• AutoVue for Mobile Asset Management

  Our partner VentureForth is working with us on a solution to use AutoVue in their mobile asset management system. This is significant for me as this is the first product to use the new version of the Oracle Utilities Application Framework V4.0.1. This release is very significant as it adds a lot of new functionality to the framework, not just for MWM but will progressively rolled out across a few moew Oracle Utilities products over the next 12 months.   I have a problem, I bought a 3G mobile modem, but does not work in Ubuntu 12.10, also did not work on Ubuntu 12.04. I installed the USB Modeswitch and has the same flaw, does not recognize the modem within the connection manager, I connect the modem to the USB port and wait up to 20 minutes and does not recognize the modem. I ran the command recognizes the modem and lsusb as "Bus 001 Device 007: ID 0b3c: C004 Olivetti TechCenter." Does anyone have this modem, you can help me solve the problem, or does anyone have a solution? Because the manufacturer does not support Linux and according to some forums usbmodeswitch supports esste model. Olivetti Olicard modem 155.

• Micromax 3G mobile internet modem not being detected

  I have Micromax 3G modem, and i inserted it in the USB port, but it is not being detected by Ubuntu 12.04, that i'm using from a Live USB. I tried creating a mobile internet connection, however, eventhough i created it, there is no option to connect. I had previously used 11.10 Ubuntu, and it had automatically detected the datastick modem and asked me to create a connection.   I'm currently researching regarding a design for an online (realtime) mobile multiplayer game. As such, i'm taking into consideration that latencies (lag) is going to be high (perhaps higher than PC/consoles). I'd like to know if there are ways to overcome this or minimize the issues of high latency? The model i'll be using is peer-to-peer (using Photon cloud to broadcast messages to all other players). How do i deal with a scenario where a message about a local object's state at time t will only get to other players at *t + HUGE_LAG* ?

  The most exciting announcements from Mix 2010 last week for me were the release of the Windows Phone 7 Series SDK and the news that the platform utilizes Silverlight for the application development technology. From the press and exposure that the platform is being given and the experience that is promised it looks like the Windows Phone 7 Series could eventually compete with the iPhone. For me this is exciting as Silverlight can now be used to develop RIA apps, easily deployed desktop apps and mobile apps. As someone who delivers enterprise technology solutions this equates to a whole bunch of opportunity knocking at the door and asking to join the party. • Vodafone mobile broadband dongle doesn't work

  I'm running kubuntu 10.10 and have vodafone mobile broadband dongle. When I plug it in, I can see a 'new cellular connection' , but when I try to connect it shows 'preparing to connect' but never does. I went to 'manage connections' and addded my details, like APN,PIN and PUK. but it still ain't working.. I also tried unchecking MSCHAPv2 and MSCHAP in my PPP settings, but nothing seems to work. what do i do? I'm new to linux.

• Stream audio to mobile device

  I'd like to stream the audio from Ubuntu 10.10 to my HTC Desire HD (Android 2.2). I've seen solutions so far for streaming from audio players, but I'd like to stream any audio output from the PC to my phone. My use case is for watching TV/Films in VLC or online (BBC iPlayer) in bed, without having to use my surround sound system which is likely to wake up my house mates. I'm not just talking about music from Banshee, but any audio that the system makes. I was thinking that PulseAudio is pretty powerful, is it possible to route audio through that to a mobile device? Can it be done through bluetooth? Cheers in advance!

  Ongoing project idea. So this is of long running personal interest to build a Mobile App that shows you a push notification/pop up alert, when anyone calls your house phone. So I've taken delivery of a Raspberry Pi. I've ordered a new Crucible Technology Caller ID Box. (arriving soon). I have been writing/learning Python to implement the Listener software. This will in turn push xml messages up to Azure for final delivery via push notifications to an App. iOS app already written to receive the notifications/allow address book additions made up from phone numbers from incoming calls. So this is fusion, R-Pi, Azure, Hardware and iOS. Details to follow as this plan unfolds.
