  • Error when starting Outlook 2007 on Windows 7

    - by Jared
Every time I start Outlook 2007 SP2 on my Windows 7 box Outlook will look like its loading fine, then I get this error message: cannot start microsoft office outlook. cannot open the outlook window and outlook will close. I was able to get outlook to start by using outlook.exe /resetnavpane in the Start-Search box, a nice tip which I got from this social.microsoft.com page. But it didn't fix the problem since outlook is still complaining when it starts after a reboot. What can I do to get outlook to startup normally?

  • Move email off Small Business Server to Google Apps, retain other SBS functions?

    - by Paul S.
Recently, an in-house Microsoft Small Business Server 2011 was installed where I work. Unfortunately, our buildings have a bad electrical power supply and we suffer frequent outages. We have a large percentage of staff working off-site. Now when the power goes off here, everyone everywhere loses email functionality. I have been assigned to research the possibility of routing our email to Google Apps while maintaining LAN functions on the SBS. I haven't worked with Microsoft products for several years now, so do not know how SBS is structured. Can anyone here tell me if this is possible, or point me to good resources that explain our options?

  • setreg.exe for Windows 7

    - by victoriah
I want to use setreg.exe (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa387700(VS.85).aspx) to disable the certificate revocation check. However, it's based on an older version of .NET than what I have. Microsoft says it's shipped with the older .net SDK, and when I download that, try to install, it says something like 'can't install SDK without .net 1.1'. In the article linked it says for newer versions I should use SignTool, but SignTool does not appear to have the function I need . Is it possible to either - a) find a tool that can perform the function I need that doesn't need me to install the older .NET b) get setreg.exe without downloading the SDK or do I need to install the older .NET on my machine? And if the latter is the case, what do I need to do to install an older .NET? Will it overwrite my current .NET? Thanks,

  • Which rdisk value in boot.ini maps to which disk?

    - by MA1
Following are the contents of a sample boot.ini: [boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN /FASTDETECT multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT="Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN /FASTDETECT The rdisk value tells the physical disk number. So, if I have three hard disks say: /dev/sda /dev/sdb /dev/sdc Then how to know which disk (/dev/sda or /dev/sdb or /dev/sdc) is rdisk(0) and which disk is rdisk(1), etc.?

  • IntelliPoint & Intellitype upgrade to Mouse and Keyboard Center causing system freeze?

    - by Kent England
I allowed Microsoft to upgrade my wireless keyboard 6000 v3.0 and mouse 6000 v2.0 from Intelliyada v 8.20.468 to what appears to be v9.1.486. This was some time ago, so I can't be certain but this upgrade might be causing my system to freeze on the logon screen (user selection) in Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit. Mouse and keyboard don't work, but system seems to be running underneath. No indication in Event Viewer about keyboard/mouse driver issues. Might be problem with transceiver hardware. I now have the "Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center" UI which isn't very helpful (seems to be very metro) in debugging these drivers. I'm just looking to see if anyone else had problems upgrading to this new Intelliyada software for their MS keyboard and rodent.

  • need help setting up a VPN for remote computer connection

    - by Chowdan
I am on a low budget right now. I am currently in the process of starting a computer company. I am in need of a VPN network so I can run Dameware tools for working on customers/partners computers remotely. I will be working with Windows and some Apple and linux machines. I have desktop with an AMD Phenom II 965BE(currently running stable at 3.8Ghz) processor with 8 GB of ram and a radeon hd 6870(i know graphics aren't too useful) and about 1.5TB of HDD space. I am attempting to create a network out of my office based all on one machine that would also be secure for me to remotely connect to my partners computers so when they have issues I would be able to connect and do the diagnosing and repairs remotely. What types of servers besides a VPN server would i need to create this? I have access to all Microsoft products so I can run Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2008 R2, or any other Microsoft Software. thanks for the help all

  • SQL 2008/2005 Hosting :: Error - “Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 – Could not open a connection to SQL Server”

    - by mbridge
When setting up a Microsoft Windows Server 2008 system, I went through the motions to set up IIS, MS SQL Server 2008, and Visual Studio 2010 to use as a test-bed. One of the immediate benefits of setting up such a system is that most development can be done remotely: MS SQL Server Management Studio, Visual Studio’s Web development suite, as well as file shares, remote desktop, etc, make for a great way to remotely develop in ‘pristine’ conditions. But there are drawbacks, too, such as needing to deal with firewall issues, not being able to penetrate past a router or the requirement of setting up a VPN. One of the problems I encountered when trying to remote into the MS SQL Server 2008 that I’d set up was the following error: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 – Could not open a connection to SQL Server I followed the below steps, and was able to connect to the server after just a few moments of tinkering: 1. From the server in question, surf to this Microsoft article, and download and install the Firewall rules modification program. Never drop your firewall, even on a development machine, unless you have a really good reason to. 2. Launch SQL Server Configuration Manager. Navigate to SQL Server Network Configuration, then Protocols for your server name. Enable TCP/IP and Named Pipes by right-clicking and choosing Enable for each given Protocol Name. 3. Restart the SQL Server service from Services (or from command line, subsequently run “net stop mssqlserver” then “net start mssqlserver”. 4. Try your remote connection once more, and you should be able to connect. It’s not a terribly difficult concept, but one of the more challenging tasks developers face is dealing with environment setup. And while there is a certain blurred-line overlap between software development and server administration, sometimes the latter is daunting, especially given that you might set up only a handful of servers during your career.

  • win7-64sp1: Rename folder (including zip file) error popup

    - by P a u l
With the install of win7-64sp1 I get a windows explorer popup on any folder rename including .zip files. "Could not find this item" They are referring to the old name. What a bug. If I click "Try Again' the popup goes away, folder is renamed. Lots of posts on the net about this but no fixes. I tried a registry patch (that I shouldn't have) and it did nothing to fix. My experience with Microsoft is that they will never fix this, and want me to buy windows 8. This started happening after the install of sp1. I posted in one of the zillions of ridiculously byzantine and almost useless Microsoft forums but expect no answer there. They'll probably tell me to reinstall windows.

  • Windows 8 Update on Bootcamp

    - by RazorSharp
I currently have Windows 8 Consumer Preview installed on a Mac Bootcamp Partition. Microsoft recently released the Windows 8 Release Preview, and I'd like to upgrade, but I'm worried that upgrading to the Release Preview (while in the Windows 8 partition) will erase my other partitions (ex. the Mac OS X partition). By upgrading from Consumer to Release (using the installer on Microsoft's website) while IN the Windows 8 partition, will it end up re-formating the whole hard drive / erasing partitions / removing Mac OS X? Are there any 100% positive answers out there? Will this work, and if not then how would you suggest updating? Note: I have a Time Machine backup of my Mac, but it isn't the WHOLE Mac.

  • A unique identifier for a Domain

    - by jchoover
I asked a question over on StackOverflow and was directed to ask a related one here to see if I could get any additional input. Basically, I am looking to have my application aware of what domain it's running under, if any at all. (I want to expose certain debugging facilities only in house, and due to our deployment model it isn't possible to have a different build.) Since I am over paranoid, I didn't want to just rely on the domain name to ensure we are in house. As such I noted the DOMAIN_CONTROLLER_INFO (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms675912(v=vs.85).aspx ) returned from DsGetDcName (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms675983(v=vs.85).aspx) has a GUID associated with it, however I can find little if any information on it. I am assuming this GUID is generated at the time the first DC in a domain is created, and that it would live on for the life of the domain. Does anyone else have any inner knowledge and would be kind enough to confirm or deny my assumptions?

  • How to know ".automaticDestinations-ms" files to which app relates?

    - by Timotei Dolean
Hello! Does anyone know (Because on microsoft forums nobody answered me), how can I find what app has which automaticDestinations-ms file in %appdata%\microsoft\windows\recent\automaticdestinations ? That's the folder where Windows 7 stores its jump lists, and I want to know how to automatically/programmatic find the relation between each file and an application. At least, even manual I didn't found any pattern, just to look after file extensions in the files, because some programs open files with the same extension (like images), so this method it's not OK for all programs. Do you have any other idea? Maybe knowing the format of those files? Thanks.

  • MSVC Compiler options with mojo-native in Maven

    - by graham.reeds
I'm trying to set up a test environment with Maven to build VC++ and I am way behind on this. I have 3 source files that I builds a dll (once I get this fixed it should be a simple matter to add the unit-tests): hook.cpp hook.h hook.def This is compiled, on the command line, with the following: C:\Develop\hook\src\main\msvc>cl -o hook.dll Hook.cpp /D HOOK_DLLEXPORT /link /DLL /DEF:"Hook.def" Which produces the expected obj, dll, lib and exp files. • SMO ConnectionContext.StatementTimeout setting is ignored

    - by Woody
I am successfully using Powershell with SMO to backup most databases. However, I have several large databases in which I receive a "timeout" error "System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Timeout expired". The timout consistently occurs at 10 minutes. I have tried setting ConnectionContext.StatementTimeout to 0, 6000, and to [System.Int32]::MaxValue. The setting made no difference. I have found a number of Google references which indicate setting it to 0 makes it unlimited. No matter what I try, the timeouts consistently occur at 10 minutes. I even set Remote Query Timeout on the server to 0 (via Studio Manager) to no avail. Below is my SMO connection where I set the time out and the actual backup function. Further below is the output from my script. UPDATE Interestingly enough, I wrote the backup function in C# using VS 2008 and the timeout override does work within that environment. I am in the process of incorporating that C# process into my Powershell Script until I can find out why the timeout override does not work with just Powershell. • Azure git deployment - missing references in 2nd assembly

Any ideas?

  • System.Reflection and InvokeMember, storing type, assembly, and object in a class

    - by Cyclone
I have tested code to call a method inside of a compiled DLL, and it works. I created a class to store the object, type, and loaded assembly, but something is lost in translation because it is unable to find the member I wish to invoke. If I create a type, object, and assembly, and properly load everything into these and perform InvokeMember on the type, it works just fine. However, when I use the things inside of my class, it throws a MissingMemberException and does not invoke the member, obviously. What am I doing wrong? The member in question is a subroutine which takes one argument, a string. This is quite frustrating. Code being called: Dim MyLoadedAssembly As New LoadedAssembly() MyLoadedAssembly.MyAssembly = Assembly.LoadFrom("display.dll") MyLoadedAssembly.MyObject = MyLoadedAssembly.MyAssembly.CreateInstance("Display.UI.Window") MyLoadedAssembly.MyType = MyLoadedAssembly.MyAssembly.GetType("Display.UI.Window") Dim args() As Object = {"test"} MyLoadedAssembly.InvokeMember("Show", args) Private Class LoadedAssembly Public MyType As Type Public MyObject As Object Public MyAssembly As Assembly Public Function InvokeMember(ByVal name As String, ByVal args() As Object) Return MyType.InvokeMember(name, BindingFlags.Default Or BindingFlags.InvokeMethod Or BindingFlags.GetProperty Or BindingFlags.Instance, Nothing, MyObject, args) End Function End Class Code inside of display.dll: Namespace UI Public Class Window Private wind As New System.Windows.Forms.Form Public FullScreen As Boolean = False Public Overloads Sub Show(ByVal text As String) wind.Show() wind.Text = text End Sub Public Overloads Sub Show() wind.Show() End Sub End Class End Namespace The root namespace for display.dll is Display. • TwoWay Binding With ItemsControl

    - by Andrew
I'm trying to write a user control that has an ItemsControl, the ItemsTemplate of which contains a TextBox that will allow for TwoWay binding. However, I must be making a mistake somewhere in my code, because the binding only appears to work as if Mode=OneWay. This is a pretty simplified excerpt from my project, but it still contains the problem: <UserControl x:Class="ItemsControlTest.UserControl1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Height="300" Width="300"> <Grid> <StackPanel> <ItemsControl ItemsSource="{Binding Path=.}" x:Name="myItemsControl"> <ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <TextBox Text="{Binding Mode=TwoWay, UpdateSourceTrigger=LostFocus, Path=.}" /> </DataTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> </ItemsControl> <Button Click="Button_Click" Content="Click Here To Change Focus From ItemsControl" /> </StackPanel> </Grid> </UserControl> Here's the code behind for the above control: using System; using System.Windows; using System.Windows.Controls; using System.Collections.ObjectModel; namespace ItemsControlTest { /// <summary> /// Interaction logic for UserControl1.xaml /// </summary> public partial class UserControl1 : UserControl { public ObservableCollection<string> MyCollection { get { return (ObservableCollection<string>)GetValue(MyCollectionProperty); } set { SetValue(MyCollectionProperty, value); } } // Using a DependencyProperty as the backing store for MyCollection. This enables animation, styling, binding, etc... public static readonly DependencyProperty MyCollectionProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("MyCollection", typeof(ObservableCollection<string>), typeof(UserControl1), new UIPropertyMetadata(new ObservableCollection<string>())); public UserControl1() { for (int i = 0; i < 6; i++) MyCollection.Add("String " + i.ToString()); InitializeComponent(); myItemsControl.DataContext = this.MyCollection; } private void Button_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { // Insert a string after the third element of MyCollection MyCollection.Insert(3, "Inserted Item"); // Display contents of MyCollection in a MessageBox string str = ""; foreach (string s in MyCollection) str += s + Environment.NewLine; MessageBox.Show(str); } } } And finally, here's the xaml for the main window: <Window x:Class="ItemsControlTest.Window1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:src="clr-namespace:ItemsControlTest" Title="Window1" Height="300" Width="300"> <Grid> <src:UserControl1 /> </Grid> </Window> Well, that's everything. I'm not sure why editing the TextBox.Text properties in the window does not seem to update the source property for the binding in the code behind, namely MyCollection. Clicking on the button pretty much causes the problem to stare me in the face;) Please help me understand where I'm going wrong. Thanx! Andrew

  • SOAP call with query on result (SSRS, Sharepoint)

    - by Erik404
Hi! I created a report in VS using a shared data source which is connected to a sharepoint list. In the report I created a dataset with a SOAP call to the data source so I get the result from the sharepoint list in a table. this is the soap call <Query> <SoapAction>http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/GetListItems</SoapAction> <Method Namespace="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/" Name="GetListItems"> <Parameters> <Parameter Name="listName"> <DefaultValue>{BD8D39B7-FA0B-491D-AC6F-EC9B0978E0CE}</DefaultValue> </Parameter> <Parameter Name="viewName"> <DefaultValue>{E2168426-804F-4836-9BE4-DC5F8D08A54F}</DefaultValue> </Parameter> <Parameter Name="rowLimit"> <DefaultValue>9999</DefaultValue> </Parameter> </Parameters> </Method> <ElementPath IgnoreNamespaces="True">*</ElementPath> </Query> THis works fine, I have a result which I can show in a report, but I want to have the ability to select a parameter to filter the result on. I have created a parameter and when I preview the Report I see the dropdownbox which I can use to make a selection from the Title field, when I do this it still shows the first record, obviously it doens't work yet (DUH!) because I need to create a query somewhere, But! I have no idea where, I tried to include <Where> <Eq> <FieldRef Name="ows_Title" /> <Value Type="Text">testValue</Value> </Eq> </Where> in the the soap request but it didn't worked... I've searched teh intarwebz but couldn't find any simliar problems... kinda stuck now...any thoughts on this? EDIT Here's the query I used according to the blogpost Alex Angas linked. <Query> <SoapAction>http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/GetListItems</SoapAction> <Method Namespace="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/" Name="GetListItems"> <queryOptions></queryOptions> <query><Query> <Where> <Eq> <FieldRef Name="ows_Title"/> <Value Type="Text">someValue</Value> </Eq> </Where> </Query></query> <Parameters> <Parameter Name="listName"> <DefaultValue>{BD8D39B7-FA0B-491D-AC6F-EC9B0978E0CE}</DefaultValue> </Parameter> <Parameter Name="viewName"> <DefaultValue>{E2168426-804F-4836-9BE4-DC5F8D08A54F}</DefaultValue> </Parameter> <Parameter Name="rowLimit"> <DefaultValue>9999</DefaultValue> </Parameter> </Parameters> </Method> <ElementPath IgnoreNamespaces="True">*</ElementPath> </Query> I tried to put the new query statement in every possible way in the existing, but it doesn't work at all, I do not get an error though so the code is valid, but I still get an unfiltered list as return... pulling my hair out here!

  • WinQual: Why would WER not accept code-signing certificates?

    - by Ian Boyd
In 2005 i tried to establish a WinQual account with Microsoft, so i could pick up our (if any) crash dump files submitted automatically through Windows Error Reporting (WER). i was not allowed to have my crash dumps, because i don't have a Verisign certificate. Instead i have a cheaper one, generated by a Verisign subsidiary: Thawte. The method in which you join is: you digitally sign a sample exe they provide. This proves that you are the same signer that signed apps that they got crash dumps from in the wild. Cryptographically, the private key is needed to generate a digital signature on an executable. Only the holder of that private key can create a signature with for the matching public key. It doesn't matter who generated that private key. That includes certificates that are generated from: self-signing Wells Fargo DigiCert SecureTrust Trustware QuoVadis GoDaddy Entrust Cybertrust GeoTrust GlobalSign Comodo Thawte Verisign Yet Microsof's WinQual only accepts digital certificates generated by Verisign. Not even Verisign's subsidiaries are good enough (Thawte). Can anyone think of any technical, legal or ethical reason why Microsoft doesn't want to accept code-signing certificates? The WinQual site says: Why Is a Digital Certificate Required for Winqual Membership? A digital certificate helps protect your company from individuals who seek to impersonate members of your staff or who would otherwise commit acts of fraud against your company. Using a digital certificate enables proof of an identity for a user or an organization. Is somehow a Thawte digital certificate not secure? Two years later, i sent a reminder notice to WinQual that i've been waiting to be able to get at my crash dumps. The response from WinQual team was: Hello, Thanks for the reminder. We have notified the appropriate people that this is still a request. In 2008 i asked this question in a Microsoft support forum, and the response was: We are only setup to accept VeriSign Certificates at this point. We have not had an overwhelming demand to support other types of certificates. What can it possibly mean to not be "setup" to accept other kinds of certificates? If the thumbprint of the key that signed the WinQual.exe test app is the same as the thumbprint that signed the executable who's crash dump you got in the wild: it is proven - they are my crash dumps, give them to me. And it's not like there's a special API to check if a Verisign digital signature is valid, as opposed to all other digital signatures. A valid signature is valid no matter who generated the key. Microsoft is free to not trust the signer, but that's not the same as identity. So that is my question, can anyone think of any practical reason why WinQual isn't setup to support digital signatures? One person theorized that the answer is that they're just lazy: Not that I know but I would assume that the team running the winQual system is a live team and not a dev team - as in, personality and skillset geared towards maintenance of existing systems. I could be wrong though. They don't want to do work to change it. But can anyone think of anything that would need to be changed? It's the same logic no matter what generated the key: "does the thumbprint match". What am i missing?

  • WPF: Focus in a Window and UserControl

    - by Echilon
    I'm trying to get a UserControl to tab properly and am baffled. The logical tree looks like this. |-Window -Grid -TabControl -TabItem -StackPanel -MyUserControl |-StackPanel -GroupBox -Grid -ComboBox -Textbox1 -Textbox2 Everything works fine, except when the visibility converter for the ComboBox returns Visibility.Collapsed (don't allow user to change database mode), then when textbox1 is selected, instead of being able to tab through the controls in the UserControl, the focus shifts to a button declared at the bottom of the window. Nothing else apart from the controls displayed has TabIndex or FocusManager properties set. I'm banging my head against a brick wall and I must be missing something. I've tried IsFocusScope=True/False, played with FocusedElement and nothing works if that ComboBox is invisible (Visibility.Collapsed). <Window x:Class="MyNamespace.Client.WinInstaller" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" FocusManager.FocusedElement="{Binding ElementName=tabWizard}"> <Window.Resources> <props:Settings x:Key="settings" /> </Window.Resources> <Grid Grid.IsSharedSizeScope="True"> <!-- row and column definitions omitted --> <loc:SmallHeader Grid.Row="0" x:Name="headerBranding" HeaderText="Setup" /> <TabControl x:Name="tabWizard" DataContext="{StaticResource settings}" SelectedIndex="0" FocusManager.IsFocusScope="True"> <TabItem x:Name="tbStart" Height="0"> <StackPanel> <TextBlock Text="Database Mode"/> <loc:DatabaseSelector x:Name="dbSelector" AllowChangeMode="False" TabIndex="1" AvailableDatabaseModes="SQLServer" IsPortRequired="False" DatabaseMode="{Binding Default.DbMode,Mode=TwoWay,UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged}" DatabasePath="{Binding Default.DatabasePath,Mode=TwoWay,UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged}"/> </StackPanel> </TabItem> ... The top of the user control is below: <UserControl x:Class="MyNamespace.Client.DatabaseSelector" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" x:Name="root" FocusManager.IsFocusScope="True" FocusManager.FocusedElement="{Binding ElementName=cboDbMode}"> <UserControl.Resources> <conv:DatabaseModeIsFileBased x:Key="DatabaseModeIsFileBased"/> <BooleanToVisibilityConverter x:Key="BooleanToVisibilityConverter"/> </UserControl.Resources> <StackPanel DataContext="{Binding}"> <GroupBox> <Grid> <!-- row and column definitions omitted --> <Label Content="Database Mode"/> <ComboBox x:Name="cboDbMode" SelectedValue="{Binding ElementName=root,Path=DatabaseMode,Mode=TwoWay,UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged}" DisplayMemberPath="Value" SelectedValuePath="Key" TabIndex="1" Visibility="{Binding AllowChangeMode,ElementName=root,Converter={StaticResource BooleanToVisibilityConverter}}" /> <!-- AllowChangeMode is a DependencyProperty on the UserControl --> <Grid><!-- row and column definitions omitted --> <Label "Host"/> <TextBox x:Name="txtDBHost" Text="{Binding ElementName=root,Path=DatabaseHost,Mode=TwoWay,UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged}" TabIndex="2" /> <TextBox x:Name="txtDBPort" Text="{Binding ElementName=root,Path=DatabasePortString,Mode=TwoWay,UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged}" TabIndex="3" />

  • There is an error in XML document... When calling to web service

    - by Sigurjón Guðbergsson
    I have created a web service and a function in it that should return a list of 11thousand records retreived from a pervasive database Here is my function in the web service. [WebService(Namespace = "http://tempuri.org/")] [WebServiceBinding(ConformsTo = WsiProfiles.BasicProfile1_1)] [System.ComponentModel.ToolboxItem(false)] public class BBI : System.Web.Services.WebService { [WebMethod] public List<myObject> getAll() { List<myObject> result = new List<myObject>(); PsqlConnection conn = new PsqlConnection("Host=soemthing;Port=something;Database=something;Encoding=IBM861"); conn.Open(); string strSql = "select 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 from something"; PsqlCommand DBCmd = new PsqlCommand(strSql, conn); PsqlDataReader myDataReader; myDataReader = DBCmd.ExecuteReader(); while (myDataReader.Read()) { myObject b = new myObject(); b.0 = Convert.ToInt32(myDataReader[0].ToString()); b.1 = myDataReader[1].ToString(); b.2 = myDataReader[2].ToString(); b.3 = myDataReader[3].ToString(); b.4 = myDataReader[4].ToString(); b.5 = myDataReader[5].ToString(); result.Add(b); } conn.Close(); myDataReader.Close(); return result; } } Then i add web reference to this web service in my client program and call the reference BBI.   • Possible to reverse order of ItemGroup elements?

    - by Filburt
    In MSBuild 3.5, is it possible to reverse the order elements in an ItemGroup? Example I have 2 projects. One can be built independently the other is dependent on the first. Each project references its specific items in a .targets file. project_A.targets <Project xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003"> <ItemGroup> <AssembliesToRemove Include="@(AssembliesToRemove)" /> <AssembliesToRemove Include="Assembly_A.dll"> <ApplicationName>App_A</ApplicationName> </AssembliesToRemove> </ItemGroup> <ItemGroup> <AssembliesToDeploy Include="@(AssembliesToDeploy)" /> <AssembliesToDeploy Include="Assembly_A.dll"> <AssemblyType>SomeType</AssemblyType> <ApplicationName>App_A</ApplicationName> </AssembliesToDeploy> </ItemGroup> </Project> project_B.targets <Project xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003"> <ItemGroup> <AssembliesToRemove Include="@(AssembliesToRemove)" /> <AssembliesToRemove Include="Assembly_B.dll"> <ApplicationName>App_B</ApplicationName> </AssembliesToRemove> </ItemGroup> <ItemGroup> <AssembliesToDeploy Include="@(AssembliesToDeploy)" /> <AssembliesToDeploy Include="Assembly_B.dll"> <AssemblyType>SomeType</AssemblyType> <ApplicationName>App_B</ApplicationName> </AssembliesToDeploy> </ItemGroup> </Project> project_A.proj <Project DefaultTargets="Start" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003"> <Import Project="project_A.targets" /> <Import Project="Common.targets" /> </Project> project_B.proj <Project DefaultTargets="Start" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003"> <Import Project="project_A.targets" /> <Import Project="project_B.targets" /> <Import Project="Common.targets" /> </Project> The Problem In this scenario the problem arises during the Task processing @(AssembliesToDeploy) because Assembly_B.dll needs to be deployed before Assembly_A.dll. What I tried to do I tried to influence the order of @(AssembliesToDeploy) by modifying project_B.targets like this: <ItemGroup> <AssembliesToDeploy Include="Assembly_B.dll"> <AssemblyType>SomeType</AssemblyType> <ApplicationName>App_B</ApplicationName> </AssembliesToDeploy> <AssembliesToDeploy Include="@(AssembliesToDeploy)" /> </ItemGroup> but when using project_B.targets inside project_B.proj the order inside @(AssembliesToDeploy) still remained Assembly_A.dll;Assembly_B.dll. Is there a solution which would allow to reuse my .targets i.e not copying all ItemGroup elements to all .targets files?

  • Play audio file data - Spring MVC

    - by Vijay Veeraraghavan
In my web-application, I have various audio clips uploaded by the users in the database stored in the BLOB column. The audio files are low bit rate WAV files. The clips are secured, one can see only those clips he has uploaded. Instead of user downloading the clip and playing it in his player, I need it be steamed online in the web page itself. In the jsp I use the <audio> tag with the source mapping to the controller mappping url. <td> <audio controls><source src="recfile/${au.id}" type="audio/mpeg" /></audio> </td> Where, the recfile is the request mapping and the au.id is the audio id. In the controller I process the request like below @RequestMapping(value = "/recfile/{id}", method = RequestMethod.GET, produces = { MediaType.APPLICATION_OCTET_STREAM_VALUE }) public HttpEntity<byte[]> downloadRecipientFile(@PathVariable("id") int id, ModelMap model, HttpServletResponse response) throws IOException, ServletException { LOGGER.debug("[GroupListController downloadRecipientFile]"); VoiceAudioLibrary dGroup = audioClipService.findAudioClip(id); if (dGroup == null || dGroup.getAudioData() == null || dGroup.getAudioData().length <= 0) { throw new ServletException("No clip found/clip has not data, id=" + id); } HttpHeaders header = new HttpHeaders(); I tried this too //header.setContentType(new MediaType("audio", "mp3")); header.setContentType(new MediaType("audio", "vnd.wave"); header.setContentLength(dGroup.getAudioData().length); return new HttpEntity<byte[]>(dGroup.getAudioData(), header); } When the jsp loads, the controller get the request, it serves back the audio data fetched from the database, the jsp too shows the player with the controls. But when I play it nothing happens. Why is it? Am I missing anything in the configuration? Am I doing it right?

  • Silverlight DataGrid: Hiding columns using VisualStateManager

    - by Lars Udengaard
    Is it possible to hide a column of a datagrid, without using codebehind? E.g. by using the VisualStateManager? <UserControl xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:data="clr-namespace:System.Windows.Controls;assembly=System.Windows.Controls.Data" x:Class="Buttons.MainPage" Width="640" Height="480"> <StackPanel x:Name="LayoutRoot" Width="624" HorizontalAlignment="Right" Margin="0,0,8,0" > <VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups> <VisualStateGroup x:Name="EditStates"> <VisualState x:Name="ReadOnly" /> <VisualState x:Name="Edit"> <Storyboard> <ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetName="ShownInEditMode" Storyboard.TargetProperty="(UIElement.Visibility)" BeginTime="00:00:00" Duration="00:00:00.0010000"> <DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00"> <DiscreteObjectKeyFrame.Value> <Visibility>Visible</Visibility> </DiscreteObjectKeyFrame.Value> </DiscreteObjectKeyFrame> </ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames> </Storyboard> </VisualState> </VisualStateGroup> </VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups> <data:DataGrid AutoGenerateColumns="False" ItemsSource="{Binding BBRNumbers}"> <data:DataGrid.Columns> <data:DataGridTextColumn Header="AlwaysShown" Width="80" Binding="{Binding Municipality}" /> <data:DataGridTextColumn Header="ShownInEditMode" Width="73" Binding="{Binding Estate}" Visibility="Collapsed" /> </data:DataGrid.Columns> </data:DataGrid> </StackPanel> Calling the following should then hide the column, but this doesnt work. VisualStateManager.GoToState(this, "Edit", false); Any ideas?

  • Alternative to FindAncestor RelativeSource in Silverlight 4 to bind to a property of the page

    - by TimothyP
Hi, FindAncestor RelativeSource only supports 'Self' and 'TemplatedParent', but I have to bind the width of a popup to the width of the page. Giving the page a name causes problems because sometimes it will throw exceptions saying a control with that name is already present in the visual tree. <Popup IsOpen="True" Width="{Binding ElementName=BordPage, Path=Width}" Height="{Binding ElementName=BordPage, Path=Height}"> Background information: I'm using a SL4 navigation based application here. BordPage is a navigation page, which I'm using multiple times within the application. So giving it a name in the page itself is not really a good idea, but I don't know how else I can bind to the width and height of the page. What I'm trying to do is have a black border (with opacity 0.8) cover the entire screen, (including the controls of the MainPage). Then on top of that I want to display some other controls. Since the application is touch controlled, providing the user with a ComboBox to select a value doesn't really work wel. Instead I want to show this black overlay window with a listbox taking up most of the screen so the user can simply touch the value he wants with a single click. Update: I just realized I can use the ChildWindow class to do this. But my original question remains.
