  • Iphone SDK - adding UITableView to UIView

    - by Shashi
Hi, I am trying to learn how to use different views, for this sample test app, i have a login page, upon successful logon, the user is redirected to a table view and then upon selection of an item in the table view, the user is directed to a third page showing details of the item. the first page works just fine, but the problem occurs when i go to the second page, the table shown doesn't have title and i cannot add title or toolbar or anything other than the content of the tables themselves. and when i click on the item, needless to say nothing happens. no errors as well. i am fairly new to programming and have always worked on Java but never on C(although i have some basic knowledge of C) and Objective C is new to me. Here is the code. import @interface NavigationTestAppDelegate : NSObject { UIWindow *window; UIViewController *viewController; IBOutlet UITextField *username; IBOutlet UITextField *password; IBOutlet UILabel *loginError; //UINavigationController *navigationController; } @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIViewController *viewController; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIWindow *window; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UITextField *username; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UITextField *password; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UILabel *loginError; -(IBAction) login; -(IBAction) hideKeyboard: (id) sender; @end import "NavigationTestAppDelegate.h" import "RootViewController.h" @implementation NavigationTestAppDelegate @synthesize window; @synthesize viewController; @synthesize username; @synthesize password; @synthesize loginError; pragma mark - pragma mark Application lifecycle -(IBAction) hideKeyboard: (id) sender{ [sender resignFirstResponder]; } (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { // Override point for customization after app launch //RootViewController *rootViewController = [[RootViewController alloc] init]; //[window addSubview:[navigationController view]]; [window addSubview:[viewController view]]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; return YES; } -(IBAction) login { RootViewController *rootViewController = [[RootViewController alloc] init]; //NSString *user = [[NSString alloc] username. if([username.text isEqualToString:@"test"]&&[password.text isEqualToString:@"test"]){ [window addSubview:[rootViewController view]]; //[window addSubview:[navigationController view]]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; //rootViewController.awakeFromNib; } else { loginError.text = @"LOGIN ERROR"; [window addSubview:[viewController view]]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; } } (void)applicationWillTerminate:(UIApplication *)application { // Save data if appropriate } pragma mark - pragma mark Memory management (void)dealloc { //[navigationController release]; [viewController release]; [window release]; [super dealloc]; } @end import @interface RootViewController : UITableViewController { IBOutlet NSMutableArray *views; } @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet NSMutableArray * views; @end // // RootViewController.m // NavigationTest // // Created by guest on 4/23/10. // Copyright MyCompanyName 2010. Thanks, Shashi

Hello, So I need your help please! I've created a UITableViewController: ContactDetailViewController. In IB in the nib file, I've added a view ahead of the table view and hooked it up to headerView - a UIView declared in the .h file. I've also created a view: CustomerHeaderView However when I run the code below, Its throwing an exception at the following line: headerView = [[UIView alloc] initWithNibName:@"ContactHeaderDetail" bundle:nil]; The error being thrown is: 2010-05-20 10:59:50.405 OnePageCRM[19620:20b] * -[UIView initWithNibName:bundle:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x3ca4fa0 2010-05-20 10:59:50.406 OnePageCRM[19620:20b] Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '** -[UIView initWithNibName:bundle:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x3ca4fa0' So any ideas anyone? • WPF Custom Buttons below ListBox Items

    - by Ryan
WPF Experts - I am trying to add buttons below my custom listbox and also have the scroll bar go to the bottom of the control. Only the items should move and not the buttons. I was hoping for some guidance on the best way to achieve this. I was thinking the ItemsPanelTemplate needed to be modified but was not certain. • How to set child unordered list position?

    - by Joel
    Hi folks. I have a nav bar with children unordered lists nested under the main navbar items. My problem is on the inner list, when I position absolute, the inner list is centered to the page, and when I position relative, it is positioning inline with the parent list. I'm trying to get the first child item to line up directly under it's parent. /* OUTER LIST STYLING */ div#navbar2 { position:relative; width: 100%; border-top: solid #000 1px; border-bottom: solid #546F8B 1px; background-color: #546F8B; } div#navbar2 ul#navbar { padding: 0; margin: 10px 0; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing:1px; color: #FFF; white-space: nowrap; } div#navbar2 ul#navbar li { margin: 0 2px; list-style-type: none; display: inline; } div#navbar2 li a { text-decoration: none; color: #fff; padding: 10px 10px; } div#navbar2 li a:link { color: #FFF: } div#navbar2 li a:visited { color: #ffffff; } div#navbar2 li a:hover { color: #000; background-color: #FDFFC9; } /* INNER LIST STYLING */ div#navbar2 ul#navbar li ul.innerlist{ display: none; color:#000; } div#navbar2 ul#navbar li ul.innerlist li{ color:#000; } div#navbar2 ul#navbar li:hover ul.innerlist { position: absolute; display: inline; left: 0; width: 100%; margin: 40px 0 0px 0px; padding: 0px; color:#000; } div#navbar2 li.innerlist a { text-decoration: none; color: #000; padding: 10px 10px; } div#navbar2 li.innerlist a:link { color: #000: } div#navbar2 li.innerlist a:visited { color: #000; } div#navbar2 li.innerlist a:hover { color: #000; background-color: #FDFFC9; } And my html: <div id="navbar2"> <ul id="navbar"> <li id="index"><a href="index.php">About Rattletree</a></li> <li id="upcomingshows"><a href="upcomingshows.php">Calendar</a></li> <li id="booking"><a href="booking.php">Contact</a> <ul class="innerlist"> <li class="innerlist"><a href="#">Booking</a></li> <li class="innerlist"><a href="#">press</a></li> </ul> </li> <li id="instruments"><a href="instruments.php">The Band</a> <ul class="innerlist"> <li class="innerlist"><a href="#">The Instruments</a></li> <li class="innerlist"><a href="#">The Players</a></li> </ul> </li> <li id="classes"><a href="classes.php">Sights &amp; Sounds</a> <ul class="innerlist"> <li class="innerlist"><a href="#">Listen</a></li> <li class="innerlist"><a href="#">photos</a></li> <li class="innerlist"><a href="#">video</a></li> </ul> </li> <li id"classes"><a href="classes.php">Workshops &amp; Classes</a></li> </ul> </div> Thanks for any help!

  • Why won't my UISearchDisplayController fire the didSelectRowAtIndexPath moethod?

    - by John Wells
I am having an odd problem when searching a UITableView using a UISearchDisplayController. The UITableViewController is a subclass of another UITableViewController with a working didSelectRowAtIndexPath method. Without searching the controller handles selections fine, sending the superclass a didSelectRowAtIndexPath call, but if I select a cell when searching the superclass receives nothing but the cell is highlighted. Below is the code from my subclass. @implementation AdvancedViewController @synthesize searchDisplayController, dict, filteredList; - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; // Programmatically set up search bar UISearchBar *mySearchBar = [[UISearchBar alloc] init]; mySearchBar.delegate = self; [mySearchBar setAutocapitalizationType:UITextAutocapitalizationTypeNone]; [mySearchBar sizeToFit]; self.tableView.tableHeaderView = mySearchBar; // Programmatically set up search display controller searchDisplayController = [[UISearchDisplayController alloc] initWithSearchBar:mySearchBar contentsController:self]; [self setSearchDisplayController:searchDisplayController]; [searchDisplayController setDelegate:self]; [searchDisplayController setSearchResultsDataSource:self]; // Parse data from server NSData * jsonData = [NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL URLWithString:url]]; NSArray * items = [[NSArray alloc] initWithArray:[[CJSONDeserializer deserializer] deserializeAsArray:jsonData error:nil]]; // Init variables dict = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] init]; listIndex = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; fullList = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; filteredList = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; // Get each item and format it for the UI for(NSMutableArray * item in items) { // Get the first letter NSString * firstKey = [[[item objectAtIndex:0] substringWithRange:NSMakeRange(0,1)] uppercaseString]; // Put symbols and numbers in the same section if ([[firstKey stringByTrimmingCharactersInSet:[[NSCharacterSet letterCharacterSet] invertedSet]] isEqualToString:@""]) firstKey = @"#"; // If there isn't a section with this key if (![listIndex containsObject:firstKey]) { // Add the key to the index for faster access (because it's already sorted) [listIndex addObject:firstKey]; // Add the key to the unordered dictionary [dict setObject:[NSMutableArray array] forKey:firstKey]; } // Add the object to the dictionary [[dict objectForKey:firstKey] addObject:[[NSMutableDictionary alloc] initWithObjects:item forKeys:[NSArray arrayWithObjects:@"name", @"url", nil]]]; // Add the object to the list for simple searching [fullList addObject:[[NSMutableDictionary alloc] initWithObjects:item forKeys:[NSArray arrayWithObjects:@"name", @"url", nil]]]; } filteredList = [NSMutableArray arrayWithCapacity:[fullList count]]; } #pragma mark - #pragma mark Table view data source // Custom method for object oriented data access - (NSString *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView dataForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath withKey:(NSString *)key { return (NSString *)((tableView == self.searchDisplayController.searchResultsTableView) ? • jquery hover not working properly other than IE6

    - by Kranthi
    Hi All, We developed navigation bar using jQuery 1.4.2. Functionality is to show submneus for different menu items when user hovers on it. It is working perfectly in IE6 but we see some weird problems in other browsers. In Firefox, when the page gets loaded, it works fine but when we hit f5, the submenu wont appear on hover. To get submenu we need to click on any other menu item. In Chrome, its the same to add on, some time even we click on any menu item, and hover submenu wont show up. In Safari, nothing shows up most of the times, but on clicking 5-6 menu items, submenu is shown.When we see loading text in safari it shows the submenu. but on every click the loading text wont appear.. We are very much confused..is it the browser behavior/code/jquery?? Below is the snippet: Html: <ul> <li><a class="mainLinks" href="google.com">Support</a> <ul><li>Sublink1</li></ul> </ul> Html code is absolutely fine. Jquery: var timeout = null; var ie = (document.all) ? true : false; $(document).ready(function(){ var $mainLink = null; var $subLink = null; $(".mainLinks").each(function(){ if ($(this).hasClass("current")) { $(this).mouseout(function() { var $this = $(this); timeout = setTimeout(function() { $(".popUpNav", $this.parent()).css({ visibility : 'hidden' }); $('.popUpArrow').hide(); ieCompat('show'); }, 200); }); } else { $(this).hover(function() { reset(); ieCompat('hide'); // Saving this for later use in the popUpNav hover event $mainLink = $(this); $popUpNav = $(".popUpNav", $mainLink.parent()); // Default width is width of one column var popupWidth = $('.popUpNavSection').width() + 20; // Calculate popup width depending on the number of columns var numColumns = $popUpNav.find('.popUpNavSection').length; if (numColumns != 0) { popupWidth *= numColumns; } var elPos = $mainLink.position(); var leftOffset = 0; if (elPos.left + popupWidth > 950) { leftOffset = elPos.left + popupWidth - 948; } $popUpNav.css({ top : elPos.top + 31 + 'px', left : elPos.left - leftOffset + 'px', visibility : 'visible', width : popupWidth + 'px' }); $('.popUpArrow').css({ left : elPos.left + Math.round(($mainLink.width() / 2)) + 20 + 'px', top : '27px' }).show(); }, function() { var $this = $(this); timeout = setTimeout(function() { $(".popUpNav", $this.parent()).css({ visibility : 'hidden' }); $('.popUpArrow').hide() ieCompat('show'); }, 200); } ); } }); $(".subLinks").hover( function(e) { $subLink = $(this); var elPos = $subLink.position(); var popupWidth = $(".popUpNavLv2",$subLink.parent()).width(); var leftOffset = 0; ieCompat('hide'); $(".popUpNavLv2",$subLink.parent()).css({ top : elPos.top + 32 + 'px', left : elPos.left - leftOffset + 'px', visibility : 'visible' }); }, function() { var $this = $(this); timeout = setTimeout(function() { $(".popUpNavLv2", $this.parent()).css({ visibility : 'hidden' }); }, 200); ieCompat('show'); } ); $('.popUpNav').hover( function() { clearTimeout(timeout); $mainLink.addClass('current'); $(this).css('visibility', 'visible'); $('.popUpArrow').show(); }, function() { $mainLink.removeClass('current'); $(this).css('visibility', 'hidden'); $('.popUpArrow').hide(); ieCompat('show'); } ); $('.popUpNavLv2').hover( function() { clearTimeout(timeout); $(this).css('visibility', 'visible'); ieCompat('hide'); }, function() { ieCompat('show'); $(this).css('visibility', 'hidden'); } ); // If on mac, reduce left padding on the tabs if (/mac os x/.test(navigator.userAgent.toLowerCase())) { $('.mainLinks, .mainLinksHome').css('padding-left', '23px'); } }); Thanks a lot in advance for looking into it.   • Core Data error when assigning variable with one-to-one relationship

    - by Hoang Pham
    I tried to assign a managed object (C) with its property another managed object (B) (a one-to-one relationship) in which this other managed object (B) has a to-many relationship with one other managed object (A). There is an error from this assignment in which I copied as follows: #0 0x020e53a7 in ___forwarding___ #1 0x020c16c2 in __forwarding_prep_0___ #2 0x02078988 in CFRetain #3 0x0207a728 in CFSetAddValue #4 0x020c2fb2 in CFSetCreate #5 0x01e51ce8 in -[_NSFaultingMutableSet copyWithZone:] #6 0x020afcca in -[NSObject copy] #7 0x01e50d22 in -[NSManagedObject(_NSInternalMethods) _newPropertiesForRetainedTypes:andCopiedTypes:preserveFaults:] #8 0x01e51aa0 in -[NSManagedObject(_NSInternalMethods) _newAllPropertiesWithRelationshipFaultsIntact__] #9 0x01e519b4 in -[NSManagedObjectContext(_NSInternalChangeProcessing) _establishEventSnapshotsForObject:] #10 0x01e51866 in _PFFastMOCObjectWillChange #11 0x01e516c5 in _PF_ManagedObject_WillChangeValueForKeyIndex #12 0x01e51525 in _sharedIMPL_setvfk_core #13 0x01e51483 in _PF_Handler_Public_SetProperty #14 0x01e546d1 in -[NSManagedObject(_NSInternalMethods) _didChangeValue:forRelationship:named:withInverse:] #15 0x0030ec1e in NSKVONotify #16 0x002aae2a in -[NSObject(NSKeyValueObserverNotification) didChangeValueForKey:] #17 0x01e5212f in _PF_ManagedObject_DidChangeValueForKeyIndex #18 0x01e515b1 in _sharedIMPL_setvfk_core #19 0x01e55827 in _svfk_5 I don't understand very well what the exact description of this error is. • Django app that can provide user friendly, multiple / mass file upload functionality to other apps

    - by hopla
Hi, I'm going to be honest: this is a question I asked on the Django-Users mailinglist last week. Since I didn't get any replies there yet, I'm reposting it on Stack Overflow in the hope that it gets more attention here. I want to create an app that makes it easy to do user friendly, multiple / mass file upload in your own apps. With user friendly I mean upload like Gmail, Flickr, ... where the user can select multiple files at once in the browse file dialog. The files are then uploaded sequentially or in parallel and a nice overview of the selected files is shown on the page with a progress bar next to them. A 'Cancel' upload button is also a possible option. All that niceness is usually solved by using a Flash object. Complete solutions are out there for the client side, like: SWFUpload http://swfupload.org/ , FancyUpload http://digitarald.de/project/fancyupload/ , YUI 2 Uploader http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/uploader/ and probably many more. Ofcourse the trick is getting those solutions integrated in your project. Especially in a framework like Django, double so if you want it to be reusable. So, I have a few ideas, but I'm neither an expert on Django nor on Flash based upload solutions. I'll share my ideas here in the hope of getting some feedback from more knowledgeable and experienced people. (Or even just some 'I want this too!' replies :) ) You will notice that I make a few assumptions: this is to keep the (initial) scope of the application under control. These assumptions are of course debatable: All right, my idea's so far: If you want to mass upload multiple files, you are going to have a model to contain each file in. I.e. the model will contain one FileField or one ImageField. Models with multiple (but ofcourse finite) amount of FileFields/ ImageFields are not in need of easy mass uploading imho: if you have a model with 100 FileFields you are doing something wrong :) Examples where you would want my envisioned kind of mass upload: An app that has just one model 'Brochure' with a file field, a title field (dynamically created from the filename) and a date_added field. A photo gallery app with models 'Gallery' and 'Photo'. You pick a Gallery to add pictures to, upload the pictures and new Photo objects are created and foreign keys set to the chosen Gallery. It would be nice to be able to configure or extend the app for your favorite Flash upload solution. We can pick one of the three above as a default, but implement the app so that people can easily add additional implementations (kinda like Django can use multiple databases). Let it be agnostic to any particular client side solution. If we need to pick one to start with, maybe pick the one with the smallest footprint? (smallest download of client side stuff) The Flash based solutions asynchronously (and either sequentially or in parallel) POST the files to a url. I suggest that url to be local to our generic app (so it's the same for every app where you use our app in). That url will go to a view provided by our generic app. The view will do the following: create a new model instance, add the file, OPTIONALLY DO EXTRA STUFF and save the instance. DO EXTRA STUFF is code that the app that uses our app wants to run. It doesn't have to provide any extra code, if the model has just a FileField/ImageField the standard view code will do the job. But most app will want to do extra stuff I think, like filling in the other fields: title, date_added, foreignkeys, manytomany, ... I have not yet thought about a mechanism for DO EXTRA STUFF. Just wrapping the generic app view came to mind, but that is not developer friendly, since you would have to write your own url pattern and your own view. Then you have to tell the Flash solutions to use a new url etc... I think something like signals could be used here? Forms/Admin: I'm still very sketchy on how all this could best be integrated in the Admin or generic Django forms/widgets/... (and this is were my lack of Django experience shows): In the case of the Gallery/Photo app: You could provide a mass Photo upload widget on the Gallery detail form. But what if the Gallery instance is not saved yet? The file upload view won't be able to set the foreignkeys on the Photo instances. I see that the auth app, when you create a user, first asks for username and password and only then provides you with a bigger form to fill in emailadres, pick roles etc. We could do something like that. In the case of an app with just one model: How do you provide a form in the Django admin to do your mass upload? You can't do it with the detail form of your model, that's just for one model instance. There's probably dozens more questions that need to be answered before I can even start on this app. So please tell me what you think! Give me input! What do you like? What not? What would you do different? Is this idea solid? Where is it not? Thank you!

  • Android camera AVD error 100

    - by Cristian Voina
I am trying to learn how to make a simple app in android. As background information I have only programmed in C language, no OOP. Currently I am trying turn on the camera using the indications from Android Developer site but some minor changes: - no button for capturing image. - no new activity. What I am trying to do is jut preview the camera. I will post the Code that I am using, the manifest and the LogCat. Main Activity: package com.example.camera_display; import android.app.Activity; import android.hardware.Camera; import android.os.Bundle; import android.view.Menu; import android.widget.FrameLayout; import android.widget.TextView; public class MainActivity extends Activity { private Camera mcamera; private CameraPreview mCameraPreview; @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.activity_main); mcamera = getCameraInstance(); mCameraPreview = new CameraPreview(this, mcamera); FrameLayout preview = (FrameLayout) findViewById(R.id.camera_preview); preview.addView(mCameraPreview); } public static Camera getCameraInstance(){ Camera c = null; try { c = Camera.open(); // attempt to get a Camera instance } catch (Exception e){ // Camera is not available (in use or does not exist) } return c; // returns null if camera is unavailable } @Override public boolean onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu) { // Inflate the menu; this adds items to the action bar if it is present. getMenuInflater().inflate(R.menu.main, menu); return true; } } CameraPreview Class: package com.example.camera_display; import java.io.IOException; import android.content.Context; import android.hardware.Camera; import android.util.Log; import android.view.SurfaceHolder; import android.view.SurfaceView; /** A basic Camera preview class */ public class CameraPreview extends SurfaceView implements SurfaceHolder.Callback { private static final String TAG = "MyActivity"; private SurfaceHolder mHolder; private Camera mCamera; public CameraPreview(Context context, Camera camera) { super(context); mCamera = camera; // Install a SurfaceHolder.Callback so we get notified when the // underlying surface is created and destroyed. mHolder = getHolder(); mHolder.addCallback(this); // deprecated setting, but required on Android versions prior to 3.0 mHolder.setType(SurfaceHolder.SURFACE_TYPE_PUSH_BUFFERS); } public void surfaceCreated(SurfaceHolder holder) { // The Surface has been created, now tell the camera where to draw the preview. try { mCamera.setPreviewDisplay(holder); mCamera.startPreview(); } catch (IOException e) { Log.d(TAG, "Error setting camera preview: " + e.getMessage()); } } public void surfaceDestroyed(SurfaceHolder holder) { // empty. • Blackberry custom OVERLAY horizontal menu

    - by Dachmt
Thanks to Max in this post, I made an horizontal menu. But now I'm trying to make an overlay menu, i I don't find how to do that... Let's see what i got first. So, I have a class MapScreen which display my map: public class MapScreen extends MenuScreen Then, I have in the same file the MenuScreen class like this that allows to display the horizontal menu when I press the MENU key: abstract class MenuScreen extends MainScreen { boolean mMenuEnabled = false; CyclicHFManager mMenuManager = null; public MenuScreen() { mMenuManager = new CyclicHFManager(); mMenuManager.setBorder(BorderFactory.createBevelBorder(new XYEdges(4, 0, 0, 0), new XYEdges(Color.DARKBLUE, 0, 0, 0), new XYEdges( Color.WHITE, 0, 0, 0))); mMenuManager.setBackground(BackgroundFactory .createLinearGradientBackground(Color.DARKBLUE, Color.DARKBLUE, Color.LIGHTBLUE, Color.LIGHTBLUE)); for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++) { Bitmap nBitmap = new Bitmap(60, 60); Graphics g = new Graphics(nBitmap); g.setColor(Color.DARKBLUE); g.fillRect(0, 0, 60, 60); g.setColor(Color.WHITE); g.drawRect(0, 0, 60, 60); Font f = g.getFont().derive(Font.BOLD, 40); g.setFont(f); String text = String.valueOf(i); g.drawText(text, (60 - f.getAdvance(text)) >> 1, (60 - f .getHeight()) >> 1); Bitmap fBitmap = new Bitmap(60, 60); g = new Graphics(fBitmap); g.setColor(Color.DARKBLUE); g.fillRect(0, 0, 60, 60); g.setColor(Color.GOLD); g.drawRect(0, 0, 60, 60); g.setFont(f); g.drawText(text, (60 - f.getAdvance(text)) >> 1, (60 - f .getHeight()) >> 1); BitmapButtonField button = new BitmapButtonField(nBitmap, fBitmap); button.setCookie(String.valueOf(i)); button.setPadding(new XYEdges(0, 18, 0, 18)); button.setChangeListener(new FieldChangeListener() { public void fieldChanged(Field field, int context) { Dialog.inform("Button # " + (String) field.getCookie()); } }); mMenuManager.add(button); } } protected boolean keyDown(int keycode, int time) { if (Keypad.KEY_MENU == Keypad.key(keycode)) { if (mMenuManager.getManager() != null) { delete(mMenuManager); mMenuManager.mCyclicTurnedOn = false; } else { add(mMenuManager); mMenuManager.getField(2).setFocus(); mMenuManager.mCyclicTurnedOn = true; } return true; } else { return super.keyDown(keycode, time); } }} And finally my menu manager: public class CyclicHFManager extends HorizontalFieldManager { int mFocusedFieldIndex = 0; public boolean mCyclicTurnedOn = false; public void focusChangeNotify(int arg0) { super.focusChangeNotify(arg0); if (mCyclicTurnedOn) { int focusedFieldIndexNew = getFieldWithFocusIndex(); if (focusedFieldIndexNew != mFocusedFieldIndex) { if (focusedFieldIndexNew - mFocusedFieldIndex > 0) switchField(0, getFieldCount() - 1); else switchField(getFieldCount() - 1, 0); } } else { mFocusedFieldIndex = getFieldWithFocusIndex(); } } private void switchField(int prevIndex, int newIndex) { Field field = getField(prevIndex); delete(field); insert(field, newIndex); }} So as it is like this, it is working: when I press the MENU key, the menu appears, i can navigate between buttons, and it disappear when I press again the same key. The only problem is my menu isn't overlaying my map, it pushes the content up. I tried with the menu manager like in your first response, resizing the content manager but it is the same result. Max gave me the link http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1497073/blackberry-fields-layout-animation to do so, but I really don't know how to use it to make it work in my project... Thank you for your help! UPDATE This works great, it's what I wanted. However, I still have a problem because I'm under 4.5. So first in the MenuHostManager constructor, I deleted the USE_ALL_HEIGHT and change setPositionChild(mMenuManager, 0, Display.getHeight() - mMenuManager.getPreferredHeight()); like this to have the menu at the bottom of the screen. It worked. Then, instead of drawing my bitmaps, I did this: Bitmap nBitmap = EncodedImage.getEncodedImageResource("menu" + i + ".png").getBitmap(); BitmapButtonField button = new BitmapButtonField(nBitmap, nBitmap); And it worked too (no rollover for now, later). So it is great! I also overwrite the Paint method of my CyclicHFManager to have a background color, because I can't use the BorderFactory and BackgroundFactory... My menu bar has a color for now so it's ok. Then, because of these 2 classes missing, in my BitmapButtonField I had to delete the 2 setBorder functions that change the borders. And now i have my buttons pretty big like normal buttons with borders... How can I make the same effect as the setBorder functions under 4.5? (BTW, setBorder is not working under 4.5 too...). Thank you!

  • GWT Query fails second time -only.

    - by Koran
HI, I have a visualization function in GWT which calls for two instances of the same panels - two queries. Now, suppose one url is A and the other url is B. Here, I am facing an issue in that if A is called first, then both A and B works. If B is called first, then only B works, A - times out. If I call both times A, only the first time A works, second time it times out. If I call B twice, it works both times without a hitch. Even though the error comes at timed out, it actually is not timing out - in FF status bar, it shows till - transferring data from A, and then it gets stuck. This doesnt even show up in the first time query. The only difference between A and B is that B returns very fast, while A returns comparitively slow. The sample code is given below: public Panel(){ Runnable onLoadCallback = new Runnable() { public void run() { Query query = Query.create(dataUrl); query.setTimeout(60); query.send(new Callback() { public void onResponse(QueryResponse response) { if (response.isError()){ Window.alert(response.getMessage()); } } } } VisualizationUtils.loadVisualizationApi(onLoadCallback, PieChart.PACKAGE); } What could be the reason for this? I cannot think of any reason why this should happen? Why is this happening only for A and not for B? EDIT: More research. The query which works all the time (i.e. B is the example URL given in GWT visualization site: see comment [1]). So, I tried in my app engine to reproduce it - the following way s = "google.visualization.Query.setResponse({version:'0.6',status:'ok',sig:'106459472',table:{cols:[{id:'A',label:'Source',type:'string',pattern:''},{id:'B',label:'Percent',type:'number',pattern:'#0.01%'}],rows:[{c:[{v:'Oil'},{v:0.37,f:'37.00%'}]},{c:[{v:'Coal'},{v:0.25,f:'25.00%'}]},{c:[{v:'Natural Gas'},{v:0.23,f:'23.00%'}]},{c:[{v:'Nuclear'},{v:0.06,f:'6.00%'}]},{c:[{v:'Biomass'},{v:0.04,f:'4.00%'}]},{c:[{v:'Hydro'},{v:0.03,f:'3.00%'}]},{c:[{v:'Solar Heat'},{v:0.005,f:'0.50%'}]},{c:[{v:'Wind'},{v:0.003,f:'0.30%'}]},{c:[{v:'Geothermal'},{v:0.002,f:'0.20%'}]},{c:[{v:'Biofuels'},{v:0.002,f:'0.20%'}]},{c:[{v:'Solar photovoltaic'},{v:4.0E-4,f:'0.04%'}]}]}});"; response = HttpResponse(s, content_type="text/plain; charset=utf-8") response['Expires'] = time.strftime('%a, %d %b %Y %H:%M:%S GMT', time.gmtime()) return response Where s is the data when we run the query for B. I tried to add Expires etc too, since that seems to be the only header which has the difference, but now, the query fails all the time. For more info - I am now sending the difference between my server response vs the working server response. They seems to be pretty similar. • How do I manage library symbols with linked classes in Flash CS4 to compile/debug in Flash Builder 4

    - by wpjmurray
I'm building a video player using Flash CS4 (hereby referred to as "Flash") to create the graphic symbols and compiling and debugging with Flash Builder 4 ("FB4"). Here are the steps I take in my current workflow: --Create the graphic symbols in Flash. I've created a few different symbols for the player, but I'll focus on just the play/pause button ("ppbutton") here. --In the Library panel, I go to the ppbutton symbol's Linkage properties and link to a class named assets.PlayPauseButtonAsset that extends MovieClip. I do not actually have an assets package nor do I have a class file for PlayPauseButtonAsset as Flash will create them for me when I publish. --In Flash's Publish settings, I set the project to export a SWC that will be used in FB4, called VideoPlayerAssets.swc. --After the SWC is created, I create my FB4 project called "VideoPlayer" and add the SWC to my path. FB4 creates the class VideoPlayer in the default package automatically. --In VideoPlayer.as, I import assets.*, which imports all of the symbol classes I created in Flash and are available via VideoPlayerAssets.swc. I can now instantiate the ppbutton and add to the stage, like this: var ppbutton:PlayPauseButtonAsset = new PlayPauseButtonAsset(); addChild(ppbutton); At this point ppbutton doesn't have any functionality because I didn't create any code for it. So I create a new class called video.controls.PlayPauseButtonLogic which extends assets.PlayPauseButtonAsset. I add some logic, and now I can use that new class to put a working ppbutton on the stage: var ppbutton:PlayPauseButtonLogic = new PlayPauseButtonLogic(); addChild(ppbutton); This works fine, but you may be asking why I didn't just link the ppbutton symbol in Flash to the video.controls.PlayPauseButtonLogic class in the first place. The reason is that I have a designer creating the UI in Flash and I don't want to have to re-publish the SWC from Flash every time I make a change in the logic. Basically, I want my designer to be able to make a symbol in Flash, link that symbol to a logically named class in Linkage properties, and export the SWC. I do not want to have to touch that .fla file again unless the designer makes changes to the symbols or layout. I'm using a versioning system for the project as well and it's cleaner to make sure only the designer is touching the .fla file. So, finally, here's the issue I'm running into: --As the design gets more complex, the designer is nesting symbols to position the video controls on the control bar. He creates a controlbar symbol and links it to assets.ControlBarAsset. The controlbar symbol contains the ppbutton symbol. --The designer publishes the SWC and ControlBarAsset is now available in FB4. I create new class called video.controls.ControlBarLogic that extends assets.ControlBarAsset so I can add some logic to the controlbar, and I add the controlbar to the stage: var controlbar:ControlBarLogic = new ControlBarLogic(); addChild(controlbar); --This works, but the ppbutton doesn't do anything. That's because ppbutton, while inside controlbar, is still only linked to PlayPauseButtonAsset, which doesn't have any logic. I'm no longer instantiating a ppbutton object because it's part of controlbar. That's where I'm stuck today. I can't seem to simply re-cast controlbar's ppbutton as PlayPauseButtonLogic as I get a Type error. And I don't want to have to make a class that has to instantiate each of the video player controls, the place them at their x and y values on the stage according to how the designer placed them, as that would require me to open the .fla and check the various properties of a symbol, then add those values to the code. If the designer made a change, I'd have to go into the code each time just to update those properties each time. Not good. How do I re-cast nested symbols to use the logic classes that I create that extend the asset classes? Remember, the solution is not to link Flash symbols to actual classes so I don't have to keep recompiling the SWC, unless there's a way to do that without having to re-compile the SWC. I want the designer to do his thing, publish the SWC, and be done with it. Then I can take his SWC, apply my logic to his assets, and be able to debug and compile the final SWF.

  • Tabular (X)HTML forms

    - by detly
    I have a set of items that can be in various states. I want to allow a user to use an (X)HTML form to change the state, and easily view the state of a group of objects ...so to this end, I'd like a layout like: | item1 | radio button for state 1 | radio for state 2 | ... | [update button] | | item2 | radio button for state 1 | radio for state 2 | ... | [update button] | etc. I prefer the radio buttons to list boxes so that it's easy for a user to visually scan for things in a certain state. It seemed like perfectly tabular data to me. The only problem is, you can't have forms inside a table that cross table cells (ie. <tr> <form> <td> ... is invalid). I thought, "hey, I could have one giant form wrapping a table, and make the [update button] value contain the IDs for each row!" Turns out certain versions of IE send ALL THE SUBMIT BUTTON VALUES on any single form. So I thought perhaps to to lay it out with <div>s and place the forms inside a single <td>. But then they break a line on each <div>. So I fixed their width and made them float: left. But then they wrap inside the table cells if the table row is wider than the page, and the radio controls don't line up with the headings. Is it possible to lay this out as I intend? The XHTML below shows the intended structure. Observe what happens if you resize the browser window below the width of the table (ideally, the name would break or the table would show a scroll bar). <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en"> <head><title>Test</title> <style type="text/css"> .state-select, .thing-state-name, .update { float: left; width: 8em; } .state-select { text-align: center; } </style> </head> <body> <table> <thead> <tr> <th class="thing-name-header">Thing</th> <th> <div class="thing-state-name">Present</div> <div class="thing-state-name">Absent</div> <div class="thing-state-name">Haven't looked</div> </th> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <tr> <td>Apple</td> <td> <form action="something" method="post"> <input type="hidden" name="id" value="1" /> <div class="state-select"><input type="radio" name="presence" value="present" checked="checked" /></div> <div class="state-select"><input type="radio" name="presence" value="absent" /></div> <div class="state-select"><input type="radio" name="presence" value="unknown" /></div> <div class="update"><input type="submit" value="Update" /></div> </form> </td></tr> <tr> <td>Orange</td> <td> <form action="something" method="post"> <input type="hidden" name="id" value="2" /> <div class="state-select"><input type="radio" name="presence" value="present" /></div> <div class="state-select"><input type="radio" name="presence" value="absent" checked="checked" /></div> <div class="state-select"><input type="radio" name="presence" value="unknown" /></div> <div class="update"><input type="submit" value="Update" /></div> </form> </td></tr> <tr> <td>David Bowie</td> <td> <form action="something" method="post"> <input type="hidden" name="id" value="3" /> <div class="state-select"><input type="radio" name="presence" value="present" /></div> <div class="state-select"><input type="radio" name="presence" value="absent" /></div> <div class="state-select"><input type="radio" name="presence" value="unknown" checked="checked" /></div> <div class="update"><input type="submit" value="Update" /></div> </form> </td></tr> </tbody> </table> </body> </html>

  • Bound Command not firing on another viewModel? What Am I doing wrong?

    - by devnet247
    Hi I cannot seem to bind a command to a button.I have a treeview on the left showing Country City etc.. And I tabcontrol on the right. do I This uses 4 viewModels rootviewModel-ContinentViewModel-CountryViewModel-CityViewModel What I am building is based on http://www.codeproject.com/KB/WPF/TreeViewWithViewModel.aspx Now on one of the tabs I have a Toolbar with a button "TestButton" that I have mapped in zaml. This does not fire! The reason is not firing is because I m binding the RootViewModel but the command that is bound in zaml is in the cityViewModel. How Do I pass the datacontext from one view to the other? or how do I make the button fire. I need the command to be in the cityViewModel. Any Suggestions on how I bind it? View "WorldExplorerView" where I bind the main DataContext public partial class WorldExplorerView { public WorldExplorerView() { InitializeComponent(); var continents = Database.GetContinents(); var rootViewModel = new RootViewModel(continents); DataContext = rootViewModel; } } CityViewModel public class CityViewModel : TreeViewItemViewModel { private City _city; private RelayCommand _testCommand; public CityViewModel(City city, CountryViewModel countryViewModel):base(countryViewModel,false) { _city = city; } Properties etc...... public ICommand TestCommand { get { if(_testCommand==null) { _testCommand = new RelayCommand(param => GetTestCommand(), param => CanCallTestCommand); ; } return _testCommand; } } protected bool CanCallTestCommand { get { return true; } } private static void GetTestCommand() { MessageBox.Show("It works"); } } ZAML <DockPanel> <DockPanel LastChildFill="True"> <Label DockPanel.Dock="top" Content="Title " HorizontalAlignment="Center"></Label> <StatusBar DockPanel.Dock="Bottom"> <StatusBarItem Content="Status Bar" ></StatusBarItem> </StatusBar> <Grid DockPanel.Dock="Top"> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition/> <ColumnDefinition Width="Auto"/> <ColumnDefinition Width="2*"/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <TreeView Name="tree" ItemsSource="{Binding Continents}"> <TreeView.ItemContainerStyle> <Style TargetType="{x:Type TreeViewItem}"> <Setter Property="IsExpanded" Value="{Binding IsExpanded,Mode=TwoWay}"/> <Setter Property="IsSelected" Value="{Binding IsSelected,Mode=TwoWay}"/> <Setter Property="FontWeight" Value="Normal"/> <Style.Triggers> <Trigger Property="IsSelected" Value="True"> <Setter Property="FontWeight" Value="Bold"></Setter> </Trigger> </Style.Triggers> </Style> </TreeView.ItemContainerStyle> <TreeView.Resources> <HierarchicalDataTemplate DataType="{x:Type ViewModels:ContinentViewModel}" ItemsSource="{Binding Children}"> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <Image Width="16" Height="16" Margin="3,0" Source="Images\Continent.png"/> <TextBlock Text="{Binding ContinentName}"/> </StackPanel> </HierarchicalDataTemplate> <HierarchicalDataTemplate DataType="{x:Type ViewModels:CountryViewModel}" ItemsSource="{Binding Children}"> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <Image Width="16" Height="16" Margin="3,0" Source="Images\Country.png"/> <TextBlock Text="{Binding CountryName}"/> </StackPanel> </HierarchicalDataTemplate> <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type ViewModels:CityViewModel}" > <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <Image Width="16" Height="16" Margin="3,0" Source="Images\City.png"/> <TextBlock Text="{Binding CityName}"/> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> </TreeView.Resources> </TreeView> <GridSplitter Grid.Row="0" Grid.Column="1" Background="LightGray" Width="5" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch" VerticalAlignment="Stretch"/> <Grid Grid.Column="2" Margin="5" > <TabControl> <TabItem Header="Demo"> <DockPanel LastChildFill="True"> <ToolBar DockPanel.Dock="Top"> <!-- DOES NOT WORK--> <Button Name="btnTest" Command="{Binding TestCommand}" Content="Press me see if works"></Button> </ToolBar> <TextBox></TextBox> </DockPanel> </TabItem> <TabItem Header="Details" DataContext="{Binding Path=SelectedItem.City, ElementName=tree, Mode=OneWay}"> <StackPanel > <TextBlock VerticalAlignment="Center" FontSize="12" Text="{Binding CityName}"/> <TextBlock VerticalAlignment="Center" FontSize="12" Text="{Binding Area}"/> <TextBlock VerticalAlignment="Center" FontSize="12" Text="{Binding Population}"/> <TextBlock VerticalAlignment="Center" FontSize="12" Text="{Binding CityDetailsInfo.ClubsCount}"/> <TextBlock VerticalAlignment="Center" FontSize="12" Text="{Binding CityDetailsInfo.PubsCount}"/> </StackPanel> </TabItem> </TabControl> </Grid> </Grid> </DockPanel> </DockPanel>

  • ASP.NET Web Page Not Available

    - by hahuang65
It's pretty difficult to show code for ASP.NET here, so I will try my best to describe my problem. I have a FileUploadControl and a Button that calls a function when it's clicked. It seems that the Button function works when there is nothing chosen for my FileUploadControl. However, when there is something chosen in the FileUploadControl (I have selected a file to upload), there is a problem when I click the button. It completely does not matter what the function does (it could just be writing to a label, even when it has nothing to do with the FileUploadControl). The error I get is: This webpage is not available. The webpage at http://localhost:2134/UploadMedia/Default.aspx might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. I have searched on Google, and people seem to have had problems with this, but different causes from me. They have said that their ASP.NET Development Server port is actually different from their port in the address bar. This is not the case for me. Also, another problem people have had is with Use Dynamic Ports. I have tried both true and false. I have also tried different ports, and I have always gotten the same error. This is really driving me crazy because it doesn't matter what the code in the buttonFunction is, it doesn't work as long as there is something in the FileUploadControl. If there is nothing, it seems to work fine. Here is the code for the ASP.NET Controls: <asp:FileUpload id="FileUploadControl" runat="server" /> <asp:Button runat="server" id="UploadButton" text="Upload" OnClick="uploadClicked" /> <br /><br /> <asp:Label runat="server" id="StatusLabel" text="Upload status: " /> And this is the code for the button function: protected void uploadClicked(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (FileUploadControl.HasFile) { string filename = Path.GetFileName(FileUploadControl.FileName); //Check if the entered username already exists in the database. String sqlDupStmt = "Select songPath from Songs where songPath ='" + Server.MapPath("~/Uploads/") + filename + "'"; SqlConnection sqlDupConn = new SqlConnection(@"Data Source = .\SQLEXPRESS; AttachDbFilename = |DataDirectory|\Database.mdf; Integrated Security = True; User Instance = True;"); SqlCommand sqlDupCmd = new SqlCommand(sqlDupStmt, sqlDupConn); sqlDupCmd.Connection.Open(); SqlDataReader sqlDupReader = sqlDupCmd.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior.CloseConnection); if (sqlDupReader.Read()) { StatusLabel.Text = "Upload status: The file already exists."; sqlDupReader.Close(); } else { sqlDupReader.Close(); //See "How To Use DPAPI (Machine Store) from ASP.NET" for information about securely storing connection strings. String sqlStmt = "Insert into Songs values (@songpath);"; SqlConnection sqlConn = new SqlConnection(@"Data Source = .\SQLEXPRESS; AttachDbFilename = |DataDirectory|\Database.mdf; Integrated Security = True; User Instance = True; uid=sa; pwd=password;"); SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(sqlStmt, sqlConn); SqlParameter sqlParam = null; //Usage of Sql parameters also helps avoid SQL Injection attacks. sqlParam = cmd.Parameters.Add("@userName", SqlDbType.VarChar, 150); sqlParam.Value = Server.MapPath("~/Uploads/") + filename; //Attempt to add the song to the database. try { sqlConn.Open(); cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); FileUploadControl.SaveAs(Server.MapPath("~/Uploads/") + filename); songList.Items.Add(filename); StatusLabel.Text = "Upload status: File uploaded!"; } catch (Exception ex) { StatusLabel.Text = "Upload status: The file could not be uploaded. The following error occured: " + ex.Message; } finally { sqlConn.Close(); } } } } But this buttonfunction provides the same results: protected void uploadClicked(object sender, EventArgs e) { StatusLabel.Text = "FooBar"; } Has anyone had this problem before, or might know what the cause is? Thanks!

  • treeview binding wpf cannot bind nested property in a class

    - by devnet247
Hi all New to wpf and therefore struggling a bit. I am putting together a quick demo before we go for the full implementation I have a treeview on the left with Continent Country City structure when a user select the city it should populate some textboxes in a tabcontrol on the right hand side I made it sort of work but cannot make it work with composite objects. In a nutshell can you spot what is wrong with my zaml or code. Why is not binding to a my CityDetails.ClubsCount or CityDetails.PubsCount? • Am I crazy? (How) should I create a jQuery content editor?

    - by Brendon Muir
Ok, so I created a CMS mainly aimed at Primary Schools. It's getting fairly popular in New Zealand but the one thing I hate with a passion is the largely bad quality of in browser WYSIWYG editors. I've been using KTML (made by InterAKT which was purchased by Adobe a few years ago). In my opinion this editor does a lot of great things (image editing/management, thumbnailing and pretty good content editing). Unfortunately time has had its nasty way with this product and new browsers are beginning to break features and generally degrade the performance of this tool. It's also quite scary basing my livelihood on a defunct product! I've been hunting, in fact I regularly hunt around to see if anything has changed in the WYSIWYG arena. The closest thing I've seen that excites me is the WYSIHAT framework, but they've decided to ignore a pretty relevant editing paradigm which I'm going to outline below. This is the idea for my proposed editor, and I don't know of any existing products that can do this properly: Right, so the traditional model for editing let's say a Page in a CMS is to log into a 'back end' and click edit on the page. This will then load another screen with the editor in it and perhaps a few other fields. More advanced CMS's will maybe have several editing boxes that are for different portions of the page. Anyway, the big problem with this way of doing things is that the user is editing a document outside of the final context it will appear in. In the simplest terms, this means the page template. Many things can be wrong, e.g. the with of the editing area might be different to the width of the actual template area. The height is nearly always fixed because existing editors always seem to use IFRAMES for backward compatibility. And there are plenty of other beefs which I'm sure you're quite aware of if you're in this development area. Here's my editor utopia: You click 'Edit Page': The actual page (with its actual template) displays. Portions of the page have been marked as editable via a class name. You click on one of these areas (in my case it'd just be the big 'body' area in the middle of the template) and a editing bar drops down from the top of the screen with all your standard controls (bold, italic, insert image etc...). Iframes are never used, instead we rely on setting contentEditable to true on the DIV's in question. Firefox 2 and IE6 can go away, let's move on. You can edit the page knowing exactly how it will look when you save it. Because all the styles for this template are loaded, your headings will look correct, everything will be just dandy. Is this such a radical concept? Why are we still content with TinyMCE and that other editor that is too embarrassing to use because it sounds like a swear word!? Let's face the facts: I'm a JavaScript novice. I did once play around in this area using the Javascript Anthology from SitePoint as a guide. It was quite a cool learning experience, but they of course used the IFRAME to make their lives easier. I tried to go a different route and just use contentEditable and even tried to sidestep the native content editing routines (execCommand) and instead wrote my own. They kind of worked but there were always issues. Now we have jQuery, and a few libraries that abstract things like IE's lack of Range support. I'm wondering, am I crazy, or is it actually a good idea to try and build an editor around this editing paradigm using jQuery and relevant plugins to make the job easier? My actual questions: Where would you start? What plugins do you know of that would help the most? Is it worth it, or is there a magical project that already exists that I should join in on? What are the biggest hurdles to overcome in a project like this? Am I crazy? I hope this question has been posted on the right board. I figured it is a technical question as I'm wanting to know specific hurdles and pitfalls to watch out for and also if it is technically feasible with todays technology. Looking forward to hearing peoples thoughts and opinions.

  • Making hovor state of hidden list visible when page is active

    Hi guys, One day I hope to not be such a newbie on this stuff, but some of this feels so insurmountable sometimes! OK. I have a nav bar with hidden li items that are visible when hovered over. Here's the live site: http://www.rattletree.com Here's the code for the nav: <ul id="navbar"> <li id="iex"><a href="index.php">About Rattletree</a></li> <li id="upcomgshows"><a href="upcomingshows.php">Calendar</a></li> <li id="sods"><a href="#">Sights &amp; Sounds</a> <ul class="innerlist"> <li class="innerlist"><img class="arrowAdjust" src="images/curved_arrow.png" alt="" /></li> <li class="innerlist"><a href="/playlist.m3u" target="_blank" onclick="javascript:BatmoAudioPop('Rattletree Marimba',this.href,'1'); return false">Listen</a></li> <li class="innerlist"><a href="/new_pictures.php">Photos</a></li> <li class="innerlist"><a href="/video.php">Video</a></li> <li class="innerlist"><a href="/press.php">Press</a></li> </ul> </li> <li id="bookin"><a href="#">Contact</a> <ul class="innerlist"> <li class="innerlist"><img class="arrowAdjust" src="images/curved_arrow.png" alt="" /></li> <li class="innerlist"><a href="/booking.php">Booking Info</a></li> <li class="innerlist"><a href="/media.php">Media Inquiries</a></li> </ul> </li> <li id="ste"> <a href="/sounds.php">Store</a></li> <li id="instrumes"><a href="/instruments.php">The Instruments</a></li> <li id="classe"><a href="classes.php">Workshops</a></li> </ul> css: div#navbar2 { background-color:#546F8B; border-bottom:1px solid #546F8B; border-top:1px solid #000000; display:inline-block; position:relative; width:100%; } div#navbar2 ul#navbar { color:#FFFFFF; font-family:Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size:16px; letter-spacing:1px; margin:10px 0; padding:0; white-space:nowrap; } div#navbar2 ul#navbar li ul.innerlist { color:#000000; display:none; position:relative; z-index:20; } div#navbar2 ul#navbar li { display:inline; list-style-type:none; margin:0; padding:0; position:relative; } Now it's a bit tricky what I want to do: If a user navigates to one of the innerlist pages, I'd like that innerlist ul to remain visible (with the specific li displaying the hovered state). Now I think I could figure that out on my own, but you can see on the live page that if the user is on a page from the innerlist and that list was visible, then if they hovered over the other nav tab, then those innerlists would overlap. This is a problem. Hopefully that last sentence makes sense! In short: I need to keep the inner list of the active page displaying, BUT if the user hovers over another nav button WITH it's own inner list, then the live innerlist needs to disappear. Clear as mud?

  • Can't get my head around background workers in .NET

    - by Connel
I have wrote an application that syncs two folders together. The problem with the program is that it stops responding whilst copying files. A quick search of stack-overflow told me I need to use something called a background worker. I have read a few pages on the net about this but find it really hard to understand as I'm pretty new to programming. Below is the code for my application - how can I simply put all of the File.Copy(....) commands into their own background worker (if that's even how it works)? Below is the code for the button click event that runs the sub procedure and the sub procedure I wish to use a background worker on all the File.Copy lines. Button event: protected virtual void OnBtnSyncClicked (object sender, System.EventArgs e) { //sets running boolean to true booRunning=true; //sets progress bar to 0 prgProgressBar.Fraction = 0; //resets values used by progressbar dblCurrentStatus = 0; dblFolderSize = 0; //tests if user has entered the same folder for both target and destination if (fchDestination.CurrentFolder == fchTarget.CurrentFolder) { //creates message box MessageDialog msdSame = new MessageDialog(this, DialogFlags.Modal, MessageType.Error, ButtonsType.Close, "You cannot sync two folders that are the same"); //sets message box title msdSame.Title="Error"; //sets respone type ResponseType response = (ResponseType) msdSame.Run(); //if user clicks on close button or closes window then close message box if (response == ResponseType.Close || response == ResponseType.DeleteEvent) { msdSame.Destroy(); } return; } //tests if user has entered a target folder that is an extension of the destination folder // or if user has entered a desatination folder that is an extension of the target folder if (fchTarget.CurrentFolder.StartsWith(fchDestination.CurrentFolder) || fchDestination.CurrentFolder.StartsWith(fchTarget.CurrentFolder)) { //creates message box MessageDialog msdContains = new MessageDialog(this, DialogFlags.Modal, MessageType.Error, ButtonsType.Close, "You cannot sync a folder with one of its parent folders"); //sets message box title msdContains.Title="Error"; //sets respone type and runs message box ResponseType response = (ResponseType) msdContains.Run(); //if user clicks on close button or closes window then close message box if (response == ResponseType.Close || response == ResponseType.DeleteEvent) { msdContains.Destroy(); } return; } //gets folder size of target folder FileSizeOfTarget(fchTarget.CurrentFolder); //gets folder size of destination folder FileSizeOfDestination(fchDestination.CurrentFolder); //runs SyncTarget procedure SyncTarget(fchTarget.CurrentFolder); //runs SyncDestination procedure SyncDestination(fchDestination.CurrentFolder); //informs user process is complete prgProgressBar.Text = "Finished"; //sets running bool to false booRunning = false; } Sync sub-procedure: protected void SyncTarget (string strCurrentDirectory) { //string array of all the directories in directory string[] staAllDirectories = Directory.GetDirectories(strCurrentDirectory); //string array of all the files in directory string[] staAllFiles = Directory.GetFiles(strCurrentDirectory); //loop over each file in directory foreach (string strFile in staAllFiles) { //string of just the file's name and not its path string strFileName = System.IO.Path.GetFileName(strFile); //string containing directory in target folder string strDirectoryInsideTarget = System.IO.Path.GetDirectoryName(strFile).Substring(fchTarget.CurrentFolder.Length); //inform user as to what file is being copied prgProgressBar.Text="Syncing " + strFile; //tests if file does not exist in destination folder if (!File.Exists(fchDestination.CurrentFolder + "/" + strDirectoryInsideTarget + "/" + strFileName)) { //if file does not exist copy it to destination folder, the true below means overwrite if file already exists File.Copy (strFile, fchDestination.CurrentFolder + "/" + strDirectoryInsideTarget + "/" + strFileName, true); } //tests if file does exist in destination folder if (File.Exists(fchDestination.CurrentFolder + "/" + strDirectoryInsideTarget + "/" + strFileName)) { //long (number) that contains date of last write time of target file long lngTargetFileDate = File.GetLastWriteTime(strFile).ToFileTime(); //long (number) that contains date of last write time of destination file long lngDestinationFileDate = File.GetLastWriteTime(fchDestination.CurrentFolder + "/" + strDirectoryInsideTarget + "/" + strFileName).ToFileTime(); //tests if target file is newer than destination file if (lngTargetFileDate > lngDestinationFileDate) { //if it is newer then copy file from target folder to destination folder File.Copy (strFile, fchDestination.CurrentFolder + "/" + strDirectoryInsideTarget + "/" + strFileName, true); } } //gets current file size FileInfo FileSize = new FileInfo(strFile); //sets file's filesize to dblCurrentStatus and adds it to current total of files dblCurrentStatus = dblCurrentStatus + FileSize.Length; double dblPercentage = dblCurrentStatus/dblFolderSize; prgProgressBar.Fraction = dblPercentage; } //loop over each folder in target folder foreach (string strDirectory in staAllDirectories) { //string containing directories inside target folder but not any higher directories string strDirectoryInsideTarget = strDirectory.Substring(fchTarget.CurrentFolder.Length); //tests if directory does not exist inside destination folder if (!Directory.Exists(fchDestination.CurrentFolder + "/" + strDirectoryInsideTarget)) { //it directory does not exisit create it Directory.CreateDirectory(fchDestination.CurrentFolder + "/" + strDirectoryInsideTarget); } //run sync on all files in directory SyncTarget(strDirectory); } } Any help will be greatly appreciated as after this the program will pretty much be finished :D
