  Hi, I just got a Windows 7. However, I'm now unable to connect to the internet. Doing the diagnosis gives me these: 1. There might be a problem with the driver for the Local Area Connection Adapter 2. The Local Area Connection 2 Adapter is disabled How do I resolve those?   I would like to use postfwd version 2 to limit the amount of daily mail sent by my sasl authenticated users. I installed latest tarball: postfwd-1.35 with latest postfix from Centos 6.4 In my I have only this rule id=RULEZEROSASL sasl_username=~/^(\S+)$/ action=rcpt(sasl_username/500/86400/REJECT only 500 recipients per day for $$sasl_username) which should reject only mail with authenticated users (not mail from trusted mailservers). • Local Flash in Chrome pepper player won't link to internet

  I have a local .swf file in a local .html file. The flash file opens a popup window when a link is clicked. In Chrome, when I open the html file and click the button, nothing happens. Then when I go to about:plugins and disable the top Flash player (the pepper one) then try refresh and try clicking the button again, nothing happens. Then when I go to http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04.html and add the the folder the files are stored in to the list and refresh the page and click the button again, it opens the popup. When I re-enable the pepper flash player, and re-add the folder to the allowed list in flash (it's gone from the list now that I changed players), refresh the page and click the button again, it does nothing. I don't know why it won't open with the pepper player. I'm using Windows 7, Chrome 22.0.1229.94 m, Pepper Flash player 11.4.31.110, and regular Flash Player 11,4,402,287.

  How can I disable the local user account password complexity settings on Windows 2008 R2 "Server Core"? I am trying to migrate our windows 2003 web server to windows 2008 R2. I am trying to see if I can use the "Server Core" install, and it has been a very internet search intensive experience. What I can't find out how to do is to find out how to disable password complexity for local user accounts. While our user account generator currently creates nice strong passwords, there was a time when this was not the case and unfortunately forcing the users to change their password is not an option at this time. • Server 2003 on domain wont let domain user have local profile

  I have a few servers that are acting in this behavior, you log in and always get put into a temporary profile. The server is licensed for TS. The user I am testing with has local admin rights so it doesn't seem to be a permission issue on the server. I'll first get a message that the users roaming profile cannot be found, even though we dont use roaming profiles. I then get another message immediately after saying a local profile could not be loaded, so it will only use a temp profile. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Safely adding SSH users to pfSense

  I would like to add a user for myself to login via SSH to a pfSense box. I don't want to just blindly go through the adduser command and inadvertently break something / open a vulnerability somewhere though. Looking at the config page in the WebUI: I can't find where to add users or to specify their keys. What is the right way to add users that can use SSH? Can I also safely use the AllowUsers directive to keep tighter control of those allowed to login via SSH? Bonus: I would also like to disable root from being able to login via SSH. I can see the option PermitRootLogin in the /etc/ssh/sshd_config file, though I don't necessarily want to modify it directly as I could potentially lose those changes with updates/patches or changes through the WebUI. Thoughts?

  I know it has been asked before, but I would like it to happen in real time and transparently (without the need to open a separate FTP client such as FileZilla). For example, if I edit a text file in the local folder and then save it, it should immediately detect it and push the changes to the remote folder. It can be unidirectional (changes made on the local folder has to be pushed to the remote folder but the reverse is not necessary). It should also be able to specify some excluded files/folders which do not need to be in sync. Is there such an application that you know of?

  IIS 7.5 FTP IIS Manager Users Login Fail (530) I'm trying to set up a FTP site on IIS 7.5 that allows IIS Manager Users to login. I'm following this guide: http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/321/configure-ftp-with-iis-7-manager-authentication/. After set up, I cannot login to the FTP using an IIS Manager User account. The client error I got was 530 User cannot log in. Win32 error: Unspecified error. Error details: An error occured during the authentication process. I tried both with or without a virtual host. A Windows account login fine. The only strange thing I noticed was that when setting up Read permission for Network Service, there was an access denied error when setting up permission for "%SystemDrive%\Windows\System32\inetsrv\config\schema". Any thoughts? Thanks!

• Ubuntu - changing another users file permissions

  I have setup Ubuntu as a development web server - however I am experiencing problems with file permissions. I have 2 users, user1 and user2, and they both have been put into the group www-data. I have uploaded a new file with user1 so the file is owned by user1 and the www-data group. At present if user2 wants to modify the permissions on that file to say 777 - they cannot. Is there a way to allow any users within a group to be able to modifiy permissions etc.. on this file? I have tried changing umask to 002 and a few other combinations that were suggested without luck.

  The joys of a Samba domain... First off Domain Group policy can't be used until Samba 4 arrives. We need to setup Software Restriction Policies (SRPs) on most of the computers in our Samba domain and I would dearly like to automate this. (We are moving away from just disabling the Windows installer). The traditional way is to set SRPs using Local Group Policy (LGP) Computer Conf-Windows Settings-SRP but this involves visiting every machine as it can't be set using in NTConfig.pol. It is possible to attempt to create the SRPs directly in the registry: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Safer\CodeIdentifiers\262144\Paths\{30628f61-eb47-4d87-823b-6683a09eda87}] "LastModified"=hex(b):40,a2,94,09,b5,5d,ca,01 "Description"="" "SaferFlags"=dword:00000000 "ItemData"="C:\\location\\subfolder" SaferFlags DWORD seems to be what turns it on or off, but although this seems to work it does not update the Local Group Policy - SRPs still show as "No SRPs Defined". Where does the LGP store this setting - is it even in the registry and more importantly - Is there a cleverer way of setting up SRPs?

At exim4 server, I had setup an alias for the users accounts ...for example root : [email protected] But I have other server, if I put the alias email is marked as spam...since they arent using exim4 server. I want to configure the other server to use that exim4 server, in order to dont get the mails mark as spam. Well I know this is really newbie question, but searching at google is difficult since it confuses exim4 server configuration than the client configuration to use exim4 server. Remember, I want root@server1,root@server2,etc mails send via exim4 server!

• local app opening instead of ssh forwarded app over x

  i have a custom install of ubuntu 9.10 - xorg intel and its deps, icewm, xde and swiftfox from the swiftfox repos. I'm trying to start a ssh forwarded session of swiftfox from another system - which has the plain vanilla firefox version in the repos- with ssh -x [ipaddress] and then starting swiftfox from command line. When i start it though, it opens up the local copy of firefox instead of the copy of swiftfox on the other box. I have NO idea what's wrong...swiftfox dosen't open on the remote box, i am definately on the remote boxes terminal, and there's no way whatsoever it should open a local copy. I'm wondering what's wrong

• Sendmail Issue - Local Mail / Inner Domain Mail

  Environments: Ubuntu / Sendmail / Google Apps Emailing: I send and receive all of my emails through google apps besides emails that are sent directly from my website. My Web Domain: example.com (for the purpose of the question only) Problem: When my website sends an email, using sendmail, to any local address ([email protected]) I get an unknown user error. Emails sent to other domains seem to work just fine. Question: I believe this is because I don't have these users defined on my ubuntu server, this is besides the point I need to configure sendmail such that it doesn't pick out local emails sent to ([email protected]) and instead finds their name server which points to google apps and sends it there instead. This is my first try at serverfault, I normally use stackoverflow so let me know if I'm messing up! Thank you!

• Synchronize pasteboard between remote tmux session and local Mac OS pasteboard

  Setup: I use iTerm2 on MacOS to connect to a remote server. The remote server runs tmux, in which I open files and edit in vim sessions. Problem: I can't copy/paste between the remote tmux session and the local iTerm client. I can use iTerm 2's alt/option + mouse selection to select text, but this copies over multiple vim panes/tmux panes - bad. Is there any elegant solution to make selections in tmux panes synchronize between the remote pasteboard and the local (MacOS pasteboard)? I've seen reattach-to-user-namespace, but I'm pretty certain it doesn't do what I want.

  I have the following questions about setting an active directory, that already has users and a domain, (i.e. internaldomain.edu) and real domain (i.e mydomain.edu.), and I have seeing many examples of the integration of AD with linux and usually they have a domain like intranet.mydomain.edu. Should I change "internaldomain.edu" to intranet.mydomain.edu or to mydomain.edu, or I can leave that internaldomain.edu like it is and create another domain. I am a littlebit confused with these, I know one is the windows domain but I dont know if that affects my email users.

• Unable to connect to local SQL Express (2008)

  I'm trying to get an installation of SQL Express 2008 working, but no matter what I do I can't connect to it with management studio. I've enabled TCP/IP for the instance. I've tried connecting with machinename\instance, .\instance, (local), etc etc etc. Nothing works, and I always get the same message. If I browse for a server, the only server listed is the local integration services, which I can connect to just fine. The SQL server service is running (SQLEXPRESS), SQL Server Agent is not (and won't, can't enable it), and SQL Server Browser is. Anyone have any suggestions on where to go next? I've tried uninstalling EVERYTHING sql and reinstalling, no change.

  I can change php.ini values on my Apache and restart to see them in effect via a script showing php_info(). However, one setting is causing problems: safe_mode. I set it to "off" in php.ini but php_info() still shows it as Local value: On Master value: Off How can I find out which local value is overriding the master value? There's no htaccess directive of that kind in the httpdocs folder in question... (I already downloaded all files php_info() claims to be additional .ini files parsed, but safe_mode is not set in them.)

• Trying to mount NFS share on Windows Machien at startup with Z: letter for all users

  Windows Server 2008 We are trying to mount a specific drive letter on a windows machine from a unix machine. We need the mount to be available to the server even if no users are logged in and to users who are logged in with If we run the command from the command prompt manually it conencts and we have access to the NFS share, and can open it and see and edit files. mount -o fileaccess=777 anon \\127.0.0.1\nav z: (ip address replaced with 127.0.0.1 for security reasons) However if we try to automate the task by making an entry in the task schedule for boot time, to execute the batch script, it adds a disconencted drive to the list in 'My Computer' but it is disconencted and when trying to access the drive an error is produced: Z: is not accessible The data area passed to a system call is too small.| Tried as administrator with highest privelidges, as SYSTEM (group) and as my user (adminstator level user) same results. Is there another way to do this? Most of the help I have found online suggest this way but it keeps failing.

• No win 7 users available for login after dell datasafe factory reset

  I created install discs using the Dell datasafe 2.0 backup utility in order to re-install windows on a friend's laptop (dell inspiron n5110). I ran the discs to do a factory reset. after the whole process, it booted, started loading windows 7, displayed the messages "setup is preparing your computer for first use" and "setup is checking video performance," and showed the login screen. However, there don't seem to be any active users on the machine - I opened a command prompt window to check the users on the machine. Using the command prompt (again, from the login window), i activated/enabled the administrator account, and even created another admin account, and upon logging in received several errors, couldn't load any mmc's, etc. any help would be appreciated.

  I am planning to build a network attached storage (NAS) server. Is there a way to cache frequently acccessed files from the remote storage automatically on the local PC? (I am not looking for a way to sync whole folders like rsync, but rather something that automatically and transparently caches the last accessed 50 gb of files.) Ideally I am searching for something that caches writes as well as reads, since only one pc will be accessing the server (and one day of lost changes if the local cache is damaged would be acceptable) I looked into windows offline files, but as far as I could tell this requires manual interaction to disconnect the server or go into offline mode in order to use the cache. The server would probably be running Linux or freeNAS, the pc runs Windows xp, but could be upgraded to 7 if required.

  Hello, i am a little bit lost with this issue, let me explain you my problem: I want to setup a git repository, three of four users will contribute, so they need to download the code and shall be able to upload their changes to the server or update their branch with the latest modifications. So, i setup a linux machine, install git, setup the repository, then add the users in order to enable the acces throught ssh. Now my question is, What's next?, the git documentation is a little bit confusing, i.e. when i try from a dummy user account to clone the repository i got: xxx@xxx-desktop:~/Documentos/git/test$ git clone -v ssh://[email protected]/pub.git Initialized empty Git repository in /home/xxx/Documentos/git/test/pub/.git/ [email protected]'s password: fatal: '/pub.git' does not appear to be a git repository fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly is that a problem of privileges? need any special configuration? i want to avoid using git-daemon or gitosis, sorry, maybe my question sound silly but git is powerfull but i admit not so user friendly. • Debian Simple Gui for adding/removing users for protective directories

  We have a hosted site with a directory that is password protected. I need to have a user who knows very little about computers, maintain the users that have access to this directory. The list is going to get big, according to our customer database. My question is 2 fold: Is there a simple gui program that I can have this user utilize to be able to maintain the users without having to teach them how to use ssh and UNIX?   I was looking for a way to display a usage agreement page in browsers that users must agree to before they are allowed to access the internet. This would be for users on public computers and public/open wifi. I'm using a sonicwall firewall which does support this feature, however, there is a rediculously low character limit which makes it impractical to use. I thought about setting the browser's homepage to a usage agreement page, but that can easily be bypassed by navigating to somewhere else. Are there any other approaches that may be worth considering? There is currently no server in place on the public network, though I can set one up if need be.
