• Can't select View Content dropdown when adding view in MVC using Interfaces

  I have my Model defined externally in two projects - a Core project and an Interface project. I am opening the Add View dialogue from my controller, and selecting Create a strongly typed view. In the drop down list, I can select the concrete types like MyProject.Model.Core.OrderDetails, but the interface types like MyProject.Model.Interface.IOrderDetails aren't there. I can type the interface class in manually and everything works, but then the View content menu that lets you select the Create, Delete, List, etc scaffolding is disabled. Is there some problem with using interfaces in MVC? Or is it something else I'm missing?

• Can't connect to HTTPS using X509 client certificate

  Hi - I'm new to cryptography and I'm a bit stuck: I'm trying to connect (from my development environment) to a web service using HTTPS. The web service requires a client certificate - which I think I've installed correctly. They have supplied me with a .PFX file. In Windows 7, I double clicked the file to install it into my Current User - Personal certificate store. I then exported a X509 Base-64 encoded .cer file from the certificate entry in the store. It didn't have a private key associate with it. Then, in my app, I'm attempting to connect to the service like this: var certificate = X509Certificate.CreateFromCertFile("xyz.cer")); var serviceUrl = "https://xyz"; var request = (HttpWebRequest) WebRequest.Create(serviceUrl); request.ClientCertificates.Add(certificate); request.Method = WebRequestMethods.Http.Post; request.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded"; I get a 502 Connection failed when I connect. Is there anything you can see wrong with this method? Our production environment seems to work with a similar configuration, but it's running Windows Server 2003. Thanks!

• Web form is not updating tables, why?

  I have a web application and on page is an update page to update some profile information. Below is the code I am using to update the table. But I think it is wrong. Does anything stick out? The connection string works cause it is used to read the database to get the profile information, I just removed it due to it containing password/login info for the db. player is the class of properties that contains player information and ds is the dataset, but I would like to update the database itself online... • Chart Control Inside SSRS ReportViewer is Viewable From Localhost But Not Internet

  A project I own was just moved from an older server to a new one, and in the process of moving the web folder, re-deploying the SSRS reports, restoring the database, configuring IIS, etc... I have lost the ability to view the Microsoft Chart Controls that are embedded in the SSRS reports, that are then displayed by a Microsoft.ReportViewer. I could view them both locally and remotely (via the internet) on the old server. I can view them if I preview the SSRS report in Visual Studio. The report displays fine, only missing all the embedded charts. I can still view them locally through the web browser, just not from the internet. What am I missing? I tried giving permissions to the ChartImageHandler temp storage folder, but it didn't work. I'm getting the Javascript error: Error: ClientReport380ec8ca0c294a809e9986c1bef9db1c is undefined

  In the intent of preventing XSS attacks, I am updating a page in which we have a textbox that accepts HTML, stores it in a database and retrieves and renders it at a later time. My understanding is that I can sanitize the HTML using AntiXSS.GetSafeHtmlFragment() method. As long as I do this before storing the HTML in the database, am I covered? Do I need to do anything when the HTML is outputted on a web page? Also, it appears that the white list is kind of a black box. Is there a way to update this based on our requirements?

  I am trying to create a UserControl that is a composite control for entering Dates. It involves 2 drop down controls (one for month and one for day) and a text box for year. It also has a CustomValidation control that I would like the user of the UserControl to be able to set the ClientValidationFunction property and have it triggered whenever the value in any of the 3 date part controls changes. To hook up each of the 3 controls to the validation control, I use teh AJAX ValidatorHookupControlID method. • Problems using FluentNHibernate + SQLite with .NET4?

  I have a WPF application running with VS2010 .Net3.5 using Nhibernate with FluentNHibernate + SQLite, and all works fine. Now I want to change to use .Net4, but this has turned into a more painful experience then I expected.. When setting up the connection a FluentConfigurationException is thrown from FluentConfiguration.BuildConfiguration saying: An invalid or incomplete configuration was used while creating a SessionFactory. Check PotentialReasons collection, and InnerException for more details. The inner exception gives us more information: Could not create the driver from NHibernate.Driver.SQLite20Driver, NHibernate, Version=2.1.2.4000, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=aa95f207798dfdb4. It has an InnerException again: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. Which again has an InnerException: The IDbCommand and IDbConnection implementation in the assembly System.Data.SQLite could not be found. Ensure that the assembly System.Data.SQLite is located in the application directory or in the Global Assembly Cache. If the assembly is in the GAC, use element in the application configuration file to specify the full name of the assembly. Now - to me it sounds like it doesn't find System.Data.SQLite.dll, but I can't understand this. Everywhere this is referenced I have "Copy Local", and I have verified that it is in every build folder for projects using SQLite. I have also copied it manually to every Debug folder of the solution - without luck. Notes: This is exactly the same code that worked just fine before I upgraded to .Net4. I did see some x64 x86 mismatch problems earlier, but I have switched to use x86 as the target platform and for all referenced dlls. I have verified that all files in the Debug-folder are x86. I have tried the precompiled Fluent dlls, I have tried compiling myself, and I have compiled my own version of Fluent using .Net4. I see that there are also others that have seen this problem, but I haven't really seen any solution yet. After @devio's answer I tried adding a reference to the SQLite dll. This didn't change anything, but I hope I made it right though..   I was just editing some C# code between <% %> tags in an .ascx file, and I noticed that the Refactor contextual menu is unavailable. And even if I manually add items from this menu to a custom toolbar, they are disabled when viewing aspx/ascx files. I usually only have small snippets of C# code in my aspx/ascx files, but it would still be nice to be able to perform refactoring operations on any code that exists between <% %> tags. I feel like I'm going back to the dark ages when I have to use find/replace to change the name of a variable. Questions Is there a way to enable Visual Studio's refactoring features while viewing aspx/ascx files in Visual Studio? Are there any Visual Studio plug-ins (preferably free) that offer this kind of functionality?

  Hey, As explained in the title, I am having a problem with getting the URL of the page being executed from within a page. Basically I have a dynamic catalogue, where customers select products they are interested in. The manager of the company I am doing this for would like to be able to create an up to date offline catalogue at any given time, to send out to customers who dont have an internet connection. So far its going really well. I am using Server.Execute to get the content for each page, then putting it in static html pages and changing the dynamic links to static html links (ie changing all aspx links to htm). I am able to output all the pages for about us, contact us, home, and the entire catalogue. However, one of the stylesheets which is included in the page based on the URL (if the page is in the administration section then it is not included, otherwise it is) is not being included in the pages when it should be. I have tried outputting the URL but it just returns the URL of the calling page, not the page being called. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? Any help would be greatly appreciated. • How to html encode the output of an NHaml view (or any MVC view)?

  I have several views written in NHaml that I would like to render as encoded html. Here's one. %table.data %thead %tr %th Country Name %th ISO 2 %th ISO 3 %th ISO # %tbody - foreach(var c in ViewData.Model.Countries) %tr %td =c.Name %td =c.Alpha2 %td =c.Alpha3 %td =c.Number I know that NHaml provides syntax to Html encode the output for given lines using &=. However, in order to encode the entire view, I would essentially lose the benefit of writing my view in NHaml since it would have to look like this.... &= "<table class='data'> &= " <thead> So I was wondering if there was any cool way to be able to capture the rendered view as a string, then to html encode that string. Maybe something like the following??? public ContentResult HtmlTable(string format) { var m = new CountryViewModel(); m.Countries = _countryService.GetAll(); // Somehow render the view and store it as a string? // Not sure how to achieve this. var viewHtml = View("HtmlTable", m); // ??? return Content(viewHtml); } This question may actually have no particular relevance to the View engine that I am using I guess. Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.

• Create table from a business object with conditional layout

  I need to generate a table from a List(Of Students). My Student class has properties for AcademicYear, TeachingSet, Surname and Forenames, is sorted in that order and also properties for ID and start date. The table should nest TeachingSets within AcademicYears and then the students within the TeachingSets, as shown in the table I've mocked up at http://www.ifslearning.ac.uk/files/student-table.jpg Using a repeater I get 08-10 students B74394 Mzejb Bsppn 08-10 students B74395 Lbuifsjof Bvti 08-10 students C68924 Epoob Cmpblf 08-10 students D41468 Ipxbse Dbwfz But I need to have 08-10 students - B74394 Mzejb Bsppn - B74395 Lbuifsjof Bvti - C68924 Epoob Cmpblf - D41468 Ipxbse Dbwfz
