• unittest import error with virtualenv + google-app-engine-django

  I'm working with google-app-engine-django + zipped django. Just running "python manage.py test" succeeded without error. But with virtualenv, test was failed with "import unittest error". same error with Django 1.1. - OSX 10.5.6 - google-app-engine-django (r101 via svn) : r100 was failed with launcher 1.3.0 - GoogleAppLauncher 1.3.0 - • ActionScript/Flex ArrayCollection of Number objects to Java Collection<Long> using BlazeDS

  Hello, I am using Flex 3 and make a call through a RemoteObject to a Java 1.6 method and exposed with BlazeDS and Spring 2.5.5 Integration over a SecureAMFChannel. My Java service class looks like this; public class MySerivce { public Collection<DataObjectPOJO> getData(Collection<Long> myArrayParam) { //The following line is never executed and throws an exception for (Long l : myArrayParam) { System.out.println(l); } } } The exception that is thrown is a ClassCastException saying that a java.lang.Integer cannot be cast to a java.lang.Long. I worked around this issue by looping through the collection using Object instead, checking to see if it is an Integer, cast it to one, then do a .longValue() on it then add it to a temp ArraList. Yuk. The big problem is my application is supposed to handle records in the billions from a DB and the id will overflow the 2.147 billion limit of an integer. I would love to have BlazeDS or the JavaAdapter in it, translate the ActionScript Number to a Long as specified in the method. I hate that even though I use the generic the underlying element type of the collection is an Integer. If this was straight Java, it wouldn't compile. Any ideas are appreciated. Solutions are even better! :)

• Python: combine logging and wx so that logging stream is redirectet to stdout/stderr frame

  Here's the thing: I'm trying to combine the logging module with wx.App()'s redirect feature. My intention is to log to a file AND to stderr. It seems to me that wx.App can't redirect stderr to a frame as soon as a logger instance uses stderr as output. wxPythons Docs claim the wanted behavior though, see here. Any ideas? Uwe

• SSRS Report from Oracle DB - Use stored procedure

  I am developing a report in Sql Server Reporting Services 2005, connecting to an Oracle 11g database. As you post replies perhaps it will help to know that I'm skilled in MSSQL Server and inexperienced in Oracle. I have multiple nested subreports and need to use summary data in outer reports and the same data but in detail in the inner reports. In order to spare the DB server from multiple executions, I thought to populate some temp tables at the beginning and then query just them the multiple times in the report and the subreports. In SSRS, Datasets are evidently executed in the order they appear in the RDL file. And you can have a dataset that doesn't return a rowset. So I created a stored procedure to populate my four temp tables and made this the first Dataset in my report. This SP works when I run it from SQLDeveloper and I can query the data from the temp tables. However, this didn't appear to work out because SSRS was apparently not reusing the same session, so even though the global temporary tables were created with ON COMMIT PRESERVE ROWS my Datasets were empty. I switched to using "real" tables and am now passing in an additional parameter, a GUID in string form, uniquely generated on each new execution, that is part of the primary key of each table, so I can get back just the rows for this execution. Running this from Sql Developer works fine, example: DECLARE ActivityCode varchar2(15) := '1208-0916 '; ExecutionID varchar2(32) := SYS_GUID(); BEGIN CIPProjectBudget (ActivityCode, ExecutionID); END; Never mind that in this example I don't know the GUID, this simply proves it works because rows are inserted to my four tables. But in the SSRS report, I'm still getting no rows in my Datasets and SQL Developer confirms no rows are being inserted. So I'm thinking along the lines of: Oracle uses implicit transactions and my changes aren't getting committed? Even though I can prove that the non-rowset returning SP is executing (because if I leave out the parameter mapping it complains at report rendering time about not having enough parameters) perhaps it's not really executing. Somehow. Wrong execution order isn't the problem or rows would appear in the tables, and they aren't. I'm interested in any ideas about how to accomplish this (especially the part about not running the main queries multiple times). I'll redesign my whole report. I'll stop using a stored procedure. Suggest anything you like! I just need help getting this working and I am stuck. If you want more details, in my SSRS report I have a List object (it's a container that repeats once for each row in a Dataset) that has some header values and then contains a subreport. Eventually, there will be four total reports: one main report, with three nested subreports. Each subreport will be in a List on the parent report.

• Using Joda DateTime as a Jersey parameter?

  I'd like to use Joda's DateTime for query parameters in Jersey, but this isn't supported by Jersey out-of-the-box. I'm assuming that implementing an InjectableProvider is the proper way to add DateTime support. Can someone point me to a good implementation of an InjectableProvider for DateTime? Or is there an alternative approach worth recommending? (I'm aware I can convert from Date or String in my code, but this seems like a lesser solution). Thanks.   How do I install SciPy on my system? Update 1: for the NumPy part (that SciPy depends on) there is actually an installer for 64 bit Windows: numpy-1.3.0.win-amd64-py2.6.msi (is direct download URL, 2310144 bytes). Running the SciPy superpack installer results in this message in a dialog box: "Cannot install. Python version 2.6 required, which was not found in the registry." I already have Python 2.6.2 installed (and a working Django installation in it), but I don't know about any Registry story. • Need additional help with binding multiple CommandParameters using MultiBinding

  I need to have a command handler for a ToggleButton that can take multiple parameters, namely the IsChecked property of said ToggleButton, along with a constant value, which could be a string, byte, int... doesn't matter. I found this great question on SO and followed the answer's link and read up on MultiBinding and IMultiValueConverter. It went really smoothly until I had to write the MultiBinding, when I realized that I also need to pass a constant value and couldn't do something like <Binding Value="1" /> I then came across another similar question that Kent Boogaart answered, and then I started to think about ways that I could get around this. One possible way is to not use MVVM and simply add the Tag property to my ToggleButton, in which case my MultiBinding would look like this: <MultiBinding Converter="{StaticResource MyConverter}"> <MultiBinding.Bindings> <Binding Path="IsChecked" /> <Binding Path="Tag" /> </MultiBinding.Bindings> </MultiBinding> Kent had made a comment along the lines of, "if you're using MVVM you should be able to get around this issue". However, I'm not sure that's an option for me, even though I have adopted MVVM as my WPF pattern of necessity choice. The reason why I say this is that I have wayyyy more than one ToggleButton in the UserControl, and each of the ToggleButtons' Commands need to call the same function. But since they are ToggleButtons, I can't use the property bound to IsChecked in the ViewModel, because I don't know which one was last clicked. I suppose I could add another private property to keep track of this, but it seems a little silly. As far as the constant goes, I could probably get rid of this if I did the tracking idea, but not sure of any other way to get around it. I just realized that Tag is a string... duh. It's working now! The key was to use a RelativeSource of Self.

• Add Service Reference is generating Message Contracts

  OK, this has been haunting me for a while, can't find much on Google and I am starting to lose hope so I am reverting to the SO community. When I import a given service using "Add service Reference" on Visual Studio 2008 (SP1) all the Request/Response messages are being unnecessarily wrapped into Message Contracts (named as -- "operationName" + "Request"/"Response" + "1" at the end). The code generator says: // CODEGEN: Generating message contract since the operation XXX is neither RPC nor document wrapped. The guys who are generating the wsdl from a Java service say they are specifying DOCUMENT-LITERAL/WRAPPED. Any help/pointer/clue would be highly appreciated. Update: this is a sample of my wsdl for one of the operations that look suspicious. • Debugging XSLT with extension objects in Visual Studio 2010

  I'm currently working on a project that involves a lot of XSLT transformations and I really need a debugger (I have XSLTs that are 1000+ lines long and I didn't write them :-). The project is written in C# and makes use of extension objects: xslArg.AddExtensionObject("urn:<obj>", new <Obj>()); From my knowledge, in this situation Visual Studio is the only tool that can help me debug the transformations step-by-step. The static debugger is no use because of the extension objects (it throws an error when it reaches elements that reference their namespace). Fortunately, I've found this thread which gave me a starting point (at least I know it can be done). After searching MSDN, I found the criteria that makes stepping into the transform possible. They are listed here. In short: the XML and the XSLT must be loaded via a class that has the IXmlLineInfo interface (XmlReader & co.) the XML resolver used in the XSLTCompiledTransform constructor is file-based (XmlUriResolver should work). the stylesheet should be on the local machine or on the intranet (?) From what I can tell, I fit all these criteria, but it still doesn't work.   I have about 300 images I want to upload to my new Tumblr account, becuase my old wordpress site got hacked and I no longer wish to use wordpress. I uploaded one image a day for 300 days, and I'd like to be able to take these images and upload them to my tumblr site using the api. The images are currently local, stored in /images/. They all have the date they were uploaded as the first ten characters of the filename, (01-01-2009-filename.png) and I went to send this date parameter along as well. I want to be able to see the progress of the script by outputting the responses from the API to my error_log.   Does anyone know how best to determine the specific underlying cause of this exception? Consider a WCF service that is supposed to use Powershell 2.0 remoting to execute MSBuild on remote machines. In both cases the scripting environments are being called in-process (via C# for Powershell and via Powershell for MSBuild), rather than 'shelling-out' - this was a specific design decision to avoid command-line hell as well as to enable passing actual objects into the Powershell script.   Hi All, I'm new to EF(any version) and POCO. I'm trying to use POCO entities with a generic repository in a "code-first" mode(?) I've got some POCO Entities (no proxies, no lazy loading, nothing). I have a repository(of T as Entity) which provides me with basic get/getsingle/getfirst functionality which takes a lambda as a parameter (specifically a System.Func(Of T, Boolean)) Now as I'm returning the simplest possible POCO object, none of the relationship parameters work once they've been retrieved from the database (as I would expect). However, I had assumed (wrongly) that my lambda query passed to the repository would be able to use the links between entities as it would be executed against the DB before the simple POCO entities are generated. The flow is: GUI calls: Public Function GetAllTypesForCategory(ByVal CategoryID As Guid) As IEnumerable(Of ItemType) Return ItemTypeRepository.Get(Function(x) x.Category.ID = CategoryID) End Function Get is defined in Repository(of T as Entity): Public Function [Get](ByVal Query As System.Func(Of T, Boolean)) As IEnumerable(Of T) Implements Interfaces.IRepository(Of T).Get Return ObjectSet.Where(Query).ToList() End Function The code doesn't error when this method is called but does when I try to use the result set. (This seems to be a lazy loading behaviour so I tried adding the .ToList() to force eager loading - no difference) I'm using unity/IOC to wire it all up but I believe that's irrelevant to the issue I'm having NB: Relationships between entities are being configured properly and if I turn on proxies/lazy loading/etc... this all just works. I'm intentionally leaving all that turned off as some calls to the BL will be from a website but some will be via WCF - So I want the simplest possible objects. Also, I don't want a change in an object passed to the UI to be committed to the DB if another BL method calls Commit() Can someone please either point out how to make this work or explain why it's not possible?   Hi, I have a main form which contains multiple worker threads. These threads raise events which update Telerik controls on the main form. The event handlers contain code which check if InvokeRequired and BeginInvoke where required. At random interval I am receiving the following exception, and have no idea on how where to find this? • WebClient error when using a thread in .NET

  I'm having a very weird error using the WebClient class in .NET 4. The app simply downloads some files off the internet and provides output on a textbox (the GUI is WPF). The method that does this is the following: void DownloadFiles(object files) { fileL = (List<string>) files; foreach (string url in fileL) { byte[] data; using (System.Net.WebClient k = new WebClient()) { data = k.DownloadData(url); } //Bunch of irrelevant code goes here... } } (I added the using while trying to divine [yes I'm that desperate/ignorant] a solution, the problem happens even if the webclient is declared and initialized outside the foreach loop) Now the problem appears only when I'm executing this method on a thread separate from the WPF UI main thread. If it is executed on the UI thread then it works perfectly. When a new thread is created with: Thread t = new Thread(DownloadFiles); t.Start(files); The first time the code goes into the loop it will work, but when its the second pass inside the loop, I will always receive a TargetParameterCountException. I can't make any sense of this error. Any help is very much appreciated. EDIT Here are the Exception Details: Exception.Message = "Parameter count mismatch." • Filtering in a HierarchicalDataTemplate via MarkupExtension?

  I'm trying to create a MarkupExtension to allow filtering of items in an ItemsSource of a HierarchicalDataTemplate. In particular, I'd like to be able to supply a method name that will be executed on the DataContext in order to perform the filtering. I also see the call to the InternalConverter.Convert method, which sees the expected parameters (I see the collection provided by the nested {Binding}) and is successfully able to retrieve the ICollectionView for the incoming collection. The only problem is that FilterInternal never gets called. The template is ultimately being used by a TreeView, if that's relevant. I haven't been able to figure out why the FilterInternal method is not being called and I was hoping somebody might be able to offer some insight.

I am new to c# (since I am a Delphi developer) anyway I was able to create a simple CLR stored procedures by following a tutorial. My task is to move a file from the client file system to the server file system (the server can be accessed using remote IP, so I cannot use a shared folder as destination, this is why I need a CLR stored procedure). So I plan to: 1) store from Delphi the file in a varbinary(max) column of a temporary table 2) call the CLR stored procedure to create a file at the desired path using the data contained in the varbinary(max) field Imagine I need to move C:\MyFile.pdf to Z:\MyFile.pdf, where C: is a harddrive on local system and Z: is an harddrive on the server. I provide the code below (not working) that someone can modify to make it work? Here I suppose to have a table called MyTable with two fields: ID (int) and DATA (varbinary(max)). Please note it doesn't make a difference if the table is a real temporary table or just a table where I temporarly store the data. I would appreciate if some exception handling code is there (so that I can manage an "impossible to save file" exception). I would like to be able to write a new file or overwrite the file if already existing. • Entity Framework won't SaveChanges on new entity with two-level relationship

  I'm building an ASP.NET MVC site using the ADO.NET Entity Framework. I have an entity model that includes these entities, associated by foreign keys: Report(ID, Date, Heading, Report_Type_ID, etc.) SubReport(ID, ReportText, etc.) - one-to-one relationship with Report. ReportSource(ID, Name, Description) - one-to-many relationship with Sub_Report. ReportSourceType(ID, Name, Description) - one-to-many relationship with ReportSource. Contact (ID, Name, Address, etc.) - one-to-one relationship with Report_Source. There is a Create.aspx page for each type of SubReport. The post event method returns a new Sub_Report entity. Before, in my post method, I followed this process: Set the properties for a new Report entity from the page's fields. Set the SubReport entity's specific properties from the page's fields. Set the SubReport entity's Report to the new Report entity created in 1. Given an ID provided by the page, look up the ReportSource and set the Sub_Report entity's ReportSource to the found entity. SaveChanges. This workflow succeeded just fine for a couple of weeks. Then last week something changed and it doesn't work any more. Now instead of the save operation, I get this Exception: UpdateException: "Entities in 'DIR2_5Entities.ReportSourceSet' participate in the 'FK_ReportSources_ReportSourceTypes' relationship. 0 related 'ReportSourceTypes' were found. 1 'Report_Source_Types' is expected." The debug visualizer shows the following: The SubReport's ReportSource is set and loaded, and all of its properties are correct. The Report_Source has a valid ReportSourceType entity attached. In SQL Profiler the prepared SQL statement looks OK. Can anybody point me to what obvious thing I'm missing? TIA Notes: The Report and SubReport are always new entities in this case. The Report entity contains properties common to many types of reports and is used for generic queries. SubReports are specific reports with extra parameters varying by type. There is actually a different entity set for each type of SubReport, but this question applies to all of them, so I use SubReport as a simplified example.

• WebClient error when using a thread in .NET 4

  I'm having a very weird error using the WebClient class in .NET 4. The app simply downloads some files off the internet and provides output on a textbox (the GUI is WPF). The method that does this is the following: void DownloadFiles(object files) { fileL = (List<string>) files; foreach (string url in fileL) { byte[] data; using (System.Net.WebClient k = new WebClient()) { data = k.DownloadData(url); } //Bunch of irrelevant code goes here... } } (I added the using while trying to divine [yes I'm that desperate/ignorant] a solution, the problem happens even if the webclient is declared and initialized outside the foreach loop) Now the problem appears only when I'm executing this method on a thread separate from the WPF UI main thread. If it is executed on the UI thread then it works perfectly. When a new thread is created with: Thread t = new Thread(DownloadFiles); t.Start(files); The first time the code goes into the loop it will work, but when its the second pass inside the loop, I will always receive a TargetParameterCountException. • When constructing a Bitmap with Bitmap.FromHbitmap(), how soon can the original bitmap handle be del

  From the documentation of Image.FromHbitmap() at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/k061we7x%28VS.80%29.aspx : The FromHbitmap method makes a copy of the GDI bitmap; so you can release the incoming GDI bitmap using the GDIDeleteObject method immediately after creating the new Image. This pretty explicitly states that the bitmap handle can be immediately deleted with DeleteObject as soon as the Bitmap instance is created. Looking at the implementation of Image.FromHbitmap() with Reflector, however, shows that it is a pretty thin wrapper around the GDI+ function, GdipCreateBitmapFromHBITMAP(). There is pretty scant documentation on the GDI+ flat functions, but http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms533971%28VS.85%29.aspx says that GdipCreateBitmapFromHBITMAP() corresponds to the Bitmap::Bitmap() constructor that takes an HBITMAP and an HPALETTE as parameters. The documentation for this version of the Bitmap::Bitmap() constructor at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms536314%28VS.85%29.aspx has this to say: You are responsible for deleting the GDI bitmap and the GDI palette. However, you should not delete the GDI bitmap or the GDI palette until after the GDI+ Bitmap::Bitmap object is deleted or goes out of scope. Do not pass to the GDI+ Bitmap::Bitmap constructor a GDI bitmap or a GDI palette that is currently (or was previously) selected into a device context. Furthermore, one can see the source code for the C++ portion of GDI+ in GdiPlusBitmap.h that the Bitmap::Bitmap() constructor in question is itself a wrapper for the GdipCreateBitmapFromHBITMAP() function from the flat API: inline Bitmap::Bitmap( IN HBITMAP hbm, IN HPALETTE hpal ) { GpBitmap *bitmap = NULL; lastResult = DllExports::GdipCreateBitmapFromHBITMAP(hbm, hpal, &bitmap); SetNativeImage(bitmap); } What I can't easily see is the implementation of GdipCreateBitmapFromHBITMAP() that is the core of this functionality, but the two remarks in the documentation seem to be contradictory. The .Net documentation says I can delete the bitmap handle immediately, and the GDI+ documentation says the bitmap handle must be kept until the wrapping object is deleted, but both are based on the same GDI+ function. Furthermore, the GDI+ documentation warns against using a source HBITMAP that is currently or previously selected into a device context. While I can understand why the bitmap should not be selected into a device context currently, I do not understand why there is a warning against using a bitmap that was previously selected into a device context. That would seem to prevent use of GDI+ bitmaps that had been created in memory using standard GDI. So, in summary: Does the original bitmap handle need to be kept around until the .Net Bitmap object is disposed? Does the GDI+ function, GdipCreateBitmapFromHBITMAP(), make a copy of the source bitmap or merely hold onto the handle to the original? Why should I not use an HBITMAP that was previously selected into a device context?
