor execution plans when using a filter and CONTAINSTABLE in a query

  We have an interesting problem that I was hoping someone could help to shed some light on. At a high level the problem is as below: The following query executes quickly (1 second): SELECT SA.* FROM cg.SEARCHSERVER_ACTYS AS SA JOIN CONTAINSTABLE(CG.SEARCHSERVER_ACTYS, NOTE, 'reports') AS T1 ON T1.[Key]=SA.UNIQUE_ID but if we add a filter to the query, then it takes approximately 2 minutes to return: SELECT SA.* FROM cg.SEARCHSERVER_ACTYS AS SA JOIN CONTAINSTABLE(CG.SEARCHSERVER_ACTYS, NOTE, 'reports') AS T1 ON T1.[Key]=SA.UNIQUE_ID WHERE SA.CHG_DATE'19 Feb 2010' Looking at the execution plan for the two queries, I can see that in the second case there are two places where there are huge differences between the actual and estimated number of rows, these being: 1) For the FulltextMatch table valued function where the estimate is approx 22,000 rows and the actual is 29 million rows (which are then filtered down to 1670 rows before the join) and 2) For the index seek on the full text index, where the estimate is 1 row and the actual is 13,000 rows As a result of the estimates, the optimiser is choosing to use a nested loops join (since it assumes a small number of rows) hence the plan is inefficient. We can work around the problem by either (a) parameterising the query and adding an OPTION (OPTIMIZE FOR UNKNOWN) to the query or (b) by forcing a HASH JOIN to be used. In both of these cases the query returns in sub 1 second and the estimates appear reasonable. My question really is 'why are the estimates being used in the poorly performing case so wildly inaccurate and what can be done to improve them'? Statistics are up to date on the indexes on the indexed view being used here. Any help greatly appreciated.

  I have a textbox in my xaml file which is editable. Now according to my project requirements content in textbox should only be 0-9 and a-f (hexadecimal values) and textbox should take the input based on hexadecimal values. Demonstratation: 12 ab 32 a5 64 Now if my cursor is at the end and i go on pressing backspace, it shud remove the values as it happens in a general text box. Now If my cursor is at the beginning of a5, and i press "delete key", the value should become like: 12 ab 32 56 4 If my cursor is at the end of a5 and i press the 'delete key" nothing should happen. • SQL Server: Clustering by timestamp; pros/cons

  I have a table in SQL Server, where i want inserts to be added to the end of the table (as opposed to a clustering key that would cause them to be inserted in the middle). This means I want the table clustered by some column that will constantly increase. This could be achieved by clustering on a datetime column: CREATE TABLE Things ( ... CreatedDate datetime DEFAULT getdate(), [timestamp] timestamp, CONSTRAINT [IX_Things] UNIQUE CLUSTERED (CreatedDate) ) But I can't guaranteed that two Things won't have the same time. So my requirements can't really be achieved by a datetime column. I could add a dummy identity int column, and cluster on that: CREATE TABLE Things ( ... RowID int IDENTITY(1,1), [timestamp] timestamp, CONSTRAINT [IX_Things] UNIQUE CLUSTERED (RowID) ) But you'll notice that my table already constains a timestamp column; a column which is guaranteed to be a monotonically increasing. This is exactly the characteristic I want for a candidate cluster key. So I cluster the table on the rowversion (aka timestamp) column: CREATE TABLE Things ( ... [timestamp] timestamp, CONSTRAINT [IX_Things] UNIQUE CLUSTERED (timestamp) ) Rather than adding a dummy identity int column (RowID) to ensure an order, I use what I already have. What I'm looking for are thoughts of why this is a bad idea; and what other ideas are better. Note: Community wiki, since the answers are subjective.

  Hi all, I'm so frustrated because of this problem, you have no idea... I have 2 classes: Post and Comment. I use EF 4 POCO support, I don't have foreign key columns in my .edmx model (Comment class doesn't have PostID property, but has Post property) class Comment { public Post post { get; set; } // ... } class Post { public virtual ICollection<Comment> Comments { get; set; } // ... } Can someone tell me why the code below doesn't work? • Browser: Cookie lost on refresh

  I am experiencing a strange behaviour of my application in Chrome browser (No problem with other browsers). When I refresh a page, the cookie is being sent properly, but intermittently the browser doesn't seem to pass the cookie on some refreshes. This is how I set my cookie: $identifier = / some weird string /; $key = md5(uniqid(rand(), true)); $timeout = number_format(time(), 0, '.', '') + 43200; setcookie('fboxauth', $identifier . Thank you for any suggestion. EDIT-01: It seems that the cookie is not being sent with some requests. This happens intermittently and I am seeing this behaviour for ALL the browsers now.
