  • wamp installed can't find localhost

    I installed a WAMP package on a Windows 7 machine and everything ( Apache, php, mySql, phpMyAdmin) appear to have installed correctly. However when I try to access localhost or phpMyAdmin via the browser, I get "Server Not Found". I've tried using localhost, 127.0.0.1 in the browser. I've checked the httpd file it says "Listen 80". C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts says "127.0.0.1 localhost" Apache log file doen't show any errors. Suggestions appreciated.

  • LSI 9285-8e and Supermicro SC837E26-RJBOD1 duplicate enclosure ID and slot numbers

    I am working with 2 x Supermicro SC837E26-RJBOD1 chassis connected to a single LSI 9285-8e card in a Supermicro 1U host. There are 28 drives in each chassis for a total of 56 drives in 28 RAID1 mirrors. The problem I am running in to is that there are duplicate slots for the 2 chassis (the slots list twice and only go from 0 to 27). All the drives also show the same enclosure ID (ID 36). However, MegaCLI -encinfo lists the 2 enclosures correctly (ID 36 and ID 65). My question is, why would this happen? Is there an option I am missing to use 2 enclosures effectively? This is blocking me rebuilding a drive that failed in slot 11 since I can only specify enclosure and slot as parameters to replace a drive. When I do this, it picks the wrong slot 11 (device ID 46 instead of device ID 19). Adapter #1 is the LSI 9285-8e, adapter #0 (which I removed due to space limitations) is the onboard LSI. After getting in contact with a very knowledgeable Supermicro tech, they provided us with a tool called Xflash (doesn't appear to be readily available on their FTP). You see the 3 connected (we have since added a 3rd and a 4th which is not yet showing up) with their respective SAS address / WWN (50030480:00EE917F). The first 2 enclosures logical ID is partially masked out where the 3rd one (which has a correct unique enclosure ID) is not. We pointed this out to Supermicro and were able to confirm that this address is supposed to be set during manufacturing and there was a problem with a certain batch of these enclosures where the logical ID was not set. We believe that the RAID controller is determining the ID based on the logical ID and since our first 2 enclosures have the same logical ID, they get the same enclosure ID. We also confirmed that 0000007F is the default which comes from LSI as an ID. The next pointer that helps confirm this could be a manufacturing problem with a run of JBODs is the fact that all 6 of the enclosures that have this problem begin with 00E. I believe that between 00E8 and 00EE Supermicro forgot to program the logical IDs correctly and neglected to recall or fix the problem post production. Fortunately for us, there is a tool to manage the WWN and logical ID of the devices from Supermicro: ftp://ftp.supermicro.com/utility/ExpanderXtools_Lite/. Our next step is to schedule a shutdown of these JBODs (after data migration) and reprogram the logical ID and see if it solves the problem.   • Problems during an update of cPanel / WHM

    I ordered a Master WHM account with the couple CentOS / cPanel. whm-cpanel.eu.pn The installation is a fresh update of the basic services was necessary (had: WHM 11.15.0 cPanel 11.17.0 WHM X v3.1.0, Apache 1.3.37, PHP 4.4.7, MySQL 4.1.22). 1 / I started to update cPanel / WHM via the command: / scripts / upcp. Everything went well until the middle of installing the server stopped responding (or ping, or ssh). The installation appears to have continued alone to the end and after some time everything is back to normal (I do not know if there was a reboot) and my interface was updated (cPanel 11.24.4-R36167 - WHM 11.24.2 - X 3.9). 2 / Then I updated via the MySQL interface tweak this in WHM then the command: / scripts / mysqlup. Here everything went fine, no problem. 3 / Finally, I wanted to upgrade Apache 2.2 / PHP 5 and I used this command: / scripts / easyapache. After selecting all the packages and modules installation is started but the same as for point 1: the server did not answer more and this time the installation did not go through. Apache 2.2 is well spent (after the second try) but PHP has remained at 4. I tried several times the same operation without success. I do not think this is a memory problem, a free-m shortly before losing communications gave nothing alarming. By cons CPU time seemed to rise up. I reinstalled the machine again the trick, same problem! Whether via the WHM interface or by Shell, the installation stops short, for 15 minutes the machine is not responding and then everything returns to normal, but no update is done in PHP. Is there a known bug in this version of cPanel / WHM? Someone he met the same problem? If I compile Apache / PHP manually, without using the script easyapache is what I might encounter problems with cPanel later? Thank you!

  • pros and cons with server management gui tools to manage linux web servers

    i have stumbled upon these GUI tools that could help you manage your linux server through a web interface. ebox, webmin, ispconfig, zivios, ispcp, plesk, cpanel etc. i wonder what the pros and cons are with these solutions. a lot of people is saying that they are not as good as using pure command line (ssh) to manage your server. but i think thats yet another "linux are for advanced users" talk. i agree that a lot of things may only be done with the command line by editing directly in the configuration files. but i don't really want to do that every time and for everything. especially basic configurations these could manage. its like not having phpmyadmin for managing mysql. it would be a pain in the ass right? so if one wants to throw up a web server serving a php site oneself developed and wants all the usual stuff up and running (mysql, phpmyadmin, svn, webdav etc) is these tools the right way to go? and for more advanced features, one just use the terminal like old days. is this a smart way of managing a linux server? and which one would you choose? have you used any of these and could share your thoughts about them?

  • EC2 Ubuntu - Force instance to use internal IP

    I've just set up a micro instance on EC2 (AMI ID ami-e59ca991). I had hoped to avoid charges for a year as my usage falls well within the bound of the free tier. I have been charged $0.01 for "regional data transfer". I read here that this is because my instance is talking to its self via it's external IP address. From what I've Googled it looks like you can stop the charges by making sure that the instance uses its internal IP address. However, when I ping the hostname of my instance internally (via an ssh session) it resolves to the instances internal IP address. How can I configure my instance so that I do not get these charges? Is it as simple as adding a line to my hosts file? Additionally, is this the real reason for the charge? I'm concerned that I've misunderstood the pricing somewhere. I have Apace and MySQL (with phpmyadmin) running on the machine - could I be being charged for data transfer associated with these (I have only one flat HTML page and I have only logged in via phpmyadmin - I have no data in my database). Edit: Additionally, my user account on MySQL was declared as: grant all privileges on *.* to 'peter'@'localhost'; Should I have instead used the internal hostname for the instance? grant all privileges on *.* to '[email protected]'; Cheers, Pete

  • fsck on LVM snapshots

    I'm trying to do some file system checks using LVM snapshots of our Logical Volumes to see if any of them have dirty file systems. The problem that I have is that our LVM only has one Volume Group with no available space. I was able to do fsck's on some of the logical volumes using a loopback file system. However my question is, is it possible to create a 200GB loopback file system, and saved it on the same partition/logical volume that I'll be taking a snapshot of? Is LVM smart enough to not take a snapshot copy of the actual snapshot?
