  • Why don't all XSLT templates get executed at once?

    - by Matt W
Refer to: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1613454/retrieving-one-element-and-filter-by-another In the above linked posting, I don't understand why the two template blocks don't get executed upon in the incoming XML at the same time. As far I can can see, the XSL risks the second template executing for every Document element whether it is called with apply-templates or not. Could someone explain this to my stifled brain, please? Thanks, Matt.

  • How do I use the information about exceptions a method throws in .NET in my code?

    - by dotnetdev
For many methods in .NET, the exceptions they can potentially throw can be as many as 7-8 (one or two methods in XmlDocument, Load() being one I think, can throw this many exceptions). Does this mean I have to write 8 catch blocks to catch all of these exceptions (it is best practise to catch an exception with a specific exception block and not just a general catch block of type Exception). How do I use this information? Thanks

  • 2to3 fixer to convert try .. except .. block

    - by Sridhar Ratnakumar
I have a Python2 project with lots of try .. except .. blocks like this: try: [...] except SomeException, e: # do something with `e` To port them all to Python 3 (and still have the code run Python =2.6), I have to manually change each and every one of them to the following: try: [...] except SomeException, e: _, e, _ = sys.exc_info() # do something with `e` Can this be automated using 2to3? If so, how?

  • macro function in libcurl which return the libcurl version

    - by Mohamed KALLEL
I m developing a c program using libcurl. when I build my program I can use different version of libcurl. When I change from version to other (of libcurl) I have to change some blocks in my source code to adapt it to the libcurl version. I'm looking to add macro in my code which will check the libcurl version and then determine which block of source code to use automatically Are there a macro function or constant in libcurl which return the libcurl version?

  • Creating a list of lists with consecutive numbers

    - by Henrik
I am looking for a convenient way to create a list of lists for which the lists within the list have consecutive numbers. So far I only came up with a very unsatisfying brute-typing force solution (yeah right, I just use python for a few weeks now): block0 = [] ... block4 = [] blocks = [block0,block1,block2,block4] I appreciate any help that works with something like nrBlocks = 4.

  • PL/SQL Logical Operators evaluate whole function

    - by Chris
I know in C like languages logical operators are evaluated one at a time so: false && really_expensive_function() is doesn't result in the function being called (I can't remember the CS name for this). Does the same happen in PL/SQL or do I need to break the IF parts out to separate blocks?

  • Alternate three and three rows in a table with jQuery

    - by Frode Lillerud
I want to set the alternate background color for rows in a table - but the twist is that I don't want every other row to be colored, I want to treat them in blocks of three rows. So for a table with eight rows I want the first three to be white, then the next three to have a background color, and the last two are back to white again. How can I do this using jQuery?

  • Strange behavior with gcc inline assembly

    - by Chris
    When inlining assembly in gcc, I find myself regularly having to add empty asm blocks in order to keep variables alive in earlier blocks, for example: asm("rcr $1,%[borrow];" "movq 0(%[b_],%[i],8),%%rax;" "adcq %%rax,0(%[r_top],%[i],8);" "rcl $1,%[borrow];" : [borrow]"+r"(borrow) : [i]"r"(i),[b_]"r"(b_.data),[r_top]"r"(r_top.data) : "%rax","%rdx"); asm("" : : "r"(borrow) : ); // work-around to keep borrow alive ... Another example of weirdness is that the code below works great without optimizations, but with -O3 it seg-faults: ulong carry = 0,hi = 0,qh = s.data[1],ql = s.data[0]; asm("movq 0(%[b]),%%rax;" "mulq %[ql];" "movq %%rax,0(%[sb]);" "movq %%rdx,%[hi];" : [hi]"=r"(hi) : [ql]"r"(ql),[b]"r"(b.data),[sb]"r"(sb.data) : "%rax","%rdx","memory"); for (long i = 1; i < b.size; i++) { asm("movq 0(%[b],%[i],8),%%rax;" "mulq %[ql];" "xorq %%r10,%%r10;" "addq %%rax,%[hi];" "adcq %%rdx,%[carry];" "adcq $0,%%r10;" "movq -8(%[b],%[i],8),%%rax;" "mulq %[qh];" "addq %%rax,%[hi];" "adcq %%rdx,%[carry];" "adcq $0,%%r10;" "movq %[hi],0(%[sb],%[i],8);" "movq %[carry],%[hi];" "movq %%r10,%[carry];" : [carry]"+r"(carry),[hi]"+r"(hi) : [i]"r"(i),[ql]"r"(ql),[qh]"r"(qh),[b]"r"(b.data),[sb]"r"(sb.data) : "%rax","%rdx","%r10","memory"); } asm("movq -8(%[b],%[i],8),%%rax;" "mulq %[qh];" "addq %%rax,%[hi];" "adcq %%rdx,%[carry];" "movq %[hi],0(%[sb],%[i],8);" "movq %[carry],8(%[sb],%[i],8);" : [hi]"+r"(hi),[carry]"+r"(carry) : [i]"r"(long(b.size)),[qh]"r"(qh),[b]"r"(b.data),[sb]"r"(sb.data) : "%rax","%rdx","memory"); I think it has to do with the fact that it's using so many registers. Is there something I'm missing here or is the register allocation just really buggy with gcc inline assembly?

  • Concurrent Linked HashMap java

    - by Nilesh
Please help me use/create Concurrent LinkedHashMap. As per my belief, if I use Collections.synchronizedMap(), I would have to use synchronized blocks for getter/setter. If I use ConcurrentSkipListMap, is there any way to implement a Comparator to store sequentially. I would like to use java's built in instead of third party packages. Thanks

  • SQLAlchemy - select for update example

    - by Mark
I'm looking for a complete example of using select for update in SQLAlchemy, but haven't found one googling. I need to lock a single row and update a column, the following code doesn't work (blocks forever): s = table.select(table.c.user=="test",for_update=True) u = table.update().where(table.c.user=="test") u.execute(email="foo") Do I need a commit? How do I do that? As far as I know you need to: begin transaction select ... for update update commit

  • High-level languages for out-of-the-box GUI desktop application programming

    - by Omeoe
After I discontinued programming in C++ while entering into web authoring I was spoilt by PHP's high level constructs like hash tables or its dynamic, weak typing. I remembered the angst of C/C++ pointers and the maze of low-level Win32 API handles and message loops and that prevented me from utilizing environments like Code::Blocks for desktop applications. I am also not very fond of bulky, statically-typed C#/.NET environment. Any other ideas?

  • how to create box with sliding linked images

    - by paracaudex
Where can I read more about creating linked slides like at the top of nytimes.com, slate.com, yahoo.com, nyu.edu, etc. I assume it's javascript, but I'm not sure what it's called, so I'm not sure how to look it up. I want to create a box at the top of a website with blocks of html text which slide in sequence if the user clicks next or after a certain amount of time. Where can I read more about this?

  • Double paging definition

    - by Albinoswordfish
This is not a programming question but more of an operating system question Right now I'm trying to learn what exactly Double paging means. I see two different terms, double paging on disk and double paging in memory. Apparently this problem arises when we introduce a buffer cache to store disk blocks when doing File I/O But I'm not really sure what exactly this term means. If anybody could specify it would be very helpful.

  • Mixing garbage collected framework with normal code

    - by shw
I know my way around Objective-C and I have experience with garbage collection from .NET, although I never used it in objective-c. I write my code without using it. Now I'm thinkig about using one of the frameworks (Blocks) which is available as GC-only. My question is - can I still use the framework without any changes to my current non-GC code and without using GC myself?

  • Adsense in FireFox not showing

    - by Jeroen
hi, I came accross something very strange when i was testing my pages in FireFox. The Adsense blocks are commented out (green) in firefox. It does render however properly when i paste all the rendered code in a blank aspx page in the same project without using masterpage. http://picpaste.com/problem.jpg Here's a picture of the problem. As you can see on one of the pages the script code is green. How is that possible?
