Self - hosted WCF server and SSL

Hello, There is self - hosted WCF server (Not IIS), and was generated certificates (on the Win Xp) using command line like makecert.exe -sr CurrentUser -ss My -a sha1 -n CN=SecureClient -sky exchange -pe makecert.exe -sr CurrentUser -ss My -a sha1 -n CN=SecureServer -sky exchange -pe These certificates was added to the server code like this: serviceCred.ServiceCertificate.SetCertificate(StoreLocation.LocalMachine, StoreName.My, X509FindType.FindBySubjectName, "SecureServer"); serviceCred.ClientCertificate.SetCertificate(StoreLocation.LocalMachine, StoreName.My, X509FindType.FindBySubjectName, "SecureClient"); After all previous operation I created simple client to check SSL connection to the server. How to Debug an exception: Type is not marked as serializable... when the type is marked as serializ

I'm trying to: ((Request.Params["crmid"] != null)) in a web page. But it keeps throwing a serialzation exception: Type 'QC.Security.SL.SiteUser' in assembly 'QC.Security, Version=1.0.0.1, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' is not marked as serializable. The type is however marked as serializable as follows: [Serializable()] public class SiteUser : IIdentity { private long _userId; public long UserId { get { return _userId; } set { _userId = value; } } private string _name; public string Name { get { return _name; } } private bool _isAuthenticated; public bool IsAuthenticated { get { return _isAuthenticated; } } private string _authenticationType; public string AuthenticationType { get { return _authenticationType; } } I've no idea how to debug this as I cant step into the serializer code to find out why its falling over. The call stack is only one frame deep before it hits [External Code]. And the error message is next to useless given that type is clearly marked as serializable. It was working fine. But now "all of a sudden" it doesn't which typically means some dumb bug in Visual Studio but rebooting doesn't help "this" time. So now I dont know if it's a stupid VS bug or a completely unrelated error for which Im getting a serialization exception or something I'm doing wrong. The truth is I just dont trust VS anymore given the number of wild goose chases Ive been on over the last several months which were "fixed" by rebooting VS 2008 or some other rediculous workaround.

Symfony fk issue on insertion

Hi, I posted a similar problem but it could not be resolved. I create a relational database of users and groups but for some reason I cannot insert test data with fixtures properly. </client> </system.serviceModel> </configuration> When I tried to access the service from client application, I got SecurityNegotiationException and details are Secure channel cannot be opened because security negotiation with the remote endpoint has failed. This may be due to absent or incorrectly specified EndpointIdentity in the EndpointAddress used to create the channel. Please verify the EndpointIdentity specified or implied by the EndpointAddress correctly identifies the remote endpoint. If I host the service on ASP .NET Dev server, it work well but if I host on IIS above mentioned error occurs. Thanks, Ram

Problem with ASP.NET Authentication

I'm having problem with our login procedure. Some customers complain that they can't login. I can see in our logs that their login is successful and that they are redirected from the login page to the member area. But there somehow the login isn't detected and they are bounced back to the login page. I've asked customers to check if cookies are supported (http://www.html-kit.com/tools/cookietester/) but problem remains even if this test returns true. This is how I've implemented the login procedure (simplyfied): protected void Login(string email, string password) { FormsAuthentication.SignOut(); Guid clientId = /* Validate login by checking email and password, if fails display error otherwise get client id */ FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(clientId.ToString(), true); HttpContext.Current.Response.Redirect("~/Members.aspx"); } On the member page I check for authentication by in Page_Load function: public static void IsAuthenticated() { if (!HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.IsAuthenticated) { HttpContext.Current.Response.Redirect("~/Login.aspx", true); } } Maybe I'm using FormsAuthentication completely wrong? I've asked this before but still haven't been able to figure this out, I'd appreciate any help.

Please help me with database connection types in Windows.

Sorry for a badly-phrased question. I have a requirement coming from a non-technical person that I need to make sense of. I am basically told: "Here use 'Driver={SQL Server};Server=SERVERNAME\INSTANCENAME;Database=DATABASENAME;Uid=UNAME;Pwd=PASSWORD;'; and here use Server=SERVERNAME\INSTANCENAME;Database=DATABASENAME;Uid=UNAME;Pwd=PASSWORD;';. I am getting no additional help here. While this seems to miraculously fix a bug, I want to understand what is it that I am changing, so I can leave a proper comment for the next developer, plus I can structure the code and name variables differently, depending on the meaning of the change. The work revolves around ASP.net, reporting, SQL Server 2008. Please give me some examples about when you would use one connection string over another. Feel free to edit the question if you can see a way to improve it. When can you lose a 'Driver={SQL Server};? Thank you. EDIT: SQL Server 2008 is the target database, but other can be used ... or maybe will be used in the future.

Erlang, SSH and authorized_keys

Playing with the ssh and public_key application in Erlang, I've discovered a nice feature. I was trying to connect to my running Erlang SSH daemon by using a rsa key, but the authentication was failing and I was prompted for a password. After some debugging and tracing (and a couple of coffees), I've realized that, for some weird reason, a non valid key for my user was there. The authorized_keys file contained two keys. The wrong one was at some point in the file, while the correct one was appended at the end of the file. Now, the Erlang SSH application, when diffing the provided key with the ones contained in the authorized_keys, it was finding the first entry (completely ignoring the second on - the correct one). Then, it was switching to different authentication mechanism (at first it was trying dsa instead of rsa and then it was prompting for a password). The question is: Is this behavior intended or should the SSH server check for multiple entries for the same user in the *authorized_keys* file? Is this a generic SSH behaviour or it's just specific to the Erlang implementation?

Getting parameters values blank and null when using custom wsdl in axis2

When I am placing my own wsdl file in META-INF directory and deploying my web services they are deploying successfully. But the problem is when i try to test these web service using soapui it throwing null pointer exception. Blocking on DBCP connection pool (open and close connnection). Is database connection pooling in OpenEJB pluggable?

We use OpenEJB on Tomcat (used to run on JBoss, Weblogic, etc.). While running load tests we experience significant performance problems with handling JMS messages (queues). Problem was localized to blocking on database connection pool getting or releasing connection to the pool. Blocking prevented concurrent MDB instances (threads) from running hence performance suffered 10-fold and worse. The same code used to run on application servers (with their respective connection pool implementations) with no blocking at all. authentication error while importing from netbeans to subversion

Hi Everyone.... I just began looking into source control.... And installed subversion from collabnet... I also use netbeans(6.8) to work with PHP... I have done the following steps I have installed subversion is c:\program files\collabnet\ and the root for the repositories in e:\svn_repository I then created a repository as e:\svn_repository\lemon I then edited the passwd file and added the user and password I then tried importing an existing project into the repository with the address - svn://localhost/lemon with the new user and password. After all this, i get the error "authentication failed"... I am pretty sure the authentication is correct... I tried importing the project with the address file:///E:/sv_repository/lemon with no authentication and it connected... But i got other guys who got to connect to this server through lan and svn:// protocol is the only option.... What am i doing wrong here..? Also.. where can i find a proper tutorial to connect netbeans and collabnet subversion.....? Thanks for your suggestions and time...

Hey, so I'm having a bunch of trouble getting ExternalInterface to work, which is odd, because I use it somewhat often. I'm hoping it's something I just missed because I've been looking at it too long. The flash_ready function is correctly returning the objectID, and as far as I can tell, everything else is in order. Unfortunately, when I run it, I get an error (varying by browser) telling me that basically document.getElementById(<movename>).test() is not a valid method. Perl WordPress::XMLRPC categories not being set.

The following code works fine to upload a new post to a WordPress blog but for the life of me I can't seem to get the categories to be set. The categories exist. I've tried all lower case, tried case-matching, tried the slug version. Nothing works. No matter how I try passing the categories, the post gets assigned only to the default category. Rails 2.3.2 trying to render ERB instead of HAML

Rails is suddenly trying to render ERB instead of Haml and I can't figure out why. I've created new rails projects, reinstalled Haml, and reinstalled Rails. Here's exactly the steps I take when making my application (Rails 2.3.2): rails> rails test rails> cd test rails\test> haml --rails . rails\test> ruby script\generate model user email:string password:string rails\test> ruby script\generate controller users index rails\test> rake db:migrate Here's what the UsersController looks like: class UsersController < ApplicationController def index @users = User.all end end My routes: ActionController::Routing::Routes.draw do |map| map.resources :users end I now create views\users\index.html.haml: %table %th(style="text-align: left;") %h1 Users - for user in @users %tr %td= user.email %td= user.password Annnd run the server... I navigate to localhost:3000\users and I get this error message: Template is missing Missing template users/index.erb in view path app/views For some reason Rails is trying to find and render .erb files instead of .haml files. vendor\plugins\haml\init.rb exists, untouched. I've reinstalled Haml (Pretty Penny) multiple times and still get the same results. I've also tried adding config.gem 'haml' to my environment.rb but this also doesn't work. I can't figure out why suddenly rails will not render haml for me.

silverlight 3: long running wcf call triggers 401.1 (access denied)

I have a wcf service consumed by a silverlight 3 control. The Silverlight client uses a basicHttpBindinging that is constructed at runtime from the control's initialization parameters like this: public static T GetServiceClient<T>(string serviceURL) { BasicHttpBinding binding = new BasicHttpBinding(Application.Current.Host.Source.Scheme.Equals("https", StringComparison.InvariantCultureIgnoreCase) ? Calls were returning as expected until the result set increased to several thousand rows at which time HTTP 401.1 errors were received. The Service's HttpBinding defines closeTime, openTimeout, receiveTimeout and sendTimeOut of 10 minutes. If I limit the size of the resultset the call suceeds. Additional Observations from Fiddler: When Method2 is modified to return a smaller resultset (and avoid the problem), control initialization consists of 4 calls: Service1/Method1 -- result:401 Service1/Method1 -- result:401 (this time header includes element "Authorization: Negotiate TlRMTV..." Service1/Method1 -- result:200 Service1/Method2 -- result:200 (1.25 seconds) When Method2 is configured to return the larger resultset we get: Service1/Method1 -- result:401 Service1/Method1 -- result:401 (this time header includes element "Authorization: Negotiate TlRMTV..." Service1/Method1 -- result:200 Service1/Method2 -- result:401.1 (7.5 seconds) Service1/Method2 -- result:401.1 (15ms) Service1/Method2 -- result:401.1 (7.5 seconds)

NSThread terminating too early

I have an app that uploads to Google Spreadsheets via the GData ObjC client for Mac/iPhone. It works fine as is. I'm trying to get the upload portion on its own thread and I'm attempting to call the upload method on a new thread. Look: -(void)establishNewThreadToUpload { [NSThread detachNewThreadSelector:@selector(uploadToGoogle) toTarget:self withObject:nil]; } -(void)uploadToGoogle { NSAutoReleasePool *pool = [[NSAutoReleasePool alloc] init]; //works fine [helper setNewServiceWithName:username password:password]; //works fine [helper fetchUserSpreadsheetFeed]; //inside the helper class, fetchUserSpreadsheet feed calls ANOTHER method, which //calls ANOTHER METHOD and so on, until the object is either uploaded or fails //However, once the class gets to the end of fetchUserSpreadsheetFeed //control is passed back to this method, and [pool release]; //is called. The thread terminates and nothing ever happens. } If I forget about using a separate thread, everything works like it's supposed to. Internal bug tracking tickets - Redmine, Trac, or JIRA

I've been looking at setting up Redmine, Trac, or JIRA to track issues. I want to be able to have my development team create internal tickets that are never seen by clients, while clients can create/edit tickets that are seen by the internal team. From the Trac documentation, you can set permissions to create or view tickets, but it doesn't seem to allow for viewing only certain tickets. It may be possible with Trac Fine Grained Permissions, but doesn't appear so. The Redmine documentation mentions: Define your own roles and set their permissions in a click but doesn't appear to have the level of granularity. From the JIRA documentation: At the moment JIRA is only able to support security at a project level or issue level. Currently there is no field level security available. According to this question, Redmine doesn't support internal tickets, so you would have to use multiple projects. I don't want a situation where I would have to create multiple projects - one internal, one external and have the external tickets brought into the internal repository. It seems as this would lead to unnecessary overhead and inevitably, the projects wouldn't be in sync. Is there any way with any of these products (possibly through a plug-in if not in the core product itself) to specify these permissions, or simplify having two projects with different users and permissions that must still share information?
