  • How do I diagnose "Microsoft .NET ClickOnce Launch Utility has stopped working"?

    Hello StackOverflow! We deploy our application using ClickOnce, installed from a file path. For 24 versions it has been working perfectly - now, on version 25 I get the following error once the application has installed and it launches: If I test a previous deployment on the same machine, it works. Where can I even begin to look to find the cause of this error? I already checked the windows event logs - nothing. EDIT: I noticed that while the dialog is displayed, a temporary xml file 'WER561D.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml' is generated in my temp folder.   • When is Visual Studio 2010 expected to RTM?

    Microsoft originally slated the final release build for April 12, 2010. Somasegar said the Visual Studio 2010 and .NET Framework 4 releases will now be pushed back "a few weeks." I know the version / product name says "2010", but that doesn't necessarily mean that it will RTM in 2010. After all VS'2008 RTM'd in November 2007. The last Beta of VS'2008 came out in July 2007, and it RTM'd in November. So based on the previous version that places VS'2010 to RTM in September 2010 at the very earliest since the first Beta just came out in May. Anyone have any other speculations?

  • Outlook 2003 View Control with C#

    I want to embed a custom c# windows form (or WPF) user control into an outlook view. I am using Outlook 2003 and Visual Studio 2008. I did download an example for Outlook 2007 here: http://blogs.msdn.com/e2eblog/archive/2008/01/09/outlook-folder-homepage-hosting-wpf-activex-and-windows-forms-controls.aspx and also here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa479345.aspx I tested it and under 2007 it is working, but for 2003 i am getting the following error when i want to open the view: Could not complete the operation due to error 80131509 I can start it from Visual Studio, it is registering the folder just fine, debugging works and all that. It creates an HTML page that contains my type as an object parameter - but the Initialize method that should be called is either not present (not shown via JS) or it has some errors. The breakpoints for RegisterSafeForScripting are also never hit - maybe related to that. Thx in advance!

  • Has anyone installed NServiceBus onto a Microsoft clustered server?

    I am trying to install NServiceBus onto a clustered win2k3 host. The configuration utility provided (runner.exe) throw some errors that I did not catch, and it now runs correctly.     Any help is appreciated: I'm developing a C#.Net app in VS2010 that interacts with Excel. The app works correctly on my local machine. Uploading to a remote Windows 2003 server however, breaks the app. Originally, I received the following message Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {00024500-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} failed due to the following error: 80070005 After Googling the problem (which suggested a permissions problem) i tried this: Installing Excel 2007 Going into Component Services on the remote server and following the instructions here: http://blog.crowe.co.nz/archive/2006/03/02/589.aspx Now I get this message on the same operation: Exception from HRESULT: 0x800A03EC Google searches seem to be suggesting that this is a version match error. However, both the local machine and the remote server use Excel 2007. Any suggestions would be very welcome. Thanks in advance. -Daniel

    Hi All. In a standard setup of Parent Child relation, lets say Project and Task. Where a Project is made up of lots of Tasks. So in a standard RDB, we have a Project (ID, Name, Deadline) Task (ID, FK_To_Project, Name, Description, isCompleted) this is all very straight forward. We have an MVC View that views Projects, so we get a nice list of all the project Names next to each deadline. Now we want to CREATE a new PROJECT. The Edit view opens, we type a name, say, 'Make a cup of Tea', with tomorrow as the deadline! Still in this view/web page, I would like a list of all the Child Tasks, in a standard list, with Edit, Delete, and a Create/Add Task button too, just below the 'parent table' details. The simplest way to describe this, is the Parents Table Create/Edit view, with the Childes List View Below it. 1) The ideal solution will also allow my Child Table (Tasks) to have Children also (for more complex scenarios) , and so on, and on, and on. 2) If I navigate away from my Created Project, I don’t want all sorts of random stuff laying around, they went away, it’s gone! 3) I’d expect all the same functionality when Editing an existing project. I’m struggling with the ‘Add New Child’, I had a model dialog (jquery) and all was well, but now when editing an existing child/task, I need to populate the Child Edit, which is a pain and will need loads of java script I think :( How can this be achieved in MVC, does anybody have any examples?

    I have a half dozen sites on my server and I would like to get some info from IIS7 to display in the footer of each page (as long as you are an admin of course). I am going through the ServerObject and found Sites but am not finding anything obvious for "this site". What should I do to get at the information for the exact site in IIS7 that the page is running on?   • Excel and Tab Delimited Files Question

    I am encountering what I believe to be a strange issue with Excel (in this case, Excel 2007, but maybe also Excel 2003, but don't have access to it as I write this). I can reliably convert some server data over into a tab-delimited format (been doing this for years) and then open it using Excel - no issue. However, what seems to be happening is if I have an html <table inside one of the fields, it looks like Excel 2007 thinks it should be converting the table into rows and columns inside Excel (not what I want). As you might imagine, this throws off the entire spreadsheet. So question is, is there any way to set up excel to NOT do this (perhaps some setting in Excel that pertains to reading tab delimited files), or am I missing something? Thanks.

  • Natural language processing - Ideas for beginner's projects

    Hi guys, I am a beginner in NLP and NLTK. I am very interested in NLP and hence joined a weekend course on AI in some local institution, which requires me to do a project for completion of the course, and I decided to do it in NLP. The problem is,the instructor is not good at all for this course (According to me she is just a charlatan) (or may not be very interested in teaching as this is her last batch here after which the institute is going to send her out). So I am stuck in a situation where where I got to finish this project in a month to one and half months period, but as a naive person in the field I am feeling it very difficult to comprehend the things required to decide on project. (Also, as I am working full time, I am not finding enough time to dedicate on this). I considered using NLTK toolkit in python for the project for following reasons. (1) Python is famous for ease of use, rapid prototyping and very active community (considering very short span of time I have, and as I am a C programmer by profession, I need a language that I can learn fast and is simple to use). (2) NLTk has good review, and extensive documentation and a very active community. So the problem is what project should I take up, so that I can learn something and will be able to finish project in time. (I know almost nothing in NLP, don't even know what exactly corpora is... :( ) So, please suggest me some topics that I should consider for the project. Regards, MicroKernel :)

    I have two versions of a piece of text and I want to produce an HTML view of its revision similar to what Google Docs or Stack Overflow displays. I need to do this in Python. I don't know what this technique is called but I assume that it has a name and hopefully there is a Python library that can do it.     I have the following model class Project < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :assignments, :conditions => {:deleted_at => nil} has_many :members, :conditions => {:deleted_at => nil} accepts_nested_attributes_for :members, :allow_destroy => true end class Member < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :project belongs_to :person belongs_to :role has_many :assignments, :dependent => :destroy, :conditions => {:deleted_at => nil} accepts_nested_attributes_for :assignments, :allow_destroy => true validates_presence_of :role_id validates_presence_of :project_id end and I assume the controller will populate the member.project_id upon project.save for each nested member record. However, I get a validation error stating the project_id is blank. My controller method: def create # @project is created in before_filter if @project.save flash[:notice] = "Successfully created project." redirect_to @project else render :action => 'new' end end Do I need to manually set the project_id in each nested member record? Or what is necessary for the controller to populate when it creates the member records?

  • Java equivalent to VS solution file

    I'm a C# guy trying to learn Java. I understand the syntax and the basic architecture of the Java platform, and have no problem doing smaller projects myself, but I'd really like to be able to download some open source projects to learn from the work of others. However, I'm running into a stumbling block that I can't seem to find any information on. When I download an open source .NET project, I can open the .sln file with visual studio and everything just loads. Sure, there's occasionally a missing reference or something, but there's really very little configuration required to get things going. I'm not sensing the same ease of use with Java. I'm using eclipse at the moment, and it feels like for every project I have to create a brand new Eclipse project using "create from existing source", and almost nothing compiles properly without significant reconfiguration. In the case of web projects, it's even worse, because Eclipse doesn't appear to support creating a web project from existing source. I have to create a standard Java project from source, then then apparently modify the project file to include the bindings for the web toolkit stuff to work properly. Assuming I want to be able to contribute to a project later on, I shouldn't have to be making such drastic changes to the file structure to get my IDE to a workable state. What am I missing?

I have used KiKS (in MATLAB for simulating Khepera robots), MobotSim (in Windows, simulates a point like robot using a BASIC editor) and Player Stage/Gazebo (with C/C++ on Ubuntu Linux). My question, can MS Robotics Studio be installed in Ubuntu Linux using Wine (I am using 1.1.31) ? Has anyone done it ? Thanks for your reply !

    I'm successfully setting a date-picker with an initial date from a plist, but I see some unwanted blue values in the month, day, and year components, presumably corresponding to current date. So if today is April 18, 2010 and initial date being set is March 19, 2008, it looks like this (bold represents the blue): January 17 2006 February 18 2007 ------------------------------ March 19 2008 ------------------------------ April 20 2009 May 21 2010 First question is: How do I get rid of the blue? And second question: Ideally, how do I get it to look like this? January 17 2006 February 18 2007 ------------------------------ March 19 2008 ------------------------------ April 20 2009 May 21 2010 Third question, totally unrelated and not as important: How could I have gotten the above to show in blue rather than bold? Selecting this gives you a History window showing the last 200 or so changesets, either for the specific Team Project chosen, or across all Team Projects. It is this history across all Team Projects that I am wondering about. The command-line tf.exe history command provides (as I understand it) basically the same functionality as is provided by the VS TFS Source Control plug-in. But I cannot work out how to get tf.exe history to provide this across-all-Team-Projects history. At a command line, supposing I have C:\ mapped as the root of my workspace, and Foo, Bar, and Baz as Team Projects, I can do C:\> tf history Foo /recursive /stopafter:200 to get the last 200 changesets that affected Team Project Foo; or from within a Team Project folder C:\Bar> tf history *.* /recursive /stopafter:200 which does the same thing for Team Project Bar - note that the wildcard *.* is allowed here. However, none of these work (each gives the error message shown): C:\> tf history /recursive /stopafter:200 The history command takes exactly one item C:\> tf history *.* /recursive /stopafter:200 Unable to determine the source control server C:\> tf history *.* /server:servername /recursive /stopafter:200 Unable to determine the workspace I don't see an option in the docs for tf for specifying a workspace; it seems to only want to determine it from the current folder. So what is VS 2005 doing? Is it internally doing a history on each Team Project in turn and then sticking the results together?? note also that I have tried with Power Tools; tfpt history from the command line gives exactly the same error messages seen here

  • Does the Microsoft SQL Server native client support IDBAsynchNotify?

    I'm working on some OLE DB code that runs queries on MS SQL Server via ICommand::Execute. I'm converting this code to operate asynchronously by setting the DBPROPVAL_ASYNCH_INITIALIZE property on the command before executing. I'd prefer to register a IDBAsynchNotify sink so that my code can be notified of events, as opposed to polling or blocking via ISSAsynchStatus. The documentation for ICommand::Execute does not show IConnectionPointContainer as an acceptable riid parameter, but the same document, when discussing the DB_S_ASYNCHRONOUS return code, suggests that it is possible to request an IConnectionPointContainer interface that I could use to register my event sink. When I call ICommand::Execute, passing IID_IConnectionPointContainer as the riid parameter, I receive the E_NOINTERFACE error. I also tried setting the DBPROP_IConnectionPointContainer property before Execute but I received the same results. If I have to, I'll use ISSAsynchStatus, but I'd much rather use IDBAsynchNotify. Is it possible?

  • Overriding MSBuildExtensionsPath in the MSBuild task is flaky

    This is already cross-posted at MS Connect: https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/560451 I am attempting to override the property $(MSBuildExtensionsPath) when building a solution containing a C# web application project via msbuild. I am doing this because a web application csproj file imports the file "$(MSBuildExtensionsPath)\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v9.0\WebApplications\Microsoft.WebApplication.targets". This file is installed by Visual Studio to the standard $(MSBuildExtensionsPath) location (C:\Program Files\MSBuild). I would like to eliminate the dependency on this file being installed on the machine (I would like to keep my build servers as "clean" as possible). In order to do this, I would like to include the Microsoft.WebApplication.targets in source control with my project, and then override $(MSBuildExtensionsPath) so that the csproj will import this included version of Microsoft.WebApplication.targets. This approach allows me to remove the dependency without requiring me to manually modify the web application csproj file. This scheme works fine when I build my solution file from the command line, supplying the custom value of $(MSBuildExtensionsPath) at the command line to msbuild via the /p flag. However, if I attempt to build the solution using the MSBuild task in a custom msbuild project file (overriding MSBuildExtensionsPath using the "Properties" attribute), it fails because the web app csproj file is attempting to import the Microsoft.WebApplication.targets from the "standard" Microsoft.WebApplication.targets location (C:\Program Files\MSBuild). Notably, if I run msbuild using the "Exec" task in my custom project file, it works. Even more notably, the FIRST time I run the build using the "MSBuild" task AFTER I have run the build using the "EXEC" task (or directly from the command line), the build works. Has anyone seen behavior like this before? Am I crazy? Is anyone aware of the root cause of this problem, a possible workaround, or whether this is a legitimate bug in MSBuild?

  • How do I read live camera data on the iPhone (like Microsoft Tag Reader)?

    While the user is still in UIImagePickerController, I'd like to be able to get a UIImage representation of the image in the camera, make some changes to the image, and then display the altered image instead of the image coming directly from the camera. How can I do this? I tried setting a timer and calling takePicture, but calling it seemed to have no effect. The documentation says: Calling this method while an image is being captured has no effect. You must wait until the associated delegate object receives an imagePickerController:didFinishPickingMediaWithInfo: message before you can capture another picture. So how can I do this? I know that it's possible, since apps like Tag Reader are able to detect when something specific rolls in front of the camera. Thanks!
