  Hi, First off I should say that I don't have any experience in working with a CMS. I have 2 general questions about CMS: How easy is it to create a template? I have strong CSS/XHTML skills, is creating a template as easy as writing the markup or does it have to be done in a very rigid way? How is jQuery support in CMS systems? I like what you can do with jQuery and would like to incorporate it into the next couple of sites that I will do. EDIT: So far answers are asking which CMS, I don't have any in mind. Any suggestions welcome, open source and non .NET preferable.

  Hi all, I created a template variable in modx by the name 'test_var'. Then in the home page resource edit content editor I wrote [*test_var*]. Then I published the resource. Then for checking if it works I executed the page using the preview button. The value appeared fine but when I refreshed the page, the value of the template variable disappeared ? This is very strange. Please help me what I am doing wrong. Thanks

• Merging two templates in iText

  Let's say I have two PDF templates created with Adobe Acrobat, which are both single-page, 8.5x11 documents. The first template (A.pdf) has content for the top half of the page. The second template (B.pdf) has content for the bottom half of the page. (It just so happens the content in both templates does not "overlap" each other.) I would like to use iText to take these two templates and create a single, "merged" template from it (C.pdf) that is only a single page (with A.pdf's content on the top half and B.pdf's content on the bottom half). (I do not want to "merge" these two files into a 2-page document. I need the final product to be a single page.) I will be running iText in a servlet environment (Tomcat 6) but I don't think that makes a difference to the answer. Is this possible?

• Ruby on Rails form_remote_tag missing template

  I'm using form_remote_tag(:url => {:controller => "home", :action => "search"}, :update => "mydiv"). When I click submit on the form "mydiv" is populated with the error "Template is missing. Missing template home/search.erb in view path app/views". I've tried multiple render options in def search, but they all result in the same error. It looks like the search method is trying to use it's default render even though I'm specifying what I want. I've tried: render 'index' render :text => 'Return this from my method!' Is my url incorrect? Is it not submitting back to my home controller's search method?

• Problem creating PostGIS template database

  I am trying to build a template geographic database for PostGIS (1.5) on Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6) for my GeoDjango application. I am following: http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/ref/contrib/gis/install/#creating-a-spatial-database-template-for-postgis I've managed to come up to the point where the provided postgis.sql should be run (i.e. psql -d template_postgis -f $POSTGIS_SQL_PATH/postgis.sql) At that point I am getting an error at the first SQL statement that is tried to be run.   The following code #include <stdio.h> template <typename T, T v> class Tem { T t; Tem() { t = v; } }; typedef Tem<FILE*,NULL> TemFile; when compiled in a .mm file (Objective C++) by Xcode on MacOS X, throws the following error: error: could not convert template argument '0' to 'FILE*'. What's going on, please? The code in question compiled fine under MSVC. Since when is the 0 constant not a valid pointer to anything? Is this an artifact of Objective C++ (as opposed to vanilla C++)?

  Hi, I am having a template class which is exposed, in which I added a method. This class is in namespace A. Now, I am calling this method in another namespace (say B). Initially, compiler gave me linker error saying "unresolved external symbol" for this particular method. However, if I call this method inside the same namespace (that is A), it links well. After that, it links well in namespace B as well. Why could this be happening ? Does this has something to do with the creating Template object of my class ? Atul

  I'm in the process of re-setting up my Django development environment after reinstalling my OS. We use django-photologue with our project, which I installed using easy_install. However, I'm getting a template error on every template that has a photologue photo: TemplateSyntaxError at /newsroom/news/ Caught an exception while rendering: (13, 'Permission denied') One example of the line where the error is located: <img src="{{ photo.get_list_url }}"> I'm totally stumped--I've used photologue for this project on many different platforms and have never had this problem. Google yields nothing. I'm currently using Jolicloud (based on Ubuntu Jaunty). I'm working with a pre-existing database, so all of the photo sizes and everything have already been set up.

• A realistic and usable (VS2010) MVC2 project template?

  Hello. everybody. The default MVC2 web project template which VS2010 creates when you select "ASP.NET MVC2 Web Application" is quite a nice start... but nowhere near a realistic app framework. E.G.: user accounts without such features as password recover easily customizabile (and maybe multilingual) error messages an interface to manage users, such a searcheable user list, user edit and so on which an admin can use and these are just the beginning of the usual, mandatory basic features a web site of any size may use. Searching through the online projects templates doesn't seem to help, ehiter. Are there any project template sites or else that you are aware of, that gives such features? thanks a lot!

• "Attach to process" missing from Delphi 7's Run menu

  I have to resurrect an ancient Delphi 7 application, which means I have to use the D7 IDE. Upgrading the project to a more recent version of Delphi unfortunately isn't an option. My new D7 installation's Run menu is missing Attach to Process. Aside from the missing menu item, the debugger works fine (I can debug normal Delphi executables started with Run). I know D7 supported this feature (it's in the help file), so does anyone have any idea what I've missed? The installation is Delphi 7 Enterprise (Version 7.0 Build 4.453).   Is it a common pattern/idiom to use free functions as pseudo-constructors to avoid having to explicitly specify template parameters? For example, everyone knows about std::make_pair, which uses its parameters to deduce the pair types: template <class A, class B> std::pair<A, B> make_pair(A a, B b) { return std::pair<A, B>(a, b); } // This allows you to call make_pair(1, 2), // instead of having to type pair<int, int>(1, 2) // as you can't get type deduction from the constructor. I find myself using this quite often, so I was just wondering if many other people use it, and if there is a name for this pattern?

• Xcode missing Command Line Utility section - can't start Foundation project template

  I downloaded the iPhone SDK from the iPhone dev center a couple of days ago and installed it yesterday. I'm following the Stanford iPhone development tutorials available on iTunes U. On Assignment 1B, the first instruction is to open a new Foundation Project template. The screenshot shows several sections in Xcode which my version doesn't seem to have, including the Command Line Utility section which the Foundation Project template is shown to be in. Does this need to be installed manually? I tried searching on Google with no luck. The fact that I'm an OS X newbie doesn't really help any either. Thanks in advance!

• Django: cannot pass variable to included template?

  Hi, I got a problem where I want to use template including in Django. Here is the real example: I got 3 file: home.html (will get the context variable passed from Views), base.html (the skeleton template file) and the header.html (included by base.html). If if put the code below directly in base.html without including the header.html, the {{title}} variable passing from home is correctly called. But if I include the header.html in base.html, the {{title}} variable's value cannot be called. <title>{% block title %}{% endblock %} | {{ SITE_INFO_TITLE }}</title> Is there any solution to this problem? • Blogger Template not saving after Facebook like changes

  I've add the facebook Like button to http://www.goldfishview.com/ and that works great. Its powered by Blogger. Now I want to move it to the end of my posts instead of a the beginning. I move the facebook iframe and the preview looks great, but once I save the template it reverts back to were it was. I've tried in Chrome and Firefox. In Chrome after I click preview the save template button becomes useless and doesn't do anything when I click on it. In Firefox everything looks like it takes, but on page refresh the iFrame goes back to its original position. Am I crazy?

• Content Being Echoed Below Footer in Category Post Template

  I have created a category template in Wordpress for all posts that are in the 'blog' category. The file name is single-blog.php. There is some conditional code in single.php that checks whether the post is in the 'blog' category and if it is it redirects it to single-blog.php. That seems to be working fine. The problem is that on all the individual 'blog' categorized posts the post title and content are echoed below the footer of the page. I do not know why they are showing up and I haven't been able to stop it or hide it. The Loop is getting closed on the template page, but I'm wondering if the Loop from single.php is somehow also being sent over. • Explain ML type inference to a C++ programmer

  How does ML perform the type inference in the following function definition: let add a b = a + b Is it like C++ templates where no type-checking is performed until the point of template instantiation after which if the type supports the necessary operations, the function works or else a compilation error is thrown ? i.e. for example, the following function template template <typename NumType> NumType add(NumType a, NumType b) { return a + b; } will work for add<int>(23, 11); but won't work for add<ostream>(cout, fout); Is what I am guessing is correct or ML type inference works differently? PS: Sorry for my poor English; it's not my native language.

• Handling missing/incomplete data in R

  As you would expect from a DSL aimed at data analysts, R handles missing/incomplete data very well, for instance: Many R functions have an 'na.rm' flag that you can set to 'T' to remove the NAs, but if you want to deal with this before the function call, then: to replace each 'NA' w/ 0: ifelse(is.na(vx), 0, vx) to remove each 'NA': vx = vx[!is.na(a)] to remove entire each row that contains 'NA' from a data frame: dfx = dfx[complete.cases(dfx),] All of these functions remove 'NA' or rows with an 'NA' in them. Sometimes this isn't quite what you want though--making an 'NA'-excised copy of the data frame might be necessary for the next step in the workflow but in subsequent steps you often want those rows back (e.g., to calculate a column-wise statistic for a column that has missing rows caused by a prior call to 'complete cases' yet that column has no 'NA' values in it). to be as clear as possible about what i'm looking for: python/numpy has a class, 'masked array', with a 'mask' method, which lets you conceal--but not remove--NAs during a function call. Is there an analogous function in R?

• libXcodeDebuggerSupport.dylib is missing in iOS 4.2.1 development SDK

  Note: creating a symbolic link to use the 4.2 lib seems to work fine -- maybe cd /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/4.2.1\ \(8C148\)/Symbols/ sudo ln -s ../../4.2 (8C134)/Symbols/Developer Request: See end of this question! After upgrading from 4.2.0 (beta, I believe) to 4.2.1, the libXcodeDebuggerSupport.dylib file is missing, which results in: warning: Unable to read symbols for /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/4.2.1 (8C148)/Symbols/Developer/usr/lib/libXcodeDebuggerSupport.dylib (file not found). which I guess isn't good. Looking at the directory in question I note: .../DeviceSupport/4.2 (8C134)/Symbols/Developer/usr/lib/libXcodeDebuggerSupport.dylib but .../DeviceSupport/4.2.1 (8C148)/Symbols/System/ .../DeviceSupport/4.2.1 (8C148)/Symbols/usr/ the above two dirs make up all the content in the 4.2.1 folder. No "Developer" folder. Checking the /usr/ dir there, I find no libXcodeDebuggerSupport.dylib file in the lib dir either, so ln -s'ing isn't an option. Worth mentioning: after the upgrade, I plugged the iPad in and had to click "Use for development" in Xcode organizer. Doing so, I got a message about symbols missing for that version, and Xcode proceeded to generate such, then failed. I restored the iPad and did "Use for development" again, and nothing about missing symbols appeared... Update: deletion of /Developer and reinstallation of Xcode from scratch does not fix this issue. Update 2: I just realized that after the reinstall of Xcode, .../DeviceSupport/4.2 (8C134)/Symbols is now a symbolic link, lrwxr-xr-x 1 root admin 36 Dec 3 17:17 Symbols -> ../../Developer/SDKs/iPhoneOS4.2.sdk And the directory in question has the appropriate files. Maybe this is simply a matter of linking the 4.2.1 dir in the same fashion? I'll try that and see if Xcode freaks out. If someone who has this file could provide a md5 sum that would be splendid. • Missing parameter error after running MySql query

  Hello, I'm completely new to MySql and haven't used SqlDataSource with UpdateParameters before, so I'm probably missing something very obvious. When trying to update a record, the update does happen but then throws an error saying "'id' parameter is missing at the statement". So the query works and the database gets updated as it should, but an error is thrown afterwards.
