  • Oracle 11g connection prob.

    Our application is based on Oracle 11g database its drivers already installed but application throws an error on runtime. "AppliMSP.ADOcommands.GetConnected Error while connecting, Provider cannot be found, It may not be properly installed." I am using OraOLEDB.oracle provider. This provider work properly on other module (Administration) of this application but as I want to connect as client with same name and password I get above error. I have tried with MSDAORA(Oracle) but I don't get any success. Can anyone help me?

  • Unable to delete oldest table partition - Oracle 11g

    Hi, I'm using the 11g interval partitioning feature in one of my tables. I set it up to create 1 day partitions on a timestamp field and created a job to delete data 3 months old. When I try to delete the oldest partition I get the following error: ORA-14758: Last partition in the range section cannot be dropped I would have thought that "Last" refers to the newest partition and not the oldest. How should I interpret this error? Is there something wrong with my partitions or should I in fact keep the oldest partition there at all time? Thanks in advance, PJ

  • NFS to NFS mount

    I have a machine that I need to bridge NFS files to. Can I mount an NFS directory on machine2 from machine1 and then mount the mounted NFS directory on machine2 on machine3 via NFS? Do you see any problems with that? I am basically bridging some subnet domains this way, in a certain fashion. My development machine is on a different and separate (unbridged) than where I would like to use the files, and I would like this machine1(dev machine) - machine2(passthrough machine) - machine3(test machine) connection. And no there is no way to move the test machine as it's a chassis :) and it's two buildings away.

  • Disable linux read and write file cache on partition

    How do i disable the linux file cache on a xfs partition (both read an write). We have a xfs partition over a hardware RAID that stores our RAW HD Video. Most of the shoots are 50-300gb each so the linux cache has a hit-rate of 0.001%. I have tryed the sync option but it still fills up the cache when copinging the files. ( about 30x over per shoot :P ) /etc/fstab: /dev/sdb1 /video xfs sync,noatime,nodiratime,logbufs=8 0 1 Im running debian lenny if it helps.

  • Associate mount points with local disks in VBscript / WMI

    I have a VBscript that outputs various config items about a system. Both hardware and software. I can output disks and their associated partitions. I can output mount points. I do not seem to be able to associate a mount point with a local disk (where it actually is a local disk). I need to be able to do this using VBscript, so as to fit in with the rest of the ~2000 lines of code. I do NOT want to run some other program graphically. I know the disk manager service can show me (My Computer - Manage - Disk Management), but this is not what I need. I need to be able to do this remotely via VBscript. I am open to running an .exe from the VBscript and piping the output back into VBscript and massaging it from there. Any idea's ? Thanks in advance.

  • Online remount btrfs of root filesystem with different subvolume (snapshot) [migrated]

    Let's say you have a btrfs root filesystem on an online system. You want to revert the filesystem to an earlier state, of which you have a snapshot: remount /dev/sdaX / -o remount,subvol=snapshots/Y For the record, I've done this in a test system, and it does not work. The command returns with no errors, but the subvolume mounted is the same. If this did work, what would be the consequences? My guess is that open file descriptors would still point to the old subvolume, thus possibly leading to "data loss" on the new subvolume, if one was not careful. Assuming one goes to the trouble of closing and reopening all open file descriptors, does this sound feasible? Or are there other types of problems?

  • Iomega Home Media Network Hard Drive: Accesing the data in the disk?

    Hi all! I have an Iomega Home Media Network Hard Drive, 1TB, and lately I can't access the data on the drive. The shares (both built-in and created by me) are there, the security works, but when trying to access the data I get a "The network path was not found" message which is worrying, to say the least. I'd like to know if there is a way to get the data off the disks somehow, as some of the data in the drive (ie, pictures and videos of my 1.5 yrs old son) is hard if not impossible to find otherwise.   • How do I convert a Linux disk image into a sparse file?

    I have a bunch of disk images, made with ddrescue, on an EXT partition, and I want to reduce their size without losing data, while still being mountable. How can I fill the empty space in the image's filesystem with zeros, and then convert the file into a sparse file so this empty space is not actually stored on disk? For example: > du -s --si --apparent-size Jimage.image 120G Jimage.image > du -s --si Jimage.image 121G Jimage.image This actually only has 50G of real data on it, though, so the second measurement should be much smaller. This supposedly will fill empty space with zeros: cat /dev/zero > zero.file rm zero.file But if sparse files are handled transparently, it might actually create a sparse file without writing anything to the virtual disk, ironically preventing me from turning the virtual disk image into a sparse file itself. :) Does it? Note: For some reason, sudo dd if=/dev/zero of=./zero.file works when cat does not on a mounted disk image.

  • VMware Workstation executes nonexisting and outdated File

    I execute a command line program from a VM (VMware 7.1.1) with Windows XP. The executable file is located on the host machine. If i start a command line in the VM, using a drive mounted as .host\SharedFolders i see the following: D:\projects\myProgram\WinRel>dir myProgram.exe 02.09.2010 21:15 245.760 myProgram.exe D:\projects\myProgram\WinRel>myProgram.exe Processing BuildFeb 26 2009 This is wrong! The whole execution of the program behaves like the version that is outdated more than one year! I triple checked that there is no confusion or anything If i start the Program on the host or if i even start it from the VM using a UNC Path, it shows the last build date and executes as expected: C:\>dir \\myMachine\drive_d\projects\myProgram\WinRel\myProgram.exe 02.09.2010 21:15 245.760 myProgram.exe C:\>\\myMachine\drive_d\projects\myProgram\WinRel\myProgram.exe Processing Build: Sep 2 2010 Can this behavior somehow be explained? There MUST be a cache for the host mounted drive. The program it executes does not exist anymore! If i remove it from the host, the VM can not execute it anymore. If i restore it, the behavior becomes the same again.

  • How can ShadowProtect SBS backup to alternating external drives?

    I am trying to configure ShadowProtect SBS (v. 4.1.5.10129) in Windows Server 2003 SBS to backup my server hard drives to two alternating external drives. What I want is to be able to swap one drive for another every Friday, and have ShadowProtect continue on the same schedule. Ideally, this would require absolutely no user interaction whatsoever, apart from physically unplugging one drive and reconnecting the other. The trouble is, Windows Server 2003 does not allow you to assign the same drive letter to two different devices. So if I plug in drive #1 and assign it drive letter "X:", the next week when I unplug it and plug in drive #2, it gets some other letter. But since ShadowProtect is set to backup to "X:\", it can't find it and the backup fails. The drives are Samsung STORY Station 3.0 2TB drives. How can I configure things so I can just swap the drives over every week and not worry about having to reconfigure drive letters every time?

I was playing around with chmod and chown. suddenly my home folder become read-only. all the folders in /home/goutham/, where goutham is username, became read-only. I can delete files after turning on system for few seconds, after that it says Permission denied:read only file system. I cant even create folder with sudo mkdir also. Please help me.   • How to edit files directly on webdav in windows.

    I have a webDAV setup with the cPanel webdisk. I can connect to it through NetHood and I can drag and drop files to/from there. What I can't do is simply edit any of the files directly. I need to copy it somewhere else, edit it, then copy it back. That's essentially what is needed with ftp, though smart clients will monitor the file, making it easier than webDAV in the current state I'm using it in. I was under the impression that webdav was supposed to let me work on the files as if it were a local drive. But nothing can actually open the files. How can I go about bringing more functionality around to it? Or is this as good as it gets? I have tried 'net use q:\ https://myserver.com:2078' and 'net use q:\ '\myserver.com@SSL:2078\' but neither work and only throws: "System error 67 has occurred. The network name cannot be found." I ultimately want to use TortiseSVN with the webDAV so I can have my working copy running on the server.

    There are lots of ways to disable pendrive automount. I used one, but regreted, forgot which one and now need to reenable pendrive automount. It may have been a changed setting after pressing a button while booting Ubuntu or a deleted folder named something20090101 or 01012009something or whatever as long as it's a word and a date... If I don't want pendrive viruses, it's disable autorun, but keep automount enabled, right? blush

  • How can I adapt a Dell 2001FP stand for use on newer Dell monitors?

    I find myself really disappointed with how little vertical adjustment newer Dell LCD's have. I retiring a malfunctioning Dell 2001FP. The stand on the 2001FP allows over 6 inches of vertical adjustment. Compare this to my newer monitors, a 2005FP and a SW22209, both of which allow at most 2 inches of vertical adjustment. So while the Dell 2001FP monitor is shot, the stand is not. Is there anyway to fit the stand onto the SW2209 or the 2005FP? The 2001FP stand seems to have an odd plate with three tabs on the top edge. Can I replace this?

  • Mounted HDD not having enough permissions from Apache/PHP

    Piwigo gallery, on apache and php. The root system is a RAID 128GB. /var/www/html is on the root file system. Mounted the 320GB hdd to /var/www/html/320 using defaults, it's an ext4 fs. Put a symlink to it in /var/www/html/galleries which is read by the gallery script so I can upload images to there, then click sync. It gives me the error: [./galleries/] PWG-ERROR-NO-FS (File/directory read error) PWG-ERROR-NO-FS: The file or directory cannot be accessed (either it does not exist or the access is denied) chmod 777 set on /dev/sdb1, /var/www/html, and /var/www/html/320 as well as the symlink galleries too. All recursive. chown apache:apache to everything too. PHP just can't read/write to it. I tried with and without the symlink, I've tried everything I can think of. Nothing. Any ideas how I can give apache/php permission to read/write to this drive? With 777 permissions all around it should already be able to.

  • QNAP NAS 509 (LINUX) - how to unmout busy volume and find physical disk?

    On my NAS QNAP TS 509 I do have a technical issue. I need to run e2fsck. This works fine for me on md0 (see below), but how can I unmount the busy devices md9 and sda4 in order to do the same. Whenever I try, I fail because the device is busy. [This part is solved, see below] In order to further track down the issue, I'd need to sort out the physical disk to device relationship. How can I find out this, e.g. md0 is a stripped volume on 2 disk (but I need to find out on what physical disk). I want to go to single user mode to unmount the devices. # cd /var/service # sv d * # sv u getty* -- Added, thanks A4L -- This QNAP Box runs a special flavor of Linux, so not all SOPs do apply. In my particular case I found a services.sh script, stopping all services. After that the drive could be unmounted. The information passed by A4L is valid and worth reading it, maybe I'll profit from it next time.     When I try to open a DMG file I get this: I'll just transcript the image: There may be a problem with this disk image. Are you sure you want to open it? Opening this disk image may make your computer less secure or cause other problems. What does that mean in fact? What's really wrong with it, and what kind of problem can it cause just by mounting? Someone said: When you download a file in Leopard (and Snow Leopard), it's marked as a quarantined file. This occurs by the OS adding an attribute to the file, tagging where it came from (such as "downloaded by Safari"). This is what causes the user to see prompts when running files that were downloaded from the Internet, you may remember being asked to confirm you'd like to launch program XXX downloaded by Safari on XXX date. As a new part of Snow Leopard, files which are tagged with the quarantine attribute also have integrity checked by fsck, and if that verify fails you will see the message you described, triggered by an unused node in the disc image. But really, I didn't get that. What's quarantine? I've just downloaded a file here on SL, tried to open, and got that warning. Apple have a say about quarantine files, and they seem to work the same on Leopards. Plus I have got that file using Google Chrome while that feature seems to work just with Safari.
