  • General website publishing questions involving domain forwarding issue

    - by Gorgeousyousuf
    Even though I have been having a certain level of knowledge and experience about web development I have never interested in obtaining a domain and publishing a website from my own server. Since today I have been struggling with getting my own domain and configuring it utilizing web sources. I started with learning the outline of web publishing process including web server installation, deploying a website for testing purpose,router port forwarding, getting a domain and forwarding domain to my router which will also forward http requests to my web server I am confused about some parts and so far could not get the web site accessed from outside of the network. All I try to do is just for learning purpose so I do not pay much attention to security issues for now. I have Server 2008 and IIS 7.5 installed. I use a laptop and have access to the modem over wireless and my modem is Zoom x6 5590. Well I will continue explaining what I have done so far and what I think will be after each action I did, I have successfully had access to my website on any local computer entering the internal ip address and port pair of the host machine in a browser. Next, I forwarded port 80 of my host machine creating a virtual server like 10.0.0.x(internal ip(static) of the host) - tcp - start port : 80 - end port : 80 in router options. Now I suppose every request that will come to the public Ip on port 80 will be forwarded to my host machine(10.0.0.x) over port 80. So If everyhing went as desired, the website listening on port 80 will accept the request and process the issue and finally respond bla bla bla... I suppose to access my website from outside of the network by entering http://MyPublicIp:80 in a browser but I couldn't accomplish this task by now despite using godady's domain forwarding tool,I see a small view of my website when I click the "preview" button that checks whether the address(http://publicip/Index.aspx) I entered where my domain will be forwarded is available or not. I am sure that configuring domain does not play a role in solving such a problem since using public ip and port matching does not help. So here is the first question, What is the fact that I face this problem? After that, I have couple of question regarding domain forwarding using godaddy tool. Can I forward my domain to a any port for example port 8080 other than default http port 80? Additionally, can I use a sub-domain to forward to a different port of the host? What I want to design is if the client enters www.mydomain.com, website1 will respond over a specified port and after when a client enters info.mydomain.com, another website which listens on different port will respond. I tried to add a sub-domain and forward it to a address like http://www.mydomain.com:8080/Index.aspx with no success. Can I really do that? Finally, what if I have a ftp site listening on the default port 21 and I create a domain like ftp.mydomain.com that will forward to that ftp site address. Is it possible to use sub-domains for ftp site access? I know I am more than confused but no matter whatever and however you reply to me, you will help me have a more clear view on this subject. Thank you very much from now.

  • How do you setup an gsp snippet in grails and with spring-security-core?

    - by egervari
    Hi, I have a block of gsp I'd like to reuse and make into a little gsp snippet: <sec:ifLoggedIn> <g:link controller="user" action="showProfile">My Profile</g:link> | <g:link controller="privateMessage" action="list">Inbox</g:link> | <g:link controller="user" action="showPreferences">Preferences</g:link> | <g:link controller="logout" action="index">Logout</g:link> </sec:ifLoggedIn> <sec:ifNotLoggedIn> <form id="loginForm" action="/myproject/j_spring_security_check" method="POST"> <fieldset> <input type='text' name='j_username' id='username' size="15" /> <input type='password' name='j_password' id='password' size="15" /> <input type="submit" value="Login" class="button" /> <a href="#">Register</a> </fieldset> </form> </sec:ifNotLoggedIn> I have learned that I can use g:render template="_loginStuff" to merge the template in with the rest of the markup. However, doing so with Spring Security results in an error: java.lang.NullPointerException at   • How to sanely configure security policy in Tomcat 6

    - by Chas Emerick
    I'm using Tomcat 6.0.24, as packaged for Ubuntu Karmic. The default security policy of Ubuntu's Tomcat package is pretty stringent, but appears straightforward. In /var/lib/tomcat6/conf/policy.d, there are a variety of files that establish default policy. Worth noting at the start: I've not changed the stock tomcat install at all -- no new jars into its common lib directory(ies), no server.xml changes, etc. Putting the .war file in the webapps directory is the only deployment action. the web application I'm deploying fails with thousands of access denials under this default policy (as reported to the log thanks to the -Djava.security.debug="access,stack,failure" system property). turning off the security manager entirely results in no errors whatsoever, and proper app functionality What I'd like to do is add an application-specific security policy file to the policy.d directory, which seems to be the recommended practice. I added this to policy.d/100myapp.policy (as a starting point -- I would like to eventually trim back the granted permissions to only what the app actually needs): grant codeBase "file:${catalina.base}/webapps/ROOT.war" { permission java.security.AllPermission; }; grant codeBase "file:${catalina.base}/webapps/ROOT/-" { permission java.security.AllPermission; }; grant codeBase "file:${catalina.base}/webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF/-" { permission java.security.AllPermission; }; grant codeBase "file:${catalina.base}/webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF/lib/-" { permission java.security.AllPermission; }; grant codeBase "file:${catalina.base}/webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF/classes/-" { permission java.security.AllPermission; }; Note the thrashing around attempting to find the right codeBase declaration. I think that's likely my fundamental problem. Anyway, the above (really only the first two grants appear to have any effect) almost works: the thousands of access denials are gone, and I'm left with just one. Relevant stack trace: java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.io.FilePermission /var/lib/tomcat6/webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF/classes/com/foo/some-file-here.txt read) java.security.AccessControlContext.checkPermission(AccessControlContext.java:323) java.security.AccessController.checkPermission(AccessController.java:546) java.lang.SecurityManager.checkPermission(SecurityManager.java:532) java.lang.SecurityManager.checkRead(SecurityManager.java:871) java.io.File.exists(File.java:731) org.apache.naming.resources.FileDirContext.file(FileDirContext.java:785) org.apache.naming.resources.FileDirContext.lookup(FileDirContext.java:206) org.apache.naming.resources.ProxyDirContext.lookup(ProxyDirContext.java:299) org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader.findResourceInternal(WebappClassLoader.java:1937) org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader.findResource(WebappClassLoader.java:973) org.apache.catalina.loader.WebappClassLoader.getResource(WebappClassLoader.java:1108) java.lang.ClassLoader.getResource(ClassLoader.java:973) I'm pretty convinced that the actual file that's triggering the denial is irrelevant -- it's just some properties file that we check for optional configuration parameters. What's interesting is that: it doesn't exist in this context the fact that the file doesn't exist ends up throwing a security exception, rather than java.io.File.exists() simply returning false (although I suppose that's just a matter of the semantics of the read permission). Another workaround (besides just disabling the security manager in tomcat) is to add an open-ended permission to my policy file: grant { permission java.security.AllPermission; }; I presume this is functionally equivalent to turning off the security manager. I suppose I must be getting the codeBase declaration in my grants subtly wrong, but I'm not seeing it at the moment.

  • CrossPage PostBack in series of web pages

    - by Vishnu Reddy
    I had a requirement to pass data between pages in my application. I have a Page A where user will input some data and on submit User will be redirected to Page B where again user will enter some more data and on submitting user will be show a confirmation in Page C after doing some calculations and data saving. Following is the idea I was trying to use: PageA.aspx: <form id="frmPageA" runat="server"> <p>Name: <asp:TextBox ID="txtName" runat="server"></asp:TextBox></p> <p>Age: <asp:TextBox ID="txtAge" runat="server"></asp:TextBox></p> <p><asp:Button ID="btnPostToPageB" runat="server" Text="Post To PageB" PostBackUrl="~/PageB.aspx" /></p> </form> In Page A Codebehind file I am creating following public properties of the inputs to access in Page B: public string Name { get { return txtName.Text.ToString(); } } public int Age { get { return Convert.ToInt32(txtAge.Text); } } In PageB.aspx: using previouspage directive to access page A public properties <%@ PreviousPageType VirtualPath="~/PageA.aspx" % <form id="frmPageB" runat="server"> <asp:HiddenField ID="hfName" runat="server" /> <asp:HiddenField ID="hfAge" runat="server" /> <p><asp:RadioButtonList ID="rblGender" runat="server" TextAlign="Right" RepeatDirection="Horizontal"> <asp:ListItem Value="Female">Female</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem Value="Male">Male</asp:ListItem> </asp:RadioButtonList></p> <p><asp:Button ID="btnPostToPageC" runat="server" Text="Post To PageC" PostBackUrl="~/PageC.aspx" /></p> </form> In Page B Codebehind file I am creating following public properties for the inputs to access in Page C: public RadioButtonList Gender { get { return rblGender; } } public string Name { get { return _name; } } public int Age { get { return _age; } } //checking if data is posted from Page A otherwise redirecting User to Page A protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (PreviousPage != null && PreviousPage.IsCrossPagePostBack && PreviousPage.IsValid) { hfName.Value = PreviousPage.Name; hfAge.Value = PreviousPage.Age.ToString(); } else Response.Redirect("PageA.aspx"); }` in PageC.aspx: using previouspage directive to access page A public properties <%@ PreviousPageType VirtualPath="~/PageB.aspx" % <form id="frmPageC" runat="server"> <p>Name: <asp:Label ID="lblName" runat="server"></asp:Label></p> <p>Age: <asp:Label ID="lblAge" runat="server"></asp:Label></p> <p>Gender: <asp:Label ID="lblGender" runat="server"></asp:Label></p> <p><asp:Button ID="btnBack" runat="server" Text="Back" PostBackUrl="~/PageA.aspx" /></p> </form> Page C code behind file: if (PreviousPage != null && PreviousPage.IsCrossPagePostBack && PreviousPage.IsValid) { lblName.Text = PreviousPage.Name.ToString(); lblAge.Text = PreviousPage.Age.ToString(); lblGender.Text = PreviousPage.Gender.SelectedValue.ToString(); } else Response.Redirect("PageA.aspx");

  • How does versioning work when using Boost Serialization for Derived Classes?

    - by Venkata Adusumilli
    When a Client serializes the following data: InternationalStudent student; student.id("Client ID"); student.firstName("Client First Name"); student.country("Client Country"); the Server receives the following: ID = "Client ID" Country = "Client First Name" instead of the following: ID = "Client ID" Country = "Client Country" The only difference between the Server and Client classes is the First Name of the Student. How can we make the Server ignore First Name recieved from the Client and process the Country? Server Side Classes class Student { public: Student(){} virtual ~Student(){} public: std::string id() { return idM; } void id(std::string id) { idM = id; } protected: friend class boost::serialization::access; protected: std::string idM; protected: template<class A> void serialize(A& archive, const unsigned int /*version*/) { archive & BOOST_SERIALIZATION_NVP(idM); } }; class InternationalStudent : public Student { public: InternationalStudent() {} ~InternationalStudent() {} public: std::string country() { return countryM; } void country(std::string country) { countryM = country; } protected: friend class boost::serialization::access; protected: std::string countryM; protected: template<class A> void serialize(A& archive, const unsigned int /*version*/) { archive & BOOST_SERIALIZATION_NVP(boost::serialization::base_object<Student>(*this)); archive & BOOST_SERIALIZATION_NVP(countryM); } }; Client Side Classes class Student { public: Student(){} virtual ~Student(){} public: std::string id() { return idM; } void id(std::string id) { idM = id; } std::string firstName() { return firstNameM; } void firstName(std::string name) { firstNameM = name; } protected: friend class boost::serialization::access; protected: std::string idM; std::string firstNameM; protected: template<class A> void serialize(A& archive, const unsigned int /*version*/) { archive & BOOST_SERIALIZATION_NVP(idM); if (version >=1) { archive & BOOST_SERIALIZATION_NVP(firstNameM); } } }; BOOST_CLASS_VERSION(Student, 1) class InternationalStudent : public Student { public: InternationalStudent() {} ~InternationalStudent() {} public: std::string country() { return countryM; } void country(std::string country) { countryM = country; } protected: friend class boost::serialization::access; protected: std::string countryM; protected: template<class A> void serialize(A& archive, const unsigned int /*version*/) { archive & BOOST_SERIALIZATION_NVP(boost::serialization::base_object<Student>(*this)); archive & BOOST_SERIALIZATION_NVP(countryM); } };

  • Logging Errors with messages in Codeigniter

    - by user1260776
    I’m using codeigniter on a production server, and I’m not able to properly log the errors generated to the file. I edited php.ini like this- error_reporting = E_ALL | E_NOTICE | E_STRICT|E_WARNING display_errors = Off log_errors = On error_log = "/var/log/php-scripts.log" // This is where I would like to log all the errors and notices.. And php-scripts.log is able to show the logs like this- [06-Jun-2012 03:22:20 UTC] PHP Deprecated: Directive 'safe_mode' is deprecated in PHP 5.3 and greater in Unknown on line 0 [06-Jun-2012 03:26:06 UTC] PHP Deprecated: Directive 'safe_mode' is deprecated in PHP 5.3 and greater in Unknown on line 0 [06-Jun-2012 03:30:05 UTC] PHP Deprecated: Directive 'safe_mode' is deprecated in PHP 5.3 and greater in Unknown on line 0 [06-Jun-2012 03:30:07 UTC] PHP Deprecated: Directive 'safe_mode' is deprecated in PHP 5.3 and greater in Unknown on line 0 [06-Jun-2012 03:30:11 UTC] PHP Deprecated: Directive 'safe_mode' is deprecated in PHP 5.3 and greater in Unknown on line 0 Now, the “index.php” settings in my “public_html” folder, (i’ve rest of CI folder outside public_html) I’ve these settings- define('ENVIRONMENT', 'production'); if (defined('ENVIRONMENT')) { switch (ENVIRONMENT) { case 'development': error_reporting(E_ALL); break; case 'testing': case 'production': error_reporting(0); break; default: exit('The application environment is not set correctly.'); } } Though everything seems to be fine, now, I’ll just change Environment to “development”, this is what I get on my website homepage- A PHP Error was encountered Severity: Warning Message: fclose() expects parameter 1 to be resource, null given Filename: core/Common.php Line Number: 91 A PHP Error was encountered Severity: Warning Message: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/theuser/codeigniter/system/core/Exceptions.php:185) Filename: core/Security.php Line Number: 188 The “rest” of the page is also displayed. And when I look at php-scripts.log, I’m not able to see any of these logs there- [06-Jun-2012 03:22:20 UTC] PHP Deprecated: Directive ‘safe_mode’ is deprecated in PHP 5.3 and greater in Unknown on line 0 [06-Jun-2012 03:26:06 UTC] PHP Deprecated: Directive ‘safe_mode’ is deprecated in PHP 5.3 and greater in Unknown on line 0 [06-Jun-2012 03:30:05 UTC] PHP Deprecated: Directive ‘safe_mode’ is deprecated in PHP 5.3 and greater in Unknown on line 0 [06-Jun-2012 03:30:07 UTC] PHP Deprecated: Directive ‘safe_mode’ is deprecated in PHP 5.3 and greater in Unknown on line 0 [06-Jun-2012 03:30:11 UTC] PHP Deprecated: Directive ‘safe_mode’ is deprecated in PHP 5.3 and greater in Unknown on line 0 [06-Jun-2012 03:30:45 UTC] PHP Deprecated: Directive ‘safe_mode’ is deprecated in PHP 5.3 and greater in Unknown on line 0 [06-Jun-2012 03:37:41 UTC] PHP Deprecated: Directive ‘safe_mode’ is deprecated in PHP 5.3 and greater in Unknown on line 0 One more thing is I don’t know how/where codeigniter itself would log all the errors. The permissions of “application/logs” folder is “777”, but there is no log file (I was expecting that CodeIgniter would automatically create a log file, should I create one, if I’ve to log errors there). I’ve set these configurations in config/config.php $config['log_threshold'] = 4; $config['log_path'] = ''; //hoping it would log errors at "default" location... Ideally, I just wish all those errors, warning, and notices (with messages) that were displayed on my webpage were sent to log-file /var/log/php-scripts.log when the “Environment” is “Production”. If it’s not possible, I would also be fine, If i can log it somewhere else. Now, I’m confused as to what should be the settings in the “index.php” page or some other configuration, so as to supress all the errors and warnings on the webpage when environment is "Production", and send all those errors, warnings, and notices to php-scripts.log. (or any other file) my php version is PHP 5.3.13 with Suhosin v0.9.33 Please help me with this. Thank you

  • drupal_get_form is not passing along node array

    - by ElectronicBlacksmith
    I have not been able to get drupal_get_form to pass on the node data. Code snippets are below. The drupal_get_form documentation (api.drupal.org) states that it will pass on the extra parameters. I am basing the node data not being passed because (apparently) $node['language'] is not defined in hook_form which causes $form['qqq'] not to be created and thus the preview button shows up. My goal here is that the preview button show up using path "node/add/author" but doesn't show up for "milan/author/add". Any alternative methods for achieving this goal would be helpful but the question I want answered is in the preceding paragraph. Everything I've read indicates that it should work. This menu item $items['milan/author/add'] = array( 'title' = 'Add Author', 'page callback' = 'get_author_form', 'access arguments' = array('access content'), 'file' = 'author.pages.inc', ); calls this code function get_author_form() { //return node_form(NULL,NULL); //return drupal_get_form('author_form'); return author_ajax_form('author'); } function author_ajax_form($type) { global $user; module_load_include('inc', 'node', 'node.pages'); $types = node_get_types(); $type = isset($type) ? str_replace('-', '_', $type) : NULL; // If a node type has been specified, validate its existence. if (isset($types[$type]) && node_access('create', $type)) { // Initialize settings: $node = array('uid' = $user-uid, 'name' = (isset($user-name) ? $user-name : ''), 'type' = $type, 'language' = 'bbb','bbb' = 'TRUE'); $output = drupal_get_form($type .'_node_form', $node); } return $output; } And here is the hook_form and hook_form_alter code function author_form_author_node_form_alter(&$form, &$form_state) { $form['author']=NULL; $form['taxonomy']=NULL; $form['options']=NULL; $form['menu']=NULL; $form['comment_settings']=NULL; $form['files']=NULL; $form['revision_information']=NULL; $form['attachments']=NULL; if($form["qqq"]) { $form['buttons']['preview']=NULL; } } function author_form(&$node) { return make_author_form(&$node); } function make_author_form(&$node) { global $user; $type = node_get_types('type', $node); $node = author_make_title($node); drupal_set_breadcrumb(array(l(t('Home'), NULL), l(t($node-title), 'node/' . $node-nid))); $form['authorset'] = array( '#type' = 'fieldset', '#title' = t('Author'), '#weight' = -50, '#collapsible' = FALSE, '#collapsed' = FALSE, ); $form['author_id'] = array( '#access' = user_access('create pd_recluse entries'), '#type' = 'hidden', '#default_value' = $node-author_id, '#weight' = -20 ); $form['authorset']['last_name'] = array( '#type' = 'textfield', '#title' = t('Last Name'), '#maxlength' = 60, '#default_value' = $node-last_name ); $form['authorset']['first_name'] = array( '#type' = 'textfield', '#title' = t('First Name'), '#maxlength' = 60, '#default_value' = $node-first_name ); $form['authorset']['middle_name'] = array( '#type' = 'textfield', '#title' = t('Middle Name'), '#maxlength' = 60, '#default_value' = $node-middle_name ); $form['authorset']['suffix_name'] = array( '#type' = 'textfield', '#title' = t('Suffix Name'), '#maxlength' = 14, '#default_value' = $node-suffix_name ); $form['authorset']['body_filter']['body'] = array( '#access' = user_access('create pd_recluse entries'), '#type' = 'textarea', '#title' = 'Describe Author', '#default_value' = $node-body, '#required' = FALSE, '#weight' = -19 ); $form['status'] = array( '#type' = 'hidden', '#default_value' = '1' ); $form['promote'] = array( '#type' = 'hidden', '#default_value' = '1' ); $form['name'] = array( '#type' = 'hidden', '#default_value' = $user-name ); $form['format'] = array( '#type' = 'hidden', '#default_value' = '1' ); // NOTE in node_example there is some addition code here not needed for this simple node-type $thepath='milan/author'; if($_REQUEST["theletter"]) { $thepath .= "/" . $_REQUEST["theletter"]; } if($node['language']) { $thepath='milan/authorajaxclose'; $form['qqq'] = array( '#type' = 'hidden', '#default_value' = '1' ); } $form['#redirect'] = $thepath; return $form; } That menu path coincides with this theme (PHPTemplate)

  • Is this a right way to use NHibernate?

    - by Venemo
    I spent the rest of the evening reading StackOverflow questions and also some blog entries and links about the subject. All of them turned out to be very helpful, but I still feel that they don't really answer my question. So, I'm developing a simple web application. I'd like to create a reusable data access layer which I can later reuse in other solutions. 99% of these will be web applications. This seems to be a good excuse for me to learn NHibernate and some of the patterns around it. My goals are the following: I don't want the business logic layer to know ANYTHING about the inner workings of the database, nor NHibernate itself. I want the business logic layer to have the least possible number of assumptions about the data access layer. I want the data access layer as simplistic and easy-to-use as possible. This is going to be a simple project, so I don't want to overcomplicate anything. I want the data access layer to be as non-intrusive as possible. Will all this in mind, I decided to use the popular repository pattern. I read about this subject on this site and on various dev blogs, and I heard some stuff about the unit of work pattern. I also looked around and checked out various implementations. (Including FubuMVC contrib, and SharpArchitecture, and stuff on some blogs.) I found out that most of these operate with the same principle: They create a "unit of work" which is instantiated when a repository is instantiated, they start a transaction, do stuff, and commit, and then start all over again. So, only one ISession per Repository and that's it. Then the client code needs to instantiate a repository, do stuff with it, and then dispose. This usage pattern doesn't meet my need of being as simplistic as possible, so I began thinking about something else. I found out that NHibernate already has something which makes custom "unit of work" implementations unnecessary, and that is the CurrentSessionContext class. If I configure the session context correctly, and do the clean up when necessary, I'm good to go. So, I came up with this: I have a static class called NHibernateHelper. Firstly, it has a static property called CurrentSessionFactory, which upon first call, instantiates a session factory and stores it in a static field. (One ISessionFactory per one AppDomain is good enough.) Then, more importantly, it has a CurrentSession static property, which checks if there is an ISession bound to the current session context, and if not, creates one, and binds it, and it returns with the ISession bound to the current session context. Because it will be used mostly with WebSessionContext (so, one ISession per HttpRequest, although for the unit tests, I configured ThreadStaticSessionContext), it should work seamlessly. And after creating and binding an ISession, it hooks an event handler to the HttpContext.Current.ApplicationInstance.EndRequest event, which takes care of cleaning up the ISession after the request ends. (Of course, it only does this if it is really running in a web environment.) So, with all this set up, the NHibernateHelper will always be able to return a valid ISession, so there is no need to instantiate a Repository instance for the "unit of work" to operate properly. Instead, the Repository is a static class which operates with the ISession from the NHibernateHelper.CurrentSession property, and exposes some functionality through that. I'm curious, what do you think about this? Is it a valid way of thinking, or am I completely off track here?

  • Resizing Images In a Table Using JavaScript

    - by Abluescarab
    Hey, all. I apologize beforehand if none of this makes sense, or if I sound incompetent... I've been making webpages for a while, but don't know any JavaScript. I am trying to make a webpage for a friend, and he requested if I could write some code to resize the images in the page based on the user's screen resolution. I did some research on this question, and it's kind of similar to this, this, and this. Unfortunately, those articles didn't answer my question entirely because none of the methods described worked. Right now, I have a three-column webpage with 10 images in a table in the left sidebar, and when I use percentages for their sizes, they don't resize right between monitors. As such, I'm trying to write a JavaScript function that changes their sizes after detecting the screen resolution. The code is stripped from my post if I put it all, so I'll just say that each image links to a website and uses a separate image to change color when you hover over it. Would I have to address both images to change their sizes correctly? I use a JavaScript function to switch between them. Anyway, I tried both methods in this article and neither worked for me. If it helps, I'm using Google Chrome, but I'm trying to make this page as cross-browser as possible. Here's the code I have so far in my JavaScript function: function resizeImages() { var w = window.width; var h = window.height; var yuk = document.getElementById('yuk').style; var wb = document.getElementById('wb').style; var tf = document.getElementById('tf').style; var lh = document.getElementById('lh').style; var ko = document.getElementById('ko').style; var gz = document.getElementById('gz').style; var fb = document.getElementById('fb').style; var eg = document.getElementById('eg').style; var dl = document.getElementById('dl').style; var da = document.getElementById('da').style; if (w = "800" && h = "600") { } else if (w = "1024" && h = "768") { } else if (w = "1152" && h = "864") { } else if (w = "1280" && h = "720") { } else if (w = "1280" && h = "768") { } else if (w = "1280" && h = "800") { } else if (w = "1280" && h = "960") { } else if (w = "1280" && h = "1024") { } } Yeah, I don't have much in it because I don't know if I'm doing it right yet. Is this a way I can detect the "width" and "height" properties of a window? The "yuk", "wb", etcetera are the images I'm trying to change the size of. To sum it up: I want to resize images based on screen resolution using JavaScript, but my research attempts have been... futile. I'm sorry if that was long-winded, but thanks ahead of time!

  • Symfony 1.4/ Doctrine; n-m relation data cannot be accessed in template (indexSuccess)

    - by chandimak
    I have a database with 3 tables. It's a simple n-m relationship. Student, Course and StudentHasCourse to handle n-m relationship. I post the schema.yml for reference, but it would not be really necessary. Course: connection: doctrine tableName: course columns: id: type: integer(4) fixed: false unsigned: false primary: true autoincrement: false name: type: string(45) fixed: false unsigned: false primary: false notnull: false autoincrement: false relations: StudentHasCourse: local: id foreign: course_id type: many Student: connection: doctrine tableName: student columns: id: type: integer(4) fixed: false unsigned: false primary: true autoincrement: false registration_details: type: string(45) fixed: false unsigned: false primary: false notnull: false autoincrement: false name: type: string(30) fixed: false unsigned: false primary: false notnull: false autoincrement: false relations: StudentHasCourse: local: id foreign: student_id type: many StudentHasCourse: connection: doctrine tableName: student_has_course columns: student_id: type: integer(4) fixed: false unsigned: false primary: true autoincrement: false course_id: type: integer(4) fixed: false unsigned: false primary: true autoincrement: false result: type: string(1) fixed: true unsigned: false primary: false notnull: false autoincrement: false relations: Course: local: course_id foreign: id type: one Student: local: student_id foreign: id type: one Then, I get data from tables in executeIndex() from the following query. $q_info = Doctrine_Query::create() ->select('s.*, shc.*, c.*') ->from('Student s') ->leftJoin('s.StudentHasCourse shc') ->leftJoin('shc.Course c') ->where('c.id = 1'); $this->infos = $q_info->execute(); Then I access data by looping through in indexSuccess.php. But, in indexSuccess I can only access data from the table Student. <?php foreach ($infos as $info): ?> <?php echo $info->getId(); ?> <?php echo $info->getName(); ?> <?php endforeach; ?> I expected, that I could access StudentHasCourse data and Course data like the following. But, it generates an error. <?php echo $info->getStudentHasCourse()->getResult()?> <?php echo $info->getStudentHasCourse()->getCourse()->getName()?> The first statement gives a warning; Warning: call_user_func_array() expects parameter 1 to be a valid callback, class 'Doctrine_Collection' does not have a method 'getCourse' in D:\wamp\bin\php\php5.3.5\PEAR\pear\symfony\escaper\sfOutputEscaperObjectDecorator.class.php on line 64 And the second statement gives the above warning and the following error; Fatal error: Call to a member function getName() on a non-object in D:\wamp\www\sam\test_doc_1\apps\frontend\modules\registration\templates\indexSuccess.php on line 5 When I check the query from the Debug toolbar it appears as following and it gives all data I want. SELECT s.id AS s__id, s.registration_details AS s__registration_details, s.name AS s__name, s2.student_id AS s2__student_id, s2.course_id AS s2__course_id, s2.result AS s2__result, c.id AS c__id, c.name AS c__name FROM student s LEFT JOIN student_has_course s2 ON s.id = s2.student_id LEFT JOIN course c ON s2.course_id = c.id WHERE (c.id = 1) Though the question is short, as all the information mentioned it became so long. It's highly appreciated if someone can help me out to solve this. What I require is to access the data from StudentHasCourse and Course. If those data cannot be accessed by this design and this query, any other methodology is also appreciated.

  • MVC Persist Collection ViewModel (Update, Delete, Insert)

    - by Riccardo Bassilichi
    In order to create a more elegant solution I'm curios to know your suggestion about a solution to persist a collection. I've a collection stored on DB. This collection go to a webpage in a viewmodel. When the go back from the webpage to the controller I need to persist the modified collection to the same DB. The simple solution is to delete the stored collection and recreate all rows. I need a more elegant solution to mix the collections and delete not present record, update similar records ad insert new rows. this is my Models and ViewModels. public class CustomerModel { public virtual string Id { get; set; } public virtual string Name { get; set; } public virtual IList<PreferredAirportModel> PreferedAirports { get; set; } } public class AirportModel { public virtual string Id { get; set; } public virtual string AirportName { get; set; } } public class PreferredAirportModel { public virtual AirportModel Airport { get; set; } public virtual int CheckInMinutes { get; set; } } // ViewModels public class CustomerViewModel { [Required] public virtual string Id { get; set; } public virtual string Name { get; set; } public virtual IList<PreferredAirporViewtModel> PreferedAirports { get; set; } } public class PreferredAirporViewtModel { [Required] public virtual string AirportId { get; set; } [Required] public virtual int CheckInMinutes { get; set; } } And this is the controller with not elegant solution. public class CustomerController { public ActionResult Save(string id, CustomerViewModel viewModel) { var session = SessionFactory.CurrentSession; var customer = session.Query<CustomerModel>().SingleOrDefault(el => el.Id == id); customer.Name = viewModel.Name; // How cai I Merge collections handling delete, update and inserts ? var modifiedPreferedAirports = new List<PreferredAirportModel>(); var modifiedPreferedAirportsVm = new List<PreferredAirporViewtModel>(); // Update every common Airport foreach (var airport in viewModel.PreferedAirports) { foreach (var custPa in customer.PreferedAirports) { if (custPa.Airport.Id == airport.AirportId) { modifiedPreferedAirports.Add(custPa); modifiedPreferedAirportsVm.Add(airport); custPa.CheckInMinutes = airport.CheckInMinutes; } } } // Remove common airports from ViewModel modifiedPreferedAirportsVm.ForEach(el => viewModel.PreferedAirports.Remove(el)); // Remove deleted airports from model var toDelete = customer.PreferedAirports.Except(modifiedPreferedAirports); toDelete.ForEach(el => customer.PreferedAirports.Remove(el)); // Add new Airports var toAdd = viewModel.PreferedAirports.Select(el => new PreferredAirportModel { Airport = session.Query<AirportModel>(). SingleOrDefault(a => a.Id == el.AirportId), CheckInMinutes = el.CheckInMinutes }); toAdd.ForEach(el => customer.PreferedAirports.Add(el)); session.Save(customer); return View(); } } My environment is ASP.NET MVC 4, nHibernate, Automapper, SQL Server. • Make c# matrix code faster

    - by Wam
    Hi all, Working on some matrix code, I'm concerned of performance issues. here's how it works : I've a IMatrix abstract class (with all matrices operations etc), implemented by a ColumnMatrix class. abstract class IMatrix { public int Rows {get;set;} public int Columns {get;set;} public abstract float At(int row, int column); } class ColumnMatrix : IMatrix { private data[]; public override float At(int row, int column) { return data[row + columns * this.Rows]; } } This class is used a lot across my application, but I'm concerned with performance issues. Testing only read for a 2000000x15 matrix against a jagged array of the same size, I get 1359ms for array access agains 9234ms for matrix access : public void TestAccess() { int iterations = 10; int rows = 2000000; int columns = 15; ColumnMatrix matrix = new ColumnMatrix(rows, columns); for (int i = 0; i < rows; i++) for (int j = 0; j < columns; j++) matrix[i, j] = i + j; float[][] equivalentArray = matrix.ToRowsArray(); TimeSpan totalMatrix = new TimeSpan(0); TimeSpan totalArray = new TimeSpan(0); float total = 0f; for (int iteration = 0; iteration < iterations; iteration++) { total = 0f; DateTime start = DateTime.Now; for (int i = 0; i < rows; i++) for (int j = 0; j < columns; j++) total = matrix.At(i, j); totalMatrix += (DateTime.Now - start); total += 1f; //Ensure total is read at least once. total = total > 0 ? 0f : 0f; start = DateTime.Now; for (int i = 0; i < rows; i++) for (int j = 0; j < columns; j++) total = equivalentArray[i][j]; totalArray += (DateTime.Now - start); } if (total < 0f) logger.Info("Nothing here, just make sure we read total at least once."); logger.InfoFormat("Average time for a {0}x{1} access, matrix : {2}ms", rows, columns, totalMatrix.TotalMilliseconds); logger.InfoFormat("Average time for a {0}x{1} access, array : {2}ms", rows, columns, totalArray.TotalMilliseconds); Assert.IsTrue(true); } So my question : how can I make this thing faster ? Is there any way I can make my ColumnMatrix.At faster ? Cheers !

  • Geolocation through Android's GPS Provider on a website?

    - by Corey Ogburn
    I'm trying to get the geolocation of the mobile device in a regular website, not a webview of an application or anything native like that. I'm getting a location, but it's highly inaccurate, the accuracy comes back as 3230 or some other outrageous number. I'm assuming that's in meters, either way it's not nearly accurate enough. By comparison, the same webpage on a laptop gets an accuracy of 30-40. My first thought was that it was using the Network Provider instead of the GPS Provider, telling me where I am based on tower location and reach. A little research later I found enableHighAccuracy and set it true in the options that I pass. After including that, I still notice no difference. Here's the test page's HTML/javascript: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ecn.dev.virtualearth.net/mapcontrol/mapcontrol.ashx?v=7.0"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.3/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> function OnLoad() { $("#Status").text("Init"); if (navigator.geolocation) { $("#Status").text("Supports Geolocation"); navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition(HandleLocation, LocationError, { enableHighAccuracy: true }); $("#Status").text("Sent position request..."); } else { $("#Status").text("Doesn't support geolocation"); } } function HandleLocation(position) { $("#Status").text("Received response:"); $("#Position").text("(" + position.coords.latitude + ", " + position.coords.longitude + ") accuracy: " + position.coords.accuracy); var loc = new Microsoft.Maps.Location(position.coords.latitude, position.coords.longitude); GetMap(loc); } function LocationError(error) { switch(error.code) { case error.PERMISSION_DENIED: alert("Location not provided"); break; case error.POSITION_UNAVAILABLE: alert("Current location not available"); break; case error.TIMEOUT: alert("Timeout"); break; default: alert("unknown error"); break; } } function GetMap(loc) { var map = new Microsoft.Maps.Map(document.getElementById("mapDiv"), {credentials: "Aj59meaCR1e7rNgkfQy7j08Pd3mzfP1r04hGesGmLe2a3ZwZ3iGecwPX2SNPWq5a", center: loc, mapTypeId: Microsoft.Maps.MapTypeId.road, zoom: 15}); } </script> </head> <body onload="javascript:OnLoad()"> <div id="Status"></div> <div id="Position"></div><br/> <div id='mapDiv' style="position:relative; width:600px; height:400px;"></div> </body> </html> I'm testing this on a rooted MyTouch 3G running Cyanogen 6.1 stable, Android 2.2 and GPS is enabled. In case rooting was a problem, I have also had various friends and coworkers try the webpage on their non-rooted 2.0+ Android devices. Each phone had various effects on the accuracy, but none were better than 1000, I attribute this to the different carriers. I have not (but eventually will) tested with iPhone or other location-aware cell phones.

  • PHP setting cookies in a child class

    - by steve
    I am writing a custom session handler and for the life of me I cannot get a cookie to set in it. I'm not outputting anything to the browser before I set the cookie but it still doesn't work. Its killing me. The cookie will set if I set it in the script I define and call on the session handler with. If necessary I will post code. Any ideas people? <?php /* require the needed classes comment out what is not needed */ require_once("classes/sessionmanager.php"); require_once("classes/template.php"); require_once("classes/database.php"); $title=" "; //titlebar of the web browser $description=" "; $keywords=" "; //meta keywords $menutype="default"; //default or customer, customer is elevated $pagetitle="dflsfsf "; //title of the webpage $pagebody=" "; //body of the webpage $template=template::def_instance(); $database=database::def_instance(); $session=sessionmanager::def_instance(); $session->sessions(); session_start(); ?> and this is the one that actually sets the cookie for the session function write($session_id,$session_data) { $session_id = mysql_real_escape_string($session_id); $session_data = mysql_real_escape_string(serialize($session_data)); $expires = time() + 3600; $user_ip = $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']; $bol = FALSE; $time = time(); $newsession = FALSE; $auth = FALSE; $query = "SELECT * FROM 'sessions' WHERE 'expires' > '$time'"; $sessions_result = $this->query($query); $newsession = $this->newsession_check($session_id,$sessions_result); while($sessions_array = mysql_fetch_array($sessions_result) AND $auth = FALSE) { $session_array = $this->strip($session_array); $auth = $this->auth_check($session_array,$session_id); } /* this is an authentic session. build queries and update it */ if($auth = TRUE AND $newsession = FALSE) { $session_data = mysql_real_escape_string($session_data); $update_query1 = "UPDATE 'sessions' SET 'user_ip' = '$user_ip' WHERE 'session_id' = '$session_id'"; $update_query2 = "UPDATE 'sessions' SET 'data' = '$session_data' WHERE 'session_id = '$session_id'"; $update_query3 = "UPDATE 'sessions' SET 'expires' = '$expires' WHERE 'session_id' = '$session_id'"; $this->query($update_query1); $this->query($update_query2); $this->query($update_query3); $bol = TRUE; } elseif($newsession = TRUE) { /* this is a new session, build and create it */ $random_number = $this->obtain_random(); $cookieval = hash("sha512",$random_number); setcookie("rndn",$cookieval); $query = "INSERT INTO sessions VALUES('$session_id','0','$user_ip','$random_number','$session_data','$expires')"; $this->query($query); //echo $cookieval."this is the cookie <<"; $bol = TRUE; } return $bol; }

  • Why ((Integer) weightModel.getObject()).intValue(); throws exception

    I am learning Wicket by "Enjoying Web Development with Wicket" book. And in an example: int weight = ((Integer) weightModel.getObject()).intValue(); is used. • PowerShell Script to Deploy Multiple VM on Azure in Parallel #azure #powershell

    - by Marco Russo (SQLBI)
    This blog is usually dedicated to Business Intelligence and SQL Server, but I didn’t found easily on the web simple PowerShell scripts to help me deploying a number of virtual machines on Azure that I use for testing and development. Since I need to deploy, start, stop and remove many virtual machines created from a common image I created (you know, Tabular is not part of the standard images provided by Microsoft…), I wanted to minimize the time required to execute every operation from my Windows Azure PowerShell console (but I suggest you using Windows PowerShell ISE), so I also wanted to fire the commands as soon as possible in parallel, without losing the result in the console. In order to execute multiple commands in parallel, I used the Start-Job cmdlet, and using Get-Job and Receive-Job I wait for job completion and display the messages generated during background command execution. This technique allows me to reduce execution time when I have to deploy, start, stop or remove virtual machines. Please note that a few operations on Azure acquire an exclusive lock and cannot be really executed in parallel, but only one part of their execution time is subject to this lock. Thus, you obtain a better response time also in these scenarios (this is the case of the provisioning of a new VM). Finally, when you remove the VMs you still have the disk containing the virtual machine to remove. This cannot be done just after the VM removal, because you have to wait that the removal operation is completed on Azure. So I wrote a script that you have to run a few minutes after VMs removal and delete disks (and VHD) no longer related to a VM. I just check that the disk were associated to the original image name used to provision the VMs (so I don’t remove other disks deployed by other batches that I might want to preserve). These examples are specific for my scenario, if you need more complex configurations you have to change and adapt the code. But if your need is to create multiple instances of the same VM running in a workgroup, these scripts should be good enough. I prepared the following PowerShell scripts: ProvisionVMs: Provision many VMs in parallel starting from the same image. It creates one service for each VM. RemoveVMs: Remove all the VMs in parallel – it also remove the service created for the VM StartVMs: Starts all the VMs in parallel StopVMs: Stops all the VMs in parallel RemoveOrphanDisks: Remove all the disks no longer used by any VMs. Run this script a few minutes after RemoveVMs script. • Minimize Windows Live Mail to the System Tray in Windows 7

    - by Asian Angel
    Are you frustrated that you can not minimize Windows Live Mail to the system tray in Windows 7? With just a few tweaks you can make Live Mail minimize to the system tray just like in earlier versions of Windows. Windows Live Mail in Windows Vista In Windows Vista you could minimize Windows Live Mail to the system tray if desired using the context menu… Windows Live Mail in Windows 7 In Windows 7 you can minimize the app window but not hide it in the system tray. The Hide window when minimized menu entry is missing from the context menu and all you have is the window icon taking up space in your taskbar. How to Add the Context Menu Entry Back Right click on the program shortcut(s) and select properties. When the properties window opens click on the compatibility tab and enable the Run this program in compatibility mode for setting. Choose Windows Vista (Service Pack 2) from the drop-down menu and click OK. Once you have restarted Windows Live Mail you will have access to the Hide window when minimized menu entry again. And just like that your taskbar is clear again when Windows Live Mail is minimized. If you have wanted the ability to minimize Windows Live Mail to the system tray in Windows 7 then this little tweak will fix the problem. • sshfs with fstab: connection reset by peer

    - by user171348
    I am trying to allow my laptop (Ubuntu 13.04) to access my PC (Lubuntu 13.04) hard drive through SSHFS. I'm using RSA keys to connect. It works perfectly fine if I type this in the terminal: sshfs my-PC:/a_folder /media/a_folder But I would like it to be mounted automatically when I boot my laptop. So I added myself to the fuse group: sudo adduser mynickname fuse And I added the following line to my fstab file: sshfs#mynickname@my-PC:/a_folder /media/a_folder fuse defaults,idmap=user,_netdev 0 0 When I boot the laptop, a_folder appears in the list of devices, but is not mounted. When I try to access it through Nautilus, it displays the following error: mount: only root can mount sshfs#mynickname@my-PC:/a_folder on /media/a_folder I get the same error if I try mount /media/a_folder in a terminal. If I try sudo mount /media/a_folder I get read: Connection reset by peer I tried to add "allow_other" as an option in the fstab entry, and uncommented the related line in /etc/fuse.conf, but it didn't change anything. The user "mynickname" is the owner of the folder /media/a_folder and has rwx permissions. I looked at many threads on the internet about people with quite similar issues, but nothing worked so far. Usually, people can't even do sshfs my-PC:/a_folder /media/a_folder without getting an error, whereas this works fine on my laptop. Any insight and tips will be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

  • IE 11 Developer Tools - changing console target to a different frameset or iframe

Everything is so much easier in Chrome. No drama. Sometimes I feel that I hate IE more and more. Reference (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ie/dn255006(v=vs.85).aspx#console_in):All script entered in the command line executes in the global scope of the currently selected window. If your webpage is built with a frameset or iframes, those frames load their own documents in their own windows.To target the window of a frameset frame or an iframe, use the cd() command, with the frame/iframe's name or ID attribute as the argument. For example, you have a frame with the name microsoftFrame and you're loading the Microsoft homepage in it.JavaScriptcd(microsoftFrame); Current window: www.microsoft.com/en-us/default.aspx Important  Note that there were no quotes around the name of the frame. Only pass the unquoted name or ID value as the parameter.To return to the top level window, use cd() with no argument.

  • OpenGL extension vs OpenGL core

    - by user209347
    I was doubting: I'm writing a cross-platform engine OpenGL C++, I figured out windows forces the developers to access OpenGL features above 1.1 through extensions. Now the thing is, on Linux, I know that I can directly access functions if the version supports it through glext.h and opengl version. The problem is that if on Linux, the core doesn't support it, is it possible there is an extensions that supports the same functionality, in my case vertex buffer objects? I'm doing something like this: Windows: (hashdeck) define glFunction functionpointer_to_the_extension (apparently the layout changes font size if I use #) Linux: Since glext already defined glFunction, I can write in client code glFunction, and compile it both on Windows AND Linux without changing a single line in my client code using the engine (my goal). Now the thing is, I saw a tutorial use only the extension on Linux, and not checking for the opengl implementation version. If the functionality is available in the core, is it also available as extension (VBO's e.g.)? Or is an extension something you never know is available? I want to write an engine that gets all the possibilities on hardware, so I need to check (on Linux) for extensions as well as core version for possible functionality implementation.
