  • Implementing Java Priority Queue

    - by Kay
    public class PriorityQueue<T> { private PriorityNode<T> head, tail; private int numItems; public PriorityQueue(){ numItems = 0; head=null; tail=null; } public void add(int priority, T value){ PriorityNode<T> newNode = new PriorityNode<T>(priority,value); if(numItems == 0){ head = newNode; tail = newNode; } else{ head.setNext(newNode); head = newNode; } } } Where PriorityNode is defined as: public class PriorityNode<T> implements Comparable<T> { private T value; private PriorityNode<T> next; private int priority; public PriorityNode(int priority,T newValue){ value = newValue; next = null; priority = 0; } public PriorityNode(T newValue){ value = newValue; next = null; priority = 0; } public void setPriority(int priority){ this.priority = priority; } public int getPriority(){ return this.priority; } public T getValue(){ return value; } public PriorityNode<T> getNext(){ return next; } public void setNext(PriorityNode<T> nextNode){ this.next = nextNode; } public void setValue(T newValue){ value = newValue; } public int compareTo(int pri) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub if(this.priority<pri){ return -1; } else if(this.priority == pri){ return 0; } else{ return 1; } } } I'm having a lot of difficulty using the Comparator here and implementing a priority queue - please point me in the right direction.

  • How to use a int2 database-field as a boolean in Java using JPA/Hibernate

    - by mg
Hello... I write an application based on an already existing database (postgreSQL) using JPA and Hibernate. There is a int2-column (activeYN) in a table, which is used as a boolean (0 = false (inactive), not 0 = true (active)). In the Java application i want to use this attribute as a boolean. So i defined the attribute like this: @Entity public class ModelClass implements Serializable { /*..... some Code .... */ private boolean active; @Column(name="activeYN") public boolean isActive() { return this.active; } /* .... some other Code ... */ } But there ist an exception because Hibernate expects an boolean database-field and not an int2. Can i do this mapping i any way while using a boolean in java?? I have a possible solution for this, but i don't really like it: My "hacky"-solution is the following: @Entity public class ModelClass implements Serializable { /*..... some Code .... */ private short active_USED_BY_JPA; //short because i need int2 /** * @Deprecated this method is only used by JPA. Use the method isActive() */ @Column(name="activeYN") public short getActive_USED_BY_JPA() { return this.active_USED_BY_JPA; } /** * @Deprecated this method is only used by JPA. * Use the method setActive(boolean active) */ public void setActive_USED_BY_JPA(short active) { this.active_USED_BY_JPA = active; } @Transient //jpa will ignore transient marked methods public boolean isActive() { return getActive_USED_BY_JPA() != 0; } @Transient public void setActive(boolean active) { this.setActive_USED_BY_JPA = active ? -1 : 0; } /* .... some other Code ... */ } Are there any other solutions for this problem? The "hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto"-value in the hibernate configuration is set to "validate". (sorry, my english is not the best, i hope you understand it anyway)..

  • First run notepad with my.cfg and only then start the service

    - by Viv Coco
Hi all, I install along with my application: 1) a service that starts and stops my application as needed 2) a conf file that contains actually the user data and that will be shown to the user to modify as needed (I give the user the chance to change it by running notepad.exe with my conf file during installing) The problem is that in my code the service I install starts before the user had the chance to modify the conf file. What I would like is: 1) first the user gets the chance to change the conf file (run notepad.exe with the conf file) 2) only afterward start the service <Component Id="MyService.exe" Guid="GUID"> <File Id="MyService.exe" Source="MyService.exe" Name="MyService.exe" KeyPath="yes" Checksum="yes" /> <ServiceInstall Id='ServiceInstall' DisplayName='MyService' Name='MyService' ErrorControl='normal' Start='auto' Type='ownProcess' Vital='yes'/> <ServiceControl Id='ServiceControl' Name='MyService' Start='install' Stop='both' Remove='uninstall'/> </Component> <Component Id="my.conf" Guid="" NeverOverwrite="yes"> <File Id="my.cfg" Source="my.cfg_template" Name="my.cfg" KeyPath="yes" /> </Component> [...] <Property Id="NOTEPAD">Notepad.exe</Property> <CustomAction Id="LaunchConfFile" Property="NOTEPAD" ExeCommand="[INSTALLDIR]my.cfg" Return="ignore" Impersonate="no" Execute="deferred"/> <!--Run only on installs--> <InstallExecuteSequence> <Custom Action='LaunchConfFile' Before='InstallFinalize'>(NOT Installed) AND (NOT UPGRADINGPRODUCTCODE)</Custom> </InstallExecuteSequence> What am I doing wrong in the above code and how could I change it in order to achieve what I need? (first run notepad with my conf file and then start the service). TIA, Viv

  • Dealing with Imprecise Drawing in CAD Drawing

    - by Graviton
I have a CAD application, that allows user to draw lines and polygons and all that. One thorny problem that I face is user drawing can be highly imprecise, for example, a user might want to draw two rectangles that are connected to each other. Hence there should be one line shared by two rectangles. However, it's easy for user to, instead of draw a line, draw two lines that are very close to each other, so close to each other that when look from the screen, you would be mistaken that they are the same line, except that they aren't when you zoom in a little bit. My application would require user to properly draw the lines ( or my preprocessing must be able to do auto correction), or else my internal algorithm would not be able to process the inputs correctly. What is the best strategy to combat this kind of problem? I am thinking about rounding the point coordinates to a certain degree of precision, but although I can't exactly pinpoint the problem of this approach, but I feel that this is not the correct way of doing things, that this will introduce a new set of problem. Any idea?

  • Modify jkpanel to load internal content instead of external content

    - by Adam Stone
I am using an implementation of jkpanel in a vb.net app, the script (see below) loads an external file into the drop down panel. I need to modify this script to load an internal content like a specific div or span so that I can have this nested within the master page. //Drop Down Panel script (March 29th, 08'): By JavaScript Kit: http://www.javascriptkit.com var jkpanel={ controltext: 'Panel Content', $mainpanel: null, contentdivheight: 0, openclose:function($, speed){ this.$mainpanel.stop() //stop any animation if (this.$mainpanel.attr('openstate')=='closed') this.$mainpanel.animate({top: 0}, speed).attr({openstate: 'open'}) else this.$mainpanel.animate({top: -this.contentdivheight+'px'}, speed).attr({openstate: 'closed'}) }, init:function(file, height, speed){ jQuery(document).ready(function($){ jkpanel.$mainpanel=$('<div id="dropdownpanel"><div class="contentdiv"></div><div class="control">'+jkpanel.controltext+'</div></div>').prependTo('body') var $contentdiv=jkpanel.$mainpanel.find('.contentdiv') var $controldiv=jkpanel.$mainpanel.find('.control').css({cursor: 'wait'}) $contentdiv.load(file, '', function($){ var heightattr=isNaN(parseInt(height))? 'auto' : parseInt(height)+'px' $contentdiv.css({height: heightattr}) jkpanel.contentdivheight=parseInt($contentdiv.get(0).offsetHeight) jkpanel.$mainpanel.css({top:-jkpanel.contentdivheight+'px', visibility:'visible'}).attr('openstate', 'closed') $controldiv.css({cursor:'hand', cursor:'pointer'}) }) jkpanel.$mainpanel.click(function(){jkpanel.openclose($, speed)}) }) } } //Initialize script: jkpanel.init('path_to_content_file', 'height of content DIV in px', animation_duration) jkpanel.init('panelcontent.htm', '200px', 500) Does anybody have any idea on how to modify this to do so or even have any tips or pointers to point me in the right direction to start doing so. Cheers

Somehow there's an offset. This doesn't seem to be a problem if the mainWindow is a QtGui.QMainWindow instead of a QtGui.QDialog.

  • Absolutely positioned div on right causing scrollbar when the left doesn't

    I'm trying to "flank" a centered div with some design elements that are absolutely positioned outside the main div's width. I'm getting a scroll bar due to the element on the right, but not the element on the left (IE6/7/8, Chrome, Firefox). How can I get rid of that horizontal scrollbar? <html> <head> <style type="text/css"> html, body { height: 100%; width: 100%; margin: 0; } body { text-align: center; } .wrapper { margin: 0 auto; position: relative; width: 960px; z-index: 0; } .main { background: #900; height: 700px; } .right, .left { position: absolute; height: 100px; width: 100px; } .right { background: #090; top: 0px; left: 960px; z-index: 1; } .left { background: #009; top: 0px; left: -100px; z-index: 1; } </style> </head> <body> <div class="wrapper"> <div class="main"></div> <div class="left"></div> <div class="right"></div> </div> </body> </html>

  • Jekyll - How to approach asset processing (minification, spriting...)

    - by Gromix
I recently switched to Jekyll and I find the conversion pipeline works really well. However I'm stuck on which approach to take when the process is many inputs to one output (ex: concatenating CSS files, creating image sprites...) I know several tools that can do it, that can be called either from the command line or in Ruby code directly. For ex: Jammit css sprites Compass sprites My current solution is a few Jekyll plugins that call these tools. However, it has the following problems: 1. SASS files should be processed, then concatenated/minified SASS-CSS is a Converter, and the concatenation is a Generator run on the output. Unfortunately generators are run first, which means the concatenation is always a step behind (I have to run the build twice) 2. Jekyll does not know about the source/output relationship With converters, when I run Jekyll in server mode, if I change a SASS file it automatically runs the conversion to CSS. When dealing with concatenation/spriting, I haven't found a way to do the same. I end up having to run a "normal" Jekyll build (not server auto) to update the concatenated files and sprites. Thanks for any ideas!

  • How do I specify Open ID Realm in spring security ?

    - by Salvin Francis
We are using Spring security in our application with support for username / password based authentication as well as Open id based authentication. The issue is that google gives a different open id for the return url specified and we have at least 2 different entry points in our application from where open id is configured into our system. Hence we decided to use open id realm. http://blog.stackoverflow.com/2009/0...ue-per-domain/ http://groups.google.com/group/googl...unts-api?pli=1 how is it possible to integrate realm into our spring configuration/code ? This is how we are doing it in traditional openid library code: AuthRequest authReq = consumerManager.authenticate(discovered, someReturnToUrl,"http://www.example.com"); This works and gives same open id for different urls from our site. our configuration: Code: ... <http auto-config="false"> <!-- <intercept-url> tags are here --> <remember-me user-service-ref="someRememberedService" key="some key" /> <form-login login-page="/Login.html" authentication-failure-url="/Login.html?error=true" always-use-default-target="false" default-target-url="/MainPage.html"/> <openid-login authentication-failure-url="/Login.html?error=true" always-use-default-target="true" default-target-url="/MainPage.html" user-service-ref="someOpenIdUserService"/> </http> ... <beans:bean id="someOpenIdUserService" class="com.something.MyOpenIDUserDetailsService"> </beans:bean> <beans:bean id="openIdAuthenticationProvider" class="com.something.MyOpenIDAuthenticationProvider"> <custom-authentication-provider /> <beans:property name="userDetailsService" ref="someOpenIdUserService"/> </beans:bean> ...

  • Problem storing a hash in DB using Storable::nfreeze in Perl

    - by Sam
I want to insert a hash in the db using Storable::nfreeze but the data is not inserted properly. My code is as follows: %rec=(); $rec{'name'} = 'my name'; $rec{'address'} = 'my address'; my $order1 = new Order(); $order1->set_session(\%rec); $self->createOrder($order1); sub createOrder { my $self = $_[0]; my $order = $_[1]; # Retrieve the fields to insert into the database. my $st = $dbh->prepare("insert into order (session,.......) values(?,........)"); my $session = %{$order->get_session()}; $st->execute(&Storable::nfreeze(\%session),.....); $st->finish(); } sub getOrder { ... my $session = &Storable::thaw( $ref->{'session'} ); ..... } The thaw is working fine because I tested it withe some rows that have been inserted correctly, but when I try to get a row that was inserted using the createOrder subroutine, I get an error saying: Storable binary image v36.65 more recent than I am (v2.7) at blib/lib/Storable.pm (autosplit into blib/lib/auto/Storable/thaw.al) line 415 The error comes from the line that have thaw. The nfreeze did not store the hash properly. Can someone point me to what I'm doing wrong in the createOrder subroutine? I know the module version have nothing to do with the problem.

  • How do I populate these fields from existing data?

    - by dmanexe
I'm not sure how to make a few parts of my form to populate from data from an array I'm passing from the database. First is this <select> object. The key estimate_lead_id in the database holds the value, and I want the dropdown to auto-select based on the value from the database. <select name="estimate_lead_id"> <? foreach($leads->result() as $lead) { ?> <option value="<?=$lead->id?>"><?=$lead->lead_name?></option> <? } ?> </select> Second (this is a little more complex), I have created a script that loops through and gets all of the items from each respective category. What I can't get it to do though is loop through these items and only display the items in the estimate, and then fill the fields with the respective values from the database. <?php foreach ($items['items_poolconcretedecking']->result() as $item) { ?> <input type="checkbox" name="measure[<?=$item->id?>][checkmark]" value="<?=$item->id?>"> <input class="item_mult" value="" type="text" name="measure[<?=$item->id?>][quantity]" /> <?php } ?>

  • RegularExpression-esque search matching Objects in List

    - by Pindatjuh
I'm currently working on an implementation of the following idea, and I was wondering if there is any literature on this subject. Working with Java, but the principle applies on any language with a decent type-system, I like to implement: matching Objects from a List using a RegularExpression-esque search: So let's say I have a List containing List<Object> x = new ArrayList<Object>(); x.add(new Object()); x.add("Hello World"); x.add("Second String"); x.add(5); // Integer (auto-boxing) x.add(6); // Integer Then I create a "Regular Expression" (not working with a stream of characters, but working with a stream of Objects), and instead of character-classes, I use type-system properties: [String][Integer] And this would match one sublist: {Match["Second String", 5]}. The expression: [String:length()<15] Will match two sublist (each of length 1) containing a String which instance is passing the expression instance.length() < 5: {Match["Hello World"],Match["Second String"]}. [Object][Object] Matches any pair in the List: {Match[Object,"Hello World"],Match["Second String", 5]}, in a streamed manner (no overlapping matches). Ofcourse, my implementation will have grouping, lookahead/lookbehinds and is hierarchical (i.e. matching n elements from Lists in Lists), etc. The above merely illustrates the concept. Is there a name for this principle, and is there literature available on it?

  • App will not launch from drawer after phone is removed from car dock

    - by BigFwoosh
I am creating a replacement Car Home app for Android 2.0+ devices. The app needs to launch when the phone is inserted into the car dock, as well as terminate when it is removed from the dock. It also needs to be able to be launched from the app drawer. I'm having a problem right now where once the phone is inserted and removed from the dock, I can no longer launch the app from the app drawer because every time I launch the app my BroadcastReceiver picks up a DOCK_EVENT action for some reason. I created a test project that only registers my BroadcastReceiver, and the same thing happens. Here's the code for the BroadcastReceiver: public class CarDockBroadcastReceiver extends BroadcastReceiver { /** * @see android.content.BroadcastReceiver#onReceive(Context,Intent) */ @Override public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) { // TODO Put your code here if(intent.getExtras().containsKey("android.intent.extra.DOCK_STATE")){ int state = intent.getExtras().getInt("android.intent.extra.DOCK_STATE",1); if(state == 0){ Log.i("Dock", "Removed from dock!"); ((Activity)context).finish(); } } } } My main Activity is as follows: public class MainActivity extends Activity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ CarDockBroadcastReceiver receiver; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); IntentFilter filter = new IntentFilter("android.intent.action.DOCK_EVENT"); receiver = new CarDockBroadcastReceiver(); registerReceiver(receiver, filter); } @Override protected void onDestroy() { // TODO Auto-generated method stub unregisterReceiver(receiver); super.onDestroy(); } } The main Activity has an intent filter for action.MAIN, category.LAUNCHER, category.DEFAULT, and category.CAR_DOCK. Any ideas on why this is happening?

  • Issues Deploying ROOT Context in Tomcat6

    - by Josh K
I'm working on getting an application deployed to the ROOT ("/") context in my Tomcat 6 instance. Here's what has been done: Defined another virtual host (domain.com) Created the respective folder (/etc/tomcat6/Catalina/domain.com) Set it to auto deploy WAR's Set appBase to CATALINA_BASE/domainapps and created respective folder Copied manager.xml from localhost to domain.com. Now I'm trying to deploy into the ROOT context by uploading a ROOT.war to CATALINA_BASE/domainapps. This isn't working. I don't get any exceptions thrown, but the stock ROOT page ("It works !") stays up. I have successfully deployed it into another context (by uploading domainapp.war and viewing at /domainapp), but not ROOT. Re-reading the Virtual Host setup it makes reference to CATALINA_HOME and CATALINA_BASE. My CATALINA_HOME is at /usr/share/tomcat6/domainapp while CATALINA_BASE is /var/lib/tomcat6. Which should I be using for what? Currently haven't touched CATALINA_HOME but will try messing with a few things there. A better question might be what is the generally accepted flow taken to setup a new Tomcat instance and deploy an application to the root context.

  • If the address of a function can not be resolved during deduction, is it SFINAE or a compiler error?

    - by Faisal Vali
In C++0x SFINAE rules have been simplified such that any invalid expression or type that occurs in the "immediate context" of deduction does not result in a compiler error but rather in deduction failure (SFINAE). My question is this: If I take the address of an overloaded function and it can not be resolved, is that failure in the immediate-context of deduction? (i.e is it a hard error or SFINAE if it can not be resolved)? Here is some sample code: struct X { // template T* foo(T,T); // lets not over-complicate things for now void foo(char); void foo(int); }; template struct S { template struct size_map { typedef int type; }; // here is where we take the address of a possibly overloaded function template void f(T, typename size_map::type* = 0); void f(...); }; int main() { S s; // should this cause a compiler error because 'auto T = &X::foo' is invalid? s.f(3); } Gcc 4.5 states that this is a compiler error, and clang spits out an assertion violation. Here are some more related questions of interest: Does the FCD-C++0x clearly specify what should happen here? Are the compilers wrong in rejecting this code? Does the "immediate-context" of deduction need to be defined a little better? Thanks!

  • The best way to build iPhone/iPad static libraries?

    - by Derek Clarkson
Hi everyone, I have a couple of static Phone/iPad libraries I an working on. The problem I am looking for advise on is the best way to package the libraries. My objective is to make it easy to use the libraries in other projects and include the correct one in a build with minimal problems. To make it more interesting I currently build 4 versions of each library as follows armv6/armv7 release (devices) i386 release (simulator) armv6/armv7 debug (devices) i386 debug (simulator) The difference between the release and debug versions is that the debug versions contain a lot of NSLog(...) code which enables people to see whats going on internally as an aid to debugging. Currently when I build the whole projects I arrange the libraries into two directories like this: release lib-device.a lib-simulator.a debug lib-device.a lib-simulator.a This works ok except that when include in projects, both paths are added to the library search path and switching a target from one to the other is a pain. Or alternatively I end up with two targets. The alternative I am thinking of is to change the directories like this: release device lib.a simulator lib.a debug device lib.a simulator lib.a In playing with XCode is appears that all xcode uses the lbrary references of a project for is to get the name of the library file, which it then looks up in the library paths. Thus by parameterising the library path with the current built type and target device, I can effectively auto switch. What do you guys think? Is there a better way to do this? ciao Derek

  • standard way to perform a clean shutdown with Boost.Asio

    - by Timothy003
    I'm writing a cross-platform server program in C++ using Boost.Asio. Following the HTTP Server example on this page, I'd like to handle a user termination request without using implementation-specific APIs. I've initially attempted to use the standard C signal library, but have been unable to find a design pattern suitable for Asio. The Windows example's design seems to resemble the signal library closest, but there's a race condition where the console ctrl handler could be called after the server object has been destroyed. I'm trying to avoid race conditions that cause undefined behavior as specified by the C++ standard. Is there a standard (correct) way to stop the server? So far: #include <csignal> #include <functional> #include <boost/asio.hpp> using std::signal; using boost::asio::io_service; extern "C" { static void handle_signal(int); } namespace { std::function<void ()> sighandler; } void handle_signal(int) { sighandler(); } int main() { io_service s; sighandler = std::bind(&io_service::stop, &s); auto res = signal(SIGINT, &handle_signal); // race condition? SIGINT raised before I could set ignore back if (res == SIG_IGN) signal(SIGINT, SIG_IGN); res = signal(SIGTERM, &handle_signal); // race condition? SIGTERM raised before I could set ignore back if (res == SIG_IGN) signal(SIGTERM, SIG_IGN); s.run(); // reset signals signal(SIGTERM, SIG_DFL); signal(SIGINT, SIG_DFL); // is it defined whether handle_signal can still be in execution at this // point? sighandler = nullptr; }

Then I press TAB and it works fine. (So there is something wrong with my sending of the Tab Message.)

  • Closing Connections on asynchronous messaging in JMS

    - by The Elite Gentleman
Hi Everyone! I have created a JMS wrapper (similar to Springs JmsTemplate since I'm not using Springs) and I was wondering: If I setup asynchronous messaging, when is a good time to close connections and JMS relates resources (so that the Connection Factory in the Resource Pool can be available)? Thanks Here's the source code for receiving JMS messages public Message receive() throws JMSException { QueueConnection connection = null; QueueSession session = null; QueueReceiver consumer = null; try { // TODO Auto-generated method stub connection = factory.createQueueConnection(); if (connection != null && getExceptionListener() != null) { connection.setExceptionListener(getExceptionListener()); } session = connection.createQueueSession(isSessionTransacted(), getAcknowledgeMode()); consumer = session.createReceiver(queue); if (getMessageListener() != null) { consumer.setMessageListener(getMessageListener()); } //Begin connection.start(); if (getMessageListener() == null) { return null; } return receive(session, consumer); } catch (JMSException e) { // TODO: handle exception logger.error(e.getLocalizedMessage(), e); throw e; } finally { JMSUtil.closeMessageConsumer(consumer); JMSUtil.closeSession(session, false); //false = don't commit. JMSUtil.closeConnection(connection, true); //true = stop before close. } As you can see, if getMessageListener() != null then apply it to the MessageConsumer. Am I doing this correctly? The same approach has also been taken for JMS Topic.

  • Setting objects (not users) inactive after period of time in asp.net mvc

    - by bastijn
This question is mainly to verify my current idea. I have a series of objects which I want to be active for a specified amount of time. For instance objects like ads which are shown in the ad space only for the amount of time bought, objects in search results which should only pop up when active, and frontpage posts which should be set to inactive after a prespecified time. My current idea is to just give those type of objects a StartDate and EndDate and filter the search routines to only show results which fall in the range StartDate < currentDate < EndDate. Is this the normal structure or should there be some sort of auto-routine which routinely checks for objects which are "over-time" and set a property "inactive" to true or something. Seems like this approach is such a hassle since I need a checker which runs say, every 5 minutes, to scan all DB objects. Seems like a bad idea to me. So is the first structure the most commonly used or are there any other options? When searching on google or SO the search queries only return results setting users inactive.

  • Oracle why does creating trigger fail when there is a field called timestamp?

    - by Omar Kooheji
I've just wasted the past two hours of my life trying to create a table with an auto incrementing primary key bases on this tutorial, The tutorial is great the issue I've been encountering is that the Create Target fails if I have a column which is a timestamp and a table that is called timestamp in the same table... Why doesn't oracle flag this as being an issue when I create the table? Here is the Sequence of commands I enter: Creating the Table: CREATE TABLE myTable (id NUMBER PRIMARY KEY, field1 TIMESTAMP(6), timeStamp NUMBER, ); Creating the Sequence: CREATE SEQUENCE test_sequence START WITH 1 INCREMENT BY 1; Creating the trigger: CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER test_trigger BEFORE INSERT ON myTable REFERENCING NEW AS NEW FOR EACH ROW BEGIN SELECT test_sequence.nextval INTO :NEW.ID FROM dual; END; / Here is the error message I get: ORA-06552: PL/SQL: Compilation unit analysis terminated ORA-06553: PLS-320: the declaration of the type of this expression is incomplete or malformed Any combination that does not have the two lines with a the word "timestamp" in them works fine. I would have thought the syntax would be enough to differentiate between the keyword and a column name. As I've said I don't understand why the table is created fine but oracle falls over when I try to create the trigger... CLARIFICATION I know that the issue is that there is a column called timestamp which may or may not be a keyword. MY issue is why it barfed when I tried to create a trigger and not when I created the table, I would have at least expected a warning. That said having used Oracle for a few hours, it seems a lot less verbose in it's error reporting, Maybe just because I'm using the express version though. If this is a bug in Oracle how would one who doesn't have a support contract go about reporting it? I'm just playing around with the express version because I have to migrate some code from MySQL to Oracle.
