• Retrieve web user's Identity outside of request scope

  I have an ASP.NET app that logs Audit reports using nHibernate's IPreUpdateListener. In order to set the current user in the Listener events, I was using System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent(). This works fine when debugging on my machine, but when I move it to the staging server, I'm getting the ASP.NET process credentials, not the requesting user. In the ASP.NET page, I can use Request.LogonUserIdentity (which works fine since I'm using integrated authentication), but how do I reference this user directly without having to pass it directly to my event? I don't want to have to pass this info through the pipeline because it really doesn't belong in the intermediate events/calls.

  In some enterprise-like project (.NET, WCF) i saw that all service contracts accept a single Request parameter and always return Response: [DataContract] public class CustomerRequest : RequestBase { [DataMember] public long Id { get; set; } } [DataContract] public class CustomerResponse : ResponseBase { [DataMember] public CustomerInfo Customer { get; set; } } where RequestBase/ResponseBase contain common stuff like ErrorCode, Context, etc. Bodies of both service methods and proxies are wrapped in try/catch, so the only way to check for errors is looking at ResponseBase.ErrorCode (which is enumeration). I want to know how this technique is called and why it's better compared to passing what's needed as method parameters and using standard WCF context passing/faults mechanisms?

  Users attempting to check out files from a particular Subversion 1.4.x repository with Apache 2.2 on Windows 2003 have suddenly begun getting an error message in their log windows upon checkout with TortoiseSVN 1.4: Error REPORT request failed on '/[path_to_repo]/!svn/vcc/default' Error REPORT of '/[path_to_repo]/!svn/vcc/default': 200 OK (http://[server_name]) This started following an hd crash on the server and subsequent restore of about 10 subversion repositories. Only one repository is having this problem after an attempted working directory reconciliation. The repo owner reconcile their working directory with the repository by modifying/deleting the hidden .svn directories (though this was not advised). I can't find anything on the Internets that represents my situation. The restored server is exactly as the original and no other repositories on this server are throwing errors. Any ideas on 1) what this error is and 2) how to fix it?

  I would like to send a html string with a GET request like this with Apaches HttpClient: http://sample.com/?html=<html><head>... This doesnt work at the moment, i think its an encoding problem. Do you have any ideas how to do that? method.setQueryString(new NameValuePair[] {new NameValuePair("report", "<html>....")}); client.executeMethod(method) This fails with org.apache.commons.httpclient.NoHttpResponseException: The server localhost failed to respond. If i replace "<html>" by "test.." it works fine. EDIT It seams to be a problem of URL length after encoding, the server doesnt except such long URls. Sending it as POST solves the problem.

  My application checks a number of domains to see if they are valid (approx 100). I have the following code to check a single domain: def self.test_url uri, limit = 10 if limit == 0 return get_error_messages("001") end begin url = URI.parse(uri) response = Net::HTTP.start(url.host, url.port).request_head('/') rescue SocketError => e return get_error_messages("002") end case response when Net::HTTPRedirection then test_url(response['location'], limit - 1) else return get_error_messages(response.code) end end The code checks for the response code while taking into account redirects. This works fine. The only problem I have is when I put this in a loop I want it to run in parallel. So I don't have to wait for domain 1 to respond before I can request domain 2. I have managed this in PHP using curl_multi to run the requests in parallel. Is there a similar thing I can do in Rails?

  I'm using curl multi API for multiple curl requests. first I'm using a single request to login to a site and save the cookie file. then I'm using the curl multi API to get some data from that site. The problem I'm facing is that from some reason the cookie file does not get read and I'm redirecting to the main login page.   I'm having trouble trying to populate a UITableView with the results of a network request. It seems that my code is alright as it works perfectly when my network is speedy, however, when it's not, the function - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath- still executes, which results in a bad access error. I presume that this is because the array that the aforesaid function attempts to utilize has not been populated.   Using jQuery to create new DOM elements from text. Example: jQuery('<div><img src="/some_image.gif"></img></div>'); When this statement is executed, it causes the browser to request the file 'some_img.gif' from the server. Is there a way to execute this statement so that the resulting jQuery object can be used from DOM traversal, but not actually cause the browser to hit the server with requests for images and other referenced content? Example: var jquery_elememnts = jQuery('<div><img class="a_class" src="/some_image.gif"></img></div>'); var img_class = jquery_elememnts.find('img').attr('class'); The only idea I have now is to use regex to remove all of the 'src' tags from image elements and other things that will trigger the browser requests before using jQuery to evaluate the HTML.   I have been using Windows 7 for a while but have not had to work with a particular legacy intranet application since my upgrade. Unfortunately, this application is setup as an ASP.NET Website project hosted on a remote server. When I have the website open in Visual Studio 2008 and try to debug it I get the following compiler error: Request for the permission of type 'System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission' failed To resolve this issue on Windows Vista machines, I would change the machine's .NET Security Configuration trust level to full for the local intranet (fix outlined here). I believe this configuration utility relied upon the mscorcfg.msc which from some cursory research appears to be apart of the .NET 2.0 SDK. I have tried to follow the instructions from this Microsoft Support article running the command below to no avail. • Help with an AJAX request

  The Problem I am tring to do an ajax request to a PHP script, however I am having a problem getting the data into the format that the PHP is expecting it, the PHP is expecting the data to come in as array within an array something like, Array ( [cv_file] => Array ( [849649717] => Y [849649810] => Y ) [save] => Save CVs ) What have I tried? • Making REST request using LWP::Simple

  I am trying to use LWP::Simple to make a GET request to a REST service. Here's the simple code: use LWP::Simple; $uri = "http://api.stackoverflow.com/0.8/questions/tagged/php"; $jsonresponse= get $uri; print $jsonresponse; On my local machine, running Ubuntu 10.4, and Perl version 5.10.1: farhan@farhan-lnx:~$ perl --version This is perl, v5.10.1 (*) built for x86_64-linux-gnu-thread-multi I can get the correct response and have it printed on the screen. E.g.: farhan@farhan-lnx:~$ head -10 output.txt { "total": 1000, "page": 1, "pagesize": 30, "questions": [ { "tags": [ "php", "arrays", "coding-style" (... snipped ...) But on my host's machine to which I SSH into, I get garbage printed on the screen for the same exact code. I am assuming it has something to do with the encoding, but the REST service does not return the character set type in the response, so how do I force LWP::Simple to use the correct encoding? • Firefox extension is freezing Firefox until request is completed

  For some reason the function is freezing along with firefox until it fully retrieve the stream from requested site.
