  • How to use the debugger with nested static libraries in XCode?

    - by EightyEight
Hi all, A project that I've inherited has the following structure: Project A produces a static library. Project B produces a static library and links with library A. Project C produces the executable and links with library B. When I run app in debug mode, I can successfully debug code within the executable (project C) and the static library from project B. I can't, however, debug anything in the Project A library -- my breakpoints are ignored. I've checked and made sure that debug symbols are enabled and not stripped. Is there something else I'm missing? Thanks

  • MPMoviePlayerController switching movies causes white flash

    - by bennythemink
Hi guys, I have a small UIView that displays a repeated movie. When the user taps a button another movie is loaded and displayed in the same UIView. The problem is that there is a half second "flash" between the removing of the first movie and the displaying of the second. Is there any to remove this? <code> - (void) setUpMovie:(NSString*)title { NSString *url = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:title ofType:@"mp4"]; MPMoviePlayerController *player = [[MPMoviePlayerController alloc] initWithContentURL:[NSURL fileURLWithPath:url]]; [[player view] setFrame:self.movieView.bounds]; [self.movieView addSubview:player.view]; if ([title isEqualToString:@"Bo_idle_02"]) { [player setRepeatMode:MPMovieRepeatModeOne]; } else { [player setRepeatMode:MPMovieRepeatModeNone]; } [player setControlStyle:MPMovieControlStyleNone]; [player play]; } - (void) startDanceAnimation { [self setUpMovie:@"Bo_dance_02"]; return; } </code>

  • Does NSKeyedUnarchiver autorelease?

    - by Lee Probert
I'm doing some archiving to a property list and when I unarchive my data using NSKeyedUnarchiver I find that my app crashes if I release the object afterward. I was wondering if the finishDecoding message also autoreleases the object. Seems weird that it crashes when I release it.

    - by Jamie L
    I checked using the debbuger in the viewDidLoad method and tracerTableView is 0x0 which i assume means it is nil. I don't understand. I should go ahaed say yes I have already checked my nib file and yes all the connections are correct. Here is the header file and the begging of the .m. ///////////// .h file //////////// @interface TrackerListController : UITableViewController { // The mutable (modifiable) dictionary days holds all the data for the days tab NSMutableArray *trackerList; UITableView *tracerTableView; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableArray *trackerList; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UITableView. *tracerTableView; //The addPackage: method is invoked when the user taps the addbutton created at runtime. -(void) addPackage : (id) sender; @end /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// ////////////////////////////////////// .m file ////////////////////////////////////// @implementation TrackerListController @synthesize trackerList, tracerTableView; (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; self.title = @"Package Tracker"; self.navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem = self.editButtonItem; UIBarButtonItem *addButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithBarButtonSystemItem:UIBarButtonSystemItemAdd target:self action:@selector(addPackage:)]; // Set up the Add custom button on the right of the navigation bar self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = addButton; [addButton release]; // Release the addButton from memory since it is no longer needed }

  • How to upload contents of a file to a UITextView?

    - by Mike Rychev
Hello! I have about twenty UITextViews and corresponding .txt files. What I want is to make each UITextView take the contents of the corresponding file and display it. Moreover, the text is formatted and it contains some formulas (copy/pasted from Grapher). I've heard about displaying formatted text in UIWebView, but I haven't found a clear explanation anywhere. Thanks in advance!

  • UIImagePickerController random behavior

    - by pion
I have the following code snippets: @interface PinRecordNewTableViewController : UITableViewController { } ... @implementation PinRecordNewTableViewController ... - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { ... PinRecordNewPicture *pinRecordNewPicture = [[PinRecordNewPicture alloc] initWithNibName:@"PinRecordNewPicture" bundle:nil]; pinRecordNewPicture.delegate = self; [self.navigationController pushViewController:pinRecordNewPicture animated:YES]; [pinRecordNewPicture release]; ... } @interface PinRecordNewPicture : UIViewController ... @implementation PinRecordNewPicture ... - (void)picturePicker:(UIImagePickerControllerSourceType)theSource { UIImagePickerController *picker = [[UIImagePickerController alloc] init]; picker.delegate = self; picker.sourceType = theSource; picker.allowsEditing = YES; [self presentModalViewController:picker animated:YES]; [picker release]; } - (IBAction) takePicture:(id)sender { UIImagePickerControllerSourceType source = UIImagePickerControllerSourceTypeCamera; if ([UIImagePickerController isSourceTypeAvailable:source]) { [self picturePicker:source]; } It works 80% of the time -- I could get the picture correctly. The problem is that it occasionally failed to take a picture. When tracing the code, I found out that it occasionally goes to -PinRecordNewTableViewController:viewDidUnload. This is where it fails because it set nil to all ivars. What did I do wrong? Did I miss something so it behaves "randomly"? Thanks in advance for your help.

  • How to make UIImagePickerController works under switch case UIActionSheet

    - by Phy
-(void)imagePickerController:(UIImagePickerController *)picker didFinishPickingMediaWithInfo:(NSDictionary *)info { UIImage *tempImage = [info objectForKey:UIImagePickerControllerOriginalImage]; imgview.image = tempImage; [self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; [picker release]; } -(void)imagePickerControllerDidCancel:(UIImagePickerController *)picker { [self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; [picker release]; } -(IBAction) calllib { img1 = [[UIImagePickerController alloc] init]; img1.delegate = self; img1.sourceType = UIImagePickerControllerSourceTypePhotoLibrary; [self presentModalViewController:img1 animated:YES]; } all the codes above works well for taking out photos from the photo library. problem is that when i tried to use it under the UIActionSheet it does not work. i just copy the lines of codes from the -(IBAction) calllib as follow. (void)actionSheet:(UIActionSheet *)actionSheet clickedButtonAtIndex:(NSInteger)buttonIndex { UIImage *detectface = [Utilities detectFace:imgview.image]; UIImage *grayscale = [Utilities grayscaleImage:imgview.image]; UIImage *avatars = [Utilities avatars:imgview.image]; img1 = [[UIImagePickerController alloc] init]; img1.delegate = self; img1.sourceType = UIImagePickerControllerSourceTypePhotoLibrary; switch (buttonIndex) { case 0: [self presentModalViewController:img1 animated:YES]; imgview.image = detectface; break; case 1: [self presentModalViewController:img1 animated:YES]; imgview.image = grayscale; break; case 2: [self presentModalViewController:img1 animated:YES]; imgview.image = avatars; break; default: break; } } it does not work. can somebody help me to figure out what is the problem? the switch case works perfectly without the [self presentModalViewController:img1 animated:YES]; ... thanks

  • Unable to store NSNumber in core data

    - by Kamlesh
Hi all, I am using Core Data in my application.I have an attribute named PINCode which has property Int64. Now,in my app I take the PIN code from a text field, convert it into NSNumber and try to store as an attribute value for an entity. But I am unable to do so.The exception that it shows on the console is:- Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: 'Unacceptable type of value for attribute: property = "PINCode"; desired type = NSNumber; given type = NSCFString; value = 121.' Here is the code:- (Conversion to NSNumber):- NSString *str= txtPINCode.text; NSNumber *num = [[NSNumber alloc]init]; int tempNum = [str intValue]; num = [NSNumber numberWithInt:tempNum]; (Storing in core data entity):- NSManagedObjectContext *context = [appDelegate managedObjectContext]; NSManagedObject *newContact; newContact = [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"MemberTable" inManagedObjectContext:context]; [newContact setValue:num forKey:@"PINCode"]; The app crashes at this point.I am unable to find the reason of crash.I have also tried to check the conversion by the following code:- NSNumber *testNumber = [[NSNumber alloc]init]; id test = num; BOOL testMe = [test isKindOfClass:(Class)testNumber]; Can anybody help me with this?? • selecting a row by means of a button ... using didSelectRowAtIndexPath

    - by John Smith
hey people , I have a question concerning a button I would like to create which selects my previous selected row. This is what I came up so far but since I'm new with the functionality and such I could definately use some pointers I created a toolbar with a button and behind this button is the following action. -(void)clickRow { selectedRow = [self.tableView indexPathForSelectedRow]; [self.tableView:[self tableView] didSelectRowAtIndexPath:selectedRow]; } in my didSelectRowAtIndexPath there is a rootViewController being pushed rvController = [RootViewController alloc] ...etc So what I would like is my function clickRow to select the row and push the new rootviewcontroller (which has the right info since I'm using a tree ). I tried something like this as well -(void)clickRow { NSDictionary *dictionary = [self.tableDataSource objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; NSArray *Children = [dictionary objectForKey:@"Children"]; rvController = [[RootViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"RootViewController" bundle:[NSBundle mainBundle]]; rvController.CurrentLevel += 1; rvController.CurrentTitle = [dictionary objectForKey:@"Title"]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:rvController animated:YES]; rvController.tableDataSource = Children; [rvController release]; } The last function works a little but a little is not enough;) For instance if I press the middle row or any other it constantly selects the toprow. thnx all for those of you reading and trying to help

  • COCOS2D - Animation Stops During Move

    - by maiko
Hey guys! I am trying to run a "Walk" style animation on my main game sprite. The animations work fine, and my sprite is hooked up to my joystick all fine and dandy. However, I think where I setup the call for my walk animations are wrong. Because everytime the sprite is moving, the animation stops. I know putting the animation in such a weak if statement is probably bad, but please tell me how I could get my sprite to animate properly while it is being moved by the joystick. The sprite faces the right direction, so I can tell the action's first frame is being called, however, it doesn't animate until I stop touching my joystick. Here is How I call the action: //WALK LEFT if (joypadCap.position.x <= 69 /*&& joypadCap.position.y < && joypadCap.position.y 40 */ ) { [tjSprite runAction:walkLeft]; }; //WALK RIGHT if ( joypadCap.position.x = 71 /* && joypadCap.position.y < 100 && joypadCap.position.y 40 */) { [tjSprite runAction:walkRight]; }; THIS: is the how the joystick controls the character: CGPoint newLocation = ccp(tjSprite.position.x - distance/8 * cosf(touchAngle), tjSprite.position.y - distance/8 * sinf(touchAngle)); tjSprite.position = newLocation; Please help. Any alternative ways to call the characters walk animation would be greatly appreciated!

  • -(void)dealloc - How ? Objective - C

    - by sagar
Please Note that - this is not similar than this question. OK. To understand my question, First of all please see both of these destructors. - (void)dealloc { [Marketdetails release]; Marketdetails=nil; [parsedarray release]; parsedarray=nil; [Marketid release]; Marketid=nil; [marketname release]; marketname=nil; [super dealloc]; } - (void)dealloc { [super dealloc]; [Marketdetails release]; Marketdetails=nil; [parsedarray release]; parsedarray=nil; [Marketid release]; Marketid=nil; [marketname release]; marketname=nil; } See, Both destructors have different code. In First Destructor first current class objects are released & then [super dealloc] is called. In second Desctructor first [super dealloc] is called. My question is as follows. Where should we write [super dealloc] ? first or last ? or it doesn't matter ?

  • EXC_BAD_ACCESS when trying to release an ABRecordRef

    - by synic
I've got the following class that is a wrapper around an ABPerson (ABRecordRef): @interface Recipient : NSObject { ABRecordRef person; } - (id)initWithPerson:(ABRecordRef)person; @end @implementation - (id)initWithPerson:(ABRecordRef)_person { if(self = [super init]) person = CFRetain(_person); return self; } - (void)dealloc { if(person) CFRelease(person); [super dealloc]; } @end I've left some of the methods out, but they aren't relevant to this question. Everything works fine, except I get an EXC_BAD_ACCESS on the if(person) CFRelease(person); line. Why does this happen? I'm not calling CFRelease or CFRetain at all anywhere else in my app.

  • How to get a reference to a control in the view?

    - by Kevin
If I have a UIScrollView set up in the view via the Interface Builder, how do I get a reference to it in the ViewController implementation? I want to programmatically add labels to the scroll view. For example, in C# if you have a textbox declared in the UI/form, you can access it by simply using the ID declared for that textbox. It doesn't seem this simple in objective c. Thanks Kevin

  • Seek backwards and forward in CAAnimation

    - by Vladimir
I'm trying to create a pseudo-movie player that shows layer's CAAnimation in my application. I've found a way to pause and resume animation (described in apple tech note), but can't find if it is possible to "seek" to arbitrary part of the animation, could anyone suggest what can be done here?

  • MKMapKit exception when using canShowCallout on annotation view

    - by Kendall Helmstetter Gelner
I'm trying to use a pretty straightforward custom map annotation view and callout - the annotation view when I create it, just adds a UIImageView as a subview to itself. That works fine. However, when I call canShowCallout on the annotation view, An exception is thrown in MapKit immediately after returning the view. The end of the stack looks like: #0 0x94e964e6 in objc_exception_throw #1 0x01e26404 in -[MKOverlayView _addViewForAnnotation:] #2 0x01e22037 in -[MKOverlayView _addViewsForAnnotations:animated:] #3 0x01e1ddf9 in -[MKOverlayView showAddedAnnotationsAnimated:] #4 0x01df9c0e in -[MKMapView _showAddedAnnotationsAndRouteAnimated:] #5 0x01e0371a in -[MKMapView levelView:didLoadTile:] My viewForAnnotation is pretty simple: - (MKAnnotationView *)mapView:(MKMapView *)mapView viewForAnnotation:(id <MKAnnotation>)annotation { if ( ! [annotation isKindOfClass:[MyAnnotation class]] ) return nil; MyAnnotationView *useView = (MyAnnotationView *)[myMapView dequeueReusableAnnotationViewWithIdentifier:@"resuseview"]; if ( useView == nil ) { useView = [[[MyAnnotationView alloc] initWithAnnotation:annotation reuseIdentifier:@"resuseview"] autorelease]; useView.canShowCallout = YES; // if commented out view appears just fine } else { useView.annotation = annotation; } return useView; } As noted in the code, the annotation view works fine as is - until I add canShowCallout, then it crashes the first time the map gets the view.

  • NSMutableArray: count is a method or a property?

    - by Rafael Oliveira
I want to verify if I'm in the last cell of the UITable. Should I use a NSInteger property in my controller and store the value of the count of the data (it's an NSMutableArray) that populates the table? I'm asking because I don't know if count iterates over all objects of the array to count or if it only gets me a value of a count property. What would be better ? store the value: myCount = [myArray count] use directly: [myArray count] store numberOfRows: myCount = numberOfRowsInSection:[indexPath 0] use numberOfRows directly: numberOfRowsInSection:[indexPath 0]
