  • Application crash

    I have an application that, as any other app, crashes once in a while for various reasons. When it crashes, it does it gracefully and the users get a nice message of the crash. At the same time the crash is reported on the server for analysis so it can be fixed in future versions. However, I would like that the app keeps working through the crash. What that means is that I would like to run the forms in an 'atomic' way. If it goes down, it doesn't take down the entire app. The users should just need to start over the work done with the particular form. Is this something that can be done through architecture? Or maybe the new framework versions has something to aid this? The application is build mostly in C# over the 3.5 framework, but it also uses some external references, some COMs and web service references. I am not interested in an answer: 'well fix the crashes'. Me and my team and the testing team are working round the clock for this.

    How can I change the program a file is opened with by default (or at least add that program in the list of programs from Open With... ) using C# or VB.NET ? What I mean is, I would like to have programs with the extension abc open by default by the program abc.exe. Or, have the program abc.exe in the list of programs that will be shown in the context menu on the "Open With" option, for files with extension "xls".

  • Files apperaring/disappering from folder on share

    Windows Server 2008 R2 I have a folder H:\temp\folderName where H: is a file share under ADS on the server. I have "Full Control" permission on the folder. I can open the folder and see a file and/or a folder that is supposed there. If I try to drag/drop or Copy/Paste the file I get an error "Could not find this item. This is no longer in ...." But I can still see the file. Similar issue occur at command prompt. I cannot delete the folder. Delete actions run w/o error but the folder is still present. I was able to rename the folder. My guess is there are some cross link issues. Or? Does anyone recognize this syndrome? What is the proper next step to verify the file share?

    I've search the net for Linux's answer to something like Teracopy (Windows)... but could not find anything suitable. The closest things i got are: Krusader. Mentioned in their features but indicated as 'not implemented yet'. MiniCopier. A java based app http://a.courreges.free.fr/projets/minicopier/minicopier-en.php rsync is not an option. Can someone recommend me a simple file copy tool that can queue files for copy/move/delete? Preferably if I can drag and drop from Nautilus. If something like this does not exist, can someone please tell me why? ...am I the only person that needs something like this?

  • Keyboard that can't be removed (W8 CP)

    Somehow I ended up with four keyboards installed (English (United States), Japanese (Japan), Kannada, and Hindi. They are installed in the sense that the tray drop down displays these four, and when I ALT-SHIFT through my keyboards it cycles through them. The mysterious thing is that in the Languages Control Panel, only the first two are shown, so I am stuck as to how to remove the last two. In the past, I may have installed and removed the Kannada and Hindi keyboards. What I did recently was to install the English (India) keyboard, as a way to get the ability to input the rupee symbol with ALT-CTRL-4. That English (India) keyboard did show up in the Languages Control Panel and allow itself to be removed. It almost seems like installing that keyboard somehow activate hidden registry settings left over from back when I had Kannada and Hindi installed. In any case, any ideas about how to remove these keyboards which don't appear in the Language Control Panel?

    So i have a button drop down list that i want users to select a choice, and basically the button will return the users selection.Pretty straight forward, tested on jsFiddle and works great. Using ruby on rails btw, so i'm not sure if it might conflicting the way rails handle javascript actions.     thanks for reading. I'm creating a simple web based drawing app that uses speech recognition. I have created a simple page, the project is on github here: https://github.com/a5hton/speechdraw It has a 16x16 pixel grid. I would like to be able to draw on this grid by using simple words. For example if you say "right", the pixel to the right will be colored black. If you say "down" the pixel below the last one will be colored black. You can say up, down, left or right and the corresponding pixels will be colored. Saying "erase" will switch to erase mode, colouring the pixels back to their original color. Saying "lift" will lift the pen off the page. Saying "draw" will enable the draw mode. Could you please help me work out how to make this happen.   • Tomcat 7: Include virtual host definitions from a directory?

    I'm setting up a new Tomcat 7.0.33 server, and I'm looking for a simple way to include a directory full of virtual host definition XML files for configuration. I've found that it's possible to do XML includes from server.xml, but this requires a line in server.xml for each file, and is no less work than just having the entire config right in server.xml. I'm looking for something similar to Apache's Include directive. The end result I'm looking for is to have a directory I can drop an XML file into that Tomcat will pick up on the next restart, without having to modify server.xml. Is there a way to do this? Thanks!
