  • Problem with sorting NSDictionary

    - by Stas Dmitrenko
    Hello. I need to sort a NSDictionary of dictionaries. It looks like: {//dictionary RU = "110.1"; //key and value SG = "150.2"; //key and value US = "50.3"; //key and value } Result need to be like: {//dictionary SG = "150.2"; //key and value RU = "110.1"; //key and value US = "50.3"; //key and value } I am trying this: @implementation NSMutableDictionary (sorting) -(NSMutableDictionary*)sortDictionary { NSArray *allKeys = [self allKeys]; NSMutableArray *allValues = [NSMutableArray array]; NSMutableArray *sortValues= [NSMutableArray array]; NSMutableArray *sortKeys= [NSMutableArray array]; for(int i=0;i<[[self allValues] count];i++) { [allValues addObject:[NSNumber numberWithFloat:[[[self allValues] objectAtIndex:i] floatValue]]]; } [sortValues addObjectsFromArray:allValues]; [sortKeys addObjectsFromArray:[self allKeys]]; [sortValues sortUsingDescriptors:[NSArray arrayWithObject:[[[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"floatValue" ascending:NO] autorelease]]]; for(int i=0;i<[sortValues count];i++) { [sortKeys replaceObjectAtIndex:i withObject:[allKeys objectAtIndex:[allValues indexOfObject:[sortValues objectAtIndex:i]]]]; [allValues replaceObjectAtIndex:[allValues indexOfObject:[sortValues objectAtIndex:i]] withObject:[NSNull null]]; } NSLog(@"%@", sortKeys); NSLog(@"%@", sortValues); NSLog(@"%@", [NSMutableDictionary dictionaryWithObjects:sortValues forKeys:sortKeys]); return [NSMutableDictionary dictionaryWithObjects:sortValues forKeys:sortKeys]; } @end This is the result of NSLog: 1) { SG, RU, US } 2) { 150.2, 110.1, 50.3 } 3) { RU = "110.1"; SG = "150.2"; US = "50.3"; } Why is this happening? Can you help me with this problem?

  • Common views in viewControllers - Code re-usability

    - by Nitish
    I have few common views in most of my viewControllers. What I noticed is that I can reuse single code for all viewControllers which is absolutely wise. For this I decided to create a class Utils which has static methods like +(void)createCommonViews:(float)yAxis:(NSString*)text; In my case common views are three labels and two images. Problem : I am not able to add these views from Utils. I am wondering how can I send self as a parameter so that I may add the views from Utils. It may be wrong to add views outside the viewController. In that case what can be the solution? Taking all these views in a UIView, setting return type of Utils method as UIView and then adding UIView to viewController(after calling method from viewController) might solve my problem. But what I am looking for is some other solution. Thanks, Nitish

  • How to remove segmentedcontroller from uinavigationcontroller after view pops?

    - by cannyboy
    I'm building a segmented control within my viewDidLoad method, like so: NSArray *tabitems = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:@"ONE", @"TWO", nil]; UISegmentedControl *tabs = [[UISegmentedControl alloc] initWithItems:tabitems]; tabs.segmentedControlStyle = UISegmentedControlStyleBar; tabs.frame = CGRectMake(185.0, 7.0, 130.0, 30.0); tabs.selectedSegmentIndex = 0; [self.navigationController.navigationBar addSubview:tabs]; [tabs release]; But when the user goes Back in the uinavigationcontroller hierarchy, the segmented controller stays on the navigation bar. How would I get rid of it? Or am I doing something fundamentally wrong?

  • Force a view change from a button when using UITabBarController

    - by user342197
    Hello - When using a UITabBarController, when the user enters some data on View1 and presses a button, I need to perform some calculations and present the results on View2. I have an AppDelegate, View1Controller, View2Controller, and View3Controller (View3 is a basically static view). My AppDelgate declares UITabBarController *rootController; On View1, I have the calculations being performed in an IBAction for buttonPressed; however, I can't seem to force the view to switch to View2 programmatically. I have done a lot of searching for similar problems, and think I should be doing something like "self.rootController.selectedIndex = 1"; however,when I do this from within buttonPressed on my View1Controller, I get an error "request for member rootController in something not in a structure or union". I think I'm missing something basic here... probably need do do something with my AppDelegate, but I'm banging my head against the wall. Can anyone provide some guidance in this situation...like key things I should do in View1Controller header and implementation with reference to my AppDelgate? Thank you!

  • Objective C Enumerate Sentences in a paragraph

    - by Faz Ya
    I would like to write an enumerator that would go through a paragraph of text and gives me one sentence at a time. I tried using stringEnumerate with the NSStringEnumerationBySentences but that simply looks at the periods and fails. For example, lets say I have the following text Block: "Senator John A. Boehner decided not to move forward. He also decided not to call the congress. The news reporter said though...." I would like my function to break down the above paragraph in the following sentences: Senator John A. Boehner decided not to move forward He also decided not to call the congress (No third sentence because it's a half a sentence) The String Enumerator with the sentence optionjust looks at the periods and breaks down that way which is wrong: Senator John A. Boehner decided not to move forward He also decided not to call the congress The news reporter said though.... Is there any library or function that I can call that does a better job at this? Thanks - (NSMutableString *) getOnlyFullSentencesFromTextBlock:(NSMutableString *) textBlock{ [textBlock enumerateSubstringsInRange:NSMakeRange(0, [textBlock length]) options:NSStringEnumerationBySentences | NSStringEnumerationLocalized usingBlock:^(NSString *substring, NSRange substringRange, NSRange enclosingRange, BOOL *stop) { NSLog(@"Sentence Frag:%@", substring); }]; return textBlock; }

  • How to assign optional attribute of NSManagedObject in a NSManagedObjectModel having Three NSManaged

    - by Kundan
    I am using coredata framework. In my NSManagedObjectModel i am using three entities that are Class, Student and Score where class and student have one-to-many & inverse relationship and Student and Score have also inverse but one-one relationship. Score entity has all optional attributes and having default '0' decimalVaue, which is not assigned at the time new Student is added. But later i want to assign them score individually and also to particular attribute not all of score attributes in a go. I am able to create and add Students to particular Class but dont have any idea how to call particular student and assign them score. For example I want to assign Score'attribute "dribbling" [there are many attributes like "tackling"] a decimal value to Student "David" of Class "Soccer" ,how i can do that? Thanks in advance for any suggestion.

  • Three20 TTSectionedDataSource row height

    - by Ward
    Hey there, I'm using Three20 to create a table with several textfields for user registration. I've found two possible methods using Three20. The first uses the TTSectionedDataSource's tableDidLoadModel method to manually add UI components and the second adds custom items that contains pre formatted UI components. The second option seems way more complex and I'm having a difficult time accessing the individual fields. So if one field is a textfield for the username, I need to access the field to submit the username and it doesn't seem like there's an easy answer. The first option gives me a lot of flexibility, but I can't figure out how to set the individual row heights. One row may have a label above a text field, another may have an image, etc. Is there a method that can be used in TTSectionedDataSource that will allow me to set the height for each row? Thus far, I'm using method one and creating UIViews to hold a label field and a text field. I've tried changing the frame of the uiview before it is added to the items array, but it has no affect. Any ideas?

  • iOS TableView crash loading different data

    - by jollyr0ger
    Hi to all! I'm developing a simple iOS app where there is a table view with some categories (CategoryViewController). When clicking one of this category the view will be passed to a RecipesListController with another table view with recipes. This recipes are loaded from different plist based on the category clicked. The first time I click on a category, the recipes list is loaded and shown correctely. If i back to the category list and click any of the category (also the same again) the app crash. • SingleTap on UIScrollView

    - by ludo
    Hi, I see many post dealing with the UIScrollView like in the PhotoApp, but I don't really understand them, thats why I want to reopen a post about it and have a simple solution. What I want is to create (without IB) a simple UIViewController who will contain a UIScrollView (inside my scrollView there will be image and the scrollView will be set to pagingEnable to YES of course). I want to be able with a simple touch of the screen to display the navigationController.navigationBar inside my UIViewController and with another touch not displaying it of course. Can anyone show me how to implement that? thanks,

  • Steps in subclassing UINavigationController

    - by RickiG
    Hello I would like to subclass the UINavigationController to get some more freedom in regards to the appearance of the controller. I have some graphics for the different parts, bars, buttons, text etc. Looking at the UINavigationController header file I get little help, I don't know where to start out. I have never subclassed/overridden a UIKit component before, it seems it is a bit like playing Sherlock Holmes. What is the approach? How do I know what to override to get a a specific piece of graphics "injected" the correct place? Do I need to subclass UINavigationBar, UIBarButtonItem etc. etc to get the complete customized look? How do I know if something is off limits in regards to being approved by Apple? Hope someone can point me in the right direction, I have only been able to find examples of changing small parts of the controller, not a full customization by subclassing. Am I going about this the wrong way? Thanks:)

  • Simple sound effect loop using AudioToolKit

    - by Typeoneerror
    I've created a few sounds for use in my game. I can play them at certain events without issue: // create sounds CFBundleRef mainBundle; mainBundle = CFBundleGetMainBundle(); _soundFileShake = CFBundleCopyResourceURL(mainBundle, CFSTR("shake"), CFSTR("wav"), NULL); AudioServicesCreateSystemSoundID(_soundFileShake, &_soundIdShake); // later... AudioServicesPlaySystemSound(_soundIdShake); The game has a mechanism which allows you to shake the device to activate some functionality. I've got the shaking code done so I get get a "shaking started" and "shaking ended" message to my game. What I need to have happen is start playing "shave.wav" when shaking starts and loop it until it stops. Is there a way to do this with AudioToolbox/AudioServices? How could I do this if not?

    If ObjectAlloc cannot deduce type information for the block, it uses 'GeneralBlock'. Any strategies to get leaks from this block that may eliminate the need of my 'trial and error' methods that I use? The Extended Detail thing doesn't really do it for me as I just keep guessing.

  • Save UITextView content in NSString.

    - by camilo
    Hi, I'm trying to save the contents of an UITextView into a NSString which I will somehow persist later. The problem is that the UITextView "text" property doesn't save all the rows in the textView (after touching "return"). I tried print the TextView object and the textView.text, and they're different. Does anybody know how (after editing the textView) I can save its content into a String (or something else that I can later access and share through different views and persist in the database)? Thanks a lot. Pretty sure it is simple, but I'm honestly not finding the solution.

  • Does correcting a value in an validation method mark the object as dirty?

    - by dontWatchMyProfile
    From the docs: If you change the input value in a validate:error: method, you must ensure that you only change the value if it is invalid or uncoerced. The reason is that, since the object and context are now dirtied, Core Data may validate that key again later. If you keep performing a coercion in a validation method, this can therefore produce an infinite loop. So when I modify a value in a validation method, the context gets dirtied? And the next time I save, the validation happens again - and when I change the value even if the validation is OK, then the context is again dirtied, and revalidated again - and I change the value, and Core Data validates, again, because the context is dirtied. And so on...for ever... is that right? Or did they try to say something different?

  • iPad keyboard will not dismiss if navigation controller presentation style is "form sheet".

    - by Kalle
    UPDATE: This is apparently "works as intended" classed by Apple. See accepted answer below for details. Update: this question is about a behavior discovered in the iPad keyboard, where it refuses to be dismissed if shown in a modal dialog with a navigation controller. Basically, if I present the navigation controller with the following line: navigationController.modalPresentationStyle = UIModalPresentationFormSheet; The keyboard refuses to be dismissed. If I comment out this line, the keyboard goes away fine. ... I've got two textFields, username and password; username has a Next button and password has a Done button. The keyboard won't go away if I present this in a modal navigation controller. WORKS broken *b = [[broken alloc] initWithNibName:@"broken" bundle:nil]; [self.view addSubview:b.view]; DOES NOT WORK broken *b = [[broken alloc] initWithNibName:@"broken" bundle:nil]; UINavigationController *navigationController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:b]; navigationController.modalPresentationStyle = UIModalPresentationFormSheet; navigationController.modalTransitionStyle = UIModalTransitionStyleFlipHorizontal; [self presentModalViewController:navigationController animated:YES]; [navigationController release]; [b release]; If I remove the navigation controller part and present 'b' as a modal view controller by itself, it works. Is the navigation controller the problem? WORKS broken *b = [[broken alloc] initWithNibName:@"broken" bundle:nil]; b.modalTransitionStyle = UIModalTransitionStyleFlipHorizontal; [self presentModalViewController:b animated:YES]; [b release]; WORKS broken *b = [[broken alloc] initWithNibName:@"broken" bundle:nil]; UINavigationController *navigationController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:b]; [self presentModalViewController:navigationController animated:YES]; [navigationController release]; [b release];

    Hey guys, I was wondering what was the default values of variables before I intialize them .. For example, if I do : //myClass.h BOOL myBOOL; // default value ? NSArray *myArray; // default value ? NSUInteger myInteger; // default value ? Some more examples here : //myClass.m // myArray is not initialized, only declared in .h file if ([myArray count] == 0) { // TRUE or FALSE ? // do whatever } More generally, what is returned when I do : [myObjectOnlyDeclaredAndNotInitialized myCustomFunction]; Thank you for your answers. • Change Sprite Anchorpoint without moving it?

    - by OscarMk
    Hello, I am trying to change my Sprite anchor point so that I can rotate over a 0.0f,0.0f anchorpoint. At first my object is rotation at the default anchor point (0.5f,0.5f). However later on I need it to rotate over a 0.0,0.0 AnchorPoint. The problem is I cannot change the anchor point and change the position accordingly, so it stays on the same position, without the object appearing to quickly move and reposition to its original point. Is there a way I can set the anchor point and the position of my Sprite at once, without it moving at all?. Thank you. -Oscar

  • Objective-C: Getting the True Class of Classes in Class Clusters

    - by TechZen
    Recently while trying to answer a questions here, I ran some test code to see how Xcode/gdb reported the class of instances in class clusters. (see below) In the past, I've expected to see something like: PrivateClusterClass:PublicSuperClass:NSObject Such as this (which still returns as expected): NSPathStore2:NSString:NSObject ... for a string created with +[NSString pathWithComponents:]. However, with NSSet and subclass the following code: - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { NSSet *s=[NSSet setWithObject:@"setWithObject"]; NSMutableSet *m=[NSMutableSet setWithCapacity:1]; [m addObject:@"Added String"]; NSMutableSet *n = [[NSMutableSet alloc] initWithCapacity:1]; [self showSuperClasses:s]; [self showSuperClasses:m]; [self showSuperClasses:n]; [self showSuperClasses:@"Steve"]; } - (void) showSuperClasses:(id) anObject{ Class cl = [anObject class]; NSString *classDescription = [cl description]; while ([cl superclass]) { cl = [cl superclass]; classDescription = [classDescription stringByAppendingFormat:@":%@", [cl description]]; } NSLog(@"%@ classes=%@",[anObject class], classDescription); } ... outputs: // NSSet *s NSCFSet classes=NSCFSet:NSMutableSet:NSSet:NSObject //NSMutableSet *m NSCFSet classes=NSCFSet:NSMutableSet:NSSet:NSObject //NSMutableSet *n NSCFSet classes=NSCFSet:NSMutableSet:NSSet:NSObject // NSString @"Steve" NSCFString classes=NSCFString:NSMutableString:NSString:NSObject The debugger shows the same class for all Set instances. I know that in the past the Set class cluster did not return like this. What has changed? (I suspect it is a change in the bridge from Core Foundation.) What class cluster report just a generic class e.g. NSCFSet and which report an actual subclass e.g. NSPathStore2? Most importantly, when debugging how do you determine the actual class of a NSSet cluster instance?

  • Can I create a UITableViewController that inherits from a custom subclass of UIViewController?

    - by prendio2
    I have common functionality that I need to access from all screens of my app: a right bar button item and associated action. So as not to repeat the code I would like to set this up in a custom UIViewController and have all my view controllers inherit from it. - (void)viewDidLoad { UIBarButtonItem *rightBarButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithBarButtonSystemItem:UIBarButtonSystemItemPlay target:self action:@selector(lightsCamera)]; self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = rightBarButton; } - (void)lightsCamera { … } However, I have a number of UITableViewControllers however and I would like to know if it is possible for them to inherit the functionality too?

  • Optimization headers for UITableView?

    - by Pask
    I have an optimization problem for the headers of a table with plain style. If I use the standard view for the table (the classic gray with titles set by titleForHeaderInSection:) everything is ok and the scrolling is smooth and immediate. When, instead, use this code to set my personal view: - (UIView *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView viewForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)section { return [self headerPerTitolo:[titoliSezioni objectAtIndex:section]]; } - (UIImageView *)headerPerTitolo:(NSString *)titolo { UIImageView *headerView = [[[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(10.0, 0.0, 320.0, 44.0)] autorelease]; headerView.image = [UIImage imageNamed:kNomeImmagineHeader]; headerView.alpha = kAlphaSezioniTablePlain; UILabel * headerLabel = [[[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectZero] autorelease]; headerLabel.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; headerLabel.opaque = NO; headerLabel.textColor = [UIColor whiteColor]; headerLabel.font = [UIFont boldSystemFontOfSize:16]; headerLabel.frame = CGRectMake(10.0,-11.0, 320.0, 44.0); headerLabel.textAlignment = UITextAlignmentLeft; headerLabel.text = titolo; [headerView addSubview:headerLabel]; return headerView; } scrolling is jerky and not immediate (sliding the finger on the screen does not match an immediate shift of the table). I do not know what caused this problem, maybe the fact that every time the method viewForHeaderInSection: is called, the code runs to create a new UIImageView. I tried many ways to solve the problem, such as creating an array of all the necessary view: apart from more time spent loading at startup, there is a continuing problem of low reactivity of the table. 've Attempted by reducing the size of UIImageView positioned from about 66 KB to 4 KB: not only has a deterioration in quality of colors (which distorts a bit 'original graphics), but ... the problem persists! Perhaps you have suggestions about it, or know me obscure techniques that enable me to optimize this aspect of my application ... I apologize for my English, I used Google for translation.

  • Enterprise Native Mobile Application Development

    - by ahsteele
    I tend to believe that developing mobile applications in an enterprise environment is best suited by developing intranet web applications. That said I have been asked to think about whether there are specific enterprise applications that could only be accomplished or would be more successful as native applications. I am curious as to what the Stack Overflow community thinks. Note: As an organization we primarily use BlackBerry devices but are other platform curious.
