• Wrap Sub as Function for use in Lambda

  I have a problem with VB and Moq. I need to call a verify on a Sub. Like so: logger.Verify(Function(x) x.Log, Times.AtLeastOnce) And my logger looks like this: Public Interface ILogger Sub Log() End Interface But with VB this is not possible, because the Log method is a Sub, and thereby does not produce a value. I don't want to change the method to be a function. Whats the cleanest way of working around this limitation and is there any way to wrap the Sub as a Function like the below? logger.Verify(Function(x) ToFunc(AddressOf x.Log)) I have tried this, but i get: Lambda Parameter not in scope

• Nagios escalation debugging

  I'm having some issues with escalations happening properly and I'm not sure if it's because of my config or because the nagios binary is nonstandard and something may be broken. I've got little experience with nagios, and just want to make sure this is being set appropriately. Should the following config file definition allow the escalations to take over and increment the notification interval as expected? Is there somewhere else in the config files I should be looking at to figure out what's going on? I've enabled debug 32 in the config and it's simply spitting out 'Host notification will NOT be escalated.' for each notification. • C# compile error for simple Annual Salary Calculator

  I am new to C# and trying to create my 1st app. I have 3 errors. The first two say that txtSalary and Salary do not exist. The 3rd says that it cannot convert method group 'ToString' to non-delegate type 'string'. and asks if I intend to invoke the method. Here is what I have: protected void Button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { int salary, AnnualHours, Rate; string txtAnnualHours, txtSalary, txtRate; salary = AnnualHours * Rate; txtsalary = int.Parse(Salary); txtAnnualHours = salary.ToString; MessageBox.Show(salary); } According to my book, when you enter numerics in AnnualHours and Rate textbox, when click Button1, these values are converted from string to integers, then multiplied for salary. Then numeric answer converted to string and displayed in messagebox named txtSalary. Please show me what I got wrong because according to the book, I am not missing anything.

• [iOS] How to catch cancallation of UIScrollView or others?

  Sometimes, interruptions such as phone call occur and disturb a regular behavior of an app in iPhone or iPad. For example, I created one UIScrollView instance and implemented UIScrollView delegate methods: scrollViewWillBeginDragging and scrollViewDidEndDragging(and scrollViewDidEndDecelerating). A scrollViewWillBeginDragging method deactivated all custom buttons in my app. Then scrollViewDidEndDragging and scrollViewDidEndDecelerating methods activated these custom buttons. That is, while the user scrolled, all custom buttons became deactivated for a while. The problem was that while the user started to drag and just held an UIScrollView instance, if I took a screenshot by pressing a home button and a power button, then any of scrollViewDidEndDragging and scrollViewDidEndDecelerating didn't get called. So the app became messed up. I implemented a UIApplicationWillResignActiveNotification method in my UIViewController, but it didn't get called after taking a screenshot. How can I catch any kind of interruption that disturbs a regular flow of events? Sometimes, touchesEnd and touchesCanceled didn't get called too due to an interruption. Thank you.

  I have three entities that must interact: User, SupportTicketand PhoneConversation. When someone calls in requesting help, the User should have a SupportTicket assigned to him, with a PhoneConversation assigned to the Ticked describing the call. My question is: In what entity should I put the method CreatePhoneSupportTicket() that creates a new SupportTicket and a PhoneConversation, relates them to each other and finally relates the SupportTicket to the User? I'm guessing it can't be on the user because that would violate the SRP (the user does a few more things). But the method itself does more than one thing, it should create both a SupportTicket and a PhoneConversation. Is this a situation when a Service is a better solution then putting methods on entities? Thanks for your help!

  I have a problem, which should be simple to solve, but i can't find the method to call to solve this problem: My problem is, that every Task Event (org.activiti.engine.task.Event) returnes null by calling Event.getUserId(); If I take a look into the database I see that the database table ACT_HI_COMMENT has null as value for the column USER_ID_ for every row. I generate these TaskEvents programmatically by calling (for example) processEngine.getTaskService().addComment(task.getId(), null, commentMessage); processEngine.getTaskService().addUserIdentityLink(task.getId(), user.getId(), IDENTITY_LINK_OBSERVER); I guess there is a simple method that I must call to solve this problem, something like processEngine.setCurrentUser(authenticatedUser.getId()); Any suggestions?

• Printing python tkinter output

  I am trying to print the contents of a python tkinter canvas. I have tried using the postscript method of canvas to create a postscript file, but I get a blank page. I know this is because I have embedded widgets, and these do not get rendered by the postscript method. Before I rewrite my program to create a more printer-friendly layout, can someone suggest a way to approach this problem? All of the programming books I have ever read approach the problem of sending output to a printer with a bit of hand-waving, something along the lines of: "It's a difficult problem that depends on interacting with the operating system." I also have a hard time finding resources about this because of all the pages related to printing to the screen. I am using Python 2.6, on Ubuntu 9.04.

• Grails unit testing and bootstrap

  I wrote an unit test for a controller. I have a Bootstrap file which alter the metaclass of domain classes by adding a method asPublicMap(). I use this method in the controller to return domain classes as json but only some selected public fields. My unit test failed because of MissingMethodException for asPublicMap(). As I understood, bootstrap classes are not loaded for unit tests, only for integration tests. That's why I got this error. My question is : Is there another place to put metaclass manipulation in order to take them into account during unit tests ?

  Im trying to create a xml file from a POJO , in which i have a property that stores urls, I have been using the below method to replace all & in the url String to make the xml conform to standards and pass it as an html char entity but the string does not change. public static String forHrefAmpersand(String aURL){ return aURL.replaceAll("&", "&"); } the value might be www.abc.com/controller?a=1&next=showResults I have even tried changing the above method to use "/" as i read replaceAll uses regular expression but replaceAll is not working as exprected, Can anyone tell me what is the mistake im doing ?   I have an IronPython script that looks for current running processes using WMI. I believe that I may need to pass an instance of ManagementOperationObserver and of EnumerationOptions to GetInstance() however, I don't understand why that is, since the method with the signature Getinstance() is available in ManagementClass.

• Virtual folder for multiple sites

  I am creating a very simple flat file CMS for small (multilingual) websites. The little file writing that goes on is handled by 4 scripts in a publicly available folder in each site named /edit. Given that I have 2 websites now working on that simple system: websiteA/index.php (etc) websiteA/edit/ websiteB/index.php (etc) websiteB/edit/ What is the best way of making that /edit folder "virtual" in order that these and each subsequent website owner can login to their view of /edit and yet the code only exists in one place. I do not want the website owners to have to login from a central website, but from their own /edit directory. I have already read about different solutions seemingly using the <Directory> directive in my httpd.conf declaration for each website, and also using straight mod_rewrite but admit to now becoming confused about some of the terminology. Each website has its own config file which contains path settings and so on. What in your opinion is the best way to handle this? EDIT In light of a reply, I suppose that given a virtual host directive such as this: <VirtualHost 00.00.00.00:80> DocumentRoot /var/www/html/websitea.com ServerName www.websitea.com ServerAlias websitea.com DirectoryIndex index.htm index.php CustomLog logs/websitea combined </VirtualHost> Is it possible to create an alias inside that directive for the folder websitea.com/edit ?

  I am trying to intercept a asp.net web request and based on a lookup replace the page thats going to be rendered to the client. example: is a request for "/about-us" comes to my web server, i will first see if i have a version of this in the database, otherwise i will revert to flat files. The version i will retrieve from the database will be a .aspx page that has to be rendered and containt web controls and inline serverside script. What is the best way to go about this? I have tried overriding the CreateHtmlTextWriter method but this seems too late in the process as the TextWriter passed to this method is already instantiated. I have also tried to Implement my own PageHandlerFactory but this seems to create an instance of Page of which i cannot seem to override its internal setting of the Response.Output stream. Amd i barking up the wrong tree here? what is the best approach to take here?

Note: Other HTTP request methods, such as PUT and DELETE, can also be used here, but they are not supported by all browsers. So... Does that mean that PUT and DELETE won't work if the browser does not support it, or just that PUT and DELETE can not be done natively by the user in the browser? If I can't or shouldn't use those, what do people usually do instead? Send the method as a a GET or POST parameter instead? Or?

  I have a page in ASP.NET where I'm using a Repeater to display a record listing. But it's slow as molasses, I've been tasked with speeding it up (sorting,paging). I've got it set up as follows: When user enters page, grab all of the data from the database (500 records, up to 4 relation'ed records) Store it all in Application["MyDataView"] On sort or paging, simply use the data view's internal sort/page method (no db calls) and rebind. I understand that databases can take time to query, but simply to have the DataView call it's sort method (no db calls) takes 10ish seconds, that's an alarmingly slow. Two questions: Why is it taking so long? How can I speed it up? A gridview is not possible.

  Hi everyone, I have been working on a simple text editor in Cocoa/Objective-C for a practice project and I have come across an error that I would never have expected. I have an NSString for my file's contents as well as an NSString for it's path. When I attempt to write the contents to a file, I use the following method: [FileContents writeToFile: CurrentFileName atomically: NO encoding: NSStringEncoding error: nil]; I've used this method many times without error yet today, I am getting an error: "Expected expression before 'NSStringEncoding'" If anyone can help me out with this it would be greatly appreciated.   My problem is that I have a method that can take a collection as parameter that, Has a Count property Has an integer indexer (get-only) And I don't know what type should this parameter be. I would choose IList<T> before .NET 4.5 since there is no other indexable collection interface for this and arrays implement it, which is a big plus. But .NET 4.5 introduces the new IReadOnlyList<T> interface and I want my method to support that, too. How can I write this method to support both IList<T> and IReadOnlyList<T> without violating the basic principles like DRY? Can I convert IList<T> to IReadOnlyList<T> somehow in an overload? What is the way to go here?   Whether we're maintaining unfamiliar code or checking out the implementation details of an Apache module it can help if we can quickly traverse the code and build up an overview of what we're looking at. Grep serves most of my daily needs but there are some cases where it just wont do. Here's a common example of how it can help. To find the definition of a PHP function I'm interested in I can type this at the command line: grep -r "function myfunc" . This could be adapted very quickly to C or C++ if we know the return type, but things become more complicated if, say, I want to list every method that my class provides: grep "function " ./src/mine.class.php Since there's no single keyword that denotes a function or method in C++ and because it's generally more complex syntax, I think I'd need some kind of static code analysis tool, smart use of the C Preprocessor or blind faith the coder followed strict code guidelines (# of whitespace, position of curlies etc) to get these sorts of results. What would you recommend? p.s. be nice, this is my first post ;-) :p

• strange bug - how to pause a java program?

  I'm trying to: display a text in a jLabel, wait for two seconds, then write a new text in the jLabel this should be simple, but I get a strange bug: the first text is never written, the application just waits for 2 seconds and then displays the final text. here is the example code: private void testButtonActionPerformed(java.awt.event.ActionEvent evt) { displayLabel.setText("Clicked!"); // first method with System timer /* long t0= System.currentTimeMillis(); long t1= System.currentTimeMillis(); do{ t1 = System.currentTimeMillis(); } while ((t1 - t0) < (2000)); */ // second method with thread.sleep() try { Thread.currentThread().sleep(2000); } catch (InterruptedException e) {} displayLabel.setText("STOP"); } with this code, the text "Clicked!" is never displayed.   I am about to have some fun with the css transform matrix and javascript. At the moment everything is cool, except when a number becomes something like 0.000034e3344 after the to string conversion. Than the transform does not work. So I know that there is the Number.toFixed() method which actually solves the problem, but i ask myself how many trailing decimals make sense. So what is the highest value i can pass to the toFixed() method to get the most precise results? EDIT::: the exact number output was: 9.685539407532573e-20

The second has a nicer syntax but loads the entire list of that accounts projects, then does in memory filtering.
