  Hello colleagues! At first some precondition to my question, I'm using struts2 + tiles2 + toplink. NO spring at all. The simplest scenario - is to display list of entities on the page. To optimize resolving JPA's EntityManager I would like to create helper (JPAResourceBean) that implements lazy load of entity manager. For this purposes I'm going to use struts2's bean declaration: <bean name="myfactory" class="my.model.JPAResourceBean" scope="session" optional="false"/> Why bean is not instantiated neither in session? (I'm using s:property just for debug) ... <s:property value="#session.myfactory" default="buka.1"/> ... nor in plain bean list: ... <s:property value="#myfactory" default="buka.2"/> ... May be the second part of question is - how to resolve this bean from java code?

• How to mock the Request.ServerVariables using MOQ for ASP.NET MVC?

  hi guys, i'm just learning to put in unit testing for my asp.net mvc when i came to learn about the mock and the different frameworks there is out there now. after checking SO, i found that MOQ seems to be the easiest to pick up. as of now i'm stuck trying to mock the Request.ServerVariables, as after reading this post, i've learned that it's better to abstract them into property. as such: /// <summary> /// Return the server port /// </summary> protected string ServerPort { get { return Request.ServerVariables.Get("SERVER_PORT"); } } But i'm having a hard time learning how to properly mock this. • NHibernate.MappingException - Troubles Shooting Checklist (no persister for)

  Here's a starter list: 1) if hbm is hand generated, is it an embedded resource? 2) if using FNH, does it pass a PerssistenceSpecification test? 3) if not using FNH, can you save and then load the persisted class? 4) more? I'm sure many of you have gotten this one at one point or another. But have you ever gotten it when you knew your mapping was set up correctly? I started getting this exception after I started using a new repository design, but only in one scenario! PersistenceSpecification tests pass, as do all repository methods (using SQLite). The scenario that leads to the exception is when legacy projects from a different db are converted to green field system. The legacy system is from a different database and has it's own session factory, which should be irrelevant because the error comes after previously unconverted Projects are retrieved and in memory. As the routine tries to save these unconverted Projects into the new database, the exception is thrown, full stack trace below. Any ideas on how to build up the trouble shooting check list and solves this problem? • Difference between Apache Tapestry and Apache Wicket

  Apache Wicket ( http://wicket.apache.org/ ) and Apache Tapestry ( http://wicket.apache.org/ ) are both component oriented web frameworks - contrary to action based frameworks like Stripes - by the Apache Foundation. Both allow you to build your application from components in Java. They both look very similar to me. What are the differences between those two frameworks? Has someone experience in both? Specifically: How is their performance, how much can state handling be customized, can they be used stateless? What is the difference in their component model? What would you choose for which applications? How do they integrate with Guice, Spring, JSR 299? Edit: I have read the documentation for both and I have used both. The questions cannot be answered sufficently from reading the documentation, but from the experience from using these for some time, e.g. how to use Wicket in a stateless mode for high performance sites. • How to improve Java performance on Informix for Windows

  I have problem with performance of Java UDR functions on Informix on Windows. On this server I already have some functions in C and SPL. I chose one function to write it in those 3 languages and I measured performance of this function on test table. Function calculates some kind of checksum so it does not use any db libraries etc. only string and math operations. I observed performance on 30k records with SQL like: select function(txt) from _tmp_perf_test and I changed function to 'function_c, function_spl or function_java. My performance tests showed that C function is the fastest, SPL function is about 5 times slower, where Java is 100 (one hundred!) times slower than C. I checked it few times and 1:100 ratio didn't improve. I changed Java function to simply return length of the string but even this do not help so it looks, that there is general problem with Java function invocation, because there was no difference in time between Java function that calculate checksum and Java function that returns length of the string. I increased JVM_MAX_HEAP_SIZE to 128 and it not helped too. I use IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 11.50.TC6DE. The same test on Linux server: IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 11.50.FC6 show more "normal" results, i.e. Java is slower from C and SPL but only 2 to 5 times. What can I do to improve Java performance on Informix server on Windows? I can make other changes in my own test page and those are reflected for other classes in the datepicker. So, I'm not having any kind of path issue to the .js or .css files. What am I missing here? • Nested Object Forms not working as expected

  I'm trying to get a nested model forms view working. As far as I can tell I'm doing everything right, but it still does not work. I'm on Rails 3 beta 3. My models are as expected: class Recipe < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :ingredients, :dependent => :destroy accepts_nested_attributes_for :ingredients attr_accessible :name end class Ingredient < ActiveRecord::Base attr_accessible :name, :sort_order, :amount belongs_to :recipe end I can use Recipe.ingredients_attributes= as expected: recipe = Recipe.new recipe.ingredients_attributes = [ {:name=>"flour", :amount=>"1 cup"}, {:name=>"sugar", :amount=>"2 cups"}] recipe.ingredients.size # -> 2; ingredients contains expected instances However, I cannot create new object graphs using a hash of parameters as shown in the documentation: params = { :name => "test", :ingredients_attributes => [ {:name=>"flour", :amount=>"1 cup"}, {:name=>"sugar", :amount=>"2 cups"}] } recipe = Recipe.new(params) recipe.name # -> "test" recipe.ingredients # -> []; no ingredient instances in the collection Is there something I'm doing wrong here?   I have a jquery Image slider in a content page that worked fine. Once I converted it into a asp repeater the first image of the repeater would display twice, then run normally. Any idea on why the repeater is causing this? • Dynamically load Jquery into .js page

  Please excuse me if I'm simple here, I want to create a simple widget that people can access from their websites - e.g by copy/past something like <script language="javascript" src="test2.js"></script> <div id="test"></div> anywhere in their web pages. where is dynamically filled via Jquery and the functions in/on test2.js. I can do it if JQuery is actually "printed" on the page of test2.js, but I cannot get any JQuery functions to work if I try to include/call JQuery dynamically. How do you call JQuery via javascript and then get it to work with the functions on the page? And/Or is there an easy way to add the <div id="test"></div> dynamically aswell? Sure I can body.append etc. but that only adds at the bottom of the page. Is there a way to .append in the position where the script include <script language="javascript" src="test2.js"></script> is actually placed? Hope I make sence.

• JConsole does not connect when a program (running in eclipse) is waiting for a console input

  Hi, I have a problem similar to the one mentioned here. I have a program which launches a selenium browser and refreshes it every 2 seconds. My idea here was to monitor the memory usage of my application as the page is being hit. This console program does a "System.in.read" and when a user presses enter key, this stops the browser refresh thread. I run the program and it runs as I would expect it to. But when I fire jconsole and attach it to the process, it looks like jconsole waits forever to attach. This is because of the "System.in.read", apparently as shown in the JConsole source. In my code it makes perfect sense for me to terminte the browser when user presses something so is there any alternative available at all ? UPDATE 1: It seems this works fine when launching the class from a command line, however when I run from eclipse, jconsole cant connect. Any reasons ?

  I'm compiling my code via the following command: icc -ltbb test.cxx -o test Then when I run the program: time ./mp6 100 > output.modified Floating exception 4.871u 0.405s 0:05.28 99.8% 0+0k 0+0io 0pf+0w I get a "Floating exception". This following is code in C++ that I had before the exception and after: // before if (j < E[i]) { temp += foo(0, trr[i], ex[i+j*N]); } // after temp += (j < E[i])*foo(0, trr[i], ex[i+j*N]); This is boolean algebra... so (j < E[i]) is either going to be a 0 or a 1 so the multiplication would result either in 0 or the foo() result. I don't see why this would cause a floating exception. This is what foo() does: int foo(int s, int t, int e) { switch(s % 4) { case 0: return abs(t - e)/e; case 1: return (t == e) ? 0 : 1; case 2: return (t < e) ? 5 : (t - e)/t; case 3: return abs(t - e)/t; } return 0; } foo() isn't a function I wrote so I'm not too sure as to what it does... but I don't think the problem is with the function foo(). • Deploying .NET COM dll, getting error (0x80070002)

  I have a .NET COM assembly I am attempting to deploy to a web server (IIS 6 Win 2003). We have successfully deployed this assembly to our test environment, but the production environment is not working. The assembly is being called from a classic ASP page. Every time that page tries to initialize the assembly with “Set LTMRender = CreateObject("LTMRender.Render")”, I get an error “Error Type:, (0x80070002)”. This error seems to indicate a permission denied, or file not found type problem. I created a test app to see if the assembly works outside of the web page. The .exe initializes the assembly, and then makes a call designed to fail which in turn causes the assembly to produce a log file. It works if I run the .exe in the same folder as the assembly, but fails if I run it elsewhere. For some reason, the assembly is not accessible from outside it’s folder. I can’t figure out why this won’t work. Things I have confirmed: The deployment folder has adequate permissions. We have confirmed that the folder the assembly in installed in has the correct permissions for all the necessary user accounts. The Assembly is signed with a strong name, and was registered with regasm.exe C:_WebSites\LTMRender\LTMRender.dll /codebase /tlb:C:_WebSites\LTMRender\LTMRender.tlb. Regasm reported success. The Assembly has the attribute and relevant GUID’s set correctly. Any tips? EDIT We ran filemon against my testapp.exe and it seems to have indicated what the problem is. When testapp.exe runs in D:_websites\DocWebV2\ or D:_websites\DocWebV2\ LTMRender\ folder, it succeeds and filemon is showing D:_websites\DocWebV2\LTMRender\pinPDF.dll SUCCESS If I run my testapp.exe in the D:_websites\DocWebV2\Client – where my asp pages run, it shows D:_websites\DocWebV2\pinPDF.dll NAME NOT FOUND and then D:_websites\DocWebV2\pinPDF\pinPDF.dll FILE NOT FOUND I’m not sure why it is not looking in the correct folder if it’s under this particular folder only.

  I try to write a simple Ajax client to send and receive messages. It's successfully deployed but I have never received msg from the client. I am beating myself to think out what I am missing, but still can't make it work.   I thought values entered in forms are properly encoded by browsers.   I'm writing a SQL Server 2008 report that will compare genetic test results for animals. A genetic test consists of an animalId, a gene and a result. Not all animals will have the same genes tested but I need to be able to display the results side-by-side for a given set of animals and only include the genes that are present for at least one of the selected animals. My TestResult table has the following data in it: animalId gene result 1 a CC 1 b CT 1 d TT 2 a CT 2 b CT 2 c TT 3 a CT 3 b TT 3 c CC 3 d CC 3 e TT I need to generate a result set that looks like the following. Note that Animal 3 is not being displayed (user doesn't want to see its results) and neither are results for Gene "e" since neither Animal 1 nor Animal 2 have a result for that gene: SireID SireResult CalfID CalfResult Gene 1 CC 2 CT a 1 CT 2 CT b 1 NULL 2 TT c 1 TT 2 NULL d But I can only manage to get this: SireID SireResult CalfID CalfResult Gene 1 CC 2 CT a 1 CT 2 CT b NULL NULL 2 TT c 1 TT NULL NULL d This is the query I'm using.
