• Is there a generally cross-browser way to use JavaScript to make a div scroll all the way down?

  It looks like this: var objDiv = document.getElementById("code"); objDiv.scrollTop = objDiv.clientHeight; works in Chrome, but not FF, and this: var objDiv = document.getElementById("code"); objDiv.scrollTop = objDiv.scrollHeight; works in FF, but not Chrome. Is there a better all around way to do this?

• IIS: 404 error on every file in a virtual directory.

  I am trying to write my first WCF service for IIS 6.0. I followed the instructions on MSDN. I created the virtual directory, I can browse the directory fine but anything I click (even a sub-folder in that folder) gives me a 404 error. What am I missing that I can not access any files or folders? Any logs or whatnot you need just tell me where to find them in the comments and I will post them. Use the IIS Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in to enable the appropriate Web extension. Default Web Extensions include: ASP, ASP.net, Server-Side Includes, WebDAV publishing, FrontPage Server Extensions, Common Gateway Interface (CGI). Custom extensions must be added and explicitly enabled. See the IIS 6.0 Help File for more information. I am guessing the 404 0 2 at the end of the log is a 404.2 error. I now know the why, I still don't know the how on how to fix it.

• Convert Custom Firefox Setup to Firefox Portable?

  I have a pretty awesome firefox set up and spent a lot of time getting it perfect. Is there any way that anyone knows about to convert the entire configuration to portable? Programs like MozBackup are great for backing up the complete set up, but you can't restore a Firefox profile to Firefox portable (maybe there is a workaround to fake it out? or possibly another method?) In case anyone is interested here is the gist of the best add-ons I've found: Autopager (scroll down google and other multi page results without clicking next) Coral IE Tab (IE in firefox - in case a website 'insists' that you use IE) Cyber search (search google straight from the address bar - VERY HELPFUL) Download StatusBar (display progress of downloads in the bottom of ff - no annoying popups FireFTP (erases need for an external FTP client - opens in a tab) Gmail manager (if you use multiple gmail accounts) Session Manager (saving multiple sessions of tabs - ff session recover) Surf Canyon (pull relevant stuff out of the depths of search results - even from craigslist Tab Mix Plus (ESSENTIAL - tab behavior customization - have multiple rows of tabs I also have it set up so you can type 'g test' in the address bar and ff will pull up the google results for 'test'. Similarly have it set up for guitar tabs (tab), facebook (f), wikipedia (w), google maps from my house (gmhome), torrents (tor), ticketmaster (t), rotten tomatoes (rt), craiglist (c) plus about 20 other sites.

• Whys is System process listening on Port 80?

  I am running Windows 7 RC1. I have multiple issues getting IIS to work on my system and today when I installed a new application and I tried to load it using http:\localhost\MyApplication I get absolutely no errors and I get no page load. Just a pretty, white blank page. I did some digging and I found something about some other process listening on port 80 so I did a scan using netstat -aon | findstr 0.0:80 and discovered that PID 4 was listening on that port. PID 4 does not show in task manager so I fired up Process Explorer and it showed me that PID 4 is the System process. (Multiple google searches seems to indicate that System always uses PID 4). Since then I am basically stuck. I have no idea why System needs port 80 and what to do about it. If you google the following strings you will find two helpful Experts-Exchange articles at the top of the search results and you can read them for some helpful information. (If I gave the direct URL to the pages then Experts-Exchange would ask you to pay...but when you click on the results from a google search you can scroll all of the way to the bottom to read the exchanges.) Here are the google searches... "System Process is listening on port 80 (Vista)" "SYSTEM Process is listening on Port 80 and Preventing IIS Default Website from Running" The last entry from the first result showed how to do a trace of http.sys at the following URL: http://blogs.msdn.com/wndp/archive/2007/01/18/event-tracing-in-http-sys-part-1-capturing-a-trace.aspx Trace showed nothing useful. Any thoughts?

• SPF hardfail and DKIM failure when recipient has e-mail forwarding

  I configured hardfail SPF for my domain and DKIM message signing on my SMTP server. Since this is the only SMTP server that should be used for outgoing mail from my domain, I didn't foresee any complications. However, consider the following situation: I sent an e-mail message via my SMTP server to my colleague's university e-mail. The problem is that my colleague forwards his university e-mail to his GMail account. These are the headers of the message after it reaches his GMail mailbox: Received-SPF: fail (google.com: domain of [email protected] does not designate 192.168.128.100 as permitted sender) client-ip=192.168.128.100; Authentication-Results: mx.google.com; spf=hardfail (google.com: domain of [email protected] does not designate 192.168.128.100 as permitted sender) [email protected]; dkim=hardfail (test mode) [email protected] (Headers have been sanitized to protect the domains and IP addresses of the non-Google parties) GMail checks the last SMTP server in the delivery chain against my SPF and DKIM records (rightfully so). Since the last STMP server in the delivery chain was the university's server and not my server, the check results in an SPF hardfail and DKIM failure. Fortunately, GMail did not mark the message as spam but I'm concerned that this might cause a problem in the future. Is my implementation of SPF hardfail perhaps too strict? Any other recommendations or potential issues that I should be aware of? Or maybe there is a more ideal configuration for the university's e-mail forwarding procedure? I know that the forwarding server could possibly change the envelope sender but I see that getting messy.

• Firefox extension to dinamically change superbar icon, similar to windows live messenger.

  With seven's new superbar, windows live messenger is now able to display your status on the bar's icon (and not on the system tray). So that got me thinking, maybe a firefox extension could do something similar. Therefore, here's my question to those who understand the workings and spinning wheels behind firefox extensions: could a firefox extension change the superbar icon to display some useful info? Does the current functionality support it? EDIT: I think my question is not really clear. I just want to know if it's theoritically possible for a firefox addon to change the superbar icon dinamically. For instance, windows live messenger changes the icon acording to your status, and gmail notifier plus changes the icon according to your unread messages count. I'm just wondering if firefox as it is right now supports an extension with that functionality. I know that no current extensions do it, and I'm not looking for a gmail notifier (that was just an example). thanks

I tried to reinstall and reconfigure exim but I keep having all the incoming emails rejected. Outlook says: A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients.   Hi, I'd like to simplify the URL's to access a Glassfish V3 application by removing file extensions and otherwise shortening URL's. I've already set my application as the default application, so that there is no need to include the context root in the URL. I'd like to: * Remove file extensions * Shorten the URL to files deep in the folder structure I'd like to do this using pattern matching rather than on a per file basis (Site is small at the moment but will change frequently and grow).   Before you point me to Google or serverfault search I want to tell you that I've searched a lot, did some "fixes". They didn't help. I have ISPConfig 3 installed on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Server The server has several domains and lets call the main domain: example.com. I have also demo.com I have several emails on each domain. The status of the email sent between the emails: [email protected] - [email protected] (Success) [email protected] - [email protected] (Failure) The failure is with error: postfix/pipe[31311]: 8E72ED058D: to=<[email protected]>, relay=dovecot, delay=0.1, delays=0.03/0/0/0.07, dsn=5.1.1, status=bounced (user unknown) I saw the fix for removing the example.com from: mydestination = localhost, localhost.localdomain in /etc/postfix/main.cf It didn't help. Also an important thing is that the example.com MX records are Google's. We are using Google Apps for this domain in order to use Gmail servers. I think the problem is that the mail server is not looking for the MX records of the domain. It knows the domain is set on this server and it searches for the destination email on the local server, not on Google's servers. For several days I'm really lost! Thanks for your help in advance!

• RRAS NAT not working on a certain computer

  This is driving me crazy. I have a virtualized W2K8 server running RRAS. Every other computer or server on the network can access the internet through the NAT except one. On one server, it just won't work. I can ping the ip address of the NAT gateway just fine, and everything else works. (SMB, etc) DNS, which is hosted by the same server, also works just fine. I have even reinstalled the OS on the problem server and it still doesn't work. Recap of the steps I tried: There are 3 network cards in the server, I tried every one and different switch ports. Not a hardware problem. Reinstalled W2K8 R2 on server with the problem, didn't help. Tried the IP of the internet gateway directly - this did work (!). But I need NAT to work. All firewalls are disabled. Removed computer from domain, deleted computer membership in Active Directory Users and Computers and added it back. Disabled all other network adapters and set a static ip and specified the gateway ip manually. When I tracert a public IP, the first hop (or any other hop) comes up as: C:\>tracert www.google.com Tracing route to www.l.google.com [209.85.225.106] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 * * * Request timed out. 2 * * * Request timed out. • How to set up dual quadro cards on RHEL 5.5?

  I have a RHEL 5 workstation with 2 nvidia Quadro FX4500 cards, with one display attached to each card. After doing a clean install of RHEL 5.5, the second display doesnt work (it worked ok in RHEL 5.2). Neither separate X screens nor Xinerama are working. The kernel version is 2.6.18-194.el5 I've tried nvidia drivers 185.18.36 (the ones that i was using on 5.2) and the latest 260.19.36 and neither works. • Unable to access stackexchange sites from this system

  Earlier, I was not able to access most of the stackexchange sites like stackoverflow, programmers.SE etc. on my home Windows XP system. I was able to access only a few like http://meta.stackexchange.com and not even http://www.meta.stackexchange.com (note the www). I tried many other sites like http://www.stackoverflow.com, http://area51.stackexchange.com/ but was getting page not found errors on all browsers. Even pinging from terminal was saying destination host unreachable. I did not check recently but may be all SE sites are unreachable now. I was clueless about what could be the issue. I thought some firewall issue? So, I stopped AVG antivirus's firewall, then completely uninstalled it and even turned of windows firewall. But still not reachable even after fresh installation of Windows 7. Then I noticed a "Too many requests" notice on google. This page - http://www.google.co.in/sorry/?continue=http://www.google.co.in/# I don't know why this appeared but I guess somehow too many requests might have been sent to these sites and they blocked me. But in that case, SE would be smart enough to show a captcha like google. So, how to confirm the problem and fix it.   Hi, Previously when I used IIS6, I used IIS6 Metabase Explorer to edit Metabase.xml and manually turned on compression, specified the compression level and the file extensions to compress. IIS7 seems a bit different, there is no Metabase.xml file in the system32\inetsrv folder. Enabling compression is easy to turn on by checking the checkbox in the Compression module. But how do I manually tweak and set the compression levels and file extensions to compress? I also ran across an article saying that IIS7 also automatically throttles the compression if your CPU load is 50% then compression is turned off. Where are all these settings located?

• Ubuntu, No wireless networks found after correctly installed madwifi

As far as I can see and according to System - Administration - Hardware drivers the install was successful and the card + driver is up and running. However, I don't see any wireless network (my windows PC can see about 5 wireless networks). I tried it with the network manager applet as well as with wicd. • How can I rewrite / redirect URL's in Glassfish V3?

  I'd like to simplify the URL's to access a Glassfish V3 application by removing file extensions and otherwise shortening URL's. I've already set my application as the default application, so that there is no need to include the context root in the URL. I'd like to: * Remove file extensions * Shorten the URL to files deep in the folder structure I'd like to do this using pattern matching rather than on a per file basis (Site is small at the moment but will change frequently and grow). Some examples of what I'd like to do: * foo.com/bar.html - foo.com/bar * foo.com/folder1/folder2/bar2.html - foo.com/bar2 Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Cheers, Jin

  We have a Terminal server and want to prevent users from running inappropriate software. Previously we used Software Restriction Policies for this purpose. Now, Microsoft seems to recommend Applocker instead. However we found no possibilities to add custom extensions like JAR, CPL, MSC etc. which was possible in Software Restriction Policies. Do you know how to add custom extensions to the Applocker policies in Windows 2008? Or how can we block custom script interpreters like Perl etc.?

• Linux Bridge, Samba netbios name/hostname access

  I am currently running a linux bridge in the following configuration ADSL Modem: 192.168.1.1 Linux Bridge: eth0: 192.168.1.2 eth1: no address Wireless Router: 192.168.0.1 My issue is that i cannot access the "Linux Bridge" shares using the WINS name of the server via client systems (yes i understand it is a transparent bridge but i can access it via the 192.168.1.2 address this is not on the same subnet as the client systems). • DNS stops working occasionally

  I have tried using Google DNS and the one provided with DHCP. At some point my PC (Windows 7) stops resolving domain names, but DNS server is perfectly pingable. What can be the reason? Thanks! Edit: It is really weird. It can stop and start working in few seconds. The problem is that DNA requests are timing out, and the problem is that the DNS server is pingable at the same time. I can't understand how this could be possible and what might be an issue. C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc>nslookup google.com DNS request timed out. timeout was 2 seconds. • I think installing PostFix solved my problem, but it seemed *too* easy

  Hi, This is a followup to a serverfault post I made a while ago: http://serverfault.com/questions/21633/how-do-i-target-a-different-mail-server-depending-on-domain-with-exim (More context here too: http://forum.slicehost.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=3806 ) I have a slice/VPS at Slicehost. I basically decided to scrap exim (i.e., purge it), and start anew with my email infrastructure. In case you didn't read any of the above threads, basically my goal was to have a send only mail infrastructure that relays all outgoing email to Google Apps. I also wanted to where email from domain1 (a Wordpress installation) would show it coming from domain1.com and email from domain2 (a normal website) would show it coming from domain2.com. So I decided to give PostFix a try. I literally followed the surprisingly simple instructions here: http://sudhanshuraheja.com/2009/02/slicehost-setup-outgoing-mail-google-apps-postfix/ And voila, all seems to be working as I expected. My email tests show email coming from the proper locations (either domain1 or domain2 depending on where the emails were sent from). But this all seemed too simple to me. So simple, in fact, that I feel that something is amiss. When I installed PostFix according to the instructions in the post above and it worked, I was surprised that I didn't have to specify an SMTP server, a port number, any authentication credentials, etc. My slice is set up such that I have MX records for Google Apps (e.g., ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM.) in my DNS settings, but I am not sure if that is why it is working. My email infrastructure knowledge is admittedly limited, but with this am I suspect to: Spammers using my email infrastructure? My emails going to people as spam? Something else sinister? I have actually stopped running PostFix until I understand this better. Thanks!

  I bought a domain name on name.com & I want to use free webhosting on 110mb.com By default name.com integrates services of Google apps. Name server entries are ns1.name.com ns2.name.com ns3.name.com ns4.name.com When I registered on 110mb.com it gave me two addresses ns1.110mb.com ns2.110mb.com This is where I'm lost. The concept is that "Domain name should point to an address of the server where the website is hosted" right? Then why are these 4 entires by default. How exactly is it working? should I remove these 4 and then add 110mb.com servers or just append 110mb.com server addresses to name.com ones. I would like to use google apps. If I change these name server addresses would that remove google apps? I especially want to use email service of google. And I really don't understand what is CNAME, MX, or something something. I want to learn about these stuff & how it exactly works. When I search for webhost tutorial. I'm unable to find any fruitful results.
