    I have the following simple SQL statment SELECT id, name, value_name, value_id FROM table GROUP BY id ORDER BY value_id DESC when grouping I would like to get the value_name and value_id of the tuple where the value_id is the biggest. The way it is i am getting the smallest value. For example 1, name1, valuename, 3 (where i know that there is a value_id of 5) Can you please help?

    I have a table of data as follows id status conversation_id message_id date_created 1 1 1 72 2012-01-01 00:00:00 2 2 1 87 2012-03-03 00:00:00 3 2 2 95 2012-05-05 00:00:00 I want to get all the rows from the table in date_created DESC order, but only one row per conversation_id. So in the case of the example data above, I would want to get the rows with id 2 and 3. Any advice is much appreciated.

  • How to pass an int value on UIButton click inside UITableView

    So I have a view controller with a single UITableView that shows a string to the user. But I needed a way to have the user select this object by id using a normal UIButton so I added it as a subview and the click event works as expected. The issue is this - how can I pass an int value to this click event? I've tried using attributes of the button like button.tag or button.accessibilityhint without much success. How do the professionals pass an int value like this? Also it's important that I can get the actual [x intValue] from the int later in the process. A while back I thought I could do this with a simple NSLog(@"the actual selected hat was %d", [obj.idValue intValue]); But this doesn't appear to work (any idea how I can pull the actual int value directly from the variable?).     I have a list of items stored in the DB, simplified schema is like this: id, parent, name I need to generate a tree structure (in a form of a multi-dimensional array) that can be infinite levels deep. Top level items would have parent = 0. Next level down would have parent equal to the the id of the parent item, fairly straight forward. What would be the best way to do this, while consuming as little resources as possible?

    I have a simple query over a table, which returns results like the following: id id_type id_ref 2702 5 31 2702 16 14 2702 17 3 2702 40 1 2702 26 4 And I would like to merge the results into a single row, for instance: id concatenation 2702 5,16,17,40,26:31,14,3,1,4 Is there any way to do this within a trigger? NB: I know I can use a cursor, but I would really prefer not to unless there is no better way.

    I am playing with custom view and routes. I think that I have everything right but obviously not. Essentially I tried to copy the show method and show.html.erb but for some reason it will not work.
