How to calculate the state of a graph?

Given a graph G=(V,E), each node i is associated with 'Ci' number of objects. At each step, for every node i, the Ci objects will be taken away by the neighbors of i equally. After K steps, output the number of objects of the top five nodes which has the most objects. Some Constrains: |V|<10^5, |E|<2*10^5, K<10^7, Ci<1000 My current idea is: represent the transformation in each step with a matrix. This problem is converted to the calculation of the power of matrix. But this solution is much too slow considering |V| can be 10^5. Is there any faster way to do it?

Hello, I'm developing an application for windows mobile 6.5. Im writing the code in c#.net and want to send sms due to my app. I checked out the POOM and sms sending worked fine. Code: SmsMessage msg = new SmsMessage(); msg.To.Add(receiver); msg.Body = messageText; msg.Send(); But there's one problem. I want that the messages will be saved/copied to the "send messages" folder, after my program has sent them. How can I realize that. RFC822 Timezone Parsing in Java

Hi, I have a JS date that is being converted by Dojo into RFC822 format. The function call - dojo.date.toRfc3339(jsDate), generates the following date - 2007-02-26T20:15:00+02:00. I have an application that uses a Java date SimpleDateFormat to parse in the dates generated above. I am having problems parsing this date format due to the timezone. I have attempted to use yyyy-mm-DD'T'hh:mm:ssZ This fails as the 'Z' for timezone doesn't expect a ':' character. Does anyone know how I would specify a pattern to handle a RFC822 date with the ':'? I need an easy way to show different document-types (.doc, .xls, .jpg...) in webpages. Ideally a user prints or saves that document and that document is automatically converted to Adobe-Flash. I know there are existing solutions to this. However, I would like to implement them in my own application, written in C#. Can anyone point me in a direction how to write a "Printer" in C#, where printable documents can be printed to, and that outputs a SWF-File? Thanks, Reinhard

How do I provide a string with a list of values to an "IN" statement

I am creating a string that is a list of comma-delimitted values by looping through the selections in a CheckBoxList. I am able to display this value, so I know that it is creating what I expect. I am attempting to pass this list to an IN statment in a SELECT query: SelectCommand="SELECT ThisDate, DATEPART(dw, ThisDate) AS Expr1 FROM fbCalendar WHERE (ThisDate >= @ThisDate) AND (ThisDate <= @ThisDate2) AND (DATEPART(dw, ThisDate) IN (@TheseDays))" <asp:ControlParameter ControlID="Label1" Name="TheseDays" PropertyName="Text" Type="String" /> This works fine as long as there is only a single item selected, but selecting a second item fails with the message: Conversion failed when converting the nvarchar value '4,5' to data type int. However, I do not understand when this would be converted to an INT. I have tried many different formatting attempts (such as encapsulating the string in parenthesis (e.g. "(4,5)" ) for the SELECT query, but I have yet to find the right one to make this work. It seems like formatting is the problem, but perhaps I am missing something else.

Inserting empty string into auto_increment column in MySQL 5

Hi, I've inherited a project which we are trying to migrate to MySQL 5 from MySQL 4.0(!) and from myISAM to InnoDB. Queries are now falling down because they are being constructed using an ADODB connection's -qstr() on all parameters, including ints. Where no value is provided I end up with: INSERT INTO tablename VALUES ('', 'stuff'...) where the first column is an auto_increment. This causes an error (fair enough since '' isn't an int). Is there a switch in MySQL to make it behave as it used to (I assume it just silently converted to 0?) Thanks.

Copy unmanaged data into managed array

I need to copy native (i.e. unmanaged) data (byte*) to managed byte array with C++/CLI (array). I tried Marshal::Copy (data is pointed to by const void* data and is dataSize bytes) array<byte>^ _Data=gcnew array<byte>(dataSize); System::Runtime::InteropServices::Marshal::Copy((byte*)data, _Data, 0, dataSize); This gives error C2665: none of the 16 overloads can convert all parameters. Then I tried System::Runtime::InteropServices::Marshal::Copy(new IntPtr(data), _Data, 0, dataSize); which produces error C2664: parameter 1 cannot be converted from "const void*" to "__w64 int". So how can it be done and is Marshal::Copy indeed the "best" (simplest/fastest) way to do so?

Why are namespaces acting up in Visual Studio 2010?

I've just converted a project to VS 2010 and something really weird is going on with namespaces. Let me give an example, the following code used to work in VS2008: MySystem.Core.Object { using MySystem.Core.OtherObject; ... } But now it doesn't, it either wants the whole thing to be put outside of the namespace like this: using MySystem.Core.OtherObject; MySystem.Core.Object { ... } or be rewritten it like: MySystem.Core.Object { using OtherObject; ... } I understand why this works and maybe is the correct way of handling this, but now we'd have to change thousands of lines of code! Which is not cool. Any idea to circumvent this requirement?

Django forms: where is POST data received?

I have a widget that allows user to enter data for a model field. The data in the form can't be directly converted to Python - it requires some coercion. Where do I put this code? Is the widget responsible for translating its post data to a python value? The field itself? I thought that maybe value_from_datadict() would be correct, but now it looks like that serves a different purpose. (I'm using the form in the admin interface, if it makes any difference.)

Lambda expression will not compile

I am very confused. I have this lamba expression: tvPatientPrecriptionsEntities.Sort((p1, p2) => p1.MedicationStartDate .Value .CompareTo(p2.MedicationStartDate.Value)); Visual Studio will not compile it and complains about syntax. I converted the lamba expression to an anonymous delegate as so: tvPatientPrecriptionsEntities.Sort( delegate(PatientPrecriptionsEntity p1, PatientPrecriptionsEntity p2) { return p1.MedicationStartDate .Value .CompareTo(p2.MedicationStartDate.Value); }); and it works fine. The project uses .NET 3.5 and I have a reference to System.Linq.

Django model data consistency

When creating a form, you can define a bunch of methods, clean_xyz, to make sure the data gets forced into the correct format. Is there any way to do this on a model level? Perhaps I can override the field setters somehow? I want it so that if I write something like my_address.postal_code = 'a1b2c3' It will automatically get formatted into A1B 2C3. Perhaps throw an exception if it can't be converted. That way I know I'll never have any malformed data in the database.

The code gives an error saying that "no operator matches these two operands" in the if comparison statement. I interpret,it should mean that "a node can't be converted/casted into an integer". But, the print statement prints an integer value for w[2] when used with %d format. Why is that happening? Isn't printf casting it? Configure UIDatePicker with current locations time

I am using UIDatePicker in my current app, here is how I set a UILabel with the date time string obtained from the UIDatePicker. -(IBAction)AddTimeEnd:(id)sender { NSDate * date = [m_DateTimePicker date]; m_DateTimeLabel.text = [date description]; } Somehow the time I have entered (EST) kept on getting converted to US time in the UILabel. Does anyone know how to fix it? I would like the time entered in UIDatePicker to be consistent with the text in the label (probably the simplest way is set the locale for the UIDatePicker to be the local timezone)?

My question: Is there a way to strictly capture any string that starts with "http" AND ends with ".html" or "aspx" will be converted into a valid hyperlink? it should look like this - This is the site http://checksite.apsx to get information. mysqldb python escaping ? or %s?

Dear Everyone, I am currently using mysqldb. What is the correct way to escape strings in mysqldb arguments? Note that E = lambda x: x.encode('utf-8') 1) so my connection is set with charset='utf8'. I personally know that %s is not a good method to pass in arguemnts due to injection attacks etc.

Instead it is creating one element separated by \r . i'm not sure what \r is but why is putting these into the code ? I think I know a way to get rid of the \r from the string but i want to fix the problem from the source

If you’re a Media Center user, you already know that it can play and manage your digital music collection. But, did you know you can also rip a music CD in Windows 7 Media Center and have it automatically added to your music library? Rip a CD in Windows 7 Media Center Place your CD into your optical drive. From within Windows Media Center, open the Music Library and select the CD. If you haven’t previously ripped a CD in Windows 7 with either Windows Media Center or Windows Media Player, you’ll be prompted to select whether or not you’d like to add copy protection. Click Next. By default, your CD will be ripped to .WMA format. The rip settings for Windows Media Center are pulled from Windows Media Player. So to change the rip settings, we’ll need to do so in Media Player. Click Finish. From within Windows Media Player, click on Tools from Menu bar, and select Options. If you are new to Windows Media Player 12, check out our beginner’s guide on how to manage your music with WMP 12. Select the Rip Music tab and choose your output format from the Format drop down list. You can also select the Audio quality (bit rate) by moving the slider bar under Audio quality. Woes of a Junior Developer - is it possible to not be cut out for programming?

(Let me start off by asking - please be gentle, I know this is subjective, but it's meant to incite discussion and provide information for others. If needed it can be converted to community wiki.) I recently was hired as a junior developer at a company I really like. I started out in the field doing QA and transitioned into more and more development work, which is what I really want to end up doing. I enjoy it, but more and more I am questioning whether I am really any good at it or not. Part of this is still growing into the junior developer role, I know, but how much? What are junior developers to expect, what should they be doing and not doing? What can I do to improve and show my company I am serious about this opportunity? I hate that I am costing them time by getting up to speed. I've been told by others that companies make investments in Junior devs and don't expect them to pay off for a while, but how much of this is true? There's got to be a point when it's apparent whether the investment will pay off or not. So far I've been trying to ask as many questions I can, but I've you've been obsessing over a simple problem for some time and the others know that, there comes a time when it's pretty embarrassing to have to get help after struggling so long. I've also tried to be as open to suggestion as possible and work with others to try to refactor my code, but sometimes this can be hard clashing with various team members' personal opinions (being told by someone to write it one way, and then having someone else make you rewrite it). I often get over-stressed and judge myself too harshly, but I just don't want to have to struggle the rest of my life trying to get things work if I just don't have the talent. In your experience, is programming something that almost everyone can learn, or something that some people just don't get? Do others feel this way, or did you feel that way when starting out? It scares me that I have no other job skills should I be unsuited for having the skills necessary to code well.

LLBLGen Pro feature highlights: model views

(This post is part of a series of posts about features of the LLBLGen Pro system) To be able to work with large(r) models, it's key you can view subsets of these models so you can have a better, more focused look at them. For example because you want to display how a subset of entities relate to one another in a different way than the list of entities. LLBLGen Pro offers this in the form of Model Views. Model Views are views on parts of the entity model of a project, and the subsets are displayed in a graphical way. Additionally, one can add documentation to a Model View. As Model Views are displaying parts of the model in a graphical way, they're easier to explain to people who aren't familiar with entity models, e.g. the stakeholders you're interviewing for your project. The documentation can then be used to communicate specifics of the elements on the model view to the developers who have to write the actual code. Below I've included an example. It's a model view on a subset of the entities of AdventureWorks. It displays several entities, their relationships (both relational and inheritance relationships) and also some specifics gathered from the interview with the stakeholder. As the information is inside the actual project the developer will work with, the information doesn't have to be converted back/from e.g .word documents or other intermediate formats, it's the same project. This makes sure there are less errors / misunderstandings. (of course you can hide the docked documentation pane or dock it to another corner). The Model View can contain entities which are placed in different groups. This makes it ideal to group entities together for close examination even though they're stored in different groups. The Model View is a first-class citizen of the code-generator. This means you can write templates which consume Model Views and generate code accordingly. E.g. you can write a template which generates a service per Model View and exposes the entities in the Model View as a single entity graph, fetched through a method. (This template isn't included in the LLBLGen Pro package, but it's easy to write it up yourself with the built-in template editor). Viewing an entity model in different ways is key to fully understand the entity model and Model Views help with that.
