  • How to programmatically disable onClick handler on Android AppWidget Button

    I have a Button on appwidget, that I need to 'enable'/'disable' programmatically from a Service. First idea was to call setBoolean(R.id.buttonid, "setClickable", false) to disable it, but apparently you can't call setClickable remotely. Another idea was was remove the text label from it with rv.setTextViewText(R.id.buttonid, "") and then remove the click handler by rv.setOnClickPendingIntent(R.id.buttonid, null). Unfortunately passing null to it causes NullPointerException in in android.app.ActivityThread.handleServiceArgs Is there some other way to programmatically disable/enable appwidget Button? I could just call rv.setViewVisibility(R.id.buttonid, View.GONE) to hide the button completely instead of disabling it. This would however completely break whole widget layout and I would like to avoid it. The solution I'm using now is hiding the button with setViewVisibility and showing other blank button instead to the keep appwidget layout as it was before.

    Hi, I want to disable script errors from popping up in a VB6 application. (I have VB6 installed on this machine). Currently, if I navigate to a particular page, it pops up saying "INternet Explorer Script Error: An error has ocurred in the script on this page" ... "Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?" Setting the webbrowser1.silent to 'true' does not work. Instead all that happens, is instead of displaying an error message, it starts up the actual 'script' debugger, and then exits the program. On a machine without the (visual studio) debugger, it still pops up a message asking to use the debugger, i.e., on Vista, (when silent is set to true). Manually changing the 'disable script debugging (other)' (and regular one), doesn't seem to working in MSIE (also testing version 6.0 for xp users). How do I disable script errors?     Ever since upgrading to Visual Studio 2010, I'm running into an issue where the first web request of any type (WebRequest, WebClient, etc.) hangs for about 20 seconds before completing. Subsequent calls work quickly. I've narrowed down the problem to a proxy issue. If I manually disable proxy settings, I don't experience this delay: Dim wrq As WebRequest = WebRequest.Create(Url) wrq.Proxy = Nothing What's strange is that there are no proxy settings enabled on this machine in Internet Options. What I'm wondering is if there is a way to disable proxy settings for my entire project in one shot without explicitly disabling as above for every web object. The main reason I want to be able to do this is that I'm trying to use an API (http://code.google.com/p/google-api-for-dotnet/) which uses web requests, but does not provide any way to manually disable proxy settings. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

    My app has several buttons which trigger different events. The user should NOT be able to hold down several buttons. Anyhow, holding down several buttons crashes the app. And so, I'm trying to disable multi-touch in my app. I've unchecked 'Multiple Touch' in all the xib files, and as far as I can work out, the properties 'multipleTouchEnabled' and 'exclusiveTouch' control whether the view uses multitouch. So in my applicationDidFinishLaunching I've put this: self.mainViewController.view.multipleTouchEnabled=NO; self.mainViewController.view.exclusiveTouch =YES; And in each of my view controllers I've put this in the viewDidLoad self.view.multipleTouchEnabled=NO; self.view.exclusiveTouch=YES; However, it still accepts multiple touches. I could do something like disable other buttons after getting a touch down event, but this would be an ugly hack. Surely there is a way to properly disable multi-touch?

    I have some code to enable/disable the Windows Aero service in Vista, and I would like to run it in a Windows Service. The code works in a standalone application, but when I run it from a Service, nothing happens. No errors or exceptions are thrown. I realise that running code in a service is a different scope than running code in an application, but in this case, how would I enable/disable Aero from the service? Is this even possible? It sets the window station and desktop, and it seems to be correct, but the call to DwmEnableComposition results in the same error.     I am about to run a massive data insert into my DB. I have managed to work out how to enable and rebuild non-clustered indexes on my tables but I also want to disable/enable primary keys. You can't disable the clustered index for the primary key as the table is inaccessible when that is done and my attempt to do a ALTER TABLE for constraints does not work as I think that is only for foreign keys. Do you know of a way to Disable the Primary Key and Re-Enable After SQL Bulk Insert. NOTE: This is over numerous tables and so I don't know the exact primary key specifications eg/name etc

  • Howto disable the emacs site-start files permanently?

    When solving this problem I figured out that I need to disable the site-wise init files in order to get my emacs + CEDET running (everything works nicely when starting emacs using emacs --no-site-file but is broken without the additional argument). I'd like to disable the site-wise init files permanently but as I'm using several different approaches/methods when launching emacs (launcher/panel/terminal) I don't think aliasing it in my .zshrc won't work. I require a method to permanently disable all site-start files. Is there any easy way to achieve this? Thanks!

But after also synching the contacts, each Outlook instance creates a birthday event for that contact. So I end up with 2 Birthday reminders.     In this blog post I’ll be covering, 01: Where to download Quartz.net from 02: How to install Quartz.net as a Windows service 03: Test the Quartz.net Installation If you are new to Quartz.net I would recommend reading the blog post on a brief introduction to Quartz.net. 01 – Where to download Quartz.net? http://sourceforge.net/projects/quartznet/files/quartznet/       Currently version  Quartz.Net 2.0.1 is the recommended download version. 02 – How to install Quartz.net as a Windows service         Go to the download location and unzip the Quartz.net package Navigate to the folder Quartz.Net \ Server \ bin – This is where you will find different .net version installers of the quartz.net packages. For example in the screen shot above, you can see the Quartz.net .net 3.5 and .net 4 packages. Open up the Quartz.net .net 4.0 folder, this folder contains the files you need to install Quartz.net as a windows service Copy the contents of the folder Downloads\Quartz.NET-2.0.1\server\bin\4.0 to the folder %program files%\Quartz.net   5. Open up a new CMD as an administrator and run the below command to install Quartz.net as a windows service /> Quartz.Server.exe install 6. How do I know that Quartz.Net service has installed as a Windows service? Go to run prompt and type ‘services.msc’ you should now see all the windows services installed on your machine. Open up cmd as an administrator and run the below command, C:\Program Files (x86)\Quartz.Net> Quartz.Server.exe –i Since by default the Quartz.net windows service writes INFO level diagnostics (this can be changed from Quartz.Server.exe.config) you should see the service information show up on the console. For instance in the example above I can see that the service is running in a NON CLUSTERED mode, its currently not started and is currently in standby mode with 0 number of jobs executed so far… This was second in the series of posts on enterprise scheduling using Quartz.net, in the next post I’ll be covering how to run your first scheduled task using Quartz.net windows service. Any reason not to do it or any general thoughts about it? Edit: for clarification, this is not disabling general RAM paging. This is disabling having kernel memory paged (or at least parts of it, as Charlls noted).

I started using Windows Identity Foundation when I made my first experiments on Windows Azure AppFabric Access Control Service. I wanted to generalize the way how people authenticate theirselves to my systems and AppFabric ACS seemed to me like good point where to start. My first steps trying to get things work opened the door to whole new authentication world for me. As I went through different blog postings and articles to get more information I discovered that the thing I am trying to use is the one I am looking for. As best security API for .NET was found I wanted to know more about it and this is how I found Programming Windows Identity Foundation. What’s inside? Programming WIF focuses on architecture, design and implementation of WIF. I think Vittorio is very good at teaching people because you find no too complex topics from the book. You learn more and more as you read and as a good thing you will find that you can also try out your new knowledge on WIF immediately. After giving good overview about WIF author moves on and introduces how to use WIF in ASP.NET applications. You will get complete picture how WIF integrates to ASP.NET request processing pipeline and how you can control the process by yourself. There are two chapters about ASP.NET. First one is more like introduction and the second one goes deeper and deeper until you have very good idea about how to use ASP.NET and WIF together, what issues you may face and how you can configure and extend WIF. Other two chapters cover using WIF with Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) band   Windows Azure. WCF chapter expects that you know WCF very well. This is not introductory chapter for beginners, this is heavy reading if you are not familiar with WCF. The chapter about Windows Azure describes how to use WIF in cloud applications.     Hi all, I want to prevent MySQL from starting in Ubuntu 10.04 I have used update-rc.d -f mysql remove and confirmed that there is no link to the /etc/inid.d/mysql script from any of the rc?.d directories. I also ran sysv-rc-conf and it shows me that MySQL is being called as part of the rc.d scripts. It is still starting on boot. How do I disable it? Regards, Bryan

  • Edit the Windows Live Writer Custom Dictionary

    Windows Live Writer is a great tool for writing and publishing posts to your blog, but its spell check unfortunately doesn’t include many common tech words.  Here’s how you can easily edit your custom dictionary and add your favorite words. Customize Live Writer’s Dictionary Adding an individual word to the Windows Live Writer dictionary works as you would expect.  Right-click on a word and select Add to dictionary. And changing the default spell check settings is easy too.  In the menu, click Tools, then Options, and select the Spelling tab in this dialog.  Here you can choose your dictionary language and turn on/off real-time spell checking and other settings. But there’s no obvious way to edit your custom dictionary.  Editing the custom dictionary directly is nice if you accidently add a misspelled word to your dictionary and want to remove it, or if you want to add a lot of words to the dictionary at once. Live Writer actually stores your custom dictionary entries in a plain text file located in your appdata folder.  It is saved as User.dic in the C:\Users\user_name\AppData\Roaming\Windows Live Writer\Dictionaries folder.  The easiest way to open the custom dictionary is to enter the following in the Run box or the address bar of an Explorer window: %appdata%\Windows Live Writer\Dictionaries\User.dic   This will open the User.dic file in your default text editor.  Add any new words to the custom dictionary on separate lines, and delete any misspelled words you accidently added to the dictionary.   Microsoft Office Word also stores its custom dictionary in a plain text file.  If you already have lots of custom words in it and want to import them into Live Writer, enter the following in the Run command or Explorer’s address bar to open Word’s custom dictionary.  Then copy the words, and past them into your Live Writer custom dictionary file. %AppData%\Microsoft\UProof\Custom.dic Don’t forget to save the changes when you’re done.  Note that the changes to the dictionary may not show up in Live Writer’s spell check until you restart the program.  If it’s currently running, save any posts you’re working on, exit, and then reopen, and all of your new words should be in the dictionary. Conclusion Whether you use Live Writer daily in your job or occasionally post an update to a personal blog, adding your own custom words to the dictionary can save you a lot of time and frustration in editing.  Plus, if you’ve accidently added a misspelled word to the dictionary, this is a great way to undo your mistake and make sure your spelling is up to par!
