• Reload Gtk+ 3.0 theme

  I'm trying to customize my Gtk+3.0 theme, when I make a change in my theme, I change between two themes (with MyUnity) to force applications to reload the theme and test mine. But when I do that, the theme is not refreshed to appreciate my changes, still in an old version, apparently Gtk+ is caching the theme information somewhere. When I close and reopen session, I can appreciate my theme changes, but doing this for each change made is very annoying. Is there a way to refresh my theme and see my changes (a command line program or an Gtk+ API call for example)?

  LISP (and dialects such as Scheme, Common LISP and Clojure) haven't gained much industry support even though they are quite decent programming languages. (At the moment though it seems like they are gaining some traction). Now, this is not directly related to the question, which is would you use a LISP dialect for a production program? What kind of program and why? Usages of the kind of being integrated into some other code (e.g. C) are included as well, but note that it is what you mean in your answer. Broad concepts are preferred but specific applications are okey as well.

The use of Software in systems and solutions that provide dedicated functionality (other than as mentioned above) or designed for use in embedded or function-specific software applications... are excluded from this definition and not licensed under this Agreement. Do these restrictions also apply to OpenJDK and other possible implementations? Is the only way to use Java in such an environment to acquire a separate license from Oracle?

• Installed ubuntu on Win7 but no application found (no terminal, no browser ?)

  I have installed ubuntu yesterday on my Win7 laptop. Everything was all right. Really nice and easy installation. Congratulations to all you. But I have a problem, I couldnt find any application even no terminal in the installation. And even not possible to install in system settings or software update menu. Sorry for my ignorance but how can I download or install some applications ? Thanks for your support. Marsel

• How to make show desktop work only on the current workspace?

  I am an active user of workspaces in Ubuntu. Until recently, pressing Ctrl+Alt+D (show desktop) acted only on the current workspace. For example, one might want to minimize the applications in the current workspace, open a file, and then bring some of them back. The current implementation works on all workspaces uniformly which is counter-intuitive to me. The reason for the existence of workspaces is the separation of logic -- one can have a browser open in one workspace, a text editor in another, a terminal in a third. The current functionality goes against this idea. Is there a way to restrict the action of the show desktop command to a single workspace only?

• Need some help fixing fonts (11.04 Alpha 3)

  Hi I changed my Application Font and Window Font to something much better looking but it has a few problems. The font is Umpush Light. It's doing this in the software center: http://img851.imageshack.us/img851/8307/workspace1004.png If I increase the font size from 11 to 12, that problem goes away, but then everything is too large. When I increase it this also happens: http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/6231/workspace1006e.png It starts moving the text in the search box up, and the "All Applications" drop down gets messed up too. It seems like there is too much padding around the font or something. Anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this?

  I think the title is quite self-explaining, still this is a big area I think, so let me drop a few words: I've got a simple experiment game project going, and I want to make sure, that the user isn't messing with the game assets like player skin etc. In my opinion the best way would be that on production I would merge all the assets into one file and the application would check the hash of that file, so it could detect the corrupted data.   I'm thinking of developing software for Ubuntu and other related Linux-based distros (like Linux Mint). But currently am at a loss for where to start. Would learning Python be enough/good? And what are the other things I should know about before starting this kind of developing? And will I be able to publish my apps to a software store like Ubuntu store even if I am from outside USA/UK? If not, what are the options I have to make my apps reach the audience? As a lot of users had asked, I intend to build applications only for Linux (I'm thinking of Gnome) that will be a bit business and enterprise oriented.   Hi I am getting ready to create my first web aplication.I have some knowledge of databases but I have never used databases with relationship created beetween them and also I am not sure how to acces the data in the relationship.My experience is limited to basic CRUD applications and working on simple tables with no realtionship using PHP and MySql. For example I will be creating a login system and for each user I would like to create a profile page that store different data(name , address , profile image etc.).Some of the info will be the same in both tables so there is no point in creating the same table twice. What I would like is if anyone can tell of some tutorials so I can better understand the concept?

  I have a J2EE application running on an IBM Websphere Application Server on a Windows Operating System. Occasionally I see an OutOfMemoryError Exception with the following information in the javacore file. 1TISIGINFO Dump Event "systhrow" (00040000) Detail "java/lang/OutOfMemoryError":"Failed to create a thread: retVal -1073741830, errno 12" received Java is run with the following configurations: -Xms512m -Xmx1350m -Xscmx50M Analyzing the javacore file, the number of threads are just 124. Analyzing the heap dump, the memory occupied by the heap is about 500Mb. Given the relatively normal number of threads and heap size a lot lower than the maximum, I am trying to figure out why I see this error? I´m not sure if this helps, but here is the top section of the javacore file...   I'm in process of migrating a JSF 1.2 application to JSF 2.x. My application is using the following APIs: maven-jetty-plugin (version 6.1.10) maven-compiler-plugin (version 2.3.1) myfaces-api & -impl (version 1.2.7) jsf-facelets (version 1.1.14) richfaces (version 3.3.3) javax servlet jstl (version 1.2) javax servlet-api (version 2.5) and some other plugins as well. I updated the versions in faces-config.xml file and removed Facelets 1.1.14 libs and replaced MyFaces 1.2 by JSF 2.x libs, however the application didn't work.   For my current project, we're using some CLR 2 based mixed mode assemblies. In order to use these from within a .NET 4 targetted assembly, I know you have to add useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy=true to the <startup> element within app.config. I understand that this changes the activation policy, causing these mixed-mode assemblies to be loaded using the highest supported version of the CLR. However, are there any side effects to doing this? What potential issues should I watch for when enabling the non-default activation policy?

• Debugging unmanaged code while debugging managed code

  Hi, The .NET 3.5 application I am working on consists of bunch of different solutions. Some of these solutions consist of managed code(C#) and others have unmanaged code(C++). Methods written in C# communicate with the ones written in C++. I am trying to trace the dependencies between these various functions and I thought setting breakpoints on the solution consisting my C++ functions. One of the C# solutions have the startup project. I run this solution in debug mode with the expectation that the breakpoints in my unmanaged code will be hit but nothing really happens. Can somebody guide me through the process of debugging mixed applications such as these using the Visual Studio IDE? Thanks
